Brothers like my you know what that I can say is col the Macy’s day parade is tomorrow the the Nicks are hoping that there’s going to be another parade that they are going to get to see in New York all right friends it’s a new era after all the Knicks they’re finding their stride the team scored 145 points on Monday a game where Jaylen Brunson had 23 points a career-high 17 assists making him the first Knicks player with 20 points and 15 assists in a game in 15 years and it’s not just him right the Knick starters they’re averaging nearly a 100 points this season that’s the most by any team this season and it would be the most since season starters were tracked in the early 1970s and this offense it has been rolling baby already scoring at least 130 points three times this season that matches their total from all of last season and all three instances have come in their last four games so when you add all of that up the Knicks are in the top three in terms of title odds for the first time this Century perk you’re the self-appointed governor of New York I I wish I was a joke but I’m I’m serious are you feeling even better about this Knicks team than last year’s hell yeah and and look this is why the New York Knicks have the best duo in basketball and big body Bronson and Carl Anthony towns they’re the most lethal duo in basketball they the best pick and roll duo in basketball and you know the beauty of this it didn’t take them 25 games it didn’t take them 50 games to figure out how to play alongside each other offensively and you know what else is beautiful is watching another guy in that starting lineup OG anobi having having his best season of his career playing alongside of those guys averaging 19 points shooting about 53% from the field so at the end of the day if you’re asking me this are the Nicks better than what they were last season at this point hell yeah and it’s solely because of the chemistry offensively between Carl Anthony towns and jayen Bron and I’m going to focus in on one of those guys Carl Anthony towns because when cat joined the squad the two words I said was Don’t Panic Don’t Panic a lot of those numbers were swirling around about the rim protection and the defense it takes a while for guys to Jael and now we see that the Knicks their ceiling is through the roof is that the fairest phrase or whatever they call it it’s don’t make fun of me the point is is that offense their offense their ceiling has raised if you look at the numbers they’re the fourth highest scoring team in the NBA second in the NBA and field goal percentage and three-point percentage did you know that the Knicks they’ve never finished top five in both of those two categories so this is a team that has made their bread and butter for a very long time defensively now their offense is through the roof and then the balance is a little bit better and lastly I’ll say this Richard that was a great show open but I’d like to say in halulu I was 1-0 had 18 points and we took down number one b so we did good job and you know what you deserve that credit we were three and0 but 1 and0 is awesome I I I respect that anyways back to what we were talking about this ear back to what we were talking about the Knicks are a very good team and when you look at the East the East is struggling but look at what they their success that they had last year their defensive numbers were great their offensive numbers we talk about how great their offense is their offensive ranking is very similar to what it was last year last year there it was they were third this year they’re second so when we talk about car Anthony towns and helping the offense yes he’s done all that but defensively 14th I need them to get to a top 15 I need them to get to a top 10 defense paired with that offense now we’re talking about a championship level team to it’s hard to win a championship if you are 23rd or in 20 or below that’s not me that’s NBA history I understand the history but what did you start your segment your your segment off by saying two words be patient they’re not even healthy yet right and you’re talking about bringing back your defensive anchor and probably what the next month or so and and uh Mitchell Robinson and the luxury of having call Anthony towns is his ability to space the floor so now you can play those two guys together and now you have athletic big that can anchor that defense and be the rimp defense needs to improve no it does it will it will all I I like the Knicks they improve that they’re good don’t panic is just going to be the motto this one and this one might mean a little bit more for Jaylen Brunson right being back in Dallas where he spent his first four NBA season his offensive play it has skyrocketed since moving to New York he’s the only player to average 25 points and five assists in Knicks history Luka he’s missed four of the Mavs last five games but they’ve done pretty well in his absence this season they’re three- one when he’s not in the lineup compared to seven- seven when he plays now please don’t twist that into saying that anyone would think that he is better without a guy who averages 3410 and nine last season that is not the case go ahead rich my thing is I think everyone on this panel would agree that this is the best team that Luca donic has ever had over the course of his career the best balance the best uh cast this is the best but this is not the best version of Luca donic that we have seen if you go and look at his numbers statistically across the board they are either the worst of his career or second worst compared to his rookie season so when we talk about a star player getting the best team of his career coming off the NBA finals where it looks like the team says we can invest in you but look at these numbers these are the worst numbers of his career 28 points a game since 2021 assist per game since 1819 fi gold percentage so just down the line his numbers are a career low so when I see a player have the best team he’s ever had assembled and I see across the board low numbers I need to see what version of Luca donic we’re going to get back before I start talking about where the Dallas Mavericks are because Talent is there low numbers for him like when you’re looking at some of yeah those are still but Dallas has found something without him in the lineup so what is it that they can build on when he comes back well it’s you you talk about you know this is the best team that we see that Luca has had does Luca realize that and I think this is an opportunity with him being sideline to see what others are capable of doing so that when he does come back he’s not dribbling the oxygen out of the damn basketball he’s like oh PJ Washington we can run the play for you and you can do your thing you know I think those are the things you learn when you’re injured as a star player to trust in others yeah and what got the Celtics over the edge last year in the NBA Finals is that they finally found balance and harmony with their offense being able to score in the paint more importantly hit you with that barrage of Threes that’s where the Dallas Mavericks have to find out 57% of their points are self-created while that’s great individually they’re going to have to find a balance on both ends right [Music]
