highlighted seniors like first off these guys have accomplished a craft ton over their entire 40 years at Iowa of like playing since 2021 all the names we could list about who’s walking on Friday but also like they’ve also given more than just happiness and results and reasons to talk to a fan base and all that stuff they’ve also given components of their like future enjoyment of their lives welcome back to the ANF podcast recover Iowa Sports we’re going to do a breakdown of the Iowa versus Maryland game uh and then after that move into a preview of Iowa versus Nebraska kick it off with the discussion around the seniors on to wrap it up with some picks I think initial Impressions from the Iowa Maryland game is that Iowa is incredibly successful in Sleepy environments we talked about this incessantly in 2020 how Iowa just shows up and doesn’t matter if anyone’s there they’re going to beat your ass that’s an odd feeling from another team it’s like you guys are playing in front of 45 people and you still want to kill me yeah and that tone came out and it dominated most the first half especially on the offensive side of the ball the D line for Maryland just did not want to play ball that day M uh as they kind of uh found themselves in the game in the late second early third they did ratchet up and they were able to get some stops and tily but I think that’s what was just so surprising from the start was just man everyone’s blocked and no one’s really getting off them yeah I think it’s the team that we expected to see pre Iowa State even at post Iowa state that performance of like here’s what this team’s going to operate like all year you’re going to get off the field on third down you’re going to be efficient on defense you’re going to be able run the ball the entire year and the performances at Michigan State and UCLA it didn’t have that feel to it where we kind of just have this ball control feel where we can possess it for a long time and then make really quick possessions of your own offense and it was just weird to see that pop up instantly this game where our prediction was going to be it’s going to be a back and forth game they’re going to have long extended drives and they did in the second half but it was shocking to see you know pass rush was there instantly herit made some really big time moves on First and 10s and kind of employed them at a you know earlier Pace than usual not in third down or you know true passing situations uh the secondary stepped up definitely in the first half you know we got off the field consistently and that’s due to the coverage that they were looking at you know Edwards didn’t really step back and have a clean pocket or a clean Target the entire first half and our Run game which struggled in the first half against you know UCLA and Michigan State showed up right away too you mentioned that that push and I as a great way to describe Iowa football in 2020 was like if you guys you know they don’t doesn’t fans in the stands for us to kick your ass and us to Care and like that that was awesome to see like there was a surge the first play and for us to go you know this is a top 30 rushing defense it’s going to be a really difficult game on the ground they rolled down and they played aggressive like we expected it just didn’t matter cuz you actually end up in a worse position when you roll down you play aggressive against the run if you’re getting significant movement on the interior because then you’re one you know good cut away from breaking it for 80 like we saw with Molton yeah so it’s just great to see and I think the obviously the two Personnel takeaways that really are exciting for you know next year is you know Stratton he might not be the starter next year but you know Lester’s found another guy through the portal that you can see why he found him Big Arm quick decision maker played confidently like kind of a laidback personality seemed like the entire game and to do that in a road environment you know with two weeks of prep and being the fif string in your own head like that showed a lot of confidence and showed a lot of good traits too like just the the ability to snap down and you know quickly find the secondary targets or also ripping balls to The Far Side hash on a 15 yard out route like he kind of had all the stuff that you wanted to see from Kane early in the year maybe in a slightly bigger arm than him and it just proves to Lester obviously the ability to see quarterbacks that this guy was sitting on the bench in Colorado State nobody you know really wanted him I think he was originally committed to Washington his stats coming into the game were like seven for 25 over his career right I think he was third string at Colorado State maybe even fourth yeah so Lester can spot that talent and then bring him in and then obviously still broughten Sullivan as well so it’s a good Viewpoint for like future development of the position that we’ brought in two portal guys and it’s probably the two best quarterback performances we’ve had in you know outside of Kate in backup rols for sure and even starting rols you know we have we’ve G over quarterback forever but just a good sign to see that you know he’s developing that position group well and he’s teaching them well to play with confidence and then the other Personnel thing was like obviously Caleb had another big day insane amount of carries you know 35 carries I think and but Molton outside the fumble you can tell there’s when you kind of if you overlaid Molton and Caleb Johnson’s first five steps of reads where he’s hitting the hole and accelerating I think you know like they always said that track shadow where it’s like here’s the world record and here’s the guy running it I think those first five steps are