at least it looks like on paper the best matchup maybe for last Illinois Northwestern Big 10 conference game Friday night you’re going to see this a lot throughout the rest of the year with the big 10’s playing Friday night Big 12 will play a lot on Friday night now even the Big East etc for an extra game all right Northwestern getting three and a half at home in Evon total 144 we’ve seen this Illinois team they were beaten by Alabama in an Alabama true home game but we’ve also seen Illinois come back around and beat Arkansas on a neutral floor in St Louis they also um have a couple of other wins uh against maybe some lesser competition but this is a big 10 opener thoughts to begin things here uh Corby Craig give me a thought including on the total 144 here for Illinois Northwestern tonight in the Big 10 yeah it was a bad looking game for Illinois in the Bama game I think everybody knows Mark s just shot like miserable and yet Illinois was never really in that game so uh interesting there but I I look back at this team and I’m still like kind of impressed I mean they’re six and one 13th in the nation it’s it’s not saying like too much to be impressed by this team so far but like a good win versus Arkansas a ton of like really small wins that don’t really matter in the scheme of things but I do think help mesh an offense you go look at U rim and three rate which the issue here is again they played nobody so of course they got to the rim as much as they want 74th ination rim and three rate uh the issue is I I think that Northwestern is in the like worst of the worst spots they just lost to Butler by two in a game Butler shot bananas like like there was a point where Northwestern just could not buy a bucket relative to to Butler they were down like 20 at one point um I I took a money line Northwestern there because like it was just one of those regression spots where inevitably they have to score they lost by two didn’t win but it was close we see an Iowa game lose by one so it it feels like this is a by low for Northwest on a team who just continues to get really unlucky I’m just not sure that this is the spot that I want to buy I think nonetheless even if they are are hitting the highs of their luck box like Illinois is a really talented team really well coached team uh and we give a fight also this total at 144 screams Illinois gets to play their game like Illinois is a very fastpaced te team who could see the 140s pretty easy Northwestern 322nd does not care about Tempo to save their life so pricing this 144 feels like this is an Illinois game to lose um and it’s something that I would want to be a part of again for Northwestern tough earlier this week they gave up the three-point bomb at the buzzer in Iowa up two lost the game by one so a heartbreaker there in a high-scoring game all right Jeff now they’re back home here on Friday night obviously don’t want to be 0 and2 already uh here in early December in conference play any thoughts on Northwestern and Illinois yeah I’m starting to trying to kind of realize that I think Illinois is really good um like really good and I think look we’ll we’ll talk about well they got beat up by Alabama one of those high-paced back and forth games but they’re starting to round into form and and I kind of realized this during that Arkansas game I mean they’re just really good at the starting five we have to remember they’re this new Lithuanian kid jonius I mean he played on FC Barcelona that’s a top five program on the planet as far as Europe uh will Riley is a top recruit a top 25 top 10 player this is a really good team and this doesn’t exactly have the profile of the one we saw last night in the Big 10 where Penn State was the favorite and it just kind of looked uh little weird they ran through it this is more of well we don’t actually think Northwest compete but they might because they’re at home I think at the end of the day Illinois is better um I I think their overall record or their overall team is just on both sides of the ball terrific this is a weird Prof stat profile game too I mean Illinois is going to shoot a bunch of Threes Northwestern doesn’t take virtually any threes I think Northwestern will find it difficult to operate in a half court because they don’t necessarily have a player on this team like they had in in boooy he’s gone so I lean Illinois in a rivalry game I feel like they win by like seven to 10 points all right interesting again a visich you were talking about this in the uh in the matchup with his brother right where uh his brother is on Arkansas uh so Thomas laav of vich leads them in scoring for Illinois he really good I’m gonna try the name jaas kasparis jaos solonus is the Lithuanian he’s averaging six assists a game and can also shoot it we got an international flavor on Illinois on a Friday night here keep in mind will Riley is from Canada uh he was he’s actually the top recruit the highest level recruit to ever come to Illinois outside of D Brown I think D Brown was the next closest so this team is really good on paper um and we’ve kind of forgot about them in in the in the Big 10 so keep an eye again I’m looking back TJ go ahead so we we talked about like the pace War like this feels like an Illinois pace and and Jack in the chat brings up a really good point these are the kind of games like uh if Northwestern is going to cover this game uh it’s a three and a half I I don’t think Northwestern does so I’m not betting it but like this Tempo is very indicative of like an Illinois play their game if this is a Northwestern game where Northwestern is able to set the tempo play their game cover this probably goes under like I would say there’s a direct correlation to Northwestern playing well and this staying under the total uh some books will let you parlay a a side and a total in the same game uh and not cost the the correlation so if you can get Northwestern and an under if you liked the Northwestern side I don’t so I’m not betting it um I had like a 27 280 I think that’s a pretty good price DJ yes sir do we have time for a quick story here on a Friday it’ be 30 seconds always always always Story Time what you got extend it out it’s fun when we go off the beaten path a bit and and one of the individuals in the chat Raymond who I think at one point yesterday uh people were having issues with question wise but Raymond’s a good guy he says nay dude did you ever have any sit down associated with Frank Sinatra I’m going to tell you a very good story about Sinatra in the 90s Sinatra was near the end of his career he was still doing a lot of performances he comes to New York one night to do a performance in New York City and Frank just I guess decides he doesn’t want to do the performance that night so he pretends that he’s sick uh and little did he know that John Gotti the boss at the time uh wanted to come to his performance uh he gets word that the performance is happening so he goes at the dinner John Gotti he and his Bulldog enforcer Joe watts and who happens to be in the restaurant that night Frank Sinatra who was supposed to be sick and didn’t show up John gets it he sees it gets very upset and Joe Watts goes over to Frank sinat and says uh what’s going on why’d you lie and say you had you were sick when you weren’t sick and Frank makes up this stupid uh excuse and says this enforcer says them listen Frank you ever do that again my face is the last face you’ll see so he essentially threatens Frank Sinatra and uh I don’t believe Frank ever did that again so that was the night John Gotti was supposed to go to his reforms and Frank pretended to be sick and wasn’t really sick I was looking for a connection to Illinois and Northwestern but that’s okay it’s a good Sinatra story with John Gotti the Teflon Don uh but there we go all right so a little Mafia to end out the handicap here answer a question for our listener you know I got you nothing official on this game I’m I’m looking back for the Arkansas win uh they had 15 made threes Illinois in that game vich made six of them in that game so let’s see if they hit the three ball tonight and again Northwestern gave up a lot of points to Iowa including the game-winning three give up 90 let’s see what happens tonight this is the Welsh Ryan arena on the Northwestern campus by the way this Central Time Big 10 Network yes this game was a 30o loss last year for Northwestern 9666 and boooy who’s no longer there had 20 points in that game so take him away this should been a 50o loss for Northwestern Yik yeah Terence Shannon viously rocked and rolled in that game you have to than no more Teran Shannon no more boooy in this match up but it is a big 10 Showdown
