I think it’s a massive positive I think it’s a massive positive that Ruben amam is seing what he’s got I think you know before maybe there’s been times where you can be kidded on by thinking that you’ve got a better group of players that than you you know then you think and sometimes you can get decent results and you can move up to say sixth in the league seventh in the league with them and think one or two more to this group and they’re a mile away they’re absolute mile away in every single way and also playing the way in which he wants to play which is with this sort of three 43 with the two narrow in between he’s going have to change it anyway change it I think definitely in the wing back areas and the two pockets in behind the forward and the forward as well probably um he’s given everybody a try so he’s rotating the team actually from game to game but also in game as well and I don’t think there’ll be many that he looks at and thinks yeah I want you on the bus I don’t think there’ll be many there’re actually very mediocre um I don’t know how it’s happened I think they’re probably better than they’re showing let’s be clear but this is a a sustained pattern now under Eric tenhagen Ruben amarim Bournemouth well done to Bournemouth for being fifth in the league number one but also that’s the second year in the bounce they’ve won at Old Trafford 3-0 and you ariol is doing an amazing job um and they’ve not spent anywhere near the level of money that Manchester United have spent so they deserve exactly what they got to today you could see it from very early on in the game that they were the better team um so actually honestly I think it’s a big positive that Ruben amarim has an opportunity to be able to look at these players in the cold light of day um he’s got six months of a sort of what beauty parade if you like it’s not much of a beauty it’s more of a uh it’s more of an ugly parade than a beauty parade um but I’m glad these watching what Manchester United’s have what fans have watched for 10 years not just with this group but the groups before there got to be a big cultural overhaul a big shift in Direction um and yeah it’s a real Torrid time it really is um there’s not a lot to like about the performance levels there’s not a lot to like about the way in which they play uh and they’re all probably really good lads they’re all probably lads who are trying their very best and are hurting every single night so there’s no sort of if you like you know personal assault here it’s just they’re not good enough to be able to play for Manchester United United where Manchester United aimed to be and that is at the very top that’s not arrogance that’s where Manchester United aimed to be it’s where Liverpool aimed to be it’s where Arsenal aimed to be it’s where Chelsea aimed to be it’s where Manchester City aimed to be those five six clubs they need to be at the top that’s simple as that that’s where they want to be and you’ve got to get there and you’ve got to aim to get there you don’t always get there that’s obvious but you know it’s it’s quite clear watching them today watching them here on Thursday night in a in a in a carabal cup quarterfinal they’re not good enough so they they still have to play games week on week that there still has to be a process still people will turn up and pay their money at Old Trafford and watch them 70 odd thousand of them so what does for you realistically does the rest of this season look like I are you in terms of ambition sort of writing it off because it’s an exercise in finding out about the players or is there an ambition a sort of shortterm ambition within this season well the ambition still got to be to win every single match I mean he can’t change the ambition trying to win a trophy of some kind United have done that in the last 10 years they’ve won a few trophies um but the main thing is letting the manager he going take two or three transfer windows but the next two January I think and the summer are very important and I think there’s going to be a big overhaul because one thing that Ruben amarim said from day one is he’s not changing his idea he reiterated and reaffirmed that point time and time again so we can’t do that now please don’t do that I know he won’t but don’t do that you play you 3 43 that’s how you play and he said he would not change his idea so he’s got to stick with that and he said whoever doesn’t fit into it is ultimately not going to work so that that’s what he has to do it’s not a system that Manchester United ever played but it’s what this manager does and you have to believe in the manager you have to empower the manager at football club to to to pick the team to pick the system that’s the reason he’s there it’s the reason he’s the head coach so I think the rest of the season is about getting to a point whereby you’ve worked out the club have worked out Ruben Amry have worked works out and there’s going to be some real pain Financial pain I think in getting rid of some of the players that are on sweet contracts and on good length of contracts so it’s not going to be easy to get rid of a lot of the players but I think he’s going to have to I think they’re going to have to anybody that’s almost in some ways carrying more than probably 18 months two years baggage of being part of it is is going to probably have to go Bing a few of them because it’s not happening it’s getting worse and there’s no there’s not even a new manager bounce really the manager’s given us a bounce he’s got an energy about him and enthusiasm but you can even see him becoming more drained game by game his facial expressions and his body language on the side he’s thinking he’s watching it and thinking this is a bloody difficult job this is going to be a tough Old Road this to get down and he maybe have thought that at the beginning but I think the reality will be hitting him sort of game by game because yeah a lot of the other team that play against Manchester United look better and doesn’t matter whether they’re the very top of the league middle of the league or the bottom of the league they just tend to look better they to look more organized harder working and it’s a struggle