day fifth on boxing day I know you’re probably looking Beyond The League table at this stage of the season but you did taken this position at the start of the campaign wouldn’t you yeah absolutely um decent star for us um nearly or approaching the halfway stage if you like um with with everything to everything to play forward and in the second half of the season and if we’ been off with that like you say during the the preseason or the offseason we’ absolutely taking it looking ahead to to 2025 if you had putting your Christmas League in right now what areas of improvement do you want to see from your team in in the second half of the season um remain sort of consistent with what I’ve said really we I think we can get better in every in every area um and I imagine most managers would say that would say the same thing around around the teams there’s stuff we’ve done we’ve done well um and got more consistent and there’s still stuff that we can definitely um definitely improve upon um and that’s the challenge challenge for everyone it’s not a case of um not so much rest on your laurels but understanding that there’s definitely more to come from the group and how we get the most out of each other um to better each other dayto day it’s a really obious busy period coming up the most intense period of the the season we’ spoken about the players that I suppose on the edge of the first team right now about them maximizing their opportunities that’s going to be more more important than ever over this this particular period isn’t that yeah you would say so um again ideally from our perspective you’d like to have continuity with the with the team selection but um the reality is you’d be very lucky to be able to do that and get the same um same output in terms of what players can produce there’s certainly five games in a in a short space of short space of time and for those five um really really tough games so um got to make sure that we’re as fresh as we can be whilst still doing everything we can to pick up pick up points say maximize the opportunity that’s that’s in front of us in that regard obviously we spoke about the benefit of having that that Friday night game in terms of the atmosphere edely out but how much have you benefited from the the extra day of preparation as well uh I I don’t think it’s an extra day of preparation I think it’s an extra day of of recovery uh and even if it’s an extra 12 hours then it’s beneficial um I think we we’ve come through the game with unscathed in terms of um injuries and listen we’ve got people that are carrying little bits as you would expect at this time this time of the year having played in the instances I’m talking about the majority of games that they have um but it just allows you to I suppose have a little bit of downtime make sure we recover properly um we were in on Saturday after the game which again we did a pool session and it was a a relax and recover more than anything else than a Sunday off we’ve OB been back at it today more of an introduction we’ll do um the majority of our work um on on Christmas Eve um and look forward to like I say what it’s a a tough trip but one that we’re really looking forward to unboxing there what I’m sure will be a a bumper crowd um a great atmosphere um and a real good test for us I cat not ask you about Louis Barry and the news of his recall coming up in January um sounds obvious but how big a blow is that to to you to to be losing him um it’s as big blow as you want to make it isn’t it that’s the that’s the there’s truth of it like I said I think over the the time I’ve said that there’s there’s enough from my perspective um to concern myself with that we’ve got control upon um without letting the things that you have less control upon were here um so Lou’s been great he started the season fantastic for us um he’s got the obviously the three games coming up over the Christmas and and New Year period before he goes back to to Aston Villa and then and then again another sit situation that we’re out of control of we’re not sure what will happen happen beyond that but um it just means that we again we have an opportunity within the window to either change a little bit um in terms of personnel and shape that we can play with which we have the ability to do um opportunities for other players within the current Squad that that we have um to step into into that role or the opportunity to re reshape the squad during the during the window all of which are are open to to us and we’ve probably got a little time to decide the way we we go about it but in terms of how how we go about things we we’re always going to prepare for um I suppose the worst case scenario so um although you you don’t want to preempt things you always expecting things to things to happen and when you’ve got lone players in the the likely is if they do well then um the reality of um there not being speculation or movement around what they’re doing um is is very very minimal um so regardless of what happens we we’ll use Loop over the next three games to try and like I say maximize the opportunity that’s in front of us um and then we’ll see what happens beyond that assum the benefit though of having this Clarity early on is that it does allow you now to almost cut the noise out draw a line on under it and and fully focus on on the three games that was that was the that was the important important bit for me um and listen that there’ll still be speculation around on what can happen I’m not into too much detail around what the what the plan is for for Louie and I don’t want to um give anyone um unrealistic or false