[Music] welcome into Giants postgame live brought to you by hackin sack Meridian health keep getting better live from the top of section 144 at MetLife Stadium my name is mine Burke alongside the Super Bowl champion sha O’Hara recapping the Giants week 17 win at home against the visiting Indianapolis Colts yes the Giants get their first win at home of the 2024 season and they do so in emphatic fashion Sean 4533 is the final score 45 points is the most points the Giants have put up in the Brian dable era wow that’s music to Giants fans ears I haven’t seen this many smiles and jubilations at the end of the game right here we’ve been waiting all year for this at home the Giants get their first victory in MetLife Stadium during the regular season and you mentioned it was an offensive explosion this is what you come out to the games to see to see touchdowns to see big plays explosive runs explosive passes yeah and the Giants offense we’ve been waiting for this kind of eruption we’ve been waiting for this type of performance all year long it finally came to fruition and 45 points that’s more points than they scored in the last three games combined so this is what a functional offense looks like this is what it looks like when you stay ahead of the sticks when you are not beating yourselves and listen shout out to Drew lock who got the nod from Brian dable to be the starter for the second straight week and really Brian da went on record said I’m starting Drew lock because I want him to have some consistency I want there to be some carryover from last week and that’s exactly what transpired today out there on the field Drew lock made some unbelievable throws actually ran for a touchdown yeah he looked on point he looked accurate and he got some help from some of his Playmakers so it’s amazing to see what a team can look like when the offense is scoring points they scored three touchdowns on three back-to-back possessions in the first half alone that provided all kinds of excitement and electricity and the defense really fed off of that well in the three touchdowns in the first half to three different receivers you have a touchdown to Tyrone Tracy a touchdown pass to Malik neighbors and a touchdown pass to Wale Robinson it’s the first time in Giants franchise history they’ve had three receiving touchdowns with three different players in the first half starting strong as a point of emphasis Drew lock at the half had more touchdown passes than he had incomplete passes talk about what kind of game we saw from Drew lock today though yeah did a great job just spreading the ball around finding the open guys based on what the defense was dictating and there was a lot of yards after the catch too which means the ball was getting there on time so offensively just an unbelievable performance and when you think about not just all of the change at the quarterback position obviously coming into the game of League neighbors was questionable with a toe injury that seemed to be just fine but they changed offensive line yet again Greg rhen started in at Center for John Michael schmidtz which means Jake kubis went in a Right Guard Aaron stiny back in at left guard so a different offensive line and yet they still did a great job creating points creating positive plays and I think the offense look there was obviously a spark I mean this Stadium as conflicted as some Giants fans may have been have no have no doubt that down on the field for the players this is what you play for this is why you practice this is why you you lift in in the weight room this is why you go through all of those days and those dog days and this is why you play through injuries and bumps and bruises and as coaches this is what you play for for that feeling that feeling down on the field to take the best playing football the victory formation take a knee and to know that we did this together we got a victory and Giants fans for those of the Giants fans that came out today to watch this game thank you for your support thank you for coming out and listen this is what it’s supposed to feel like as you walk to your car it’s supposed to feel good yeah and you mentioned the offensive line change up this is the ninth different offensive line combination the Giants have had this season which is a lot considering the first six games were consistent with the same starting five but you know what the offense was clicking today 45 points one of the offensive players who got into the end zone Wale Robinson is on the field with our paulatino right now let’s send it down Wale you guys snaap that 10 game losing streak franchise record I can’t imagine how sweet this one feels uh yeah it feels great um obviously we wish we could have started this a little bit earlier in the season but um it’s just great to come out with a win what about the fan support here at home this was a real loud fourth quarter as you were icing the game there with those last couple of scoring drives the place was rocket yeah I mean uh big big shout out to those guys and the fans um we couldn’t have done all that without you guys and um extremely grateful it wasn’t the season that we were hoping for uh that you guys were hoping for as well but um we’ll make sure that yall happy next year Drew lock and his offense were incredible today what was it that was clicking so great uh we were just executing we were staying on uh staying on track playing in the green um not hurting ourselves essentially um that’s what we felt like the biggest problem was with us was hurting ourselves um we control we controled and uh we put points on the board so w Del congratulations thanks yes