[Music] welcome into Giants postgame live brought to you by hackin sack Meridian health keep getting better my name is mateline Burke alongside the Super Bowl champion ammani tumor it’s week 14 the Giants are back at MetLife Stadium hosting the New Orleans Saints but it was the saints that came away with the 1411 win a game that came down to it ammani Graham GNA in position attempting a 35 yard field goal to tie the game and send it into overtime it’s blocked by Brian breaze and that’s curtain 1411 would be the final score yeah I mean you look at this game and you one thing that you got to look at this Giants team they fought from the opening all the way to the end didn’t have as many mistakes as they did in past games but towards the end when they absolutely needed it to get themselves back in the games forced us to overtime unfortunately the special teams did not hold up but this team full of players that nobody’s they’re getting an opportunity to play for the first time some of these guys and you they came out and played very very hard a lot of these guys are scratching and clawing for their NFL careers and you saw hunger uh one things you haven’t seen that much from from the Giants but now they’re going out there this is a team that’s really focused in on trying to do the best they can and and and elongate their careers absolutely and a team full of guys that are trying to make the most of the opportunities they’re given as you mentioned the Giants are banged up right now they have just one remaining captain that is healthy of the five captains that started the season either healthy or still on this roster uh and the way that this team looked today you know it seemed reminiscent of the last game in week 13 on Thanksgiving where the offense kind of found a rhythm late in the game you know you look at the way that the Giants were moving the ball down the field in the later part of the game what is it about the way that they finally started to get into flow but just seemingly ran out of time well I think Drew lock has a much firmer uh a grasp of what going on in the two-minute drill and I think that’s kind of clears everything up for him the def simplifies the defenses because they’re not able to really game plan it it’s just you kind of line up and go it’s more of a backyard football when you’re playing this two-minute drill a hurry up offense and I think that’s where he really exceeds He’s Able he’s able to show his athletic ability and distribute the ball around to the different Playmakers and and leak neighbors had had a fine game as well yeah it’s tough too because a lot of the injuries especially on this offensive line we’ve seen that being so depleted today we had Josh isud and Evan Neil starting at the tackle position John Michael Schmid the center goes down and you see the pressure that Drew lock is under not just pressure but it seemed like a lot of times throughout the game balls were getting tipped at the line of scrimmage when he was attempting a pass yeah sometimes if you know if you’re not going to get home as a defensive lineman usually they’ll try to raise their hands and try to affect the throw and I think that happened a lot also John runan Jor is another person who had uh went down for a little bit during this game so this team is they’re fighting and and that’s one thing that you got to give credit to Brian dable the fact that this team regardless of the situation how Bleak it does look in terms of their you know being mathematically eliminated from the playoffs they’re out there doing everything they can not only to try and fight for the the the name on their jerseys but also they’re trying to elongate their careers and this is a perfect opportunity for a lot of players who ordinarily don’t get a chance to play to show and highlight what they can do and I think it’s uh it’s good to see that these guys are out here fighting absolutely they’re fighting for it they’re putting in the work just wasn’t enough for the win today 1411 is a final score but for another perspective on this game let’s send it down to the field where Paul dintino and Brandon London are standing by with more guys okay madlin thank you so much and Brandon for the second straight week as Drew lock was inserted in as the starting quarterback for the Giants he brought them back into fourth quarter within one score with a chance to at least tie or perhaps even go ahead you never can tell and the Giants found yet another way to self-destruct yeah Paul uh Drew lock got comfortable in the second half started getting the ball to his weapons you see Malik neighbors out there gutting out that injury trying to make plays for this offense Drew lock did a great job not only with his arm but using his legs to try to extend plays and put this Giants team in position to get their first home win unfortunately Paul it’s another another game where you’re going to look back at the tape and you’re going to say we should have had it should have could have would have doesn’t get you uh wins in the NFL show the chance get a block field goal to preserve the lead and the Victory but how about the Giants getting some guys deep on the depth chart guys like Trey Hawkins