this is the trade it’s been reported Garett crochet from the white sock to the Red Sox Wickman Gonzalez Kyle te a first-rounder bra Montgomery another former first-rounder Chase midth who had 105 walks of 71 strikeouts in Triple A this past season all going to the White Sox now I did trade Ruben Amoro for Joel Sherman I tried to trade Sean Casey for John hayon John Heyman did not pass the physical so we got got John marosi uh which is a great I mean great acquisition no doubt about it um hey guys what do we make of this trade this is a massive deal between two teams that have history trading left-handed Aces Chris gats and the white socks did very well here Greg because they read the market they understood that once Max freed went to the Yankees the Boston Red Sox had to answer and they have and this is a very good deal I think for the white sock to get two of the Red Sox top five prospects Kyle teal and Montgomery based on what I’m being told right now Greg those two players teal and Montgomery were not put in the same deal until today until the same offer until today which says that this was a response by the Red Sox to what had happened with Max freed and you mentioned Ma rooth I love that stat you alluded to very rarely in today’s game do you hear that big of a spread 105 walks against 71 strikeouts he’s probably going to be a second baseman as opposed to a shortstop but that is Elite Strike Zone discipline and of course Gonzalez also a very intriguing pitcher held hitters to a below 200 average this year better than one strikeout breting pitched Joel I like what the White Soxs did here White Soxs were very determined to do both things you could do in a big trade get quantity and quality they wanted some guys who they could really sell his high-end guys teal certainly falls into that and they wanted some depth to show for this for the Red Sox this is a bit of a cheat code right they offered seven at 190 with some deferrals to Freed got beat by their rival Yankees to JP’s point they had a pivot someplace I call him a cheat code because G crochet is superb but he’s pitched so little that in arbitration he’s only going to get about $3 million so that leaves them fertile to still do whatever they want in the free agent Market we know they were willing I think they were willing to say even go to 200 or a little more for free to free had showed they were interested so could they go higher for burns can they then say no we’ll go for someone like flarity Etc sha manah so I think that what they’ve done here is left themselves the ability to play at any Market they want in free agency because crochet is a top level Talent with a lowlevel contract so Burns is still in play for the Red Sox you think I mean I continue to believe it’s going to be San Francisco uh but I think this is you know the Red Sox can’t keep promising in their fans Paris and give them pyy you know at some point you’ve got to do better than that and this is the beginning towards you’re moving towards Paris at least you could see it you can see the Eiffel Tower in the distance right and so I think they can’t stop once you do this you can stop you can’t say well we kind of did something you’re still not going to be as good as maybe the Orioles and Yankees you got to get as good as the Ori Yan I agree Joel that this team is not done yet adding rotation depth if you call up that list of starting pitchers again one more time that group of starters right now is not as good as what the Yankees have right now it’s just not there there is not the depth and reliability the Yankees and we’ll get into this I’m sure later on the Yankees have so much starting depth today that they believe as Joel’s reported about the potential of moving a Louise heel in a deal for Kyle Tucker the Yankees have more starters than they actually need potentially the Red Sox do not they need to get one more and the good thing for the for Boston though is that Shawn manah is still out there flarity is still out there Walker berer is still out there this is a good winter to be looking for starting pitching in free agency