sir thank you as we take a look at the air attack today Giants getting the ball aired out Malik neighbors Wale Robinson Darius Lon each with some big ball games as the Giants get the 4533 win over the Colts Sean yeah great performance right there by that three-headed monster and it was nice to see Darius slayen get in the end zone too Malik neighbors today I mean this was exactly why you draft a guy like that he showed the explosive ability he showed the ability to make guys miss to break tackles and to make acrobatic catches like Drew lock there were a number of times where he threw the ball in his area code and Malik neighbors found a way to come down with the catch so a great job outside by the receivers great job of of catching the football really great job of Drew lock taking care of the football and making sure that he didn’t have any any bad throws um a great bounceback game for him after that game against Atlanta last week with two pick sixes this is what football should look like this is how fun it should be and you could tell they were having fun playing you obviously scoring points is great but every time they scored a touchdown and the Colts answered and came back the Giants responded they went back out and scored another another touchdown so I I thought that the the offense was in Rhythm they were locked in and they were fun to watch the offense was locked in defense winning the turnover battle three to nothing and special teams coming out of the second half Amir Smith marett returns to second half opening kickoff for 100 yds a touchdown it’s the first time the Giants have returned an opening kickoff in the second half since 1949 the man who did it ran end to end on the field is down with Paul dintino let’s send it down to Paul and Amir Smith maret Amir you got the Giants first kickoff return for a touchdown since 2015 when Dwayne Harris did it against Dallas 100 yards tell me what you saw on the play um well we knew that it was going to be slim slim chances this uh this week um he he gave us a chance he tried to bang it out but he left it short and uh I told my coaches if I catch it going forward I’m taking it out and then once I took it out they tried to do a couple of stunts and that’s where I I just hit them where they where they stunted at and just kept going head down full of steam and just roll I’d love for you to explain the desire the heart and the fire that this young team had to get a win in its final home game oh yeah I mean it’s tough you know long season uh what 10 straight of you know falling short um we wanted one just for each other and then for the coaches uh just come out here put our best foot forward and then just you know go out there and attack that was the game plan attack at every on at every uh phase of the game and uh that’s what we did today and uh we got the dub you have so many young players on this team and I know you guys all pull so much for each other how important is that moving forward as this team grows there the many uh say that again how important is it for the young players growing together as this team moves forward yeah yeah yeah it’s it’s very important you get to see what it’s like when everybody’s contributing and uh we all hit we hitting it on all is offense did they thing today defense did they thing and then special teams came through to too so when you got those young players and you show them this is what it’s like to play together and then you know get a dub it it it forms a a nice stable stability and a culture and then you just take it from there where’s the ball going to the house congratulations y thank you appreciate it Giants wide receiver Amir Smith Marette with our Paul dintino player sound is brought to you by your local Ford Stores Ford is proud to be the official truck of the New York empowering our youth for the scoring Drive of the game we take you to the fourth quarter nine plays 70 yards took 3 minutes and 41 seconds off the clock capped by a 5yd rushing touchdown by quarterback Drew lock and route to the Giants 4533 victory over the Colts a first home win of the 2024 season here at Mat Liv Stadium welcome back to Giants postgame live mine Burke and Shan O’Hara here at the top of section 144 but let’s send it down to the field for another perspective from Paul datino and Brandon London okay madine thanks very much Brandon the Giants wind up putting up a 45 spot today uh the most points they’ve scored since 2019 week 16 against Washington when they scored 41 and also only the third time this year they had the lead at halftime Drew lock was unbelievable threw for three touchdown passes and ran for one himself yeah we got a chance to see the the backpack celebration that he’s uh accustomed to doing no but honestly Paul it was great to see the offense come out and execute but I think the biggest thing is not only were they able to get big plays they were able to move the ball down the field methodically like they’ve done but honestly the best thing at the end of the day they’re able to finish drives and put six on the board and that’s why you’re able to get 45 plus points yeah I think it might have even been four touchdowns by the time the official stats were in but I got to tell you something about this game you’re talking about everybody contributing the young guys the old guys the Run game the pass game and this crowd was going nuts you saw some of the Giants signing autographs for these home fans after the game don’t tell me that this place wasn’t buzzing for a home victory that was easy for me to do my job as the MC people were getting hype and I thought it was me but at the same time no it