effectively plain watching season in the next 48 hours Juan SoDo will have made his decision he is going to be signing a contract and we are going to know where he’s going to be playing baseball for potentially the rest of his career and good news for us ronal Blue Jays fans is that we are absolutely one of those top finalists one of those top suitors so we got some big time updates about wota we were actually live earlier today like 12 hours ago less than 12 hours ago and there’s been so much stuff between then and now that has come out about this situation that we’re going to talk about also some news surroundings some former Toronto Blue Jays happy and also kind of sad which we’re going to break into and of course we’re going to be taking your questions as they come we’ll be also answering some stuff from the mailbag should be a very good Friday night to kick off what I’m going to be Loosely referring to as the Juan SoDo weekend it’s SoDo weekend guys absolutely happy SoDo weekend everybody and as you can see we got our Juan SoDo bottle over here and our Corbin Burns bottle over there you know just some of the biggest free agents that the Blue Jays have been rumored in let’s get into it yeah let’s flash over to to the biggest update of the day everybody John Haymon he was on I think it was MLB Network and he was talking about just everything SoDo everything free agency and he dropped what I would refer to as being a pretty big Hyman bomb here he was saying that every team that is in the mix right now other than the LA Dodgers so that’s the Mets that’s the Blue Jays that’s the New York Yankees and that is the Red Sox sh didn’t think you the person that just subscribed every one of those teams right now has an offer on the table for $700 million or more yeah know I mean it’s fair to to chuckle at that because it is actually [ __ ] insane when you think about you know woto being one guy on the field of you know in a lineup of nine guys and then you know you also got your pitchers and your Bullpen and everything $700 million or potentially more than that committed to one one player and there are four teams that are willing to do that right now that is just ludicrous guys like when we were talking about the $700 million mark it was just more of like a oh that will be the number that kind of puts him over the edge but there’s been reports out there I think it was Jeff passen talking about with Buster only they were discussing well we could easily see this number get up to 750 and literally I made a skit joking about that 750 Mark and I was like nah like I’m put it in here just cuz of how ridiculous it is n like if the BL like for Blue Jays for example if they want to win the sweep Stakes it has to be 750 now it feels like and I don’t even know if that’s enough at this point well right because you know you’re getting to that point of ridiculousness where you know before if you had maybe only one other team that was like in the mix here at at 700 or more million dollars then maybe 750 would be okay maybe maybe you could do that but with four other suitors are you telling me that one of those guys isn’t going to be willing to come and match you you know like maybe maybe you cut out like the Red Sox maybe you cut out the Yankees but you know Steve Cohen like he sees the Finish Line just as much as we see the finish line here we’re 48 hours away from this guy deciding where he’s going to want to go you know are is he going to let 20 more million dollar stop him from getting a generational Hall of Fame player like it feels like because we’re in the end game because you know there is all four squads right now like no one’s going to want to bow out yeah I was hoping at this point for the Blue Jay’s sake my little hope that I do have I was hoping that it be like one other team I hope it be it would be us in the Mets over 700 okay we might actually be able to winance here the Yankees are still in the Red Sox are still in it and they have uh you know I’ve heard some like a couple tweets here and there coming from MLB insiders just saying like those guys the Red Sox in the in the and the Yankees feel like they’re lesser of a likely odds that they’re going to sign but they are still they’re kind of in their like final offer stages right right well actually we have a tweet I thought or not a tweet trade I want to get to that in a second but before we do that like I hear what they’re saying you know and I get it but that whole conversation of oh well the Yankees like you know they’re scared of spending money and getting over that $300 million luxury tax and all that [ __ ] I mean that’s bull right because they’re already here at $700 million like they’re they’re in that conversation so I think anybody saying it’s like yeah like they’re they’re not really in the race they just went to a World Series with this guy and they’re offering him $700 million so like I’m not I’m not discounting the Yankees or even the Red Sox for that matter at this point no not at all right and again like kind of circling back um you know Red Sox are hoping for an additional meeting with SoDo this came out uh yesterday the last night that it came it kind of got swept under the rug because there was so much other stuff and we have a couple other kind of news later on in this podcast other than woto guys that we’re going to bring up about the Toronto Blue Jays because it all is getting swept into the rug right now it’s just stto everywhere but this one got swept under the rug and it’s interesting