who has an interception today only the giant second one of the season and of course Casey roders defensive lineman comes up in the practice squad and he winds up with a block field goal himself yeah when you hear words like or phrases like meaningless games that’s for Twitter that’s for the online talk say that to uh Elijah Garcia say that to Casey Rogers say that to guys who they’re getting their opportunity to not only put their their their skill set on tape for the Giants but for maybe other teams out there in the NFL guys are playing for their livelihood and you saw some of the second Team guys come up and make some plays Trey Hawkins with the first interceptions since week one all right now we have to address the defense because let’s face it they only gave up 14 points and in most weeks that’s going to win your ball game but I’m sure that when they look at the film they’ll be upset with that 98 yd touchdown Drive in the half the sixth time this year they’ve given up a touchdown Drive of at least 90 yards yeah that’s something that they’re going to have to clean up as the the the the uh the the season goes on but when you say something like Dexter Lawrence is going to be out for the rest of the season you’re wondering where that production or that stop this in the middle was going to come from Elijah Garcia Casey Rogers in company the D line held up Brian Burns still tried to play as as hard as he could with the injury Kayon Tibido showed up registered a sack as well the defense played until the the final whistle or the or the the final uh uh the 0000 in the clock Paul so defensively they showed up and tried to do what they could do to give this team a chance to win the game and you know everybody came in and said that Alvin camar is likely to have a huge game on the ground but they did contain him and remember with so many backups in the front seven on defense that was not an easy thing to do and I thought that was certainly a step forward yeah it’s something that I know people are going to look at us and like hey you guys are trying to put I guess lipstick on the pig but when you go into the locker room and you go into the film room and you’re watching this game as a team and you’re trying to build on things for not only the next game but possibly the next season as well these are things you can hold your head high on because it’s like okay okay we know what can work we know what guys or what personnel we can use going forward you just want to see them elaborate and get a w off of their efforts all right final thought the Giants contrary to popular belief are actually one of the bottom third in terms of most penalties in the league they don’t have a ton but they come at the wrong times they wind up losing a kick return on a touchdown call back they also get a field goal called back critical penalties at the worst times and and unclutch is the only word I can use and those are the things that hurt when you fight your butt off you want to put yourself in the position to win a game penalties and special teams errors are going to hurt you and we saw that today all right that’s a look from the field let’s go back upstairs to mateline thanks so much Paul Totino Brandon London great stuff from the field perspective of the Giants 1411 loss to the visiting New Orleans Saints in week 14 we’ve got more to come so stay with us but first Giants fans it’s Moody decode risk unlock opportunity you can learn more at moodys.com after the break we’re going to Oney rushing touchdown by Tyrone Tracy Jr you want a touchdown who do you call to you call Tyrone Callum Callum welcome back to the show it’s Giants postgame live brought to you by hackin saac Meridian health I’m Matan Burke here with Super Bowl champion ammani tumer and the two-time Super Bowl champion Carl Banks Carl a tough one here week 14 the Giants lost to the visiting Saints 1411 we talked a little bit about you know the injuries to this team but the defensive side of the ball in recent weeks we’ve talked about you know the effort that you wanted to see from them and such today you know Trey Hawkins the rookie has an interception the Giants first takeaway since week one Brian Burns gets a sack on Derek Carr a quarterback that is sacked fewer than once per game and the Giants first sack since week 10 what kind of energy did you see from this defense I I literally take my hat off to those players and that coaching staff because they finally figured it out right Alvin CRA is probably better than the last three backs they faced right and they did a heck of a job and it started with tackling right now you think about I I was joking with art Stapleton up in the Press Box he said we always knew the problem was Dexter Lawrence and Bobby O car not if they’re out there playing better right but no it’s just they they they got the right scheme going and they were doing it with Patchwork like these were the misfit toys as Howard would say and they were able to get it done and so I think it was the effort it was the the plan but these guys executed and that is what you know I was most proud to see from a a group of guys some of these guys had never played in the Pro Football game so so um this was