Roy there there hasn’t been a lot of time for Ruben Amarin to to put in all the changes that he’ll want to see from this Manchester United side did you see what he will want to do in the in the future yeah well we saw um obviously the shape of the team that that that’s that’s the way he’s going to go but you still have the same players out there and the same problems and we talk about leopard in spots the issue we United over the last year or two lack of goals lack of quality in the second half we’re looking at IPS you have them on All Season at home and they looked a better team and if anyone if any team was going to win you felt IPS which were going to we’re going to win it so I think he’d be it’s his first game lot to take in it’s been a mad week or two for him but I think ultimately he’ll be disappointed I think again with the rate the lack of quality in the final third from Man United and towards the end of the game if anyone was going to win it I thought it was going to be up switch which is which is a big concern Roy has described Manchester United at times this season as a team of of moments they’re looking for consistency does this look like a squad who can get to those levels of consistency I think you know you spot on with the moment to comment because I I think that what I haven’t seen in this Manchester United Team for a long time is like relationships you players that combine well with each other players that create things you know off the cuff but also by Design as well and they’ve got a manager in now who’s got a record for design you know he’s got this system that he believes heavily in that he wants to bring to Manchester United we saw it this evening did it work no because they didn’t win and ultimately I think what Ruben Amon wants to be doing is he wants to be winning whilst learning on the job with with this group of players did he have his best available 11 out today no but I think we have to give huge credit to to Kieran McKenna and ipswitch because I thought that the way they played um it was exceptional at times I thought they were Brave that they didn’t let the Hedge drop and I think ultimately they showed Manchester United you know what how it looks to be a team that’s connected we will look at their lip switch in in more detail because it was a really good performance from them and we’ll talk more about the influence that Kier McKenna has shortly as well but in in terms of Ruben amarim and the stamp that he wants to put on on Manchester United and the and the problems that he has to solve is goal scoring the biggest one Jamie yeah of course you’re not got enough goals theyve got quality in the team but I mean there’s a lot of problems you have to solve and when you I’m already fed up talking about this system that he’s going to employ I am it’s because St one Jamie but Kelly this is the players that are in this system right now are not going to be the players in the future you’re not going to see Jenny Johnny Evans as as a left side Center back you’re not going to see Maz RI you’re not going to see the two Wing backs probably who obviously they’re both oppos foot and they’re playing on the outside is that Midfield going to be Casmir and Ericson of course it isn’t so you’re going to try and analyze it’s almost pointless because the system is going to change because the players are going to change and the personnel and then they’re going to look better in a way the best thing that could probably happen is not get fooled by these players right now because after two minutes we’re looking and thinking well the messiah’s here everything’s going to change look how good they look but then they went to they became their true self in the end and they sh that the quality isn’t there so this is going to take time it’s going to take new personnel is going to have to figure it out he’s going to be changing the team probably week in week out searching for who is going to be the right P people in this system and once he gets that then he has a chance but right now you couldn’t pick the team that’s going to be there in six months because you don’t know who’s going to fit into what he wants yeah there are a lot of players in that that side who again to go back to the point have moments of of quality in them are there enough players in the in the squad who have quality consistently no that’s the big problem again this team for last year too it’s all about moments we saw first goal after the minute you think well listen great start a bit of quality bit of pace nice finish from Marcus getting into the areas you want him to be and then United just sat back and you’re going you almost feel like what are you waiting for what are you waiting for IP Swit or a team near the bottom had OBS on the back of a good result at Spurs but a home record KN go after him as if United almost what fearful of going on to win the game the manager obviously made lots of changes in the second half and to be fair you’re thinking listen he’s obviously trying to win the game and he’s still trying to get to know these players but I I suppose at United the position of the league their results they probably maybe lack that confidence and belief but do I believe this group of players have the quality to start getting man united back up towards top four top five I’ve been saying it for for ages absolutely not the evidence isn’t there and again today we come down here take a new manager new bnks and all this is all very positive but then when the game starts and it’s the same old stuff