obviously disappointing uh tonight disappointing season and um I do want us the the the the ones who’ve played their last game of eligibility in college football we had some special special young men in that group and um I hate to see them hurt and uh not go out on a high note obviously last week M Jordan hair was fun for them and good for them but certainly U these ironbolt experiences are special and hate to see them hurting uh the way they are currently and um they I just want them to know I hope that they can understand that what they went through and how they handled adversity and the disappointments um was a testimony to to their character and how they continue to fight and to what they showed this young group of kids we have of how to handle things when they don’t go your way and uh they were very special to us in that regard and and the way they continue to fight so again disappointing uh to end the season like we did and um you know a lot to build on for sure with those young guys and hopefully the class that we can sign next week but um nonetheless the hurt is still there could have been a different game for sure if you put those uh In The End Zone when we had the opportunity three times in the first half I believe uh we had Dre open just missed him on one of those and um regret calling the tempo play on Third and one wish I have slowed it down there was enough time and still could have held my time out for um and got us into something that was probably better like the two-point play that we hit later on um but I think the difference in the game is their third down conversions I think one time they were like I don’t know eight of 11 or something I don’t know what it ended up but and then um I think the difference in the game was was their ability to stay on the field on third down and us not being able to score touchdowns in the Red Zone you just mentioned calling Tempo on third down call tonight through yeah yeah the um uh calling plays is always a combination but yeah I call the tempo play and um trick play obviously we didn’t coach it well enough um there’s a there’s a post safety there you don’t throw that you throw the screen back to uh Payton and I think it would had a shot to have a pretty big play but obviously we didn’t coach jar quiz well enough on that the defense having hard time on third turnovers but how much those third down convs really weigh on them all game yeah I mean it it it wore on us I think the last two weeks and we were so thin I mean we were I mean we’re thin and uh you could tell we we look Gass at times and um you know you knew how good milro was and what he can do with his feet and his arm and and um we just it it it just multiplies things when you can’t and some of them were third and Longs and you can’t get off the field um fatigue and and it just it wears on you and obviously it limits the possessions that that we have with opportunities too and J Crawford we didn’t see y yep I hadn’t got the report but uh that you know we were already very thin at that spot and hurt uh for sure Lo losing him your defense opportun frustrating was it that you couldn’t convert those into more points yeah very frustrating that’s what was set in your stomach that we didn’t score in the opportunities that we had a few calls here and there you know the trick play the the third and one tempo you know all of those will you suck and guess yourself all the time on things like that because you know we could have made that 2821 there um love to seen what would have happened certainly not saying it would have won the game but uh it would have made it interesting for sure uh well we’re going to try to sign the top best high school class we can first next Wednesday and then uh it’s very hard to answer that because as uh you know you have no idea even what your roster is going to look like a week from now so it’s uh kind of difficult to answer but the first priority is let’s get this signing class in next Wednesday and then we’ll go from there on what’s next thany you it wasn’t the best at best way to end the season but what was your favorite moment from the whole season as a whole well it have to I mean the the relationships first that that that grew throughout the season but um the favorite is obviously the LA senior’s last game in Jordan hair um seeing the joy that they had from that experience was pretty special They I I’m anxious to see the film because it wasn’t uh I mean they played a sth guy pretty close but um I’m going have to watch the film they they uh they either won in some one-on ons or some double teams but they did did a really nice job up front for sure and you mentioned recruiting a big day for fut of program on Wednesday how are you feeling about I know you had one guy that took another school but how are you feeling about um it’s hard to say I mean you you feel optimistic uh about everything we’ve done but how in the heck do you really know in today’s times and um we just got to work to the end and uh the good thing is as he mentioned earlier you know there’s a portal that opens too if you if you don’t get all the ones that you wanted I’ve said I want to try to build through high school and um I can’t even keep up with it you know anymore I really I’m kind of off the social media world and um and if somebody don’t tell me something it’s uh it’s hard for me to even keep up but um I feel pretty good about most our relationships but again you never really know finish up the coach what do you take from these last stretch games here from your team and how confident are you this PR going to win G well that’s the goal and we we feel better I think we’re improving with a lot of young kids that are very talented uh again you got to go recruit and you know I’ve said it before that some of the teams were playing and and in this in particular game um they’ve had top five recruiting classes a lot of straight years um we’ve had one top 10 class and hopefully we’re getting ready to have a second and um it does nobody but you know nobody wants to really hear that I mean I know it’s true but at the same time we had chances to win games with with who we are and that’s the frustrating part for for everyone me included Jason frating kind of thats up thison this is another one of those games kind like yeah I would say humbling frustrating uh some of those words um but yet you know I’m big on not getting your identity from uh a scoreboard and I want our players to understand that because that they get talked about and you know I sign up for it but um man that’s you know I I hope I I just don’t think 20 years from now they’re going to think about um necessarily the wins and losses that we had and I know that’s not the world we live in and you know you guys get paid to cover us and you get paid to write The Good the Bad and everything in between but ultimately I hope that they become true Auburn men in in the in in life uh first and foremost and I know that lessons like we learned this year can help with that because life’s not fair sometimes and it hits you hard and um we’ve had some experiences with that but yeah you can say it’s uh it’s humbling frustrating Brian yeah moment yeah I was kind of surprised to the team I talked to his mom um a week or so ago and she asked what I thought about it obviously we welcomed him um as long as they felt okay about it and it was it was a joy to have him to see him walking last time I saw him that was a really really challenge for him so uh that’s that’s a victory in uh in his life for sure was good good to have him with us