hopes no one knows whether he’s going to end up back here or not um that again that’s something that’s a decision to be made by other other people not not this football club um but we we see where we are what we what we’ll have to do is and will do is prepare um as if that’s not going to be the case and look at what we need to do over this window because um even with our with our Squad that are Lads uh within our group that ideally from our perspective need to go out and play regular football over the second part of the season um in order for them to um I suppose have the opportunity in the stage to go make the type of impact that Lou’s made on loan here um so if we can make that happen um and give them a platform to get some regular football and get into a Groove and make them more of an impact here either further down the line within the season or um as we look further into next season then we’ll obviously try and do that that then means that there’s a potential of things coming in and the squad looking like I say a little bit different because what we got to do is make sure make sure we we maximize the starts of the Season that we’ve have for ourselves in a in a good place um but we’re not even halfway through it’s important now that um when the window shuts at the end of January we’ve enough quality and enough in numbers to go and have real push in the second half of the Season lots of positives to take from Friday night many of which you’ve already covered with John but great to see Kyle no out there at the end of the game as well as as he come through that okay and how slowly will you need to go with with him as suppose as he comes back yeah norly fine um again we probably thought the most would get up 20 30 minutes and um obviously with with macka coming back um it’s one that we have to keep an eye on so it’s it comes at a really really good time for us uh I suppose from from my perspective and from a a staffing perspective we got to be a little bit careful with him because he been for a long time um I would love the opportunity to be able to to put him in because I think he’ll be I say important for all as his versatility and knowing what we we do um can have a b big impact in in our Squad and in our team but um as I said probably a couple of weeks back you’d hope that by the middle to the end of January hopefully the middle of January we’ll be at a point where we could really um commit to having him play backto Back Games if that comes before that and we have a situation like we did with with macka and with with ryell um no’s worked really really hard in the period that he’s been out of the out of the out of the squad and out of training in order to make sure he’s in great shape and and he is that but he needs his sharpness um he’s a couple of weeks of full training um now he just needs the m match minutes hopefully we get a chance to to integrate him slowly and he can have an impact on the team just focus on boxing day uh a big test feel un beating in 11 League games now but I guess you must view this as similar to the birming game and in terms of a great opportunity to go and see where you’re at I suppose really against one of the the best teams in the league yeah I I think slightly different to the Birmingham game um because as I said previously um I see those games against that team is a bit of a one-off uh in terms of what you what you’re coming up against um but Birmingham uh sorry Huddersfield now are in a position and having a type of run that you thought that they would have having been relegated from the for the championship last season as with everything I suppose you carry momentum into different ways into the start of the Season we carried the the I suppose the habit of winning football matches coming into this season um Huddersfield had the disappointment of what last season was and um a sort of fresh start in a in a different division they took a little bit of time to to sort of find their their groove um but they have now and I’ve got like say got themselves on a on a really good run regardless of whether they’re on a good run or not um going there at any point in the year is going to be really really difficult um again I wouldn’t have any other way that we go there on boxing day I’m sure that makes the the crowd an even bigger crowd a brilliant atmosphere and and a brilliant um environment and an atmosphere for for our players to go and show what they can do in um and something we’re really looking forward to just finally it’s the last we here of year before Christmas do you have a a message for the supporters that’ll be traveling to support you over the over the festive period um yeah with my um shocking voice at this part of the year which is nothing nothing new um now I suppose there’s as the Christmas period comes around and the the year comes to an end um it’s from my perspective on behalf of everyone at the club especially the the players and the staff um to obviously thank them for their their support over over the last season which was a fantastic season for us and and the start of this season um and we hope that 2024 can finish off in a really really positive light for us um and we can start 2025 in in really good Vin um it’s a time time of year where everybody undoubtedly will enjoy themselves um and hopefully we make the they enjoyment a little bit um a little bit merrier in terms of the performances we can put in and hopefully um pick some points up away from Edge the par before we return there um to face bming win a brilliant brilliant game on New Year’s Day appreciate you sound dve great CHR cheers thank you