was M League neighbors it was guys like ju Del Robinson making plays uh Smith Mar set making plays and that’s what you wanted to see from not only this Giants offense but just collectively these guys have been starving to make big plays these guys have been starving to get a dub on the board get a w on the board but it was great to see them after the game had these Smiles on their faces and when I see guys like Drew Phillips Tyrone Tracy and those guys they say it was good to get that first one at home now it’s something to build off of whether it’s going into next week or just next season yeah for the only the third time in NFL history rookies a rookie duel Tracy and neighbors each with over a th yard from scrimmage that’s a great building block yeah like a good neighbor he’s been there throughout the season he has been someone that has been talking about Malik neighbors uh he’s been someone that’s been consistent throughout the year and he’s that guy that’s had that dog in that wolf in them we talk about Tyrone Tracy Jr Paul we talk about opportunity all the time when it comes to this league he was able to get the starting running back job he had some big games he kind of tailored off just a little bit but for him to come out and have a th000 yards from scrimmage as a rookie that’s something to build on in the future I’m proud of the young guy and neighbors goes over the 100 catches we don’t want to forget that but I also want to talk about on defense two young guys who are another big part of the future Belton and Phillips each with interceptions in this game yeah we loved uh Belton going into this year and we thought that he was going to uh be a starter you know but Jason pinnick and Tyler nubin was able to take those jobs but Drew Phillips has been a leader and he’s been a consum Pro as a rookie ever since he stepped in from day one we saw at the Joint practice with the Lions and we’re like this kid’s got something in him this kid’s going to be a a heck of a athlete here in New York for years to come it felt like an earthquake down here on the Seline are you smiling right now I think so yes and if I didn’t know better I’d swear these people thought you were Santa Claus today I could be I could happy New Year everybody we’ll send it back to upstairs thanks so much guys a lot of Joy on this field too and like these guys mentioned an incredible accomplish ment from the rookies today Tyrone Tracy and Malik neighbors both surpassed 1,000 yards from scrimmage on the season they’re the third pair of rookie teammates in NFL history to do this the last time this happened 2006 Reggie Bush and Maris coulston with the New Orleans Saints couple of guys who had some pretty talented careers uh of their own as well but when you consider the fact that the young guys on this offense are putting up this much productivity despite the season success or lack thereof this has got to bode well for building blocks for this franchise yeah it bodess well for the Giants as an organization as well because now you have these future stars and obviously Malik Neighbors being drafted as high as he was everybody was expecting him to make that immediate impact I think Tyrone Tracy is kind of the added bonus to this because he was a late round draft pick people didn’t really know what to expect from him but right in training camp we all kind of saw a little Flash from him we saw some burst from him we saw wow that kid’s kind of special we think he could actually end up being a really good player and throughout the SE season he was the spark plug on the ground he was the spark plug for the offense and he proved that he can carry the offense he can handle the workload I think his explosive ability showed up week in and week out that he’s got that big play potential so these are great building blocks for the Giants to build for in the future I think for the two of them they’re going to complement each other really well look if Tyron Trac is having a monster game it’s going to open up things from my league neighbors and vice versa so I think for the Giants two slam dunks on those draft picks as much as people you know have have looked at some of the miss before these are two on spot Target hits great attributes to this Giants team and I think when you have young players like that that you can build off of look they play with great energy too and I think that’s contagious so uh great job by them and really when you have a thousand- yard rusher that’s an offensive line that’s a goal as you go into the season we want to have a thousand-yard rusher so it doesn’t happen by accident and it it just happens throughout time and as you continue to to keep chopping on that wood and they stayed at it so um kudos to them for for that performance but I think when you look at the future it’s certainly bright with both of these Stars absolutely the future is very bright indeed thousand yard rusher Tyrone Tracy thousand yard receptions Malik neighbors and Counting with still another game to be played um a great Duo great young Duo for this giant for Neighbors we talked about this even last week the fact that he did all that with multiple quarterbacks this wasn’t just one quarterback throughout the entire season he’s he’s caught balls from four different quarterbacks this year so that’s not easy to do as well and he’s been the focal point of the offense week in and week out over 30% of the target share with whomever is under Center the fact that he’s had 13 games of five or more catches that’s the most by any rookie in NFL history as well so just continuously setting rookie records and NFL records in his first season that