very similar it’s where Johnson separates himself as that third level wiggle and you know ability to dodge those Defenders but mullen’s got that really quick first acceleration which is for Zone Concepts and the mid Zone that we run it’s extremely valuable shotgun running too it’s why you know lesan end up getting buried because Molton is just so freaking quick out of the the gun that this guy if we develop him correctly he’s going to turn into a back so I think you know you turn on Molton film to Johnson’s film early in their career I I still think there’s that difference at the top end where you can make a 20 yard run into a 70- yard run but like I think there is something really there for a development a little bigger little more confident like I think he’s the bcal next year when Johnson eventually moves on I think Molton and maybe the addition of another running back you know we talked about brevan D in the recruiting process being a guy that we hope can step up he has you know top end speed and could add a different dimension to what we can currently offer on the field you know wen’s probably the only guy with similar speed to him when it comes to straight line uh couple things I wanted to break into though with the Maryland uh play calling so what we saw from lockley is essentially the passing version of Bri fence where he didn’t do any window dressing if he got the look he liked at this at the you know pre- snap they were going to go out I think it allowed our DNS to play incredibly fast on the edge that’s why we saw pressure really develop early and often uh it’s just not a common thing for Rob because usually you know those guys have responsibility on jet motion they have got responsibility on counter and if you’re not showing anything pre- snap you’re not showing anything from a fake fakes perspective a lot of it was just running backs entering the route immediately too was you didn’t see a lot of play action so that equation for you know the Iowa defense to process where they’re probably leaning 65% pass every single possession especially first and 10 we’ve just seen us be really successful against Maryland for that reason like if you’re going to you want to pass this is what we do best we’re going to drop into our coverages and read this correctly we know the patterns you know uh we know how to force turnovers better than they in the country too yeah so rolling that die and iow gets to play that type of football where you’re not going to try and you know move us in our light sets uh another interesting thing that I didn’t really expect was I called out the the pregame that I expected Phil to be in mostly too high and you know protect TOA Le in the passing game I think this is an similar employment of the strategy that we used against Purdue in 2022 where you remember there’s that really windy day and against a really good puru you know passing offense you had oconnell and Charlie Jones on that team we lined up in press man and we said throw it over 15 yards and it was because it was the same kind of weather day where anything that gets up a little higher in the air either is going to now take off farther than you expected or it’s going to die faster than you expect and you know you can think of completions in this game at anything over 10 to 15 I don’t think Maryland was able to execute many of them at all um and then on the shorter routes you mean you look back now at what Maryland was allowing they allow us to execute at seven seven eight yards against the win the entire game yeah it’s like man that’s that’s really a great decision by Iowa and a missed Opportunity by Maryland definitely Indi end that was a November cirk game you know St were low environment was low but you can tell Iowa was still playing hard I think you see you know you start playing for each other at that point of the season and I remember just like herit making a sack on the first drive and kind of just looked over to his own bench and just got that juice going started talking right away like celebrated to his teammates and that’s like what you need at that moment it’s like we’re not playing you know for anything of our you know preseason goals but we are we want to win this game we want to win this game just for each other like we’re playing we don’t have to be playing this game but we want to win this game because we have the opportunity to compete together as a team like these guys have been knowing each other for four or five years we get to go on the field you know two more times together with this jersey on that you’ve essentially made your entire careers together like you think about like a college football career like what a like an internship what an end of an accomplishment of like you guys all realizing like realizing your potential first off you had to make it on the field at Iowa like if you’re a mid three star recruit and I think this is a great way to break into the Nebraska game like on senior day like some of these stories these guys have to even like put this jersey on and like become starters and then to not become starters but also have expectations as a starting group and to have the expectations this team had that’s already an accomplishment to win 10 games in 2023 to win 10 games in 2021 to go to two big 10 titles there is so many guys on this team that have gone through that process even 2022 you had a team that wasn’t successful early in the year but then ended up accomplishing and you know should have been in three straight Big 10 titles so that’s actually where the senior class is it it it has a extreme amount of success and that’s why there was expectations here because you look at the guys who are walking on Friday Craig herit Richmond Colby Jones Higgins Jamari like schy these guys