this was a commendable effort all game long and um you know it it just ended in typical 20 24 fashion though you know just when I keep talking about valuing possessions right and you get three special teams Miss cues that literally cost the game but you get a guy who gets a penalty for body slamming right and then the next opportunity they get the probably the same guy jumps over the line of scrimmage and um he blocks it so get a touchdown call back off of a big return on special teams also but listen Drew lock wasn’t perfect and uh but he was Scrappy he was resourceful and the whole team did it and I I can’t say that this was a a bad coaching effort because I think given the hand they were dealt team was prepared um they made the best of what they could and kept themselves in it until the very end and then they just didn’t finish the deal yeah a block field goal away from sending it to overtime right there yeah I mean if you’re looking at this game and seeing you know with the Personnel that they had like at the end of the game you have no time left on the clock and I have an opportunity to tie with a field goal I think everybody on this team would have signed up for that sure and I talk what you were saying like the fact that these guys you talk some people playing their Super Bowl playing their their opportunity to play in the NFL for the first time and show what they can do they’ve been practicing for all all year and it showed this team played with a lot of fire a lot of tenacity and they never gave up you know and throw the records out throw everything out this team actually came out and and showed some type of effort that they I wish they would have shown for the majority of the year but I’m just glad it’s here now well and the guys that’s stepping in too I mean Dexter Lawrence a Powerhouse in the middle you got Elijah Chapman playing disrup who’s a third of his size and is very disruptive that’s impressive yeah it is and listen again you know you can blame a coaches for a lot of things but today they got a group of kids that were banged up offensive line defensive line defensive backfield linebacker and they just figured out how to keep him in the game and play and look JW loock was driving me nuts right because he was holding the ball sometimes he was not hitting his reads but when he needed to make a play he made a play and those guys came through same with Malik neighbors he had the one on the sideline I’m like boy he should have caught that comes back and puts him right back in range to to win the game so they fought their tails off absolutely absolutely all right but there are no moral victories no moral victories and it’s still one in the Lost column as the Giants continue to sort through the 2024 season and uh keep on trucking but we’ve got more to come we’re going to continue breaking this game down but first want to remind you guys head coach Brian D we’re waiting on him to head to the podium we we’re going to take a listen of what he has to say about this one as soon as he steps there back to Giants postgame live brought to you by hacken sack Meridian health keep getting better meline Burke hanging out with amanii tumor and Carl Banks after the week 14 loss to the New Orleans Saints here at MetLife Stadium 14- 11 was the final scor as head coach Brian dble heads to the podium to address the media let’s take a to listen to what he has to say it’s a disappointing game came down there to the end with a blocked field goal jumped over the guard got the penalty the other field goal that took three points away and uh punt returned call back um had too many penalties obviously disappointing disappointing outcome thought the guys that played um a lot of the young guys did some good stuff um they they battled you know it’s a disappointing disappointing outcome of the game it’s a tough one what did you see on the Block I mean the block yeah jumped over kubis it looked like you know he finished the play before got called on it and uh you know we changed up a little bit of our technique based on how they were some of the stuff they were doing with their rushes um you know knocking the guy’s arm out and doing things like that so you know GOI I thought did a good job um you know trying to make sure that didn’t happen um so then they called the one you know that took three points off the board and get down to the end of it and they you know they jumped over them made a play how similar was that to the one earlier in the year when you guys like the I’d have to look at it Jordan I know we we changed up a few things um to try to go against what they did on their field goal Rush team and um you know got to take take a look at it you know but that’s what I saw right on the kubis on on the penalty that took the points off the board is that is that just a lack of discipline there what what did you see there I saw him try to finish a play I mean these guys are rushing down the middle of him and he’s just trying to finish and they called The Penalty is that do you look at an experience in that situation for him as a player knowing that yeah once they called The Penalty on them then all of a sudden you guys kind of back off a little bit Yeah