bodess well for the trajectory of this building Base building blocks of this franchise for the future all right we’ve got much more to come head coach Brian dable heading to the podium soon we’ll head down and have a listen to what he has to say as soon as he takes the microphone New York football Giants fans the official 100 season book titled New York football Giants the people the moments the Traditions is now here recapping the Giants week 17 win over the Indianapolis Colts 4533 was the final score for more let’s hear from the head coach Brian DAV at the podium okay pretty good day good to get a win at home a lot of guys played well that’s how the offense needs to perform so the quarterback needs to perform so when you do that you win the turnover ratio you have a chance to score points and win Brian when you walk into the locker room after what everybody on the team has been to coaches players there got to be smiling faces what’s it like walking into that locker room today yeah uh again I’m just happy for for the players for the coaches you know you go it’s it’s a tough season um but we got a lot of good people a lot of good character people on our football team and they work every day and it’s good to see results it’s good to see smile on their faces I’m I’m happy for the for the players and the coaches that put so much into it Bri Brian this has got to be a relief for you too man this has been a long season so I know everything’s about the plays and the organization with you but man personally this just got to be yeah it’s really really I’m I’m I’m happy for the players and the coaches um you know those guys put a lot into it they come out they grind every day they have good attitudes and it’s never easy when you’re when you’re losing um but I’m proud of the character and the other people in the building and I’m I’m mostly happy for for them did you have any inkling that you could have a big day offensively you know it just hasn’t been there that you know I think if if the you get good quarterback play um you know you have an opportunity in every game and you don’t turn the football over and you make you know critical plays at critical times I think we were good on third down I think we were good in the Red Zone Drew made good decisions had a lot of alerts um but that’s the start of it and then you know you’re going to have to play good complimentary football so to get some turnovers you know we gave up some big plays that that we got to continue to work on um but it’s you know and credit the the players for making the plays that they’ve made you know I think Malik and Tracy have some some deal that they got I’m happy for those guys but mostly I’m happy for the collective of of getting a Winan it would have been easy for these guys just a couple weeks left in the season the way this got to to kind of just cash in yeah um what does it say that that didn’t happen I mean that’s a pretty legitimate performance yeah well again I I’ve had a lot of confidence uh in the people in our building the way they operate not the results Connor obviously um but coming back from from injuries that you know are are pretty good injuries and they fight back to to perform at the end of the year um you I’ve been on some other teams and you know it’s a cred to credit to the coaches you know battling through it with the players who are injured who come back who compete um you know who work hard every day are in early have extra meetings you know and in December when you’re when you don’t have a very good record um but you know there’s a a process that we believe in and you know they they keep fighting through it um and I’m just happy that you know they can have a smile on their face um and get a win so I’m proud I’m proud of the guys I was proud of them some of those games where we lost we just um just got to keep battling through it how impressive is it it’s a tur you like it not for me what do you what do you make of Malik topping 100 catches and 1,000 yards as a rookie how much why we drafted him where we drafted him you know I mean I’ve been asked about it since training camp and I think the response is he’s a pretty good football player and he missed two games and he’s battling through you know I’d say a pretty good injury with his toe um so I think between him and Tracy where he was around I mean for them for those guys to do it in a season like this with a variety of quarterbacks I think that’s pretty impressive to say um guys are the right kind of guys you’ve been talking about explosive plays um and these were not down the- field explosive plays these were generated explosive plays weren’t they for the most there was a couple there was a couple variety we threw a couple goes to to Malik on check with me of guys we wanted to attack and we talk about run after catch all the time when we have good run after catch players it’s about ball placement it’s about reading it’s about getting to him on time it’s about the protection element um but again Drew played this was his fourth game he started obviously three starts and that weren’t great you know close but um you know did a good job during the week of being focused and I give Shay Tierney a ton of credit working with him um did a great job with him and you know just like he did Deo I mean there’s uh he he played well today but other people played well about I had him break him down and that’s the first thing he said you know I I said hey great great game but he said hey there’s you know 10 guys around me on offense and 11 on defense and and what about air you know what a what a what a great return to start out you know in the second