because they basically to sum it up here they told wot to look whatever offer you get that’s big and you think you want to take it come to us one more time and let us know your price tag and we will and we’ll see if we can match it so it feels like it’s at that point right now like teams like the Red Sox and even the Yankees were hurt as well that they’re having one last kind of final offer now I think that Yankee one was actually discredited I think someone actually came out whether it be John hymon and said that never happened but either way it does feel like that’s we’re at that point right now where a couple teams are going to have one last fin final chance to offer to try and beat and if they can’t then they’re out well and I listen I get it right like this is a you know I do this [ __ ] all the time and when we’re playing fantasy fantasy sports you know like I I’ll tell like guy if I’m ever interested in trading for a player I’m like come to me last you know like or like come to me and I’ll match it I’ll match that offer I’ll I’ll do whatever right and obviously you get a big Advantage if you’re the last person to talk to set individual because you know well the number is you know 730 million and if I bump it up to 50 then he’ll sign right here and right now and of course if that’s on the table I’m going to do that right so of course the Red Sox are going to ask for that I would anticipate that a lot of teams are asking woto for that final meeting because you do get a competitive Advantage knowing where all the other squads are at however they were also discussing in that article that from a Scott Boris and a Wan stto standpoint it might be more beneficial to them to keep some of these teams in the dark and to keep them to keep them anxious a little bit you know like playing on their emotions right now but you know you have the timer ticking down to to Sunday night they know when the deadline is and they’re all obviously hearing all these rumors and they’re probably even more connected than than what we are connected right now they’re hearing like even you know more about what other teams were offering I’m sure the anxiety in those buildings right now like it is very high yeah I heard on MLB Network the the theory or not the theory but like the speculation right now is that Juan soda when he does make a decision like he’s not going to like like we’ve been coming to assume that he’s going to like knock off a team and say like you’re now gone and now it’s you guys cuz he still wants to keep the bidding war yeah exactly cuz that doesn’t like from his standpoint that actually doesn’t make any sense right like why would you why would you ever knock out another Squad even if they were offering let’s say the Yankees were offering $500 million right and they’re they’re not really competitively in the race at all well Boston doesn’t need to know that you know so like Boston Boston doesn’t need to know that their offer is you know $200 million less than what they are they just need to you know be thinking in their brain well maybe H Stein Brer is going to beat us out again and I don’t want to have that happen well even think right now like that report that just came out I’ll flashback it for those who are coming in and just missed it the big news like this report right here of being like there’re a lot more teams than just me offering $700 milon like [ __ ] am I going to have to go even higher like that’s the you know okay so that actually begs the question then do you think that this is accurate um or do you think that this is Scott Boris and Juan soda maybe exaggerating just actually now I’m think it’s got to be accurate because well because if you’re the Boston Red Sox or if you’re like you know the tronto bleach or something and you you know you’re off for $650 million you’re like wait a second it’s [ __ ] it’s all [ __ ] so it actually it needs to be accurate because then you know if you’re a team that hasn’t done that then you’re going to be like what the hell are you talking about we we haven’t done that at all you know so yeah actually I do think that this is accurate and all four teams are that’s crazy man this is insane this is a wild time that we live in I know it is man man to think that last year when we heard that $700 million or that dollar amount go to sh Otani we were both Blown Away by absolutely that number cuz we were thinking 600 maybe 650 700 was crazy we’re at 700 and he’s like 48 hours or if not more away from signing that number literally could be 800 we weren’t thinking 700 it could be 800 no I know man and when this offseason first start even when the first conversations of stto hitting free agency started the word on the street like at that time it was like oh maybe he could get 450 or maybe he could even push 500 oh man and like so I mean [ __ ] on Scott Boris all you want and I get it like the GU you know he’s kind of slimy you know kind of kind of a bit of a snake and don’t love him either but his method works because you know a year ago no one would have even like if if he would have come to the table and said we want $750 million they would have laughed him out the room and now that feels like the going rate maybe even bare minimum yeah no it’s insane it’s insane so we got to we got to Hope man that uh now transition to the Blue Jays we had a hope that uh they they they still stay in it they still stay competitive but man like if we’re waiting and waiting waiting like I feel like we got to be starting to get on some other guys