it is the football show Manchester United suffer back-to-back defeats after losing at home to Nottingham Forest 3-2 Saturday Night Football uh Su we praised United in the early impact of Ruben Amarin so how disappointing will this be yeah it will be but I I think Manchester United fans probably know to expect that there is going to be ups and downs um in this season with him him coming in you can see he’s obviously got his way of of playing he’s he’s chopping and changing he’s he’s trying different players in in different positions so that’s always going to take time and even you know after the Everton game when he he spoke they’d obviously won 4-0 but he said we weren’t at our very best it wasn’t Perfection you know up until our first goal Everton were probably the the better side so he’s honest in his assessment of games I think fans will look at that and go yeah I’ve seen the game exactly the same way as as you’ve seen it I like the way that that he speaks and you think given time he’ll certainly get the players playing how he wants play whether that’s getting rid of some players and play bringing players in that he wants or working and developing the players that that he’s got at the moment so I think this was probably always going to happen yeah the fact is not down to him in the majority that they’re now in their lowest position ever after 15 games in the Premier League Amar said uh that the storm will come are we seeing signs of that now is is that what he means yeah we are but I don’t think he’s helped the situation himself I I I I don’t understand why you Dro Marcus rashford after scoring a few goals was it three and two then he drops him against Arsenal away from home plays massia who hasn’t played a game all season away at the Emirates if I’m a man united fan I’m traveling to the EM Emirates against one of our Rivals I want to see our best team I want to see the team that he thinks is capable of winning that game the best team I don’t want to see him tinkering with the team straight away going but I’m trying to find the best positions Arsenal aren’t at the best this season or of being a little bit vulnerable at times and United were on the crest of a wave after that Everton game go there with a with a team Bri briming in confidence and and go and have a go at them I I was really surprised at his team I thought his team at the weekend against Nottingham Forest was bit strange as well of I’m being completely honest I think Nottingham Forest will have been licking the lick lips thinking there’s not really any Pace up front in the team garnacho possibly but as soon as you take rashford out of that there’s no Pace within that forward line it’s quite easy to to squeeze the pitch high up and press them as as much as you want so um I I like this the fact that he’s he’s coming with this system and there is an identity to what he’s doing um there’s a lot of chopping and changing I I understand that you’ve got to try and find something but what you’re trying to find is continuity as well you’re not going to find that by chopping and changing players constantly it might be over a period of seven or eight games where you start to drip players in and out and and work out your best team but he had an opportunity before the Arsenal game to close the gap on the fourth place to Four Points now they’re nowhere near it so do you think he’s written this season off is this it just him learning about his Squad because you said Arsenal with their rival actually if you were a fan of Newcastle Tottenham ful and brenford Bournemouth Brighton you’d be saying actually no we’re man United’s Rivals now yeah quite possibly I think if you if youve read into a lot of articles about ran amarim and people who are know him he is very much single-minded in the fact that the next game is the most important game now I understand that to a certain degree but there’s got to be a an understanding of if you go to Arsenal and win you can close that Gap and the the mindset has to be to to elevate the the player standards and their mentality to we are Manchester United We need to be back on the top table eating at the top table well you they’re going to be nowhere near it doing this this season but they had an opportunity to be close and to to change the mindset of the players and bring confidence back into the squad um yeah I’ve just been a little bit surprised by a few things but maybe he is thinking this year is a learning curve I’ll learn a lot about the squad but the further you finish behind the top four this season the bigger that Gap becomes the harder it is to attract players people from the outside now who you want to sign have to believe in your your project long-term project if you finish in the top top six in around that people will then start to see see shooting little sorts of spurts of of of goodness and go not quite like what he’s doing there that’s very difficult from a a recruitment perspective I think in that first half though against Arsenal they they kept Arsenal at Bay they they made it really difficult for them and they were undone by a couple of set pieces weren’t they so I could sort of understand why he was doing that and why he was trying to see players whether he was going to play different ways against certain teams I I sort of I got that and I think the other positive with that is you know if you’re a player on The Fringe if you’re not getting in you think a new manager’s come in I’ve got an opportunity here you know so I can go in and I can take that that chance and that so you can look at it from both ways but then you’re not getting that continuity you’re not getting there he was talking about you seeing