but we start with a new beginning at Leicester city as rude vanoy speaks to the media for the first time since his appointment as manager last week van nroy has been introducing himself to all the journalists in attendance before his news conference he starts his tenure as a manager with a match at home to West Ham tomorrow night and we can hear from him now congratulations uh after speaking to the club the chairman you mentioned Enzo Moresco as well what made you feel Lester was the right fit of course when you when the first approach was there and you’re going to think about the club and the players and the setup and the training ground and and all of these questions you have and you’re curious about people who work there and of course Enzo being a great friend and and a former teammate he was the first one to call and yeah what better information could I get and um but to be fair I when we played against each other in the Premier League game where I did the interim against Chelsea half an hour we spoke and I didn’t know yet about Leicester but we spoke about it and he was already quite positive and very positive actually so that that only got better when I spoke to him and I have to say he was he was absolutely absolutely right being the according to the first impressions that I get and for you personally you’ve obviously worked through the age groups of PSP your National side you went back to Manchester United as well on a personal level what does this opportunity mean for you to be in your first job in the Premier League yeah a lot a lot I think uh to be managing this club and and and this group of players and and representing Leicester city in in the Premier League uh for me I’m very excited I’m proud to be able to get the opp opportunity uh the conversations that I had two times I I came uh I flew out to London to speak with um with with the with the owner and and the director uh were very good conversations and and uh were important to to get to know each other and what what the ideas are and and and get together on the same page and um yeah we’re both very excited to uh in the end start working together and last one we saw just a few weeks ago I doing your interim role that it’s the first time we spoke to you since Ruben was taking charge there so what were your conversations like with him as you left good position there but did that kind of period give you a taste of management once again yeah it was it was uh it was a good period was short and intense um but but but uh I was happy to to help get the club back you know steady the ship I called it um and and the four games and and now now they’re they’re they’re on a run of good results on top of those four games so so that’s great to see uh I really enjoyed it being responsible uh get create a connection with the team with the with the supporters and and and able to turn the momentum for the club a little bit and and uh that that is is is our job and that felt great to do and yeah just got just got better you know now I mean this position to do it again and just finally you mentioned you were looking forward to meeting Jamie VY and someone you’ve admired in the past how has that first interaction been and did he take long to mention beating a record n years ago yeah it’s a problem of course that he broke my record so we uh that’s what I told him straight away he said listen we have a big big issue here we got to get out of the way before we can even start together so uh uh now that that was the first uh thing I actually said to him so I was I think I just beat him commenting on it uh and and of course back back in the time uh I I I made a tweet about uh about breaking the record and and wishing him well and and and then nine years later um sorry nine years later I think on the day uh yeah it’s weird weird uh how things go sometimes but uh but good stories thank hey r hi um last time I saw you was at parrington for your last press conference with Man United yeah that was I don’t know you may have been a little bitm you know there something after that game leaving has that experience not pitched you uh to be the right person at the right time to get this job um I think the those games I have to be to be fair what what happened after the games and the Mount of interest that was that all of a sudden was there for me and options that came along that was that was I was astonished a little bit by it because I thought well it’s four games and you know I’ve managed the full season at PSV um uh we able to win the cup and and the charity shield and the year before in the championship with with young PSV so I’ve been in coaching you know in the 19s before in the national team so and it never got this reaction from the football world so apparently it it provoked these reactions and yeah I was I was only happy with that and and to get into conversations with with different parties and be able to make a decision that felt really good for me and now I’m here when you look around I mean I think a lot of people will be surprised at the facilities here is this like a little gem that that you’re looking to have right now when you when you look at everything here at your disposal yeah yeah it’s it’s amazing I mean everybody tells you about how great the facilities are and then when you come here and see it with your own eyes and like you say it’s hard to believe and um well exactly a year ago I was in I was in Madrid meeting ancelotti and uh being 10 days with him and that the facilities over there but if you change the logos then uh it’s similar and and and it’s fantastic and it’s an opportunity here for young players and for all old players to use all everything possible to develop to get better and become better players and in the end it’s it’s what it’s about you’re giving yourself a high Mark if you’re going to compete with him I’m just saying I wasn’t saying that um Dan mentioned jimy V now um the former manager Ena said that he was probably the best striker of his generation forget Rooney and Harry Kane what’s your assessment obiously been a man in the know yeah I know it’s it’s uh it’s somebody in who has a career uh for a long time and he’s been performing in all these Seasons he’s been he’s been fit all all along he’s been producing and helping the all the teams that he uh that that he played uh for well it’s the only Club he played for but different teams because he played so long and he’s been producing and he still is and um I think it’s it’s it’s a great uh a great Striker and uh and great to have him in the squat talk hi rude uh welcome Conor Cody said after the weekend defeat against brenford that we have to look as players at ourselves in the mirror we are in a dark place at the moment so how will you go about showing them where that light is and lifting Spirits yeah I think uh that that is what needed to be done and uh Sunday was the first time that I that I was here was it yesterday it feels longer now feels longer but yesterday was the was the first was the first time I I met uh the players and staff and members everybody here was working and I had a meeting with the players and it was the first thing that to address the situation that we’re in and and the challenge that we’re facing and what’s necessary to get out of that situation where we’re in obviously with the Run of results over the last weeks and and and the brenford game it’s um it’s up to reacting and and clarity about how we’re going to do things and of course in two days it’s difficult to make a lot of changes but as a staff we started to make the changes that we think are necessary in in in in in the style of play and in the training sessions and in in in the structure of the team uh but little by little it’s time to to build a foundation of a of of a highly motivated uh fit team that that can compete in this in this difficult League [Music]