it is so let’s hope he get some rest by over Christmas and I hope you do too Gary thank you thank you we’ll be back next weekend next weekend yeah yeah without conceding nothing to to the opponent and then one one set pieces um make us more nervous all the stadium I felt it uh since the first minute um there’s a lot of anxiety um that’s normal because of the the context and he’s really disappointed and then create a lot of chances to score um and then again like against Tottenham we we we they score two two goals and is really hard after that third goal is like everybody’s suffering in the stadium the fans the the players um everybody so is um a tough moment but we have to face it and then to prepare the next game pie now would you consider changing that because Andreas was brought to the club in the summer to take charge of set pie no the responsible of everything is me is not Carlos so is on me um and we have a we are a team we are a team in the good moments in the bad moments we have a way of doing things we are working on that we are going to improve um on that also but we don’t we didn’t lose because of set pieces uh we lose because we we we we create more chances we don’t don’t we didn’t score and then In This Moment everything against us they they they they can score like against Tottenham we create a lot of chances also um is a difficult moment but um the responsible is me not not car JY I a couple of weeks ago you saw said about your team was giving the ball away too much possession it happened again today you could defend you finish I mean until you get Basics right yeah it’s you get anywhere yeah it’s it’s that is that is clear but you you have um you have more possession you create more chances we ConEd less chances so you are defending uh of course the result says different thing but you are defending better than your opponent because you can see less great opportunity you are creating more so you are taking a little bit more but then in the the last moment we don’t score and then the results says a different things and like I said is really hard and we have to um to address that to we are suffering a lot of goals that is clear uh create a chances but not scoring so it’s it’s yeah we have to address that but should top professionals be able to do the basics of you don’t need to no it’s my respons ability to to to coach them of course we want to improve and In This Moment everything is so harder I don’t want I in this a club like Manchester United to to to lose 3-0 at home uh it’s it’s really tough for everybody and of course the fans are are really disappointed and tired of this moment you can feel it in the stadium even in the first play and I understand that but we have to face it and we know what to do so we have to improve set pieces um I think we are not giving the ball away as much as we we do we control better the the game we don’t concede a lot of spaces uh transitions we control very well against one team that 60% of the goals uh they score is when they they they steal the the the the ball in the our half and we managed to do that but then in the set pieces one penalty and then that moment when we have to forget the context everything and keep the ball for a moment and not try to to score two goals right away so uh it’s a really tough moment and we have to understand the the the what what the players are thinking in that moment when you suffer a 2-0 when you make a penalty when the box is controlled so we will address that you have to address that because um it’s really tough for everybody to lose this this kind of games on Thursday first you spoke of a a disconnect that he went from 1 n to 3 n very quickly same kind of thing has happened today I know you’re talking about coaching and on the training pit but that suggests it’s it’s a mental thing in the player Minds is that hard as to solve it’s I think this cont the this Mo this that moments that understanding of the game it’s a lot of mental but you can feel not just the players also the fans they you can feel it in the first goal kick with Andre is thinking what to do trying to push the other guys and everybody’s so anxious so I think uh In This Moment our club um everybody’s tired of this moment and we know it so we have to face it and focus on the next in the next game we know we know like I said in the previous question we know what to do uh we have addressed to address a lot of things but we are ready to do it and you already knew that the challenge is big and is is but like I said it’s really tough on the fans this is really tough on the on the players that they are losing two um at home so they want to score two goals um instead of first one okay well now just a reminder of the results under amarim since he came in because he did have some big wins including the massive one uh against Manchester City which I suppose now take that with a pinch of salt given their form then he won in the Europa League which I suppose has been a bit of a silver lining considering where they sit as well but this is bad isn’t it not just the losses but the amount of goal goal that they’re conceding surely he’s got to sort things out defensively first they were not scoring that many goals so he’s come in and he’s the first thing he changed was okay we’re going to build with three I think it’s a fundamental part of football a fundamental part of when you analyze any coach do they build with three center backs or they build with two because of it it changes the way that the team looks and he changed that and they score a lot of goals right before coming into today they scored 21 goals coming into so that’s not been the issue but I’ll go back to what I was saying before nobody will remember Sir Alex Ferguson style of play Mourinho style of play alelo style fight do they have good enough people though does he have good enough Defenders he definitely needs more he definitely needs more than what’s at his disposal we had a good clip the other day Mourinho saying look at my time at man united I was responsible of cleaning out but I never got to move new furniture in I hope he gets the time to move new furniture in but at the same time you H you know what