players not quite doing things how he wants them to do it just yet because they’re still thinking about it because it’s not natural to them and that only comes with playing so I I can see both sides of of that yeah we going what are they they they six points off fifth I think something like that add another two points onto Manchester City so not too far May the time frames not this season maybe it’s to January the 1st when the window opens again and he’s deciding who to keep who goes who stays good luck selling players I mean let’s be honest who do you want to who do you want to buy from Manchester United who’s covered themselves in glory this year and then if you are looking if you are going to sell that player and they’ve been the good players well you’d want to keep that player so ahmed’s probably your one player who’s who’s had a good season a solid season I’m struggling to think of anyone else I had man un I heard man united fans somehow the other day saying Anana is having a good season and I’m thinking really is he I think up until his mistakes I think he has I think he’s certainly improved this season like there’s not as many errors and he’s pulled off some really good saves that’s kept them in games I do get that see I I just don’t see it with them don’t you no I look at the Liverpool game at home and I know that they were outdone but I look at some of the goals that even Salah scored I’m looking thinking like have you got beaten at your near post there I I don’t think he makes good saves I think he is literally he is another player on the pitch who you try and protect because he’s not going to save the ball I mean that that mistake the other day is indefensible you can’t you can’t be a Premier League goal keeper and concede a goal right down the middle of the goal I mean he doesn’t even put any swerve on the ball he hits it straight I mean it is it’s a shocking error I mean we talk about Chelsea needing a goalkeeper United have spent what 50 odd million on him he is he’s poor he’s not a good goalkeeper if you want to elevate yourselves and you want to put belief into your Defenders you’ve got to change that goalkeeper he’s not good enough to take united into the top four nowhere near good enough Dan Ashworth we got got that news yesterday leaving his role at the club what did you make of that bizarre after it came through yesterday morning I think I heard it five months um in the job they’d obviously spent a lot of money to get him out of his his role at Newcastle we’ve known him as as one of the best around and that was why Manchester United went to to get him so seems very strange to me um that milon yeah so it’s a lot of money to get somebody out of the the position and and we’ve kept you know it looks like Manchester United are getting behind the scenes sorted from from top to bottom that’s obviously eventually going to then filter down onto the pitch but then just seems like there’s been some sort of breakdown in communication somewhere whether that’s with the new manager coming in difference of opinions and I suppose that’s always going to happen when you’ve got some powerful people in those positions they are going to have disagreement so we obviously don’t know the ins and outs of it but just seemed very strange yeah it’s whether it’s a breakdown in communication between barard or whether it’s uh Jim Ratcliffe whatever it might be whether it’s a different opinion on who the manager was and who who he wanted to bring in we know his ties to to Garett Southgate obviously but um yeah is he going back on garden and leave again must have the best looking Garden say incredible isn’t it his next job will be for The Royal Horticultural Society but uh there wasn’t just the cost of getting him in and now getting him out there was the extension to ten hog and then getting rid of ten hog depends on what uh you read uh value on figure on that including bringing Amarin in 20 million upwards is this inos finding it more difficult than they perceived to go into United and change things around or is this the ultimate pain of the process and that they always knew it was going to be this tough I think it’s mistakes being made again I think you you can you can only look at it that way I mean it’s it’s like a bad player isn’t it and going after 6 months or 5 months we’ve just spent 30 million he needs to go he’s not good enough for Manchester United and you look and think wow I mean the big thing for me is is that if it is an argument or if it is a disagreement is why is he there then surely you have disagreements on things and you come to a discussion but then at the end of the day you both step back from that discussion and go okay what do we want we want the best thing for the football club so let’s work out our differences and work out how this relationship works it’s an expensive mistake to make after that short space of time but it feels like even the tenh har thing we we were all sat here baffled by how he gets an extension after just winning an FA Cup game and then you look at some of the signings they made over the summer um I know United fans are excited by it but I’ve not been impressed one bit Yeah wasted a lot of money haven’t they and the ten hog things seem really strange that when it’s come out that they were looking at other managers other options to then go and give him an extension to then go and give him a lot of money to spend players to spend on players to bring them in and then to change the manager who has a completely different style who’ll want different players and you’ll have to spend more money yeah it doesn’t seem like it’s it’s working very smoothly at Manchester United [Music]