predictable and really lack of quality and again we what we should say is this isn’t on Ruben amaram who’s taking charge of first who is also Jamie on his way over to to talk to us he’s had two weeks to he’s been in a job two weeks but you got to remember everyone’s been in a way on International duty this is going to take time he’s no he’s under no Illusions but the good thing he’s much for coming over to to talk to us good to meet you Kelly hi Reuben um look first game in in charge of Manchester United you’ve had a couple of weeks to work with some of the players that haven’t been on International Duty so what did you learn about them over that 90 minutes um it’s a tough League that we what you learn in the in the first moment um a good environment um I think my my players were thinking too much during the game you can’t feel it they were thinking not just in the ball but where I supposed to be and that is hard with two days because all the team together just two days um we need more I I I think in the first half the physic it because they they leave us one against one in front so we have to to to to to to use that moments to to to to feel the the the opponent uh but it’s a tough match I think we lost some balls uh without pressure and when you when you start a game like this you score one goal and then you have to control the ball you have to control the tempos of of of the game you you can we cannot do it uh at the moment but but they tried they really really tried I know this is is is for some for some guys it’s it’s hard to to understand this but they are really really trying and they they want this when you talk about the players maybe thinking too much is that because they’re they’re thinking about what what you want from them what you’ve asked them to do and and the differences from what they they’re used to doing that’s that’s the the reason uh that’s really his that that reason uh but we have two ways so we try to win just win games in don’t risk nothing in this moment and I guarantee next year at the same stage we will have the same problem so we have to try to to since the first moment uh we will have problems the players will be like confused sometimes but we have to address since this moment the new idea and try to be better in the next year at the same stage oh sorry me next y obviously you’re still getting to know the players but you’re also hoping for a proper football intelligence from some of the players decision making is that is would that be a concern I think that is is a concern because you can understand you don’t need to to to to coach them because at this level you have to keep the ball know the momentum of of to put the ball in front and you you sometimes you feel that you can’t keep the ball and you put the ball in front then you have like uh we are in the end of the game you are rounding the box with two Strikers with just has to understand that he has to go to the box to to have the crosses so we are doing some things that not in the right moment so that is something that we have to address sometimes it’s not the all every every people talk about the 343 that is not the concern the system is a system but the understanding of the game I think we have to improve a lot in this area the system and obviously it’s been the Talk of the Town since you arrived with this system but what have you seen from the players in this last week of training which has impressed you the most and what do you want to take forward from today’s game the most important thing again it’s hard to understand but they want they want this sometimes they don’t know how to get it that’s that was my feeling you can say that is three trainings if they are not excited at at the moment so we have a a big problem then you you you start discovering things I I I didn’t know I think garna can hold the ball between lines you can understand that by seeing the the games because he always open so you you you try to find this this these things Bruno Fernandez I think he improved his game by playing near the near the ball feeling the ball so he can give us like the sometimes the long pass but you you cannot put them there all the time because he want the long pass all the time so we try to find things about the the players and we we will need a lot of times a lot of time to to to work out these he’s going to play attacking football he’s always done that at sporting and I think that’s the biggest issue you think back to the teams Teddy played on the teams that I played on you had three four Strikers and everybody’s got you 15 20 goals 25 goals I think this season United I think they’ve only scored 12 you know so that’s been a huge issue in terms of goal scoring I think Teddy touched on it there kind of the negative Approach at at times in games was also quite frustrating so I think they got to go for it you know they got to believe in these players and have a go play attacking football squeeze the pitch but I think in possession out of possession is going to be super aggressive and I hope that that it comes off because they got so many good players and they can play a lot better than they’re playing at the moment and I just think they need a little bit more confidence and support they’re going to get that I think from from Reuben I think when we played it was different you know you just got told and you had to go do it and if you didn’t you didn’t play I these players are a little bit more sensitive uh and I think Ruben he looks like he’s got like a little twinkle in his eye he looks