half uh I don’t think he was touched great blocking um it’s what it needs to look like though you need to win a turnover ratio you need good quarterback play you need to take the ball away um need run after catch you need explosive plays you need good tackling I mean there’s no secret to this league uh that’s you know and if you do all those things you have a chance it doesn’t guarantee you anything emphasizing the good quarterback play why do you think it took to we 16 to get this type of quarterback his four start um again he he played well it’s it’s not an easy position to play Dan it’s I I don’t know how many have won Super Bowls for the last 23 years um I mean it’s hard position to play uh and again Drew would be the first or Tommy look we all got to do better you can put that on me um but I was proud of the way he played to seeb did you do anything specifically to simplify things or make it easier for him in this game no we had a fair amount of alerts alerts today one play here one play next again it’s not it’s not a big secret I mean we played made plays down the field we ran after the catch we control the line of scrimmage we took the ball away it’s not you know it’s not just playing well played well what are the qualities of the quarterback play that you’re you’re saying that you finally saw today we took care we won the turnover ratio we took care of the ball we’ve we’ve been turning it over um and you can’t do that in this league uh I don’t know he had I mean we won the quarterback rating which is usually about a 90% chance that you’re going to win win a game when you win a quarterback rating between the other other quarterback um made good decisions with the football gave our guys opportunities played good in the Red Zone did well on third down I mean those are all situational things that you know you need good play um and again I credit a lot of the other guys too around him I mean ju Del had that drop over on the sideline when they brought the safety here the pressure off the edge he made a drop and then he made two plays huge plays in those drive to to go ahead Malik had a nice run after catch on a little boot Slayton made a great run after catch we gave Malik chances down the field chances down the field to make plays um and then he operated you know he operated he operated well but again it’s it takes everybody talk about the players and the coach what’s this win mean to you I’m just I worry I focus on those guys um you know for the fans too you know the fans were you know the ones that that are out there cheering their tails off we we certainly appreciate that but again I see these coaches every day come in and and are consistent you know and it’s hard to be consistent in an inconsistent League when things go you know it’s not great look we haven’t had a good record uh I firmly acknowledge that and I accept responsibility for that but their commitment to doing things the right way day in and day out you know staying late putting together plans again much like the players when you’re you know hey we’re down we got two wins you know the right kind of people um but again it’s it it was good to get a win at home Dan I’ll say that um it was good to get a win at home but I’m I’m very yeah means more to me for the players and and the coaches with them here getting that return I think a couple weeks ago he had one that was taken away by penalty how big was yeah how big was it for him to finally get one for him that was great I mean it was a explosive play another explosive play um so it was blocked well I mean I don’t think he he broke stride he he hit it was well blocked GOI um Stephen Thomas cam good good football coaches that uh you know it came together on that play and gave us some juice there because you know Indie was scoring was kind of back and forth until we got that turnover late um but it’s a good day for for the players and and for the coaches on the sideline that’s Giants head coach Brian dble after the 4533 win over the Colts eliminating the Colts from playoff contention 45 points the most points the Giants have put up in the Brian dable era and dble kind of emphasized this what good quarterback play does for you when you win the quarterback rating battle you have a 90% chance of of winning the game he says Drew lock through for 309 yards had five total touchdowns four passing and a rushing but also the Giants won the turnover battle for the first time this season three to nothing something that they’ve been emphasizing week in and week out yeah malal it’s a simple formula right take care of the football create takeaways good quarterback play it’s not always simple to execute that plan and you saw Brian dble talking about the good quarterback play what does that mean that means operational getting us in out of the Huddle protection wise giving your receivers a chance to make a play and getting the ball out accurately on time so they can make yards after the catch those are all things he touched on but look let’s take a look at this from a personal standpoint don’t think for a second this didn’t mean something to Brian dble you could see the emotion and feel the emotion for him this was an unbelievable win for them it’s hard when you’re coaching and when you’re playing and when you’re losing week in and week out it’s hard not to attribute your own value with the losses and when you’re losing football games you start to doubt yourself you start to doubt the process everything becomes in question and so to get a win like this it validates everything you’re doing validates all the work and I think you saw Brian dble I thought he got a little emotional