a huge Yankees move could be incoming is if the Yankees do not pull off a Cody Bellinger trade their sites will be set on pet Alonzo next before also falling back on options such as Christian Walker and many others as the New York Yankees look to add some more offense to their roster looking at positions like the Outfield first base and another infield position we’re going to break it all down what’s up guys welcome back to Yankees digest it’s Chris here and we’re going to jump right into things as usual and if you guys like the content make sure to subscribe you guys have been killing it with subscriptions recently 14% of people watching this are viewing now we’re on the way up join now join the party soon but let’s talk about the New York Yankees as there’s a lot of interesting stuff going on with the team right now after losing out on wano the Yankees responded by signing Max freed to an eight-year contract and also acquiring Devin Williams one of the best closers or just relief pitchers in baseball now outside of that they still do need to add some more offense to this team the Run prevention is looking great they obviously still have a few holes specifically what’s going to happen in left field with Jason Dominguez as the centerfielder most likely and iron judge going back to right field meanwhile they need a first baseman with Anthony Rizzo falling off a cliff and then obviously being a free agent who’s leaving the Yankees and then not having a second baseman or third baseman depending on where you don’t want to put Jazz Chism so the New York Yankees are going to go out there and focus on spots like that but right now with Cody Bellinger we got an update from John Haymon who mentioned that there’s still a financial gap in the Bellinger trade talks with the New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs of this minute and it’s a matter of who blinks first if ever it still could happen but the Yankees are also considering Pete Alonzo Christian Walker Carlos Santana Josh Naylor and Nathaniel Lao and probably others meaning a few different things here one we’re most likely going to see Cody B end up as a first baseman for the Yankees to some degree at least we should see that that would make sense and it’s interesting I’d like him to be in the Outfield also because he’s a great outfielder and he’s got a good arm and he’s athletic so he should be in the Outfield I’d rather than trade for Cody Bellinger than sign a different first baseman whether it’s a nailer or a pet Alonzo it’s hard to imagine the Yankees getting both Cody Bower and Pete Alonzo though I don’t think they’ll do that but also players such as Christian Walker who’s been talked about a bunch for the New York Yankees and it’s just interesting to see where the Yankees stand right now because it feels like they’re going to move Bellinger to first if they acquire him or at least he’s going to play a good amount of times at first base meanwhile at the same time the Yankees can use him still in the ad field from time to time as well but it’s just it’s an interesting little note there that the Yankees are trying to get Cody Bellinger but want him for first base I just feel like you’d want his defense if you’re going to trade for him especially with whatever the Yankees trade for him but it’s about the Cubs not really wanting to pay Bellinger and the Yankees not wanting to acquire all of Bellinger’s contract as mentioned by Hector Gomez the New York Yankees are deep into the talks on a trade to acquire Cody Bellinger from the Cubs the Yankees are pushing the Cubs to pay at least 10 million of Bellinger salary with two more years remaining in the contract Bellinger is guaranteed to be paid at least least 52 million which also includes his $25 million optout deal with the New York Yankees which does make things interesting to consider that the Yankees are going to need to acquire some or they’re going to have to figure out some way to not pay Cody Bellinger fully if they want him because they don’t want to do that so they could focus on other players as well and also they understand where Bellinger’s value is at and that the Yankees don’t plan on paying him all that money now Bellinger is a very very good player I mean he’s obviously not the MVP he once was but he’s still only 28 years old people act like Cody Bellinger is like 45 for some reason now looking at a guy like Christian Walker who the Yankees will focus on also if they don’t get Bellinger which does feel a little bit more likely Walker does hit better than Cody Bellinger and the Yankees desperately need hitting he’s also a good Fielder as he’s won the gold glove three times so he’s a good Fielder he’s got his one chance for a contract he’ll be 34 he’ll probably get some three-year deal spending from he’s 34 to 36 and the Yankees have had prolonged interest