well I wouldn’t say we backed off I mean we were you know they made they made a nice play I mean he he finished a guy on a field goal that was trying to run through him and they called The Penalty so so that was in your mind that was not a la that wasn’t that wasn’t him doing a little extra thing yeah I’m not I’m not going to say that and that’s that’s what they called GES defensive line today yeah bu own draft the free agents guys who haven’t played reps obviously look at the match of going with Cho you had to be concerned and those guys seem really playy you know one off talk about those guys in front yeah they battled I’m proud of them um you know the four of those guys and they you know they were in there took this one hard they were they were battling they got an opportunity again we did a few different things defensively you know front wise and try to mix things up on them uh you know those guys battled I’m proud of the way those guys competed ran were you aware of the plane that flew over before pregame uh there was a chartered plane similar to 78 that was imploring John to fix the mess kind of thing did were you aware of that pregame at all no that at all what do you think when you hear that that there’s a plan that said you know Mr Mara please fix this dumpster fire yeah I I would say look we’re you we won two games so not happy either Brian uh first half that scrambled by lock where he scrambled right into double coverage essentially afterwards if the the camera’s caught you saying you have to run straight like is that what you said and how would you evaluate Drew Lock’s performance today I’ll go back and look at it uh I think the play you’re referring to was third down so um you know just trying to make sure we know where the sticks are and get the first down and get a new set of downs what’s the point of putting Tommy in for that one snap we had a few plays for for Tommy um this game we only got to the one it happened to be a kind of Zone read but it wasn’t just all Zone reads it was there was a few plays in there why was it Malik more involved in the first half I think he only had two Targets yeah again we we try to we try to get everybody involved I don’t think we had three catches right or three completions in the first half so well why was the passing game so difficult to do you know until really the last couple of drops I mean I think we had some drops um you I don’t know how many I think obviously could have done a better job in in you know certain areas whether it’s protection reads throws calls whatever may be it’s a it’s a collective thing just put it on me Brian what’s your message to the team now in this final stretch here yeah just just disappointed after this game they I thought they battled their their tails off I was uh I was proud of the way they compet it um and we came up short and it’s tough you know we put everything into it and you lose a game there at the end and plent there’s plenty of plays that that that could have made a difference um but it came up short right for the fans who were calling for a sweeping change like flying those planes over um what would be your argument against what they’re calling for what would be your argument for staying the course here yeah I’m I’m I’m disappointed we have two wins Pat so we’re just going to keep on grinding it out and um try to keep developing these young players and you know get ready to play a great team next week does that embarrass you that that that would happen over the stadium today yeah look I’m just I’m disappointed we lost this game anything else all right that sound from coach Brian D is brought to you by your local Ford Stores Ford is proud to be the official truck of the New York football Giants as we heard coach da talking about the loss to the Saints 1411 is the final score one thing that it seems every week he’s asked about is the usage of Malik neighbors and whether it’s uh him getting enough targets early on in the game neighbors of course 75 receptions through his first 10 career games is a high Mark is a record setting Mark he had another three catches today but Carl when you look at the way that the Giants are using him him you know in a in a sense it kind of changes the way the offense looks in in a different picture well yes and I’m going to give you a defensive perspective and he can give you the real perspective right but if he’s your main guy and I’m defending or my team is defending I’m going to give him all the attention because you know they’re going to try to force feed it to him right so the likelihood of success won’t come until you start to give other receivers to football and now you can take some attention away but early on if everybody knows they’re going to feed it to him he’s going to be the most wanted man on the football field but you know receivers want the football so he can tell you a little more about that than than me yeah on top of that it’s like you’re as your receiver you’re not always going to get the ball like this is part of the game this is not about just him there’s a lot of things going wrong especially on this Giants team let alone this Giants offense so for him to kind of not understand that uh