The Pittsburgh Penguins faced off against the Utah Hockey Club for the first time in franchise history. The game opened with two goals in the 1st period from Jack McBain and Mikhail Sergachev, which gave Utah a two-goal lead to head into the next 20 minutes. The Penguins would find the back of the net in the 2nd period, and it would be a big one: captain Sidney Crosby scored his 600th career goal. Crosby is the seventh player in NHL history to score 600 goals with a single franchise. The Penguins have now become the second team in NHL history (and first non-Original Six franchise) to have two 600-goal scorers. Later, former Penguins player Nick Bjugstad tacked on Utah’s third goal. Entering the 3rd, Dylan Guenther and Alexander Kerfoot each scored, respectively. To end the night, Guenther scored again, making the final score 6-1 in favor of the Utah Hockey Club.