right now we haven’t heard any updates about like other kind of like bigger guys that the Blue Jays have been in on like Corbin burn since yesterday we got to hope that the Blue Jays are still sticking with it cuz I don’t want to get super distracted right now but I do appreciate that he is signing before the winter meeting so that we can actually get some other moves kind of done no I think yeah exactly like I like what’s happening here and it it is is funny that um Monday is December 9th that is when we did the you know the whole sh Otani debacle came about in regards to the um the plane track and everything like that so it really is like a full circle moment where you know it all the stars are aligning however the the benefit this time is that we are going to be entering into the winter meetings hopefully before he signs and I believe last year that was not the case it was like a few days after yes yeah exactly so like you’ll still have time to Pivot and they are looking at a lot of pivot options we brought up Corbin Burns earlier but I mean you know a couple weeks back like we’ve forgotten about all of the other guys that were being talked about here like they’re still in on Max freed um you know we we heard that they were looking at santon dere and that they were they badly covet santon dere that’s something that you know we haven’t talked about in a really long time I mean tar Hernandez other than the LA Dodgers you know the spot that everyone talks about is the Toronto Blue Jays right so they are going to get somebody big we keep saying that and I know some people want to bury their heads in the sand and you know don’t want to get hurt again and whatever but they are going to get somebody big even if it’s not stto however that being said I still like I think our chances for Wan sto are the best that best that they’ve been yet oh yeah so let’s revisit that actually I wanted to bring this up cuz on our Tuesday stream we had a couple of you guys actually three of you guys ask what is our percentage for juano I think I said 5% I you said 10 I was um you 10% I think I was at no I think I went to 20 you went to 20% okay no you said 10% I said 10% and we met in the middle at 15 okay okay so where are you at right now also while you’re thinking about that quick shout out to Scott bar with the 9.99 Super Chat donation saying okay Adam New York Met more times than not right so I totally get it but I’m I’m trying to distance my emotions to it so I don’t get hurt you know what I mean like I’m watching it I’m observing it we got we got to talk about it if we didn’t talk about Wan SoDo and all these stuff going on with the Jays I think we’d be like the worst Blue Jays podcast out there like how could you not talk about what could be the biggest thing in our history of course right I mean like they’re seriously in the mix actually speaking of I saw somebody in the chat talking about how Shai deidi came out earlier today with a report on this uh and I did read this article he’s you know referring to it again just everything like we’re still in the mix saying that yeah the murky line between legit Contender and useful stalker horse has provided ample reason for for skepticism around the Toronto Blue Jays however all that being said they remain on the short list of teams buying for the franchise altering Slugger Services according to an Industry Source so we are right there and Shai deidi he has been notably not pushing back against this but very skeptical that the Toronto Blue Jays are going to be in on this like he’s always been saying it’s a long shot so when you have you know that guy coming out and Reporting like no they’re still very much in this thing on the short list like this is a real possibility don’t buy the jersey yet or anything like that you know like don’t track the plan you’ll be setting yourself up for failure if you do that however don’t be shocked either if Juan stto does you know end up being a Toronto Blue Jay in 48 hours from now to answer your question about the percentages um I think I broke it down last time saying it’s like oh New York Mets were at like what 40% said 40 yeah um you know which I think is still accurate I’ll still say that they’re at 40% maybe right now I have the ton blue J’s at like 25 I don’t know if we’re that close to the Mets though I I think I think we’re still at 20% I think one in five times he’s going to be it’s Ronald bluej I would say I would creep it up a little bit cuz I said 10 right hey shout out to Dave popes eight Monon member literally said it’s like it’s like rolling a die and hitting six you know that that’s what I think the odds are only a die hitting a six sure right so you’re at one and six I’m at one and five like it it kind of feels like that’s where they’re at right now and that’s enough of a shot right like there’s five teams left one in five six I think that makes sense we got a fair chance we right there in the mix I do think you know you can kind of rule the LA Dodgers out at this point like they haven’t officially been taken out and maybe La fans won’t won’t like it that I’m saying that but you know if there’s four teams that are offing $700 million and you are not one of those teams um it feels like you’re not in the race right now unless of course they’re offering him like a threeyear $300 million deal and they’re just like let’s go win three back to back to back world serieses together and then you can get paid again that’d be actually it’s like okay well maybe he’ll go there all deferred