after there he’s got an you know he’s broken a record on how many balls and to be fair it’s not coming from him it’s coming from you know outside voices or you people covering the team wondering why yeah I’m just saying like overall the overarching thing as a receiver I’m looking at this young guy and I’m saying like he is a very talented guy you know but this isn’t College you’re going to have to kind of get in where you fit in when you get an opportunity you take advantage of that opportunity much like a lot of the guys did today on the field so it’s not about like you got to be more pliable you got to be more understanding ing of the situation you won two games this year out of 10 and now you want to be part of the solution not part of the problem you don’t want to be a guy that’s taking away energy you want to be bringing energy to the table being a positive influence on the rest of your team you don’t want anybody looking saying oh is he going to be mopy now because he’s not getting the ball you just got to get you got to get him um it’s it’s about being young but I don’t necessarily think he’s moping but you know what Amman I’m I get where you’re coming from because we’re both Team guys right he’s in a situation where and just similar to you when you came into this league you didn’t lose a lot yeah throughout your your Sporting Life and he’s you know he came from a high level program so he doesn’t want to bring himself down to that and I think he’s a good teammate right and I I don’t knock him for a season like this I don’t want to be like the rest of the guys I want the guys to be like me yeah and I think I think talking to him he’s a very mature young man he’s got a great leadership personality I think he has a selfless perspective from what he has said but yeah of course he wants to get the ball in his hands cuz he wants to make plays to help this team win yeah I mean he wants to prove himself I get that and I understand that he’s had a phenomenal rookie season yeah as rookie Seasons go they call you a rookie for a reason because the bar is a little bit lower because you’re changing into a whole different atmosphere but now you’re got to indoctrinate and gra gratiate yourself with the rest of the team and I don’t know all I hear is like I Hear What I Hear I I want him to be a guy who’s around here for a long time and I know how to do that and how you do that is not being the guy that wants the ball all the time that you know losing a game and talking about how many targets that he got that it could be misconstrued as you get older it’s not going to get better it could get worse so I feel like this is an opportunity for somebody to get to him and say hey look this whole team is struggling we need to kind of work on Solutions and but I mean I like I’m I’m okay I I listen I’m going to respect your opinion because you’ve played that position at a very high level so I’m I’m going to leave it there but I’m I don’t I don’t have a problem with the guy want to be great no I I I totally don’t agree with I don’t I totally agree with you on there I know he wants I’m going to respect perspective because you are the goat in this in this Arena so well we will hear what Malik neighbors has to say about this performance we know that the people covering the Giants want to hear if he’s going to get the ball but Malik neighbors going to be talking after the break stay with us on Giants postgame live brought to you by hack attack Meridian health back with more after [Music] this so many guys were injured and so many guys had a step up from Deep on the depth chart even can practice squad guys Drew lock certainly did everything he could to Rally you folks what does that tell you about at least some of the guys in the locker room we have a lot of depth you know we have a lot of guys on sper that are hungry for the opportunity um and they’re ready to play I mean obviously on defense we played a really good game we had a lot of guys playing on defense that haven’t been playing all year and they played maybe one of our better def defensive performances of the year so um you know just U Testament to those guys and their their uh ability to stay ready Dar that’s Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton the Giants nominee for Walter pton Man of the Year in Amman after you watched the way that he played today it felt like he had uh a little bit of inspiration after getting notified that he was the nominee for that award a very prestigious award he wears the Walter Payton patch on his jersey for the remainder of the season but Darius Leon made some some impressive catches today yeah I think he’s a a phenomenal athlete I I keep wanting him to kind of let his full athletic ability and his I mean he’s quick he’s fast he can catch he has everything you need to be an elite receiver in this league and I’m just waiting for it to happen glad that the Giants have stuck with him allowed him to develop there were some years where they were kind of up and down but I still hearken back to his rookie year when he came on the scene and really shocked it at Auburn showing what he can do with the ball and I would love to see him get the ball in his hands more