yeah everyone loves uh Wan sto uh Jered krais one thing about me I want wotto my baseball team that’s not shocking uh we did break a record though that was the the fewest amount of times Juan soda was mentioned in the a block we only said his name once that has a that’s so far it’s a record Jared uh for this off season but we’re about to shatter that here uh podcast St MLB Network contributor Jared krais joins us now on MLB tonight good to see you my friend um you really think we’ll start there we’re bringing you on because it’s Cyber Monday and you like to shop I’ve I’ve been hold you’ve GrubHub for 2 years you’ve you’ve Amazon shopped for every you haven’t left your house in for a very very long time so everything about you is online shopping so you’re like a cyber monday uh expert so do you really think the Red Sox your Club will get juano do you like your team’s chances I I don’t love my team’s chances but I kind of like my team’s chances Craig I mean like think about it right like if we’re reading between the lines here the Red Sox have the money to get this done do they have the fit to get it done I believe yes I believe it’s a nice little fit if you’re Juan sto and you’re 26 years old and you’re looking at all the boxes that you want to check I want to build a legacy he already has a ring I want multiple rings can you do that in Boston no franchise has done that better than the Red Sox since 2004 so step right up get your money build your legacy and be the next great Dominican star that wears a Red Sox uniform I like that that he he obviously grew up loving Poppy and Pedro and those were his guys so that does make a little bit of sense and He does care about his legacy and if everyone’s throwing over 1006 $600 million then maybe he’ll let his heartstrings work his way but I I feel like this is too emotional right now Boston fans don’t need to see this this projected lineup it just makes them dream and makes them get way too emotional put Roman Anthony throw his name in there you know you’ve got six top 100 guys we’re not just talking about the 25 lineup we’re talking about the 2029 lineup and what that’s going to look like come on Juan we know you you’re already loved here you’re already a star here come on down you are a a a cyber monday shopping expert for us Cher we appreciate you taking the time to do this so are there any bargain buys out there that you’re noticing online no doubt uh thank you for noting that I don’t like to leave my house that’s a fact I I have designed my house to be something that I never have to have a player that fits the mold of of like a quality buy I’ve got four I’ve got four for you okay uh leading off for me sha manah uh this dude is an ultimate competitor he’s coming off a career high and innings pitch I know we heard a ton about the arm slot being changed during the postseason run the magical Run for the for the Mets postseason uh whoever ends up with this guy know that you’re getting a top of the line like we’re not going to throw around the the term Ace with Shawn manah but this is an individual that given where he’s at in his career now I’m comfortable giving him the ball in a game one of a playoff series I am like he’s just made himself that kind of guy uh where does he fit there’s places I mean you know I you know where I picture him the most Milwaukee I like yeah I like him as a brewer Greg I I think you know he’s going to get his money like this is not someone that’s not going to uh he’s going to get years he’s going to get dollars um but the Brewers are in a position now where they don’t have to break break the bank for this guy and he can slot right in at the top of that rotation I love that you threw the Brewers out there because I’ve been saying a team like the Minnesota Twins right a team that’s ready to win they’re a playoff team they they’ve got money invested in the lineup but they need to do something with the starting rotation to go around with Lopez so I I like where your mind is at like not the Marque teams maybe like the middle of America clubs all right so sha manai is one of your bargain buys give me another one uh next guy up Julio Daniel Martinez uh who I know is not a spring chicken which makes me feel old uh talking about JD in this way but there are plenty of teams out there that they’re going to look at themselves in the mirror and say hey we’re not the the Dodgers we we’re not able to just spend a billion dollars every offseason but JD is a guy that was on his boat down in Fort Lauderdale contemplating retirement this is a guy that can still help you I know the batting average is not JD Martinez like the Ops was not but this was an Ops plus last year of 106 he’s still better than League average and I still think he has plenty left in the tank to be able to help one of these teams that they don’t have a ton of money they need an adult in the room they’re there’s someone there’s teams in there that’s like we need someone that can come in here and change the culture uh give us a boost of offense Cleveland I’m looking at you uh maybe Pittsburgh like I’m not going to send him to a I don’t think