money you know although I I did hear that like he doesn’t want to defer his contract like he wants he wants to get all paid no right I mean like it is actually it’s just beneficial to get the money now like it’s worth less and 10 years or 20 years or whatever sh is a great guy oh yeah for sure also Dave popes uh going back to that thank you for being a member for eight months guys if you want to like hell Steve Cohen a few years ago when he was adding a lot of people did anyone refer to him as doing something big and stupid or did they call it wow this is like the best time in Mets history like this is exciting this is like really great for baseball bring it back to New York Mets no it’s probably more that but because it’s the Blue Jays and we’re a 74- win team it’s like no it’s up get yourself a bigin and stay tuned let’s discuss Danny Jansen a little bit former Toronto Blue Jay there was some hope and optimism after trading him away at the deadline to the Boston Red Sox that well he’s on the last year of his deal Toronto Blue Jays yes they have Alejandra Kirk but you know we still do need a catcher and everybody in that building loves Danny Janson I still remember this very vividly one of the first times meeting uh blue jay’s Insider Keegan mat he went on a long tangent just talking about how when he’s at spring training when he’s in the building no one’s putting in more work nobody’s doing more for the Toronto Blue Jays not even just on the field but off the field as well than Danny Jansen and he was just talking about how valuable he is so there was a lot of Hope among Blue Jay’s fans that well this off season you’re going to bring him back that didn’t happen yeah you’d think that that value he brought was worth at least $8.5 million and look like I think last offseason we started talking about it a lot where we were like well you know there’s simple extensions you got to do as an organization and I we truly thought here that extending Danny Jansen was one of those and it never happened right like we all know he got traded away and then he goes on a one-year deal to the ray that’s per Mark findet it’s been confirmed and Danny Janson will be wearing Tampa Bay Ray colors this season and and I mean excuse me I started to accept it like he wasn’t going to come back once I started to realize like when they were asking Ross Atkins and Mark power not like we can really hold their wordss to any weight like they don’t really have any weight to it but still when they were talking about how they don’t really see a problem with the catching is when I started to actually realize okay you know what maybe they move on from it you still got kirku who played a little bit better at the end of last year and maybe this is one of those things where we just don’t have that Elite catching Duo like we had in the past and it was time to move on that is going to be the case right like a couple years back when you had Moreno and you had Kirk that was coming off of his All-Star season and you had Danny Janson who you know could very rarely stay on the field but when he was on the field you know the slugging was up there with trout and Harper all these like you know it looked like holy [ __ ] like we are stacked at the catching position now after you trade away Moreno which I know we could go on a tangent about that again but after you do that and then Danny Jansen you know he leaves and now Kirk falls off like it is in my opinion an area of need I yes there are other areas that the Toronto Blue Jays need to address first like the bullpen and hopefully getting SoDo and you know everything else but I mean are you comfortable walking into the season with Alejandro Kirk being like the number one like no real backup behind him type of Catcher is is that what we’re doing like I mean if you if you’re thinking about our catchers in the past you’d be like uh yeah not uncomfortable with that but when I look around the league I mean most teams only at one catcher you know one true guy that’s been with the organization for a while Kirk’s been with this team will now be what is fifth or six Fifth Season he’ll be with the team six season in 2020 got called up yeah so he’ll be a six season so it’s like I mean he’s been here for a long long time and defensively speaking he performed a lot better and I don’t need a lot of offense coming out of my I just need enough offense I’m hoping Kirk has a little bit of a bounceback I think he played a little bit better at the end of the year last year look we got to go get the offense elsewhere right I mean whether it be through an outfielder Corner outfielder like a s De Hernandez whether it be like a third baseman or glabar Tores second baseman or h on Kim we got to find that production elsewhere right now and then maybe somewhere down the line we can readdress that issue somewhere right I’m I’m not thrilled about it but I’m not like this is a serious problem because at least we have a guy who’s familiar with the pitching staff and can as we know scen carry the team a little bit yeah you know yeah no I I do agree with you again like it’d be something that I’d love us to address but just a luxury that I guess at this point we don’t have there’s too many other things that need to happen right like if there was uh this year’s version of you know woto but in Catching form on the free agency market I’m sure we’d be in on him absolutely sadly that’s not the case everybody so we’re we’re just going to need to supplement that offense I think elsewhere right