The Lethbridge Hurricanes open the second-half of the WHL season tonight at 7:00pm as they welcome the Calgary Hitmen to the VisitLethbridge.com Arena.
The Hurricanes (17-11-1-1) enter on a five-game home winning streak after ending the first-half with a 4-1 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers on December 15th. Noah Chadwick, Will Sharpe, Shane Smith and Kooper Gizowski scored in the win while Jackson Unger made 25-saves. Lethbridge enters with a 5-1-0-0 record in their last six games and are a league-best 13-2-1-0 on home ice this season.
The Hitmen (17-9-3-1) enter on a four-game winning streak after entering the Christmas break with an 8-5 win over the Prince Albert Raiders on December 18th. Carson Wetsch and Connor Hvidston each scored twice while Kalem Parker, David Adaszynski, Oliver Tulk and Maxim Muranov added the other goals; Eric Tu made 18-saves in the win. Calgary enters with an 8-2-0-0 record in their last ten games and are 7-7-2-0 on the road this year.
Tonight will be the fourth of eight meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Hitmen; Lethbridge has posted an 0-3-0-0 record against Calgary this season and have lost four-straight against the Hitmen dating back to last season. [Music] the lebur Hurricanes kick off the second half of the WHL season tonight at 7 o’ as they welcome the Calgary Hitman to the visit Le bridge.com Arena the hurricanes have been off since a victory on December 15th but they’re ready to kick off the second half yeah I think we just need to be simple play our game you know there’s obviously going to be some R in this one for sure so I think we got to just try and get our feet under us early and get to as quick as we can good hockey team very organized um you know and and competitive with a lot of skill um missing two big pieces but you know their depth of their lineup is still there especially up the middle and and the way that they play um you know well we have to be organized but we like games that are like this because we’re also a detailed team that that’s organized as well so it’s going to come down to who wants to compete harder tonight yeah they’re a good team lots of skill lots of speed um we know how we got to play against them we’ve done lots of video we we’ve uh we haven’t played our best against them in the past but looking to put that behind us and uh get a win tonight it’s the fourth of eight meetings on the season between the hurricanes and the Hitman Lethbridge enters with a league best 13 2-1 home ICE record sitting 17 111 And1 overall while Calgary comes into play Sitting 1793 and one on the season second place in the Central Division Calgary has won all three previous matchups against the Hurricanes so far this season doors open at 6 o’cl puck drop at 7 from the visit Lethbridge decom Arena