there and how could you not they’ve been through so much 10 straight losses that’s unbearable in the NFL that is that is an eternity yeah to get the victory what it means is coming in there and celebrating with your team with the players with the coaches and saying this is why we put in so much work this is what we’re doing this all for and I know that that it had to feel good for him had to validate everything they’ve done and I think from players too that’s why you play this game you play this game to compete and to get a victory and there are a lot of people that may be upset that the Giants won a football game but not for that locker room and not for the reason why they were playing this game they were playing this game for one reason to win and they finally got that feeling and I think it validated a lot of the work and I think it validates a lot of the coaches a lot of good coaches on the staff a lot of good players they finally came to fruition absolutely and it felt good to do it at home in front of these Giants fans who were waiting all season to get a win at home we’re cheering them on got more to come though come to those who wait mine speaking of fans you know Malik neighbors was out there meeting with some of the fans signing some autog graphs we’ll hear from the Giants rookie wide receiver who hit a thousand allpurpose yards today that’s next on Giants postgame live welcome back to Giants postgame live today’s player of the game is presented by HCL Tech supercharging progress the official digital transformation partner of the New York Giants the player of the game drum roll please rookie wide receiver Malik neighbors seven receptions 171 yards and two touchdown on the day he’s got the fifth most receiving yards by a Giants rookie in a game plus eclipses the 1,000 all purpose yards mark on the season in his rookie season for more let’s send it down and here from the wide receiver who’s speaking now it felt good um it felt good to go out there with my brothers on last home game um get a win for all the fans that came out um today so it felt good obviously you had a big day but along with um Tyrone you both are like the third duo in a rookie duo in NFL history to gain over a th000 yards from scrimmage what does it mean to you to be able to do that with him with another rookie I mean it’s kudos to him and me um that we came out come out here you know come out there and practice do our do our jobs um and come in the game and contribute to help the team win um and do as much as possible so we can win um you know seeing Tyrone you know go out every day at practice um and do the things that he do you know it’s amazing you know me and him has been lifting each other through the season you know we had stuff at the beginning of the Season that didn’t go our way but you know we stayed down with each other um uplifted each other and you know it’s paying off the touchdown could you talk about that look did you split the two guys oh which one the one down the right sideline um they both was on the right sideline the first one or the second one the longer one uh yeah um I mean I turned around the ball was right there and then I was just like I I seen both of them coming I try I just split both of them cuz I that’s the only way I could have went and then they after that I just felt nobody on and I just kept running Mal whatever with everything you’ve gone through this year and you kind of talked about it last week during practice but just the idea that injuries things haven’t gone your way as a team individually were out for a while how hard was it to make sure that your focus stayed on this season and you didn’t start thinking about well next year we’re going to do this and do that right I mean cuz we still locked in on this season we still had two games left so to take my mind off of those two games left and Weir about next year it just it wouldn’t be right um and it just it’s it’s all it’s not going to be a smooth sailing ride you know it’s going to be a bumpy road U I’ve been learning that my whole life um but learn how to like keep my mentor straight keep my focus locked in on this year and what what’s leaving my legacy on this year um and then contining after the year is over then focus on next year getting over 100 catches and getting over a thousand yards today what does that mean to you um I mean it means a lot um you know coming in as a rookie to do those things um you know it’s been a long time I don’t know how long it’s been since it happened but you know it’s been it’s been great for me to have the opportunity to do it but I want to thank you know my offensive line my quarterbacks that have been throwing me the ball um my receivers in the in my in my room you know um even though they don’t get as many targets as you know I do a game um they still find a way to uplift me encourage me every week of practice um and still continue to you know be proud of what I’ve done be proud of you know what we have done as a um organization as a group so just having those guys on side me you know um it’s it’s been it’s been a lot I mean it means a lot to me to have those guys and going out there playing a football game with those guys how close to 100% are you Malik neighbors becomes the fifth rookie in NFL history with a 100 or more receptions and a thousand or more receiving yards in his rookie season after the break we’ll hear from the quarterback that threw him a chunk of those yards today Drew lock heads the podium that more is Giants postgame live brought to you by hackin sack Meridian health continues after this quick break stay with [Music] us they deserved it the