been the backbone of this program for a really good run truly it could have won the West three straight times and they all have been intcal parts and had big plays in the entire process so when you’re watching this senior class graduate it feels like this kind of an era of Iowa we’re moving on from and they should be very proud of what they’ve done at Iowa not only of like becoming starters at a really difficult program to become starters at but also what they’ve accomplished and I think that’s what we want to focus on is not just you know this season’s disappointment but look at back at these guys entire careers of what they’ve done it’s it’s really impressive and I think you can go into you know what these guys aren’t just like accomplishing oh they made big title games they made this like as fans it’s like hell yeah thanks for do that it’s been a really F year to watch but as a football perspective it’s not basketball it’s not track it’s not college sports this is something football’s different it’s got a different element to it whatever you cross the white line of a football field you enter into agreement where you know your body is now the play thing of this football game whatever happens to it you you’ve waved liability from the organization that put it together you know they’ll take care of you but your choice is your choice I think that is a very different realm of sports commentary that we’re in than other sports you know you have to liken almost to the UFC where these guys have actual Health consequences you can enter into a game and come out a different person play basketball yeah you have dramatic injuries occasionally with Kevin W Paul George stuff like that but football pretty much around the uh around the league is mostly walking out with something significant you know guys who played college football almost all have something they talk about for sure but um I think that’s where we have to have respect for these players you know like these guys we love Iowa football we spend our money I think that’s where a lot of people go for this argument well I you know spend money to go these games I I’ve been a fan my whole life I support the team I deserve to have equal stake in my my points and point of view uh but the the sacrifice that’s occurring on a football field is far different than your emotional state on a Saturday night yeah it’s I mean you talk to any of these guys 15 years from now every one of the guys we just listed you know even I bet Castro the the hits he he’s put on people he’s also taking those hits himself the way he fights Blocks he’s taking on a lot of hits and you go talk to Castro in 15 years you’re like hey how you doing like how was your what was your football kind of like ending toll on your body he’s going to list four things he’s going to have a a full list of things that have gone wrong with his body I think even people that have played High School football they have their injury you know oh my my groin is still messed up my shoulder is still messed up like from the college level he’s going to have four things he’s like my wrist is messed up my neck’s fused my my knee is still not right my ankle messed up it’s like there’s G to be a toll of things that he gave to this program so that’s like a starting point of I think that’s where even why this podcast exists I think why the football fandom of Hawkeye football fandom exists because you it is this Gladiator nature to it of like true sacrifice and that’s what kind of gets you in the door of like really respecting these guys and respecting this program and then you not only have the Gladiator nature of football but the Gladiator nature of Iowa football is even a different level these guys especially on the defensive end sacrifice themselves every play and they always are doing what’s best for the team every single play by the way they take on blocks why they H hit tackles why the the physicality they play with it’s like super admirable like it’s just a great thing to watch and like that’s like the reality of Iowa football is like that core comp component of watching these guys sacrifice and I think that’s what we want to highlight is seniors like first off these guys have accomplished a crap ton over their entire four years at Iowa of like playing since 2021 all the names we could list about who’s walking on Friday but also like they’ve also given more than just happiness and results and reasons to talk to a fan base and all that stuff they’ve also given components of their like future enjoyment of their lives and that’s something that we cannot miss you can’t miss that aspect of football and you know we’re very grateful from that having from our perspective we want other fans to be grateful like that sacrifice and I think that’s where we live going to this game it’s like you celebrate all these guys that have gone through our program and obviously you know had some ups and downs but like mostly ups for these last since 2021 and it’s just be a great opportunity to play Nebraska and have this moment of like you know night game rivalry this game doesn’t have a lot six It season has lost it six since losing to Michigan State beans Nebraska’s ass and and celebrating these guys and hopefully they play well and they’re going to come up Juiced up it’s be an awesome game to watch mhm today show is brought to you by Sun singles sunscreen convenient single-use sunscreen packets created for your purchase that’s code 10o Hawks so going into the Nebraska breakdown I think you have to start with riola you know a unique offering within this uh rivalry I think it’s majorly upgraded the Nebraska program over the next four years obviously you’re going to have hiccups with playing a true freshman QB you haven’t built out a re