Georgia Boise State and Arizona state earning first round buys as the four highest ranked Conference champions Clemson sneaking into the field as the ACC Champion the Tigers they’ll visit Texas on December 21st and then Ohio State Penn State Notre Dame will also host first round games with Tennessee Indiana and SMU earning the three final at large bids we’ve talked to these two gentlemen throughout the road to get to this point Roman Harper and Paul Fine bom are joining us on Sports Center now the road ahead Paul is our Focus which of these teams in the bracket has the easiest path to a title I believe it’s Texas and does that make any sense they lose their conference Championship game in overtime but they really catch a break now they’re going to need more than a break though to get through the playoffs because as good as Texas has been this year they have found some flaws and most of the flaws have have centered around their number one player Quinn yers he has been at times erratic he’s thrown interceptions when he doesn’t need to and it opens up the question what should Steve sarkeesian do should he bring in the most famous backup quarterback in college football Arch Manning who has some packages for him or should he just stay with the ERS I think he needs to put Manning in there a little bit more Paul man I I love you Paul F bom just because you you just love to stir the pot just a little bit I mean it’s early this morning but you’re stirring it look when ERS will start and will not be replaced by Arch Manning at any point this season if Texas wants to win a National Championship then Quinn ERS must be the quarterback of this team it’s something to be said about being the actual quarterback the starter you own this team for this year now next year we can talk about it but for this year if Texas wants to win it all ERS has to be the quarterback Texas has to play better around him and Quin your has to play better football is the ultimate team sport all 11 doing one job together to execute at the highest level that’s what it takes to win in playoff football which for the first time we have this year in college football okay r i going come back to you now which double digit seed and Clemson counts you know Clemson going against Texas in a in a 125 but listen which digit seed has the best chance at an upset yeah I’m going to go with the Indiana hooers and coach tetti down there well up there with what they’re doing you look at who this team has been he brought in a whole pretty much an All-Star team of a group of five players with him coming into Indiana Indiana is better than you want do you think they are offensively especially through the air with their wide receivers and quarterback and then defensively they’re super opportunistic with getting after the quarterback sacking the quarterback at a high level and then forcing turnovers with their defensive backs and players in the back field it’s a veteran team that has has been constructed this year very quickly for this reason I really like Indiana and also weather matters we’re talking about all these first round matchups with double digit teams Indiana’s used to the cold that will not be an advantage it’s going to have to be dealing with Touchdown Jesus if you’re Indiana Roman SMU is not used to dealing with the cold but they caught a break I think by getting to play Penn State uh I know Penn State has a loft ranking they always have a lofty ranking and they also always lose the big game uh which they did on Saturday night and I’m I’m not suggesting that they’re going down to SMU but SMU has a shot uh even though yes they lost the conference Championship game too are we catching a trend here they have probably the best shot of those High seeds Okay Paul when this thing’s all said and done who wins The Natty I’m going with Georgia I I know that they have more flaws on a lot of teams we don’t know about Carson Beck’s Health he got knocked out of the game even though he he handed off on the winning play but the dogs I think are going to win it all whoa yeah I got Georgia as well just because they’re the most battle tested team it’s something to be said about when you’ve been through the wars how hardening it does of you and this team is just a little something special and of course they got the best coach in Kirby Smart you’re lucky Oregon’s not in the cfp rematch of last year’s Rose Bowl Michigan and Alabama duing it out in the reliaquest bowl that’s got in Tampa on New Year’s Eve we’re now joined by CBS Sports football analyst Emory hunt as the full schedule was officially revealed on Sunday and due to conference realignment we’ll get to see the 10 and2 BYU take on 9 and three Colorado in the alamoo bile two teams that finish in the top 25 in the college football playoff rankings but the Cougars at 17 Buffs at 23 considering that this is a big 12 Showdown just how do you see this one shaking out don’t H off this game nobody wants to see these but the reason why you should watch this game coach Prime said that his guys will play they will not opt out and with that means we got the number one quarterback in the NFL draft