Kirk is going to be that defensive first catcher I’m fine with that if he’s and you know I’m I’m a Kirk lover right I love I think you know he he does have potential to get better with the bat but if not then you know I want him batting eighth and I want it not to matter because we’re going to have other guys that are scoring runs remember when Alejandra Kirk was batting like fourth for us that’s what I mean right like that’s just not that’s we can’t be doing that and maybe that’s why I’m thinking it’s like okay well [ __ ] like this is a problem because ultimately yeah you cannot have Alejandro KK batting in the middle of your order if he’s going to performing like he was like if he performs how we did in 2022 okay you know what put him in the middle of the lineup I’m totally happy with that but you know a 677 Ops is not good as your cleanup hitter no no I I don’t know what really happened it it’s funny too guys like Kirk is 26 like he’ll be 26 next year oh he is 26 right now 30 days into his age 20 six year happy bladed there Alejandro but yeah he’s still a young guy like when he had that All-Star season he was 23 years old like we all kind of forget how young this guy is so there’s still hope and optimism that maybe one year he bounces back to that vintage alah HRA Kirk where he works a lot of walks makes a lot of great contact strikes out not a lot and that’ll be good enough for me and the other question is and this might be or maybe even a bigger concern is can you survive a full 162 being the 1A that is that is literally another thing as well it’s just like I don’t I don’t know if he’s got the endurance for that um obviously we could we could spend a long time talking about his conditioning and it does need work like no I’m not I’m not going to sit here and defend him like that’s something that needs to get better right you got to you got to be able to perform at a very high caliber for 162 days and or a game excuse me and especially as a catcher that is extremely taxing and now you don’t have Danny Janson to fall back on yeah obviously we need a we do need a second like but like it’s going to have to be I mean someone was saying in the chat states right or maybe maybe it got all the swing States right then you can give it something um apparently according to poly Market New York Mets are heavily favored to take this with a grain of salt winter especially trading away some of those guys in that middle INF field I’m talking about barer talking about Leo Jimenez I’m talking about maybe Horwitz maybe Clement there’s there’s so many different guys that hold some value and just simply are not going to be getting enough at bats on the Toronto Blue Jays and trading them away especially for a bullpen guy could be the move yeah like we don’t have enough money to just fix our entire Bullpen for this off season like you you have to spend like a billion dollars yeah you got to spend a lot spend wanto money to fix that like no seriously you got to spend like 50 $60 million a year like for aing value to fix his Bullpen and that that’s just not going to happen so you got to get a little bit more creative use the assets that you got maybe trade cuz here’s the thing all the guys out there on Fry right now are older veteran guys maybe you got to get a little more creative and trade away some of your younger guys in the Hesley and Devin Williams are two arms that they’ve expressed interest in now we all know how great those guys are on the Brewers and on the Cardinals however he also says he believes that Camilo Deval is another right-handed or I keep saying right-handed pitcher relief pitcher on Toronto’s radar lots of logs on the fire it appears so they’re looking for someone to go grab now Camila Deval if you’re not familiar he was like coveted as like one of the younger kind of breakout arms in the league and he’s still 27 years old now had a bad year last year with the Giants he had a 488 ER with a whip of 1.5 the apparently the big problem here is the Walks Like The walks were just out of control I think he’s in the first percentile in terms of walks but everything else like the stuff is still there I mean expected bounding average expected ra fast ball velocity is still very good the strike out the Whi it’s all there just walking a bit too much so maybe this could be a nice by low candidate with lots of control that might look good on the blue no I think it’s great dude and the guys in the middle of his career are G to be age 27 starting next year so age not a factor at all and you got to even imagine that some of his best years are ahead of him right we were just talking about the money how it’s going to fix the bullpen I was curious i’ never thought about this before how much money are they actually investing in the bullpen right now um not a lot yeah is that what you’re looking at right there I hold up the contracts right now the payroll for next year there is two guys under an actual contract not an arbitration contract being Chad green and Eric Swanson Chad green gets paid $105 million a year Eric Swanson gets paid $3 million a year that is arbitration three by the way so he’s not even like on a on a contract or anything like that that’s arbitration three then you have one guy in arbitration one who’s Zack pop and then everyone else is in pre-arb that’s nothing everyone else is in Pre what is this dud you could triple your bullpen budget and actually have a decent this goes to show that we are not investing enough in listen I I’m all for value and for getting