locker room deserved it everybody a part of this organization deserved it um it was a lot of fun a lot of fun we were clicking today um we knew we knew we had it in us um it’s just time to go out and show it and do it and make the plays when they were there sure enough we went out and did that today so it was a fun time really good time talk about Malik and his impact today yeah first off congrats to him thousand yards rookie what a beast what a dude um he’s going to be great he’s going to be great for a really long time he’s going to keep working mentality he has he’s just going to keep getting better um and I feel like you kind of saw that throughout the year yeah that Browns game was impressive early in the year but with each game when he was healthy whether he wasn’t really truly healthy banged up going out there play kept making an impact kept making more of an impact as the year went on and uh that’s hard to do with a guy that you know made such a big impact early in the year being able to consistently hang with that and be that guy um it’s impressive in your view what what makes him so special he’s just got this ability to get open I know that that’s kind of a a basic answer but great feel great spatial awareness there’s a threat of the deep ball with him but at the same time he’s got good releases off the ball studies Corners um just does he does things the right way after last that was Giants quarterback Drew lock as we take a look at the numbers quarterback comparison today Drew lock Joe flacko shooting it out on the field today in a quarterback comparison lock 73.9% completion percentage an impressive 309 yards four touchdowns another one on the ground as well five total uh Drew lot quite the game today Sean yeah he was spreading the ball around well the completion percentage right there says a lot 73% so that means he was accurate I thought the ball came out on time too you did not see him back there kind of hold on to the ball too long scrambling he read the defense well you could tell he was locked in uh no punt intended but I think when you look at that quarterback play this is what the Giants have been looking for all year long they have Playmakers you even saw Darius Slayton get in on it we knew m had that ability but Slayton W Robinson the explosive ability after the catch is what really showed up today and I think that that you have to give credit to Drew lock as well for getting the ball out on time getting the ball into their hands early and on target proper location so they can make a play afterwards so compliments to Drew lock for the performance I think the protection was excellent too and I think he has a big part in that making sure that the running back is where he’s supposed to be making sure the offensive line sees the same thing that he sees so I thought he did great he looked very confident today and it was a great bounceback game for him great bounceback game great performance by Drew lock airing it out to six different receivers three different players with touchdown receptions one of whom Tyrone Tracy is now speaking in the locker room and mik neighbors both getting the thousand plus yards from scrimmage as a rookie Duo third ever in NFL history you’re a big part of history now what does that mean to you and what do you think that means to your partner over there Malik I mean to me personally it means a lot um again when you put a lot of work into something um you see and you see that you know it you’re reaping the benefits of it I mean it feels really good um and then for him I know he works hard I I see it for myself um so for for to see him have success and the way he’s having success um and he missed a couple games of the beginning like it’s it’s just remarkable you know what I’m saying like I think um God places certain people in certain situations um and give them certain opportunities and I just think that um we here for a reason I really do I believe that we’re here for a reason um and I think that this is just the the beginning of of some something special um but again I’m just blessed you know what I’m saying to to be here you know and part of this organization you know you’ve been banged up yourself now for a little while but yet you continue to forge forward as everybody did to get this win today what does that tell tell people about the guts and determination of of of the young guys on this team yeah I mean I feel like um it’s been evident the entire season you know if you ever watch our games then um towards the end of it we always playing hard like we’re we’re never the the the um rookies or the the players to give up or you know to wave a white flag we always going to play hard to the end of it um so for me personally when you have you know guys like Malik um t- Theo um that are out there playing hard each and every snap um mind you the Vets but I’m really just naming the rookies right now um You you want to play hard with them you want to to end up like having success with them um so I feel like again we we we are a strong group you know we we’re a hardworking group and also at the end of the day like we’re not going to give up you know we’re always we’re very resilient we’re going to continue to be that way okay that’s Giants rookie running back Tyrone Tracy who eclipsed 1,000 allpurpose yards in his rookie season today with a game to go more to come here on Giants postgame live after the break hey Giants fans check out the Eli Manning show presented by Panini prism trading cards all you have to do is subscribe to the Giants YouTube channel to catch all of the new shows it’s the Eli Manning show subscribe today welcome