in Walker so seeing him be the main shift the Yankees go to would not be too surprising but Cody Bellinger I mean the awards speak for themselves he’s a he’s a former Allstar gold Glover two-time Silver Slugger World Series champion NLCS MVP and one in MVP with the national league when he was on the Dodgers now last season he hited average pretty much 750 op s is the league average and he hit 751 meanwhile Ops plus average is 100 his is 111 so his hitting was a little bit above average he gives you a lefty bat he’s also a lefty arm in the Outfield but it’s not the exact same player that you’re going to get from the Dodgers obviously but he is a good player and it would be interesting to see Cody Bellinger kind of hit this Yankees team and give them a left-handed bat that’ll be important you could put in the middle or even top of the order he’d get a lot more home runs with with the Yankees as obviously the short porch will play into his Advantage so it’s going to be interesting to see how Cody Bellinger would play with the New York Yankees I think he would fit in very well mentally the one thing is that he is currently dating John Carlos Stanton’s ex-girlfriend but what are you going to do they’ll they’ll be okay it won’t ruin everything but it is just a fun tidbit to talk about but here’s the thing guys I really do want the Yankees to acquire Bellinger but I’d rather him be in center field and you have Dominguez at left and judge at right field I’d rather that it makes for good defense and yeah you’ll still need a first baseman and Belling you can play first base sometimes but it just it feels like it makes more sense to me for them to do that especially when it’s unclear what their left field situation or center field situation is going to be just depending on where Dominguez plays he’ll obviously be in the rotation and the lineup not the rotation he’ll be in the lineup he’ll be in the Outfield somewhere it’s just a matter of where and it depends on if you’re acquired a guy who can play center field or not if they’re going to move to minguez to left field while he really just gets playing The Outfield back under control because he struggled even though he’s supposed to be a very good Fielder and we’ve seen flashes of him being a great fielder for the Yankees so Bellinger clear impact that he would have same thing is Walker then you see a guy like a Carlos Santana who the Yankees also have some interest in but he’s 55 million years old so I don’t really see the point in going after him meanwhile Nathaniel Lao solid player as well I mean above average hitter gives you a lefty bat I wouldn’t mind getting him I don’t think LA’s going to be too expensive and I think you could still get Cody Bellinger and stick him in the Outfield and I think you have a much better team if you do that the Yankees also could go after Pete Alonzo who obviously is someone who they seemingly now have interested and the interest is reportedly Mutual Alonzo is interested in potentially going to the Yankees the Yankees are interested in potentially taking Alonzo from the Mets Alonzo hit he’ll get you 30 home runs 30 plus home runs in a year not a great Fielder at all but he’s a first baseman so it’s not like the end of the world if he’s a bad Fielder my fear is he’s a righty bat and then sticks a lot of varieties in your lineup again so it’s interesting where you’d hit him because it’s nice having a lefty in front of Judge so you could imagine that jazz Chism could be batting second they’re not going to put Alonzo at first because he’s not a contact hitter Wells is going to be fourth and Stanton’s fifth like are you really going to pay Pete Alonzo that much money to be a fifth or a sixth hitter on the Yankees like I understand that he’d be a good power threat and they’d be helpful to have but it’s just clear that pet Alonzo is like not the greatest fit on the Yankees even if he’s not a bad fit that being said I would still like the Yankees to get him as he gives the Yankees a power bat something they need left-handed or right-handed doesn’t matter they need another Power bat so getting Alonzo would be nice to have it would help the Yankees to a degree but it’s just a question of how interested the Yankees are going to be as compared to other teams like the New York Mets who obviously want to resign them and there will be a handful of other teams I mean I could see the Boston Red Sox going out there and trying to get Alonzo he’s going to have some suitors so it depends how interested the Yankees are in in comparison other teams but I do want to know what you guys think about Alonzo specifically going to the New York Yankees obviously it’d be a fun spite move at the Mets but is it really going to be worth doing that that’s the question you guys let me know in the comments down below like this video subscribe
