let’s discuss Manchester City and their ninth defeat of the Season Pope goola spoke about the being used to Breaking records with City but this is a record he’s struggling to work out so could you ever see him walking away is he unsackable wow it’s so difficult to to talk about pep guol in in in that because it’s so unusual to see it we for so long we’ve we’ve praised him we’ve praised Manchester City and rightly so for everything that that they’ve achieved and it is unusual to see this group of players playing with a lack of confidence which is something that Phil foden actually came out and said last week yes injuries have had a a massive impact on on this season and and pep guardiola’s come out and said it’s not just the injuries it’s there’s a lot of things there’s a lot of things that he’s trying to to find solutions for and at the moment he’s not been able to to quite find those Solutions I think every week we think it’ll be week where we’ll see Manchester City start to to come back to to good form but we just haven’t seen it as of yet but I think pep guol as a manager that he’ll see this as a challenge he’s had lots of challenges throughout his career I think he’ll see this as a challenge to get them out of this this dip in form that that we’re seeing that is just so unusual to see I think it’s fascinating because we’ve never seen this happen before so now he’s getting questions thrown at him that he’s never had thrown at him he’s very spiky in the Press because he’s not been in this situation before um I think when you think back to Liverpool in Co where they suffered and they’d lost van djk and klopp was trying to find ways to to get them back to where they were it took him around about 105 games they went on a terrible run and everyone was like oh is this the end of klopp and his era they’ll find a solution at some point I think there’s a there’s a lot of people at the moment who are who are very reluctant to say anything negative about Manchester City because of him because of what he’s done in the game and and it’s not over a short period this is over an 18year period where he’s being phenomenal at what he’s done the one thing I would say is this is an old Manchester City team now they look old they look leggy when you watch them the recovery runs aren’t the same you look at gundan bought back in he wasn’t bought back in to play every single game he was bought back in to play a bit part role there’s other players within the squad who look tired and and and it looks like it needs a bit of a revamp I look at the two guys in the wide areas and uh I’m talking about doku and and Savino are they are they at that next level that we all thought they would be at and what they were going to bring I think probably not compared to we go back to like mahrez Bernardo silver in his prime greish of cou like at last season all the year before there needs to be a revamp and I think you’ve got to afford him that ability to revamp the team at some point but I I think the concern is is that they haven’t seen it happening and it’s almost now it’s caught up on you but it’s caught up in a big way that that lack of confidence that that that opening 19 seconds of the game does that encapsulate everything that is s because there’s a huge lack of confidence there I mean gardol is a is a is a wonderful footballer to watch when he’s full of confidence isn’t he but the fact that that lack of conf Ence coupled with the fact that Villa knew that and were right bang on them right away shows does that show the fear factors gone teams are more willing to sort of really go at City whereas maybe last season season before they would have kind of sat off them a bit thinking if they get the ball they could be through Us in 10 seconds and that would be a goal I I think there’s a sense of that people look at or have been watching videos and they’re seeing that they’re not as athletic as they were so you could perhaps overrun them a little bit be more physical towards them I think the it’s incredible isn’t it we’re we’re talking about players here who’ve won a treble a couple of years ago they’ve won four League titles on the Trot yet they’re all doubting themselves now doubting whether they’re good enough to play football and doubting whether they can get a result out of a Premier League game it’s incredible what the brain or the mind can do to you stepping over a pitch give them a clean slate they’re all great players they’re all great players and they nine times out of 10 win football games but when that confidence is low I mean Sue have probably been I’ve definitely been there Sue’s probably been there it’s the hardest thing to find a way back into it and sometimes it’s like when when you often hear Go Back to Basics even the basics become difficult and even the basics become a doubt in your mind what usually be a simple firstand five yard pass suddenly you take a touch on it because you want to make sure that that five yard pass makes it that slows everything down you saw there with Jon Stones stepping into an area feels like he’s got to go all the way because he’s thinking I don’t want to get him to turn but then he’s too late before he when he makes that decision every decision that City are making at the moment is one or two seconds too late and in Premier League football that’s too much usually they’re one or two seconds ahead of everyone you just overthink things don’t you I think once you you get into that rut you start thinking this is what I would normally do and by the time you’ve thought that it’s a mistake we saw with the penalty when Nunes give the the ball away then he’s trying to get back to try and make amends and I I do think we we keep saying all these different reasons it still does go back to the injury situation and the fact that when players have dipped in form he’s not been able to rotate those players in that probably you know Kyle Walker had a dip in form usually he would take him out and bring someone else back in he’s not had those players is availability to do that very quickly I just want to touch on what Eren Holland was saying because Pep’s been very clever in protecting his players but Holland came out and said he’s got to do better you know so the players are starting to publicly accept responsibility for this yeah and they will because they know that it’s their fault at the end of the day and they need to improve and get better um but as I say it’s very difficult to find a way out of that rout so they can talk about it as much as they want it’s just how do you get to that point and this is where psychology comes into it a lot and I’m sure they’re working very hard behind the scenes to deal with that and the conundrum that is Kevin De bruyne I think perhaps we’ll only know long term in the aftermath of all of this why he’s not in there what what what’s going on and we’re not privy yeah uh to that sort of information but it has been an unhappy end of the year for Manchester City so far we still got couple of games and they [Music]