often because I just think he’s a he’s a really Top Flight guy that’s just waiting to kind of break out of a shell and in conversations this week in the locker room you know talking to him about you know the drops in the receiving room and whatnot and he said Hey listen I understand that’s a problem I know that that’s something I need to work on too he had such a presence about him with the ball in his hand and even the the presence of mind to know hey I need to stretch this out for the first down really protected The Rock today mhm yeah I I uh you know anytime you get opportunity to catch a ball in the NFL it’s special and obviously he takes advantage of most of his opportunities he had what six opportunities today got came down with two um but I don’t know I just feel like he’s a guy that if if he starts playing well it’s going to open up things for not only Malik neighbors for Rob for wand Del Robinson for all the other receivers if there’s more balance right amongst the uh amongst because right now you got 10 targets uh for you got you got a couple you got 10 targets for 11 for Robinson 10 for Tracy 10 for neighbors and uh only six for um for Slayton for Slayton so it’s just one of those things where if we can just spread that out a little bit more I think the the offensive attack attack would be a little bit more diverse well speaking of spreading the ball out let’s hear from another one of the Giants wide receivers rookie wide receiver Mal neighbors is addressing the media oh I mean the defense defense played it well they knew it was coming um you know we just adjusted on the Fly um you know it’s two points so Drew just gave a shot it hit it up it was floating in the air so I mean it just fell in my hands how did you come through the game with your injuries and stuff to be honest I don’t know um I mean it is what it is I don’t think you ever play a football game at 100% you always have something going on but you know if you can get over it help your team try to win so that’s all I was doing just trying to trying to help my team win did you feel though you were at at a point where you could help the team or did you feel Limited in any way um I didn’t feel limited I think I played enough amount of snap um to say I only practiced two days out the week feel like my body was in shape for me to go out there compete um yeah and I think I think I did a all right job going out there I guess to say my body is feeling like this are you searching for answers right now um the answers is in the locker room we just got to put games together um I mean tough loss we just didn’t make the plays that we needed to make on offense um that could have put us in a position to win too many penalties put us back we had you know special team issues pun return that got called back um field go that got called back I mean we win those game we win that game if we don’t have those penalties is a rookie how important was it for you to show the toughness and the grit to be able to play through the hip and the groin to play the full game a a lot of guys might Wilt under that but you’re a dog and and it’s obvious that that was important to you I mean my team needs me I mean they need me they need me out there so I’m willing to put my body on the line and I’m willing to show that that I care about the team I’m put my body on the line for my teammates and like I said just um try to try to get a win try to put wins on tape try to show my team that I’m here um to play at a high level that’s Giants wide receiver Malik neighbors he was listening as questionable this week with a hip injury but he came through he played for his teammates as he says and he had five or receptions for 79 yards including along of 23 on 10 targets we’ve got much more to come as we continue to break down our week 14 game Giants Saints Giants postgame live brought to you by hackin sack Meridian health continues today’s player of the game is presented by HCL Tech supercharging progress the official digital transformation partner of the New York football Giants the player of the game rookie quarterback Trey Hawkins or seconde quarterback Trey Hawkins the thir he had six tackles two passes defensed and an interception it was the first interception for the New York Giants since week one Trey Hawkins is your player of the game brought to you by HCL Tech in week 14 as the Giants fall to the visiting Saints 1411 but for more from the player of the game let’s send it down to the locker room he’s with our Paul datino well Trey you got an awful lot of playing time today and you came up with your first pick of your NFL career in your second season take me through the play I’m sure it had it feel pretty good um it was a blitz play um all credit to Shane Rome calling the play um all credit to the dline uh getting pressure on the quarterback quarterback threw it up well I came down with it the message all week that we heard from the coaching staff was everybody’s got to be prepped for this doesn’t matter where they are on the depth chart so what was the mentality that you took into this game knowing that you were going to have to have more of a load um I just want to build that trust within the coaches and I