this guy never even played professional baseball yet still was somehow given a job by the A’s as their Dr the designated Runner he never played the field he never had an that bat his only job was to steal bases that was literally it his name was herb Washington and he was most famous for being a worldclass sprinter because he was so fast and played baseball in high school the owner of the ace thought hey maybe we could use this guy as solely a pinch Runner so in 1974 he was given a contract and sure enough he stole 29 bags but also was caught stealing 16 times his biggest weakness by far was reading the pitcher and it makes sense considering he wasn’t a baseball player