you know cheap guys doing good stuff uh but we have like 10 guys on pre-arb here no I mean and like the one good value there is Brandon little he’s kind of decent last year for 800,000 that’s great but like we got Tommy Nance down here e Lucas Michael Peterson this is not it no this isn’t it no no no but yeah but look we do need to invest more and maybe it’s via trade and obviously h i mean he’s definitely the most jacked that’s for sure that’s for sure um he definitely has a lot of torque on his body I’m trying I’m going around I’m giving everyone their due diligence you know I would say bo bashet b bash’s very athletic and is I actually I would push back and I would say Bo bashet because he plays tennis he plays that sport as well you know not just baseball whereas bar I don’t know if he plays another sport but he plays tennis and he plays it very well correct he does um I would still stick with barer though I’ve seen that guy run the bases I’ve seen that guy over there at third throwing the body down I know that bed is certainly athletic in his own right but I’m I’m going on the bar train I also think that an argument could be made for Dalton bar what he does out there in the very true actually incredible athleticism that he does very regularly yeah I might go D VAR show now I think I might go because he’s again he’s still got a good build too but like damn like the the quickness of him is just I could respect that argument too I think there’s a couple good ones personally though I would say bar bar looks like an NFL player but Bo is naturally very athletic yeah that’s the thing like listen there’s definitely some athletic we know who isn’t the most ath we don’t need to name names right now I think we all got a couple guys uh but there’s certainly a couple athletic used to play college football I could believe it I could believe it I could believe I could see him out there Corner position or maybe wide maybe not wide receiver actually but maybe a you know actually he’s he’s white so he can’t play Corner no not anymore there’s that one guy yeah can do it so I’ll see that right there most likely to succeed that’s a good one um who the hell is most likely to succeed yeah want almost look at I want to pull up the Blue Jays roster I need to see their faces again uh Class Clown vlat done either either him or it’s it would be uh yes and no though I mean think about some of the American cities out there that like oto’s got a bigger population than you know a lot like Colorado and like you got a bigger population than a lot of those places so I mean honestly there’s a lot of cities in Canada that would work Buffalo put one in Buffalo moving to Buffalo that’s true yeah it would be Canadian anymore but you know we we kind of make it our own Cal Edmonton that’s true as well I think that Ottawa has a bigger population than Buffalo yeah pretty sure yeah would need to fact check me on that one but you know it’s American off the table a little bit and had had a bit of injuries B of rough performances uh see if the bounce back is in order for him yeah yeah absolutely I’m going to I’m just going to grab one here kind of you know everyone’s kind of on the same like wavelength right now of like SoDo so why don’t we why don’t we bring it back a little bit right now and this actually was brought up this was having a little bit of controversy online about well if the Blue Jays get stto is that like that means it’s over immediately for vlady and Bo bashet and this question is coming from Luke asking that exact question if the J sign stto what do you think is going to happen to bashet and Vladimir Guerrero Jr what do you think is going to happen to Vlad and Bo if they do sign S I think that B’s gone for sure B’s cooked like I just well actually I wonder if Bose got a better shot then of sticking around CU he’d be a lot cheaper um I don’t know I I I just think that b is is gone regardless of anything that happens actually like I just again we got to see what happens this coming year and all that stuff but I don’t buy any of the media talk about like their relationship being good and stuff I I genuinely don’t think that that they’re cool I think that him and the management are like on different pages and they can probably work it out enough to you know have him play baseball for a year but I don’t see him signing a long-term deal with the Toronto Blue Jays regardless of SoDo or Guerrero or anything really where would you put even his value at right now let I have no idea let’s say let’s say he was a free agent this year like don’t know I think I think he’d have to sign like a one year Pro know 15 million 20 20 maybe I don’t know maybe it’s t granz kind of deal it’s like one year 22 mil prove it I I don’t even know if he gets 22 million man like again that was a terrible year last year I think that it would be a one year for sure it’s one know what the value I think someone will give him 22 cuz it’s like he could lead the league of Nets he’s one of those guys he could do that but you know you think about somebody like Cody Bellinger like he’d been coming off of a better year than that I think and he got 27 and a half no yeah he got 27 and a half no less than that I’m talking about when he initially signed with the Chicago Cubs not the contract he’s on now but before that um what was that 20 million or something like that I think it was uh I thought it was a lot more and I think that’s why or maybe it was the first year but a second year right now he 27 and half but he signed