just want to um I just want to get better every day really um my mentality was I just got to prepare and study and then let the game just let me play the game getting so much playing time today extensive playing time how do you feel you are better now than what you were as a rookie or even earlier this season I mean as a game keep going on I keep getting experienced so um just understanding defense is understanding the OC what he likes to do understanding how dere car plays you know like just understanding the people like so as as I keep getting experience I just keep getting better how much of a mentality were all the backups who had a play today I would assume that all of you guys were kind of high-fiving each other and giving yourself a little extra juice knowing you guys were going to have to step up as a unit yeah we um we I feel like we brought the energy um execution could have been better on my part as well but um yeah I feel we brought the energy that’s Giants cornerback Trey Hawkins the third talking to Paul Theo Mani in his second season in the NFL gets his first career interception big moment for him personally but also for this Giants team because as we mentioned before it’s the first pick that the Giants have had since week one we’re now in week 14 that was a record drought for not having a takeaway on defense so when you’re in a team that is having such struggles in creating turnovers like that I’m sure you feel that throughout the locker room that pressure is there how important is it to just kind of get one of those oh it’s really important especially for the younger players I mean like you said he wasn’t talking look talking about the score he wasn’t talking about the record he was like I’m trying to get better every day I’m trying to get out there and get more experience this you know a lot of people look at the season and say oh well they’re two and 11 they’re you know they’re you know they could be thinking about you know the off season but this team with a whole bunch of young players that are trying to prove themselves this is like an extended uh tryy out extended they’re putting their their resume out there which is their game film and for Trey Hawkins to get an interception in all those pass def defenses it shows that hey maybe this guy deserves more playing time deserves another look and this is what this this time of year is for so they did definitely bring the energy there was a palatable energy about how this team was actually coming out and and and they they had a different look to them they weren’t missing as many tackles they paid more attention to detail now the penalties definitely held them back a little bit but you know in terms of what you’re looking for for a team that’s you know that now you want the coach to the culture that’s not going to have these guys quit and these guys are out there chomping at the bit trying to get a win even though you know from the outside it doesn’t look like it it means much but to these guys it means everything right mathematically eliminated from the playoffs but as you mentioned this is a young team full of young guys that are building individually getting better and getting better as a unit because these guys contct going to be here for a while together and you want to build that and even today you saw them building towards something they were in a position to tie this game late but un fortunately a blocked field goal late in the game and it’s all curtains 1411 is the final score but let’s send it down to the locker room to hear from the Giants kicker Graham G Graham from your Vantage Point could you see what happened on the Block kick at the end of the game um I saw it on film already uh they just executed it well when that’s a as executed as as well as they did it’s hard to stop so um I don’t think you can you know blame our guys at all on that they just they made a a good play you know they got great athletes on their side as well um felt really good off my foot thought I hit a good Ball but you know that’s just it’s a tough play to stop was it more of a penetration that they got or height did did somebody just get a hand up they just I mean did the uh pushing our line down and same thing we did in Seattle you know it’s a it’s a tough play to stop um yeah I mean there’s there’s really nothing much to it they just they made a really good play that’s Giants kicker Graham GNA of course 35 yard field goal attempt that would have tied this game and sent it to overtime blocked by Brian breaze and it’s G know mention hey that’s the same thing that the Giants did in Seattle special teams coordinator Michael gobrial kind of Drew that up and said hey here’s an opportunity to pull the line down and get up and get a block on it and it’s a momentum play for special teams unfortunately it didn’t go in the Giants favor today yeah it’s unfortunate because they played well enough to to actually send this game into overtime even with all the mistakes the points that got taken off the board they kept fighting and the fact that um I I don’t know who to blame and I don’t know if it even matters are to blame the fact that um you know there was a chance to win there at the end of the