40 minute basketball game there are four 10 minutes stretches in a basketball game here’s how many points Illinois gave up in each 10-minute stretch of this game against Little Rock they give up 13 points in the first 10 minutes they gave up six points in the second 10 minutes they gave up six points in the third 10 minutes they gave up nine points in the fourth 10 minutes they held Little Rock to single digit points less than a point per minute in the final 30 minutes of this basketball game it was a truly Stellar defensive performance from a a team that right now is now up to 16th nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency uh this was a blowout of a team that by the way is not a total cupcake L Rock was in the 100s on Kon prior to this game and Illinois made them look like the worst team in college basketball what did you see uh I haven’t seen a dominant performance like that in a while uh also we got a conspiracy Akon’s technical foul that game could have could not have gone more perfect that’s exactly what you’ve been waiting for i’ I’ve been waiting for casparis technical uh for a while I mean the UT dominance in this game like you you talked about the stretches like 51 to 19 in the first half 41 to 15 in the second like holding a a team that I think was like what in 150s probably on kmom to 34 points in a in a basketball game is insane that’s like that’s different level dominance I played it a D3 basketball school and we put up more than 34 points when we play D1 opponents that’s crazy yeah you have 0.49 points per possession for Little Rock which is absurd let’s talk about the casparis offensive performance I do think that was the maybe more important story for this one for Illinois not that uh their defense isn’t impressive or doesn’t matter I think that’s huge because man for real if an Illinois Brad Underwood offense has a top 20 defense in the country guess what you’re a title Contender like a national title Contender so if this defense is for real we can have that conversation down the line uh casparis though pmom MVP 28 minutes led the team in that led the team in points 21 I think he no he didn’t lead the team in shot attempts he just led the team in percentage uh three for four from three throw eight for eight from the free throw line six rebounds five assists two turnovers three steals he was everywhere this is like the the 100 out of a 100 game for casparis I think yeah and I and he has the ability to do this um especally playing against this level of competition but it was good to see him be aggressive get his shots up um I we’ll talk about Trey white leading this team in shots um but before we do that can I get can I please get my MZ per 36 update Gregory yeah I have some more casparis stuff though do you want to go to MZ right now yeah just really quick here uh once once again MZ in 21 minutes gave you eight and 11 so I made that very clear yeah he’s very good yeah he’s really good play my guy he’s very good um yeah casparis seemed to take something personal here what did you see there yeah uh I was maybe trying to find a little bit of connection if he had beef with somebody on Little Rock well if visich had a teammate on Little Rock that he used to play with so I I don’t maybe there was like some Euro on Euro stuff here it did seem from reading the the beat writers at Illinois who were in the gym for this one it seems like there was a lot of [ __ ] talking going on maybe initiated from Little Rock first and then casparis gave it back but I don’t know where like we obviously like that he got the technical but did you know casparis had this stuff to him and I don’t know make sense of it this changes things does it it does um because now we got to find a way to get pissed off casparis every game every game every game um I’m thinking we plant somebody in or Crush to talk [ __ ] to casparis and get him going yeah can we can we conspiracy our way into helping this happen more yeah there’s got I mean there’s we can find a way it would be nice uh for what it’s worth Brad Underwood after the game said I wanted to hug him when asked about casparis is technical so it’s one of my favorite quotes of all time oh I love I love Brad so much man it would be so fun to play for Brad in the six months before he decided he could find someone better than me I would love it um [Laughter] so oh oh sing Bing uh Illinois is really good tomama visich had 16 points and 11 rebounds and he’s like not even one of the first six names we mentioned is he G gonna just be a constant this year he he is especially in games like this like I think he’s going to be able to like there’s just no one that can check him when he’s in in games like this yeah Trey White had 16 points and eight rebounds 0 for three from three though um obviously that’s a good performance Trey White’s shooting 30% from three on the season he shot 29% from three last season he shot 26% the season before that he did not a shooter I was told like he’s Ty Rogers with shooting I don’t I don’t think he’s a shooter um like good perform like do we do we want this from Trey white respectfully speaking I don’t think you want an Illinois basketball game where Trey White’s leading your team in shots even if you are playing Little Rock but at the same time they won by 60 so isn’t there a correlation here of like Trey white led the team in shots and this this was Illinois’s best performance of the year one could make that correlation I will not you will not okay will Riley uh 13 points four for 11 from the floor car the first will Riley didn’t make every three he took game oh oh what a shot 30% from three in this game three for nine three for nine yeah huh the only number we care about is the nine though we most attempts he has in the year I love that yeah he’s oh you know he’s going to get him up he’s gonna get it he’s gonna find a way to get to his that if there’s a will Riley’s first team all I got to get to my average by any means and after a three for nine shooting night that drops his three-point percentage on the season down to 55% so I think he’s fine I I referenced this a little bit in the video before this I do just want to say like quick pulse check on this um will Riley should be taken in the top like seven or eight in this draft and I think Illinois fans are correctly coming to terms with the fact that like Will’s gone the guy I think you could end up getting back is actually casparis and we’ll probably talk about that as the season goes along and reevaluate this stuff is fluid but like I just want it known like I would love it if my NBA team drafted will riy that that’s an NBA bucket getter right now he’s basically Michael Porter Jr like that’s what I see with this kid and I I understand he was like a reclassifying but good Lord his pull-up his jumper is so pretty