another contract with them he did like one year and then he did uh like I think he signed what it was it like three years or something like that oh yeah one year 17.5 wow yeah that’s like not a lot at all thing he didn’t get PA that much he was coming off I think a crappy crappy year was it really I thought he was like okay but not great let’s see he was doing oh yeah he’s kind of around bow but actually he was healthy right he actually a little bit better than Bo but he was healthy so that’s what he did that year and he got paid one one mil one year 17 and a half I could see something like that happen one one year 18 for B bashet yeah I could so that honestly that’s his value um and I’m sure he wouldn’t want to hear that because he’s going to want to have a a long-term deal for sure so it really does boil down to what what he does this season with the Toronto Blue Jays like is this is this a bounceback year for Bo bashet where you know gets right um but regardless Soo or not I don’t see him coming back now Guerrero on the other hand you got a better chance with vlat but the money is just going to be a shitload especially after signing ju SoDo too because he’s going to literally use your own teammate as leverage for him yeah SoDo got 750 I just put up a 950 Ops batting behind him uh and you know hit 35 home runs and did all that stuff well now I need 500 right that’s like if you want to have this pairing I’m going to be 500 he’s going to be 750 and that’s going to be that and I just don’t think that that’s a sustainable strategy for any baseball team really because you know what happens the one year where one of them gets hurt or [ __ ] both of them gets hurt you know like I just don’t see the Toronto Blue Jays ever doing that yeah like you’d have to really reconstruct that that whole roster and I I’ve been coming around to the terms of like okay well for the next two years if you do go over the luxury tax like that will pen Iz you for those two years but then all the contracts leave the books you’re going to have to like find a way to get underneath it again if you had a two monster contracts which is going to take a lot of creativity let’s year the year before or career is 371 so he must had like yeah he had a good stretch there of 2022 2023 whip was really low then it got kind of shot back up I mean he’s not a horrible one at all like he’s definitely good like I mean like again like if we sign this guy like this guy’s closing games for us yeah you know which is still kind of sad like he got a 0.7 War last year yeah he’s not like terrible he’s not terrible but yeah I he racked up 30 saves last year but I could see how people would be kind of afraid of a 1.3 weip get get a lot of scary ninth Innings I I would assume I get it yeah I mean like the guy definitely does blow the occasional save but at the end of the day a 3.14 erra and 30 saves like can’t complain with that too too much yeah like whereas you look at Romano too like again the whip is a little bit Higher One 1.2 he had the year before I mean obviously last year you can just write that off that was a crappy year because he was injured but like he’s a little bit scarier in terms of the whip of RA Holmes and a Romano so I could see how that would get some hearts beating you know for sure I get it yeah well either way he is now going to the New York Mets is you’re probably losing out to the New York Mets and then they’re again I know that people were talking about how they might go and get ponzo 2 I don’t know if that’s accurate or not um you got to think that you know it’d be difficult for them to match your offer of pet Lonzo if they also got chy or woto yeah I guess it all depends on how crazy uh and doing something big and stupid uh Steve told his son about this and then his son immediately took to Tik Tok and like revealed that like I don’t know it’s just like it’s so ridiculous stupid guys we can’t be listening we can’t be listening to a kid and taking that to you know dude when I was a kid I thought um you know I was going to be a movie star you know and when I was a kid I thought that Mark you know like I thought the Blue Jays have that’s the thing like you got to have the big players but you also need these like other guys complimentary pieces break out all of a sudden like if if Yan monal broke out to back to like at 800 roster in my opinion like so this guy would be our number one think about how Elite this rotation would be assuming Gosman bounces back number one is Burns number two is is gsman then you’ve got BOS 3 like that’s a solid three Basset four and then breakout candidate you know brow and Francis five with yiel in the pen like maybe Alex monoa in the wings like that’s a nasty rotation and that’s going to win you games man that’s he he had 15 to n last year that’s going to win you games yeah of course dud I mean like that that’s the type of like I think you got to play like the Washington Nationals it out like it could be a George Springer but it doesn’t matter right cuz we’re what we’re looking for at Alex bregman is to help us win in this two-year window kind of you know I know maybe a one-year window if you’re just considering Vlad and Bo leaving but we have a lot of guys still signed in 2026 so like help us win in this little short period and then we have nobody on the books after that like we have Brios with the player option and then y Rodriguez for like $6 million go we’ll pay him you we can pay for you it’s fine we’ll deal with that later yeah exactly you know and I