game and it didn’t happen uh it’s it BL It Go the blame goes evenly upon everybody on this team because you win as a team and you lose as a team and obviously today they came up short absolutely a tough one Graham Gano who had hit a 43 Yer earlier in the day doesn’t connect on the Block field goal late in the game and is a Giants loss 1411 is the final score after the break though we’re going to hear from the Giants quarterback Drew lock heading to the podium we’ll hear what he has to say on Giants postgame sack mid and health mine Burke and ammani tumer breaking down the week 14 game the Giants fell to the visiting Saints 1411 let’s send it down to the podium where quarterback Drew lock is addressing the media just missed some easy ones um it’s one of those uh one of those halfs where you’re going to go back and be frustrated um they’re giving up some stuff and ah man just didn’t maximize the opportunities they gave us um you know as the quarterback and how I feel it’s the classic shooting shooting myself in the foot um on some plays where we had opportunities and didn’t didn’t take him didn’t make him did you feel you left some plays on a field J absolutely especially in the first half um he’s got to be better coming out turn it on a little bit in the second half but uh it’s easy when it’s normal ball when it’s not down trying to come back we not we I I got to be better in that first half what goes through your mind when you get to the point of being able to provide a comeback in the final two minutes and then you see that field goal gets blocked um you know for me it’s yeah whatever that was that was one play and a lot that I felt like I the guy with the ball in my hands you know could have made a difference earlier in the in the first half and and that’s that’s football um but you try to minimize those and I think there was too many of them today what did you see down in the red zone at the end of the game there when you’re trying to score incompletions what were you guys trying to do what you see with their defense yeah um they were giving us a lot of Tampa on that final drive and um flipped a couple guys around in the Huddle put W Del at three Neighbors at The X tried to get a two-on-one on the boundary safety they gave Tampa wandell did a great job of getting around 56 put a low ball to wandell and guy made a good play on that got it down you know the last play it was we got the field goal they’re going to be playing off can’t get tackle and balance if we do we better get up on the ball um so at that point it was that’s Giants quarterback Drew lock as we take a look at the quarterback comparison from today’s game Drew lock Derek Carr the two quarterbacks but it was car saints that came away with the win 1411 was the final we’ve got more to come here on Giants postgame live brought to you by hackin sack Meridian health as we continue to break down week 14 and look ahead to week 15 stay with us we’re back with more after [Music] this let’s turn the page to week 15 the Giants are back at home at MetLife Stadium for a week 15 match up with the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday December 15 15 it’s a 1 p.m game Giants Ravens the Ravens of course on a Buy in week 14 they’re at 8 and5 on the season but before their week 14 by they lost to the Eagles in week 13 and Lamar Jackson’s mother said to him I need to see you run the ball more Lamar so they’re going to be coming into MetLife Stadium with the emphasis on the quarterback tucking the ball and running challenge for this Giants run defense it is it’s always the numbers the way they break down it’s when the quarterback has the ball it the number is kind of even out when the quarterback hands the ball off there’s nobody the quarterback doesn’t block anybody so the defense has the advantage so when the quarterback runs it it just the numbers are so much more even it just makes it that much more difficult for the uh for the defense especially you know the fact that he can work from the pocket now throwing down the field this is a uh he’s going to be a tough cookie and then you got oh by the way you got you got Henry King Henry right stiff arm over here Derrick Henry who’s 30 years old and playing like he’s never been fresher yeah no I mean he’s he’s been phenomenal this year I hope we could put this to rest everybody thinking how the running backs aren’t really needed anymore in the modern NFL because you can see the different running backs around the league really make an impact on the season this absolutely and one of the old adages across the league is hey you got to establish the Run game how do you do that with a running back so it’ll be a challenge for the Giants as they’ve got the Baltimore Ravens coming to town Lamar Jackson looking like he’s on an MVP campaign Derrick Henry looking sharp but the Giants still looking to get it together uh that’s a wrap for our show today though Giants fall to the Saints in week 14 for the Super Bowl champion ammani tumer I’m meline Burke thanks for hanging out with us here on Giants postgame live brought to you by Hack and Sack mury and health keep getting better we’ll see you next week right here on Giants postgame live