back to Giants postgame live brought to you by hackin sack Meridian health mine Burke and Shan O’Hara recapping the Giants week 17 win over the Colts 4533 is the final score let send it down to the locker room where Kavon Tibido is speaking to the media we’re at that point in the season where you know obviously we got these last two games to put it on tape and to punish somebody so that’s all we that’s all we can do it’s a real hassle to deal with Jonathan Taylor the guy is a load but he got his and it was still not enough for them to win the game that’s that that’s got to feel pretty good for you guys man big shout out to Jonathan Taylor uh I want to give a little sidebar we played Jonathan Taylor Jonathan Taylor in the Rose Bowl when he was at Wisconsin we stopped them too shout out to Oregon I know they’re playing the roseb this week let’s go Doug go get the job done final thought some of the young guys really stepped up again today Phillips Belton Smith Moret I mean you got to feel really happy for those guys cuz they’re going to be part of the future of this team I mean come on when you talk about stepped up like we couldn’t have done it without him we had a lot of uh injuries this year so it’s been great having them and uh super proud of them thank you so much K thank you whole lot of joy in the locker room right there Kon Tibido with our Paul datino but I don’t think anybody in this building is as happy as Paul dintino did you see the smile on his face oh man he’s giddy no doubt about it as he should be he’s he’s spreading Christmas Jer for all to hear absolutely giddy as as all can be and especially when you look at the way that the Giants defense played today winning the turnover battle two interceptions a forced fumble an uh an incredible performance by this Giants defense getting the first home win putting uh and eliminating the Colts from playoff contention yeah M the defense played really well and look takeaways sometimes come in bunches that certainly happened today when you mentioned look the sack Force fumble by Tibido we’ve been waiting for that explosive play all season long and then the the two interceptions the one by Dan Bellon early on I think that gave the defense a huge shot of of excitement yeah and it gave the offense a little bit of a shot too so well that was on the opening drive too yeah opening drive right out of the gate all right hey look we got a takeway let’s turn it around and make some get some points out of it which they did so and then for Tyler Newman to jump out there and he’s been banged up in and out of the roster all season long for him to have another takeaway as well that’s not something the Giants have had a lot of this season so it came at a at a perfect time and I think that whenever you have takeaways like that look it energized the defense it energized the offense and then to get a special teams touchdown on top of it this is when you when you see a team that’s playing on all levels and all cylinders and feeding off each other that’s what it looks like all three phases functioning at Peak ability winning the turnover battle putting up up the most points that they have under Brian da and a special teams touchdown what more could you ask for for the Giants first home win of the season but we’ve got one more game to go we’ll talk about that one as Giants postgame live brought to you by hackin sack Meridian health continues after this [Music] break well the Giants have wrapped up their home schedule but there’s one more game on the schedule on the road week 18 at Philadelphia the game the day and time is still TBD as a recording of this show January 4th or 5th Saturday or Sunday but it’s a division matchup the Giants at the Eagles the Eagles got the 41 to7 win over the Cowboys in week 17 locking up the NFC East winning the division this year so the division is secured but when you look at that matchup anytime you’re playing Giants Eagles football people are going to come to play the Giants had a chance today to play spoiler and knock the Colts out of the playoffs they don’t get that chance next week whether it’s Saturday or whether it’s Sunday but I don’t give a damn any chance you get to beat the birds give me Thursday give me Friday give me Monday doesn’t matter what day of the week if you get a chance to beat the birds you take the opportunity so for the Giants to get to play Philly down in Philly to have a chance to get a win at the link look as a player you can’t ask for anything more than that so for the Giants they’ve got to carry this over this confidence that they had against the Colts the Rhythm they had offensively that has to carry over I thought their protection was excellent that’s been really one of the Achilles heels of the Giants offense against the Eagles the last couple of games last couple times they played him a lot of sacks struggled to keep the quarterback ight so Tyron Tracy yeah keep doing what you’re doing neighbors keep doing what you’re doing let’s see it I don’t want to hear that Fly Eagles Fly song I hate that song No a division game to end the season as we wrap up our home stand of the Season want to send a congratulation to Tom canovan his last home game retiring after 40 years covering the Giants for the Associated Press and also a very happy birthday wish to Don Sperling uh Don’s birthday yesterday so lots to celebrate as we get the win Giants get the win 45 only got Al the last time we returned an opening halftime kickoff touchdown good job Don happy birthday we’ll see you next week for Shan oara I’m mine Burke thanks for watching Giants postgame live brought to you by hack M and health