receiver group that he’s probably deserving of you know guys are capable fedon is a really good player at tight end they they’ve had a run game for most of the season so you’ve put together a lot of pieces that are you know you consider good but uh there’s still another step for him where if you can get downfield threats that can create space with his arm Talent down the field they could take another leap and that just really hasn’t happened for them I think the defensive side of the ball I think they were another product of the Big 10 west where you had some pretty significant you know numbers last year I think they’re uh their DC was in contention with the Bros W with Phil last year um I think you know looking back on the numbers from both this Iowa team that’s come forward and uh Nebraska that was some fake Big 10 West football that led to some really you know good numbers for Nebraska they put together really good games against Ohio State and um they put together really good games against Ohio State and Colorado you if you looked at those two games alone you expect this team to probably be a top 15 program I’ll push back a little bit on the receiver room I think they’ve they’ve taken the probably the best step of the Big 10 West it’s probably pretty close to Minnesota but like what riola could be having at Ohio State and Georgia they haven’t matched that in his receiver room because I think Riolo I mean his story motion is pretty much Flawless like you watch him in the spring game and then like the first like three games this year you’re like holy crap this guy’s just got a like a perfect way of delivering the ball just jumps out of his hand can hit every part of the field and doesn’t have to force it too and I think it’s still a true freshman you look at his numbers they are good for being a true freshman in the Big 10 especially the schedule they’ve played you add in USC and UCLA like we know those two programs are pretty good like USC beat LSU and UCA beat us pretty convincingly like it’s just reality Big 10 those two teams are six and six but like that’s because the league is really deep this year and like there are good team so I think you look at riola going forward you know his Mobility isn’t insane which is going to be just one part about that’s going to hold him back in the NFL like why you could talk down to it but in a throwing perspective this guy as a senior or a junior is going to be really high level it just depends if they can take the leap of bringing in a five-star or a fourstar that’s going to play in the NFL I don’t know if any of these Nebraska receivers are going to be like you gotta draft them guys I think you know in three years you could be like Banks’s playing for Tampa Bay as their fifth receiver and you’re like oh that old Nebraska guy or Naylor is playing some weird role for you know the Seahawks as a you know rotational receiver I think that’s where those guys live which is still a step up for like Minnesota Wisconsin Iowa that’s still better room but I agree with you that that needs to improve if you want to maximize Rola I think the running back for him and d and the two Johnson Bros I think Raheem and I can’t remember the other guy’s first name but uh EMT EMT three really good backs dowo is gigantic and fast and good and he’s gonna play in the NFL and the other both the might be better yeah EMT scaer Bal when he hits it like it’s yeah I don’t both their backs are ahead above what we usually see so their skill room is talented and I think that’s what once again you look at like why how’s this team like six wins their old lons played well too yeah they don’t have weaknesses that are parent the offense Rola is obviously a talent the guy just feels like you’re watching another good offense and it’s going to be a tough tough assignment for how to stop now you bring in hogerson you know they he’s reinvented this offense I’ve watched seven of their games I I saw the ball out quicker I think that was the one difference I think they put too much in rola’s hands to always hit that deep end always push the ball down field and it just didn’t have that same flow hogerson simplified it in aspects I think Personnel decisions he’s made and kind of pushing the pressure on the players being more of an honestly that’s what sounds like and that’s what’s helped their offense a little bit but it’s a good offense I that’s you’re you’re kind you’re not going to hold these guys to less of 20 points and not play a good game but you have that kinck environment that’s going to be there and it’s going to be an ordinary crowd like this is time to exercise some demons you get Nebraska a night game at home third Downs are going to be low from the first snap well just even for the Wisconsin game I was just at a couple weeks ago that was one of the best if not the best can crowd I’ve experienced my lifetime and that was against you know an unranked Wisconsin team but you get a rivalry game in a night game environment where everyone’s you know showing up pretty tuned up it’s a full day of drinking yeah and K at night we said at the end of the Wisconsin game or think the Wisconsin preview where you said you you have to be the significantly better team to win at kinck at night like there’s been a couple teams of these lower two teams that will sneak into a KCK Knight game and uh get just completely crushed because the environment is just so you know beyond crazy so their defense is a Forefront most mostly what we’ve seen from a lot of these other college teams where you run a lot of match in uh manto man what I I think the formation I want to call out uh from the jumps which is Tony white uses that nauseum is that double a gap third down look where you play six guys at the line you have five at