man united style of play is you know what uh juventus’s style of players you know what the top clubs in the world style of play is winning football matches that’s a style because that’s what the fans want that’s what the that’s what the players want it’s a lot easier to convince players of your way when you’re winning football matches and when you’re not it becomes difficult and at these clubs you don’t have that much time yeah it could be said that you have a year and a half or two years or your contract he’s going to be given a lot of time though and he is but at the end of the day you could lose the locker room two weeks into this thing right it doesn’t matter if the club gives you three years that if you if if guys are not following you and you don’t have the right mix right away it could be a a long long rebuild and you look at some of the rebuilds I mean Liverpool’s a great example you look at what their re build was look how fast that’s been you look at Chelsea now you know we’re making fun of him a couple years ago but look at Chelsea now chasing and with a lot of young teams and playing good football under the maresa and so these rebuilds they don’t need to take two or three or four seasons they can happen quite quickly if you get them right and right now am not so sure about man United’s rebuild just before we talk about Chelsea H what is a successful season for Manchester United they’re in the Europa League they’ve got a chance in that competition but it feels like week in week out who knows what we’re going to see from them coming into the the match they they were actually not a million miles off the top four which is actually incredible so this was an opportunity but as amarim is trying to put his style of play his attacking way of playing trying to find out his 11 there’s no there’s not one player in the team with more than four goals he doesn’t know if it’s going to be hland he doesn’t know if it’s going to be Z he doesn’t know if it’s going to be Fernandez he doesn’t know who his guys are yet and it’s you know we’re now we’re talking nine games in so you have to start to figure that out but a successful season for me would be to try to flirt with Europe at the end of it try to get into the top five or six and see if they can get themselves into Europe because if they mix on Europe for a club of this stature it’s not enough do you see it happening though it’s going to be difficult if not if you’re conceding that many goals you know he’s got a bucket with a hole in it and he keeps putting water in you got to plug that you got to plug that hole up first and you know go back to a cliche saying but defensively you have to be sound to build anything has to be built from the bottom up and defensively you got you got to be sound it’s part of a little bit what pep struggles now are as well he’s so concerned with the results and with the football and with the personnel and who he has and who he doesn’t have he’s bleeding goals every single week that he plays he’s conceding so many goals and so many easy goals and that’s what kills you in Pep’s case it’s more on the Counterattack right and and with Amarin it’s on these set pieces right and these are things that need to be fixed before you address style of play Personnel or any of that other stuff because that was another disappointing day for your former Club yeah uh very disappointing again too many mistakes and it doesn’t really look like a team so uh when they get they had they had the opportunities at the end of the first half didn’t take those chances and then eventually you know they go two n down three n down very quickly after that and it just looks like they’re given up just from that moment on it just looked like the players individually tried to do something I don’t know just just to show them in a good light or but it’s I mean again just so disappointing 3-0 four times they conceded three goals home this season and two of them now under Ruben Amar let’s have a look at the goals PE because we’ll start with uh for the it’s a nine time out nine out of 19 or nine out of 20 goals conceded up until that point was on on set pieces and it’s I mean it’s a simple thing I mean you bet you know I don’t like to talk about back then but if you conceded three goals in the season you you felt you had a problem unset pieces because they are simple thing to simple things to uh to defend against but very disappointing in the second half they’d actually had a few opportunities United when mazra was a little rash to say the least inside the penalty area you’re being kinding Steve saying a little rash a little stupid I mean what on Earth what on Earth are you doing I mean he’s going into your players there’s two players waiting for him there he’s going towards the line he’s not going to score from there you dive in you just you just got to stand on your feet you got to waser him away it’s just a poor poor decision cly’s got a fantastic penalty record and he cooly slotted it away probably watched the goalkeeper and and then turned his foot into the other corner so and that was the the sad thing for Manchester United nowadays is is you they go one n down two n down you never really think they’re going to come back it’s it’s just it just doesn’t happen they’re just not a very good team but what amar’s got to make sure now that’s not a wasted game everyone can say oh yeah you know three and know we lost no points and all the rest but it can’t be a waste to he’ll be watching with eagle eyes and making sure that these players that are not performing they won’t put on a red shirt again and he’s got to be that brutal and that ruthless so it the wasted yes you might not get any points but something will just just sinking in there and think okay that’s fine we’ll see what happens in a couple of weeks or five or six months we should give credit to your former Club as well and seeno who you spoke about prior to kickoff getting another goal lovely move again so it’s amazing move I think it just sums up bourou to be honest um and even if we take it back it sums up man united in terms of you know how they play in the commitment Mayu could have sort of like got rid of it um but