it’s unguardable it’s crazy yeah and that would make sense because MP mpj does not have a pass button uh will Riley one assist in this game he’s not out there to pass and one assist zero turnovers C people want him to be for some reason oh well well wellow H kylin’s numbers won’t W you in the Box Score but three points seven assists to one turnover in 23 minutes um I actually really like what he gave Illinois in this game your thoughts I kind of like kylin coming into like just this really stable role for Illinois you know what I’m saying like it’s not up it’s not down he’s doing things that positively affect the team um and you never Wonder like if kin’s like there’s no disappearing right now like he’s he’s out there he’s productive um I think that is that bodess well for them moving forward okay even in the game where like you mentioned you look at the box he only had one shot attempt in this game but like when you watched the game he was he was everywhere yeah yeah I I think he settled in really nicely him and kasparis are figuring out how to play together which I love um yeah let kylin kind of Be The Rock and just steady pass first guy shoot your open threes let casparis have psycho [ __ ] to him and go be the best player they don’t call him Bam Bam Boswell for no reason all right I don’t know about that uh speaking of uh so bamb Boswell how about bang bang Ben that’s what his shots were doing off the rim in this game one for six um did NBA Scouts love this performance from Benham Rick house who is a top 60 player according to gavone this is my favorite bit it’s not a bit this is I I am told her sources Benham Rick house is an NBA player that’s yeah I didn’t see that in this one no no why not because he’s a shooter and he didn’t hit shots oh is it because he doesn’t do anything but shoot and he’s actually like a defensive liability at the college level and he’s not even that special of a shooter is that why maybe what’s he shooting on the year shooting 39% from three on the year yeah it’s not gonna get it done Benjamin I mean 39’s good it’s very good uh that yeah but he’s a guy who should be like 43 yeah what does he do better than will riy and why is Will riy coming off the bench I I don’t why do you keep wanting to bench Ben for will riy why don’t you bench Trey white for will riy because I think will Riley does everything Ben does archetype wise and rebounds like you would just like Ben would be so much better just coming off the bench sniping a little bit and I I just feel like Trey white is a different archetype who does little things for this team if you are just playing a tall shooter you have the best tall shooter in the country who also rebounds off the and Rick house is a tall shooter who doesn’t rebound and doesn’t guard and doesn’t shoot as well as will riy so I don’t follow that one you know it’s not like they’re different archetypes they do the same [ __ ] will Riley’s way better at it I think will riy does everything that Trey white does were better I don’t Trey white does so many little things for this basketball team that are like defensive minded and grimy that’s not will or Ben yeah I I think Trey White fak does grimy little things but that just is a term for just not doing okay anything I floated this in the Discord last night and I’m gonna dread that I actually went here after a 60-point win but let’s do it uh in the summer we were told Illinois has seven future NBA players on it um that includes Carrie Booth who played six minutes in this game seems he’s out of the rotation behind Jake Davis right now um I don’t want to ask about NBA because I think that already speaks for itself where this is headed um I want to ask this how many good college basketball players does Illinois have like good starters how many good starters on a championship team Big 10 team does Illinois have I have an answer six six huh yeah who are the six sparis yep will Riley yep big T yep kylin yep MZ yep stop there Hummer should stop there don’t tell me where to stop I’m G tell you where to stop because I I think we we’re starting to figure out what this team is I think they got five dudes and those dudes are all caps exclamation dudes and then they got some liabilities they’re working around a little bit and those liabilities May pop up in and out once every six games and get you 16 points but Trey white can’t shoot and he’s playing the Ty Rogers role H Rick house can’t do anything but shoot and he doesn’t shoot as well as he needs to so I would keep an eye on that because we were sold that these are like great starter upgrade NBA types I’m not seeing that through three weeks I am seeing MZ eat everything in front of him every time he gets on the floor yeah like that that kid rocks C and I I don’t know if Brad wants to play too big I will say this the fact that Brad’s playing too big a ton in the last two games is pretty clear indication of him trying to figure out how to get morz more minutes which I like which I love but man you tell me like one possession game in the Elite 8 this year who do I want on the floor it’s the five good players it’s casparis kylin will Riley MZ and Big T and figure it out from there I think that that could be where this Team Heads I like the lineup we’ll see let let let Hummer and Trey be off the bench role players this team will be Stellar I think if they get to that point although car they also won by 60 so maybe they’re Stellar right now they win by 70 if they play our lineup went by 80 maybe this seems really good that is the takeaway from watching the rest of the Big 10 I still think Illinois is up there don’t you think in the Big 10 yeah yeah they’re really good yeah top 20 team in the country are we falling for it what no we’re not we’re not we’re not falling for it this is this is where we were at before it’s this this we had to change our expectations of what this team will be in March but it’s still going to be a good it’s still going to be a they’re still a certified top three big 10 team this is what they do to little rocks though right yes what do they do to Big Rocks I don’t know we’ll see Thursday yeah we’ll find out I guess we’ll preview that game against Arkansas and find out um okay I don’t want to fall for it again but I don’t think we are fall I think what we’re doing is being impressed by a game where casparis was actually a killer if this is the casparis you get for the rest of the season I think this team probably wins the Big 10 but if you don’t get this casparis for the rest of the season I think it’s be careful it go it goes through Purdue if this kasparis isn’t this kasparis it goes through Purdue either way really yes I did promise my I make a lot of promises to myself don’t I yeah you do and I’m I’m holding you to the one that you we talked about it if they get this casparis