usually the first down marker you see it across the NFL you see most of college teams employed I think Tony does it more than I think he uses it for almost all third down looks what it does is it forces you to add a man to your uh pass protection and essentially take someone out of the route process so then now you’re playing Five on four rather than five on five um how I’ve seen teams counter it which I wouldn’t be surprised if Lester has AA for this specific defense because you you know you’re so likely to see it uh is late motion to a wide receiver screen you get those interior linebackers if they’re not coming and they’re actually in a manto man uh Zone there they have to cross a formation and if you can get you know a well blocked front side play that guy’s now trailing to the edge and I’ve seen some teams have some pretty big plays on that so I wouldn’t I wouldn’t be surprised if we see some counters to that look and it’s really their like third down specialty yeah I think we’ll see a lot of uh Power looks Mya’s offense in the Run game look back to last year’s scheme with uh the polar bear and Ty Robinson in the middle these two six6 like 320 guys you don’t really want to have them in zone blocking teams schemes consistently because they’re going to be on the outside eye of like the playside guard generally and or whoever the outside like they’re goingon to be outside by some Zone concept generally and that guy’s got to reach him and then win a one-on-one against a guy who’s much bigger them much stronger so I think we employ power Concepts because then you get a down block on these guys they’re not you know super quick so they’re not going to dip under you or dip around you you can more kind of double team them and have like a wall down a wall down and then you can run more counters you can run more pin and poles I think you saw USC and UCLA develop more of a pin and pole style to the edge because you just kind of want to avoid these two these are the two guys on the defense that you have to avoid the dn’s are solid linebackers are solid all four of them don’t really flash like if you just have to like break them down don’t flash on a consistent basis you’re not turning on the film going who the hell is that guy like they’ll have moments but like no moments of like this guy’s you best player on the field so we’re going to be feel comfortable targeting pretty much anyone in their defense outside those 2D tackles in the Run game well one guy you’re missing is I can’t think of his last name now but 48 I saw a couple reps from him where he could close the distance with pace and he seemed to be a very athletic guy a guy that we usually have difficult y blocking on the edge yeah but other than that yeah I think from the their back end they run very similar concept to what Ohio state does 425 or they have this Rover uh kind of quasy strong safety that plays you know at 15 yards in this five high look he’ll done roll down and play some uh interior and then you know play some a lot of strong safety as well but um them wanting to stay in their base I think it’s going to be a big part of this game as well so we’re going to try and force isolations where we have tight ends on safeties and that’s usually where Iowa attacks if we can get a weight advantage on you and we can play this weight Advantage from snap one and you’re like we’re not going anywhere we get we’re going to run right at this guy who doesn’t you know he’s 205 pounds uh it’ll be interesting to have Nebraska adjust to that yeah because they don’t personel sub what I saw it sounds like it’s more they’re pretty thin like I think you saw 16 as their or 16 or 17 as their backup D tackle yeah he’s 285 so he’s not you know like the other two guys and if you’re running a four four down scheme against Iowa they’re seeing a ton of double teams you’re going to need some depth some point so yeah I think that’d be another aspect of this where Iowa late in a game with kinck at night it’s I mean that’s really what this comes down to is how well do the two o line and D lines play against each other and I I feel good about Iowa was o line against this D line I don’t think they’re this unstop Force think you mixing the equation of Iowa playe hyped yeah it’s going to be a good running day yeah I think watching back their Corners to number seven and number six just massive like watching quarterback number seven and six they both have breakdowns in their technique massive ones like in I think against USC I saw seven do a complete 360 on the field you know some guy made an out and up movement he just completely flipped his hips and then just turned his back and just started to run like that just quarterback rule number one never do a 360 while guarding somebody number six had the same thing against uh the Illinois receiver on their first touchdown uh I think Bryant gave him an out move on an RPO and then ran a fly route this guy turned turn to the turns his hips to the sideline and then starts to just turn all the way around and run without even looking at the guy it’s just like that’s if you if you did that under Phil he’d sit you instantly and he talk to you for about four like a month about how you messed up you just don’t see that type of like technique breakdown at Iowa you’ll see guys like make wrong decisions about when to you know jump around or not but you won’t see a guy do 360s against when they’re guarding a receiver that they just turn their back to because they’re just so beat and that type of stuff is like that we’ve seen it from I players this year desan Le’s had a couple refs I don’t know I you got to watch these refs man like I they’re just they’re unique as I all say so you have the opportunity to attack them once against six against USC