I don’t think JD wants to go to a team where he can’t win but I know he wants to go to a team where he can help out and Cleveland and Seattle those those teams stand out to me can I give you a team that I think is the perfect fit for JD Martinez the team that was the perfect fit when they traded for him before I think it was 2017 jie Martinez to the Arizona Diamondbacks Christian Walker more than likely not can bring him back he’s going to get paid in free agency I know JD’s not a first baseman but he’s that right-handed bat that goes right into the middle of their lineup the dude had 29 home runs I believe in like less than 80 games it was crazy Ops over 1100 he was Babe Ruth I couldn’t believe they didn’t bring him back he needs to go back to Arizona that’d be perfect thank God he didn’t go back there because that you know changed my life Greg I don’t think I’d be sitting here today if jie martinz did not go to to Boston in 2018 I forgot life looks a lot different yeah life looks a lot different okay so yeah sha maniah jie Martinez who else uh you know what another uh you know let’s call him a veteran you know let’s not call him an old guy he he’s a veteran he’s a player that can help your team Carlos Santana uh the Ageless Wonder Carlos Santana who will be going into his age 39 season in 2025 I mean you look at the the wins above replacement for him he’s going to be 40 he’s still a 2 and 1/2 win player that that has a ton of value in today’s game uh again still going back to teams that need an adult in the room teams that need a player that has been there done that has the experience and not only all the intangible stuff he can still help you defensively he can help you offensively and he’s he’s a great teammate everyone that he’s played with they swear by this guy so that yeah I don’t know where where do you think he fits Greg you know I I I I know this sounds so C crazy and I know he’s probably doesn’t want to do this but you make a great point there needs to be an adult in the room if you’re going to tear something down and have a historically awful season how many Chicago White Socks are excited to show up to spring training camp you bring in a guy like Carlos Santana and you’re I think you overpay for him because he wants to at this stage of his career wants to be a winner but you want a guy that has as much fun as Carlos Santana has playing baseball and he has had such a ripple effect on young players like you mentioned that’s the kind of Moxy you want in the clubhouse when it has been such thick losing for such a long time on the south side of Chicago I hate to say it but the other fit for me that kind of stands out the Yankees you know if they’re not going to bring back Anthony Rizzo you’ve got Ben rice could Mentor him uh the Yankees are going to need a a a a boost of morale after they lose woto to the Red Sox so I I think you know you know Carlos Santana to the Bronx is nice little fit there see Jared I got I got Paul goid going to the New York Yankees play first base that’s my take yeah that would be a barain bu if I was the Cyber Monday expert I would be saying Paul gmid to the Yankees be one of my bargain buys but you said you had four so before before we let you go because you’re in a rush to go back to your house that you never leave give me your fourth B bargain bu yeah this guy uh I hope he gets a multi-year deal I have all the confidence in the world that he’s going to help whatever team he goes to next Shane Bieber the 2020 sa Young Award winner still has a ton left in the tank to go out and help somebody entering his age3 season um this is someone where you know any team that’s kind of losing a starter like Baltimore uh maybe they lose Corbin Burns they can go out and add a Shane Bieber this is I don’t know where you fall on uh on the Bieber discourse but I’m very high on his ability to be able to help a team this year I I am surprised that you didn’t mention your own team I think the Boston I can’t go all I understand I I get it and you’re being professional I appreciate you doing that but I think the way he spins a baseball Falls so in line with what the Red Sox are doing Andrew Bailey has changed their approach to pitching but his stuff he’s going to come back fully healthy would be number one in that rotation immediately and I like the guys I have in the rotation but I think he just fits with what they need right now and because he is coming off an injury you’re not going to have to break the bank per se to get him I I think Boston’s the perfect fit for Shane beer the other team that I’m worried about Greg the Rays I I think that because he spins it and it’s a it’s a lowrisk high reward Type move yeah it’s it would kill me if he stayed in the division here in the AL East and didn’t come to the Red Sox went to the Rays instead but I can see the fit I totally see the fit well and I said earlier with my friend yand right here um that the New York Mets aren’t done and Shane Bieber has the pedigree that if he it all came back together he’s won a sa young before could you imagine could you hey Shar this loads of fun man uh uh what are your