class and shador Sanders that’s going to play and the number one overall player in the NFL draft class and Travis Hunter and potential Heisman Trophy winner will play in this that’s a big deal especially so many years we get to see a lot of these star players that are opting out and preparing for the draft but we still get to see them at least one more time in the Collegiate field but in the the not biggest non- colge football playoff match up this postseason the defending champs heading down south to face 11th ranked Alabama and the relia quest bull that’s going to be Tuesday December 31st Wolverines fresh off that upset against Ohio St looking to build off that momentum Alabama meanwhile the last team left out of that cfp perhaps maybe a little their venge little anger on their minds I don’t know but what stands out to you in this one first of all uh let’s stir the pot like a big let do okay I like this I love how we start with showing Jaya milro why because is this the last game we see milro play in college football let alone Alabama is he going to the NFL I don’t know is he going to transfer out to another school who knows but this is intrigued to watch this game from the Alabama side from the Michigan side you have the hype of beating Ohio State you have the added hype of adding uh Underwood Bryce Underwood the number one quarterback recruit in the country and now you get a chance to knock off Alabama again that’ll be a great you know three step into the offseason and building into what should be a college football playoff appearance next season for Michigan so there’s a lot of stake here for both Alabama and Michigan but most importantly is jayen murro going to the NFL draft I can’t wait we got plenty of story lines and we’re not even done going through many of these bowl games because we got another one because in the Citrus Bowl it’s a battle of nine and three teams with 14th rank South Carolina taking on 21st rank Illinois on New Year’s Eve this is the third bowl game in coach Shane Bieber four years with the Gamecocks I want to know what you like about this one first of all we’re talking about perhaps the best team or second best team in sec in South Carolina that’s not in the postseason but we’ll save that for another day but South Carolina has great balance on both sides of the ball outstanding quarterback Leno sellers we know about their defense and how they’re able to get after the quarterback and stop the run and this matchup here to me would be a great test for this South Carolina football team because Illinois is a rock solid Squad almost like the big 10 version of South Carolina they play great for Brett BMA they do a great job in slowing down the Run game their quarterback play has been efficient so this will be one of the more entertaining games and quite honestly one of my favorite games to watch has always been the Citrus Bowl because it’s always a good matchup and we got a great one here between two teams that probably should have in a 16 team or 20 team playoff format would have probably been it yeah and I Mis ranked them it’s 15th ranked South Carolina 20th ranked Illinois I’m you know I’m I’m playing my own ranking meanwhile Florida Gators they’re going to face two lane the Green Wave and the gas Barilla Bowl the gator set to finish the 2024 season with a winning record breaking that fouryear streak of losing Seasons but I want to know what stands out to you in this one considering the seasons they came off of shout out to Billy napia first of all because I like how he was able to turn the ship around and get things going in the right direction they wanted him out of there but now he’s planted firmly in deep firmament out there in Gainesville and this is all about DJ lagway the outstanding quarterback that that we’ve grown to know over the course of this season he’s been phenomenal he want to you now you want to think like man if he would start the whole season maybe Florida would be a different player in the SEC but they got a guy that they can build around some recruits are starting to fall in so I like the Florida side of things for two lane one of my favorite backs in Makai Hughes over 1300 yards rushing 15 touchdowns they have a dynamic offense you know you their quarterback m is a fantastic player uh just fell short of the postseason just fell short of the AAC title game but this is a great team another great matchup we have here in bowl season yeah and then we got to talk about the celebration Bowl we got Jackson State South Carolina state you’ve got some good Intel about this match up yeah listen chennis Barry is a fantastic coach I met him when he was down at Southern he was the offens line coach produced numerous players going to the NFL got the head coaching job at Benedict College was in South Carolina Columbia South Carolina D2 program got those guys to back-to-back playoff appearances took over for a legend and Buddy Pew as the head coach of South Carolina state and has gotten them into the M championship game or which got them to the Celebration Bowl foree let me see for for for for sh for for hello for for know last for for e [Music]