uh their Speedster they got him in a bubble screen opportunity Speedster got it in a small area it’s the number six had the ability use sideline to get him out of bounds and he somehow didn’t shove him enough or didn’t have the athleticism to to push him and he scored in a situation where I couldn’t believe he got in so I think there’s the corners they do do a good op like a job of getting their eyes back and I think the entire secondary does just giv their defense like Tony white teaches that up well because they’ve had two overthrows against USC and Ohio State Ohio State where these guys aren’t in the play but since their eyes are on the QB and they’re playing the correct technique then they can make a play outside their Zone when they see the ball release they’re they’re being fast to the ball so it’s not like these guys are bums but I think there is opportunities to attack them based on those things we’ve seen I don’t think these are Elite level guys I don’t the body types don’t make sense either six doesn’t look like a true Corner Seven’s just a little thin in his legs like I think there’s an opportunity to go at both of them yeah it’ll be interesting how they attack with Stratton too you know this is going to be a a really big game for him at home and rivalry if you can play well in this role you could have at least a talk for qb1 next year obviously I think he’s a obvious scholarship guy and hopefully going to compete for the backup role next year but huge moment for him and it’s going to be interesting how our Run game develops because I thought we’d struggle against uh Wisconsin to a certain extent we did didn’t struggle at all I thought against Maryland we’d struggle a tiny bit you know it’s been such an up and down season from the o line where you think back to UCLA game where we were getting pushed around in that game Ohio State were getting pushed around um so whatever o l shows up in this game I do think that you know on Senior Day in the environment that’s going to happen you’re going to have an old line very motivated to come out and dominate it could get ugly uh but I think where this is going to lie is Nebraska has always you know got up for this game I don’t think there’s been a game maybe since the Mike riy days he had a couple teams that quit on us but for the most part the Scott Frost uh the Matt Ru seems to get his guys to play really hard I of all the Nebraska coaches Matt Ru is definitely my favorite um but I think I was going to win this game not comfortably because I think we’re going to kind of do the same thing we did against Maryland where we we shut it down the minute we take a lead we’re definitely going to be hunting field goals out there we’re going to try and protect Strat as much as possible especially when in a game where Kirk sees the crowd as being you know our third uh attack in this one um but I’m gonna make a prediction of 2721 Iowa I like that I think it it’s hard not to predict a win I think the line’s a little inflated given the night game I think a big rivalry game you want to say it’s going to go like Wisconsin but then you see how Nebraska just played Wisconsin like Nebraska Wisconsin’s in quit mode that that program’s in turmoil Nebraska’s fan base has definitely circled Iowa I think there’s a lot of contention between the two fan bases right now and I think rule understands if he wins this game convincingly or in a way where they look like the better program in a in a tough environment he can his year three is different looking it’s not under the same pressure and the same guys it’s going to go into if they lose this game at six and six where you kind of lost every game that mattered and your momentum of your program kind of stalls so this is an insanely important game rule I always not gonna have a problem getting up for this one but foru it just kind of defines your team like you got this festar quarterback you clearly have an immense amount of skill Talent your defensive coordinator is the guy you want to hire and the guy you definitely want to keep for a long time Nebraska doesn’t want to be in a moment where like Iowa is equal to them they want to be you know he was hired to bring them above Iowa and that was like the number one requirement like there’s no other reason why he was hired it’s to compete for titles but the second you know one B is we want to beat Iowa convincingly we deserve to be better we’re historic program we’re we won national titles we have you know this massive fan base like that’s where he he definitely is in the offseason put a lot of time into this so I think that’s where this game is goingon to be really good because you have two extremely motivated coaching staffs to win this game and I don’t I 27 21 seems about right I’ll go 24 21 I think we’ll we’ll take I think kenck will be just too much for Rola in this offense and I think we’ll take a a two-core lead at some point in the fourth quarter but I still see Nebraska moving the ball this is going to be they got a lot of guys to go to doesn’t seem like there’s some like if you take away the receivers the Run game is going to struggle if you take away their run game their receivers are going to struggle they got options and a good QB so it’s G be a hell of a game yeah agreed move to pick yep let’s do it next year in the Northwestern plus 10 and a half one of might be the worst it is the worst from the jump from the jump I think it was 10 in the first quarter and it just looked helpless like I just took Northwestern the road against Michigan yeah you did try got cute with him got you just watched him against Ohio State the Weeki and had Iowa I think I I took a would win and then yeah Maryland plus six which is also from the jump I was like what why did I think Maryland