like he he gets it and what these players need and I’m curious to see how it goes today I’m with Teddy I think this could be tough today here at Port world the atmosphere is going the international break what what can he get across that message in that time Owen but I think you know if I think back to you know Teddy mackam benty myself we never made excuses as players yeah they got a new manager but he’s a he’s a good manager and he’s confident and they’re going to play attacking football that’s all these players want is to go out there and play attacking football I think the time for making excuses is over you know for for Manchester United for players they got to go play attacking football and enjoy it it’s an absolute privilege to play for this football club and they got to bring it back to what it is the manager is going to give them the opportunity to play this attacking football and have a goal and I think that’s all you can ask for the players should go for it today and and have a proper goal play attacking football dominate run a little bit more as well I think ipswitch they they top the Premier League in terms of running stats so so so this will be they’re they not real as what has come before them in terms of what it takes to wear that Manchester United shirt that kind of RAB it in headlights a little bit with some of their performances and you expect more for some of some of the players that have been there a long time people like Marcus rashford who we know can be top top draw he’s been missing for the last two seasons now I’ve and vies at some point he could be Manchester United Captain but his performances have took him so far away from that they’ve brought xery in and even him where does he play what’s his best position is he a number 10 is he a wi player and and when you look at what ten hog spent over 600 million there’s only maybe a couple of signings and that’s me kind of pushing it thinking well he was a good signing like cassimir for the first season I thought maybe was a game changer got them back in the Champions League Onana maybe to a point other than that I can’t see where that 600 million has improved the squad whatsoever where lost away B agre managers have come in both three or four new managers come in he’s both four or five the next manager come in and they’ve lost all style of play all pattern of play where they want to play and now they’ve got they haven’t got a core group like when Teddy played or or when when Owen plays they’ve just got this group of 25 players who were talented on the day but collectively they all just look a little bit lost so maybe this this new manager will come in and go right we’re playing this style of football this is what we want to do and hopefully for Manchester United fans he gets them to a point where he’s going to have to bring his own players in eventually that’s why it might take a bit longer because players but two years on the end of this you know he hasn’t got a long contract has he so I don’t I don’t know what I don’t know what that speaks of whether it’s just the sick and tired of paying managers off and the and staff off when they leave but you know two and a half years in the job I’ll tell you what they haven’t bought there they haven’t bought leaders leaders yeah for me two years ago Harry Kane Dean rice were both up for sale in Fergie time all the top players that came along like a Pala or a Rio Ferdinand yor Yori you know the top players become available he went out and gone or he was in the market to get them they weren’t even in the in the market to get the deam r the top English player a leader someone that goes out on the pitch and says look I’m I’m meant to be playing here are you coming along with me are you going to join me you’re going to come along and and fight with me for the badge there’s too many players out there thinking oh if I do all right today you know I I’ll keep my place that doesn’t keep the whole football club going you need leaders to lead by example and then other players follow along with you and is that owing what you’re intrigued to see today a new system with the new manager but basically with somebody else’s players to see what he can get out of them you know but Steve I think I think Teddy and benty and MAA know as well football’s not about formations it’s it’s overrated people talk too much about for formation football at our level is about competition and you got to compete everybody can play out here but can you compete you know do do you have it in your head and do you have it in your heart so Alex picked us because he knew we were going to be there for him when the chips were down and I think that’s how football is at at the highest level what you playing a threey or four you got Wing backs in the end the players on the pitch they don’t care but but you got to outperform the person playing against you Teddy’s got to score goals Ma has got to create chances you know and I think for us as when I went on a football pitch it was about competition I got to beat the guy in front of me Brian Robson did that Roy Keane did that Paul SC all the players that play for Manchester United did that and I’m with I’m with Teddy they got to get back to that winning individual battle being competitive and when you get the ball going create chances run forward make forward runs make forward passes formations I think is thing it’s a little bit overrated in the end it’s about can you compete and can you can you bring it on the biggest stage which is the most important thing