mean like and Alex bregman now I did hear about this in terms of the contract um so he turned down oh I did hear about that so the AST offered him it was $156 Million I forget how many years I think it was 6 years um if that made sense 5 years it would probably make more sense it years let me try and find it was $156 million from the Astros that he turned down so it was a six-year deal six-year deal yeah sixe deal I’m trying to find the numbers here it6 156 I know for sure it was 156 it was 156 which actually it’s like okay I can see why he turn that down because the average annual value for a six-year deal on $56 million isn’t that great what does that come out to it’ be just over 25 20 26 yeah 26 26 million per year yeah well okay so he’s looking to get he’s looking to get roughly $200 million um which is a lot now I get why he wants it um again you look at that career and that I think that a lot of the career numbers you can say weren’t getting that much money um it scares me a bit because like we said it could be another George Springer but dude give me give me somebody to cheer for okay yeah exactly just give me someone to help us win now that’s the whole focus of this offseason we want to win in 2025 this guy will help you win now yeah you know so if he if he’s wanting the 200 million would you offer him more than 156 uh would you offer him like 175 yeah I think I would too I would to I mean I I think so what would that be let me try to figure out like a respectable like what if he wants if he wanted 30 M for 6 years it’s 180 so yeah like so that 174 29 million a guy that you would want to trade for he’s a free agent in 2028 do you think the best days are behind him obviously he’s still a great defender over there but is this something you’d want to take a shot at uh it depends what they’re asking for uh I I do think I would I I believe in Nolan arado and I think that there was a cancer over there on St Louis last year and there was a lot of good players that just weren’t good at all and I think that there’s something to be said about that you know like it it’s fair especially when you’re a veteran like him to kind of check out and I I would anticipate that something like that happened I think that he is going to perform better offensively speaking next year uh especially with the change of scenery I can’t guarantee that he’s going to be back to the you know 900 Ops that he used to be but I I think he’ll be a lot better and I do think that that you’re G to get some very quality defense from him so obviously depending on what you need to trade to get or or you know to pick him up yes yeah you know what’s funny I mean I I hate to bring it up but uh you look at Colorado when he was the years there obviously he’s y younger but like just the slugging was Unreal and then the moment he gets traded to St Louis granted 30 years old now just blamp just falls off I mean you’re you’re kind of overshadowing that 891 Ops that he had in in St Louis yeah that was obviously a great MVP 3 like that was a phenomenal year too but you know it is uh quite the difference obviously there is age involved here but it is it is something to know that was always a coners it’s always conversation on anybody who leaves uh the Rockies and and there’s no denying you do have more slugging in Rockies yeah of course right there’s going to be an element to that um but you know those career numbers in in St Louis was what 800 Ops that he had you know kind of loosely 271 batting average uh won a gold glove uh several times with them yeah I’ll take that like you know that sounds pretty good to me yeah you know again like I think they’d have to eat the contract or maybe send some prospects because that’s the thing U there was all speculation well if we eat the contract in order to do that they’ll send us prospects that’s kind of a nice little okay we’ll get you for now and then we can have these prospects as part of our pool and maybe the coin with yiel Rodriguez he’s going to get his opportunities but to start the year especially if they sign Corbin Burns it will be uh it’s going to be B Francis yeah like as a starter I mean I wow did he only did he only ever start for the did he I think he only ever started right here there’s no splits for as a reliever so wow no he definitely I thought he for sure are we tripping guys he must have relieved I’m 100% positive he 100% sure why would they not have that then they must have they must have messed up cuz I’m 100% sure he came in first as a reliever and he like piggybacked off someone I’m like 100% sure yeah like it definitely did happen you know um but regardless I mean yeah he he was having a rough year honestly look at the second half numbers 499 yearr in in the second half versus a 367 like we all have that impression of him from that first half but cuz you know we sto paying attention really like that closely to a lot of guys in the second half other than b Francis but like he wasn’t that good and I think he needs to go back into that pen where it’s a little bit more manageable I want to bring up the reliever numbers I thought he was like pretty decent but apparently apparently you don’t have it here we tripping yeah y’s best from the pen that’s what I thought so too Laura Ley like he looked good so for me B and Francis all the way you got you got to see what he has in a full season I mean last year Bowen Francis was heralded from our Channel standpoint as like the breakout guy and that was kind of like our hot take it happened a little bit