was going to show up to this game yeah but for this week I think I’m going to keep it simple just go Iowa minus 5 and a half was the last line we got on on Monday uh and then Minnesota plus two I’ve watched Minnesota All Season they’ve played complete games almost every game Wisconsin’s in disarray I obviously it’s at home in a rivalry game but I think Minnesota is just psychologically in a lot better spot and I think DJ has a chance to put the nail in pickles cough you know there’s not there’s going be a lot of explaining to do with the amount of money that you can bring in and you you know had two cratering years where it’s been the exact opposite what you promised yeah I like that I go Minnesota plus two I think that was it’s a great spot Min Minnesota’s just has more of a defined idea who they are PJ is probably doing some weird psychological technique this week to get them all motivated and have them be completely ready for to go one and0 against Wisconsin I travel to another dimension and then I’m going to go uh NE Dame minus 7 and a half that team’s rolling USC they’re good not great I think nerd Dame is now you know one loss away from being on that bubble of playoff contention very motivated very complete team doesn’t seem like to have any weakness I like them to win by you know 14 17 so I’ll go those my two picks I also went 0 and2 last week as well Indiana they don’t mu that punt that’s a different game not not as bad as your pick 150 yards right but just the crowd got into but you know Signet is still still my dude um and then what’s my other one oh Wisconsin against Nebraska that was this this might if if you’re following these this might be the time to start start fading I think I went I think I lost five straight and I won five straight or like I was like seven and two and now I’ve like lost four straight again so I’m just roller coaster so I’m I’m up uptick coming yep just so you know um we’ll move into our patreon now but appreciate what everyone support this year this is going to be our last episode for about a month um until the bowl game we’re not going to do a postgame Nebraska podcast we’re just going to enjoy Thanksgiving and Christmas with our families kind of take some time off to enjoy it but we’re we really enjoyed this podcast it is an opportunity to build our community we’ve created some really great friendships from this and we love and we’re going to continue to do it I think next year we’re going to be excited to do this all over again maybe get a whiteboard I think that was the next Edition we’ll start going John guden yeah John Gruden’s giv us a lot of inspiration of how to handle this next year so and maybe just you know have the energy he has every day might need some substances to get there but and if you’ve been on the fence about joining our patreon we’re doing a half off sale until Cyber Monday uh so please go out and join it it’s going to be a great way to support us you’ll get our full catalog of this year’s patreon so everything that we released you know about halfway through the season is going to be your have access to it right away these are episodes that you know they have long lifespans they’re not like breakdowns that are going to be not applicable to the program kind of more holistic looks at all the position rooms we’re going to do safeties today we’ve done linebackers dline o line and quarterback running back new recruits so all that stuff is going to be more forward-looking and definitely is still if you’re looking to subscribe definitely palatable you know this late in the season and mostly focused on next year all right well go Hawks go Hawks so jumping right into it we’re going to do a brief breakdown what we’ve seen from the Iowa basketball team so far I think initial Impressions is that Fran hit on his two transfer portal players I think it’s going to be a dramatic change to this Iowa basketball team that we haven’t seen in the past so the and sidu uh both just offer Great Stop gaps for what we’ve seen Iowa really struggle with in the past you now have a defensive point guard who shot the ball really well then the Washington State game obviously had two really clutch threes uh demonstrating ability to be clutched at the end of the games it’s a huge piece of college basketball especially in tournament time especially for point guards too and then what we’ve seen from trior is that he is you know exceptional at the top of the the press uh can really defend the wing players but if you you know break down what we’ve had for Wing Defenders outside the Murrs in the past you know 10 years we haven’t really had lock down Wing Defenders and when you can really offer a guy you know in the Big 10 that’s a large part of how people like to action on our defense he seems to be a guy that could be you know high level top tier Defender out wide MH you know mix in the Sanford Brothers going out and just chucking from Deep it’s so cool like last game I think they both had seven3 attempts that’s got to be awesome for the two of them u a really solid starting point guard and Brock I think we’ll see him kind of play how similar you know Fran does with a starting lineup where the guys who start necessarily don’t play the most minutes but offers a great uh setup man for a really good scoring team around him yeah demele has been more solid than I expected him to be at the start of the season um obviously has a very consistent jump shot hopefully just as his career progresses and as his season progresses we’ll see him take another step when it comes to rebounding I think where his his Gap is at is just you know fun understand the basketball when it comes to positioning you know defensive rotations but he’s playing with a lot of effort which I like to see [Music]
