hey what’s going on everyone Gillis TV back here with another video today and we have a trade in the NHL two team swapping goalies of course the one goalie rumored to be kind of available and another team has struck a deal to acquire that go tender and this one was a very quick trade apparently there were talks about this trade last week never went through but finally they got it done this week so we’ll get into that but before before I get started if you’re new to the channel like anything hockey related from trades rumors signings whatever we have it covered here on the channel make sure to hit that subscribe Button as we are on our way to our goal of 1100 subscribers now let’s get into it Elliot freedan tweeting this morning that McKenzie Blackwood was connected to the Colorado Avalanche of course 5 10 15 minutes later he was traded there and here’s the trade breakdown the Colorado Avalanche received McKenzie Blackwood Giovani Smith and a 2027 fifth round pick in exchange for a goenda gorgiev forward Nikolai kovalenko a 2026 second round pick and a 20 25 fifth round pick so the picks are later on in the few years that 2027 going to Colorado to is a fifth round pick this trade we kind of figured McKenzie Blackwood would eventually be traded by the San J sharks it was just a matter of when and I’m going to pull up his stats and we got to think of this in a different scenario than usual he’s played in 19 games he has six wins he has one shut out I think seven losses yeah seven losses he has a goals against of three and a save percentage of 911 now the reason I say we got to think about this a little differently it’s the San Jose Sharks he has a 911 save percentage and the three goals against on a team with no defense Cody CeCe is actually statistically the worst defenseman in the NHL right now so you had that in front of him so you add a defense core with kale marar with Devon T and the rest of the crew there McKenzie Blackwood could possibly be the answer for the Colorado Avalanche of course he’s played in two 115 games in his career having 81 wins and 11 shutouts with the 307 goals against a 905 save percentage so he’s having a better year than his career this year when it comes to goals against and save percentage and it’s one of those that yeah did the Colorado Avalanche overpay they are retaining 14% of gorev’s contract as well I think they did overpay in a sense but they needed someone other than gorgiev to be there and they felt like maybe McKenzie Blackwood and Scott Wedgewood could be the one two punch they need we’ll see how it goes with that but going on to Giovani Smith he is in the AHL right now I’m just scrolling down to see his stats here and yeah he’s still in the AHL or no he’s in the NHL sorry this year he has six games played with 10 penalty minutes other than that there’s no points to him going to look at Nikolai kovalenko here and he is in the NHL this year with the Colorado Avalanche of course he’s there due to all the injuries they’ve had he’s a minus 7 in 28 games with eight points four goals four assists and those are his career numbers there for the NHL and Alexander gorgiev here is also if it ever decides to load here that’d be great I find nhl.com is really slow he has eight wins in 18 games this season 3.38 goals against an 874 save percentage so not where his numbers are supposed to be compared to his career average of 2.89 goals against and a 90 SA or 907 save percentage so of course he’s having a terrible year hopefully he can turn that around in San Jose but like I said their defense is me at best but they also you got to think they got McKenzie Blackwood a few years ago for a sixth round draft pick traded McKenzie Blackwood for a 25-year-old forward a 28-year-old goenda by Colorado that’s a flip that Mike Greer felt like he could do due to the fact that they only gave up a six round pick for Blackwood so that is the trade breakdown today let me know your thoughts in the comment section I’m Gillis TV thank you for tuning in
