pairing him with JJ reic Tobias Harris Joel embiid and Ben Simmons and had it not been for this one play then this could have potentially been the most successful Philadelphia 76ers season ever Jimmy huge problem was further exemplified by the team that they were defeated by in the NBA Playoffs you see in the first round versus the Boston Celtics the Miami Heat met a brand new Celtics team a team that Acquired chrisps porzingis and Drew holiday that still had Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown a team that had tremendous chemistry with one another and incredible depth at the same time and even though the Boston Celtics weren’t at full strength they were still able to defeat the Miami Heat without Jimmy Butler and Jimmy Butler made sure everybody knew that had he had played things would be significantly different got it 1 2 three action if I was playing Boston to be at home so instead of going from an eighth seed all the way to the NBA finals like they did the year prior this time the for the sponsor but there was one thing that we could all agree with the Miami Heat were officially overmatched in the Eastern Conference even before the off season they were overmatched by the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks even going into the offseason when you took a look at the improvements that the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks made it wasn’t looking good for the Miami Heat but if you take a step back and you take a look at the Eastern Conference currently the Cleveland Cavaliers are the best team in the Eastern Conference at the time of this video with a 21-4 record the Boston Celtics are favorite to repeat and they’re in second place the Orlando Magic are surging and they haven’t even been at full strength for most of the season the New York Knicks are still trying to figure things out but once they do establish their team chemistry there’s no question in my mind that they have the potential to be the best team in the East if they stay fully healthy and tibs doesn’t kill his whole team off and they’re in fourth place then you have the Miami Heat in fifth place which granted they’ve been dealing with injuries throughout the season with Jimmy Butler but underneath the Miami Heat you have the Milwaukee Bucks that have just started to figure it out and we have a whole separate video on how they just started to figure it out that I’ll leave in the end screen for you guys to check out and somewhere down there is a team that I expect to eventually Leap Frog into the playoff picture and that’s the Philadelphia 76ers I know it sounds delusional but I actually believe in them and that’s the basis of this trade rumor this is why so many people are convinced that Jimmy Butler will be traded by the NBA trade deadline this is why I was convinced Carl Anthony towns would have been traded by the trade deadline last year but he ended up getting TR traded in the off season this is one of those trade rumors that just makes way too much sense for it not to happen because technically speaking Jimmy Butler is on an expiring contract he does have a $52 million player option that he could choose to opt into but given the fact that he is 35 years old and he’s going to be 36 years old if he opts in there’s a good chance that he would probably opt out so he can maximize his value so he could get one more big payday before he turns 39 or if he stays with the Miami heed he could sign a contract until he turns 40 but the problem is the Miami Heat can’t afford Jimmy Butler even if they wanted to sign him to a Max contract but if you take a look at where the Miami Heat currently are in regards to the luxury tax they’re $13.9 million over the luxury tax which means they’re $9.2 million over the first apron and they’re just barely getting by without going into the second apron they’re $1.6 million under the second apron which means that the heat can still aggregate players in trades as long as the end result is them staying under the second apron but since they’re over the first apron they can’t take back more salary in a deal than they send out because that would trigger a first apron hard cap so the Miami he’d have multiple incentives to do this one is so their highest paid player can be younger they can’t afford to be paying Jimmy Butler into his late 30s especially when your core of bam AIO Tyler hero are significantly younger than Jimmy bam aobo is currently 27 years old and Tyler hero is 25 years old which is 10 years younger than Jimmy Butler but when you also consider the fact that maining jimmmy Butler doesn’t provide much upside Miami Heat are still not going to be one of the most dominant teams in the Eastern Conference they’re not good enough to defeat the Boston Celtics at full strength the Cleveland Cavaliers I don’t think they could defeat the New York Knicks in a playoff series and that’s me banking on the Knicks getting even better as time goes on I don’t even think that they could beat the Milwaukee Bucks if the Milwaukee Bucks are full strength when you consider all of these factors together then the Heat have no choice but to trade jimmmy Butler now the counterargument to what I’m saying is is why would the Miami Heat decide to trade Jimmy Butler if the lineup of Tyler hero Jimmy Butler Duncan Robinson Haywood heith and Bam a bio leads the NBA in net rating and the quick answer is is this is just not sustainable production which brings us to why not only I Believe Jimmy Butler is about to get traded but Shams shna actually reported on this so originally in an article that Shams wrote a perennial postseason performer his teams have made the playoffs in 12 of his 13 seasons including the five previous seasons in Miami where he led the Miami Heat to two finals births and one additional Eastern Conference Finals parents the heat are open to listening to offers for Butler and making a deal if the proposal is right and Butler’s agent Bernie Lee has indicated in League circles that Butler is open to destinations such as two of the Texas teams Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks and the Golden State Warriors Butler is a native of Houston above all though he is believed to prefer a win now title contender in any trade teams have also been informed that Butler intends to opt out of his deal in the offseason and become a free agent the Heat have hovered around the play in tournament over the last two seasons and with Butler’s contractual status they have been open-minded to trade in this would turn into an allout War but before we get to the war Shams even indicated the teams that are most likely to trade for him the Warriors are looking to add a star player a playmaker scorer alongside Steph Curry and Draymond Green Golden State pursued Utah Jazz star Lori Markin and Paul George as a free agent last off season and is expected to remain aggressive this deadline a Telltale moment happened for the Warriors on Friday night when Curry green and Coach Steve Kerr spoke about this being fourth year forward Jonathan kinga’s time to take the mantle and green accepted a bench roll for kaminga to start at power forward so we have a completely separate video on that it’s in our previous upload in regards to the Golden State Warriors swinging a huge trade I threw Lebron and bronny on the thumbnail primarily because there’s an outlandish rumor that LeBron for the most part the Golden State Warriors would be interested in a trade for Jimmy Butler primarily because Jan kaminga is a restricted free agent and they haven’t been able to come to terms on a contract extension for him when you consider the fact that this is Uncharted Territory they don’t know what kinga’s worth is bear in mind fron Wagner got a huge bag from the Orlando Magic that originally a lot of fans thought was aggressive a 5year $224 million contract extension people were wondering whether or not it was worth it because if you make one misstep in the new CBA it could out very soon in the case of the Orlando Magic and fron Wagner it was money well spent fron has been absolutely incredible this year going from a 20 points per game type player shooting 28% from three to a 25 points per game type player shooting 32% from three the magic are currently third place in the Eastern Conference so clearly this was the right decision but in the case of the Golden State Warriors they didn’t give Jonathan kaminga as much playing time as FR Wagner did and Jonathan kaminga wasn’t given as much of a role as fron Wagner had so they don’t know if he deserves this type of money and when you consider the fact that they’re trying to maximize the tail end of Steph Curry’s Prime it’s very risky just paying based off of potential now Draymond Green took the benching very well of course I’m okay with it I have been one of JK’s biggest fans since he’s been here and so if he has an opportunity to start you can’t be hypocritical and they’re like yo we want him to start but it’ll be for you and you can’t be like ah it’s not for me like that don’t work like I’m a fan of his I want to see him do well for the Golden State Warriors they would have to trade Andrew Wiggins DeAnthony Melton and Jonathan kaminga in return for Jimmy Butler and this is possible because if the Golden State Warriors are going to lose Jonathan kaminga anyways you might as well get something for him in return but that’s not the only team that could potentially trade for Jimmy Butler and this is where it gets really interesting Shams would take it one step further and this would start an allout War according to Shams the Phoenix Suns are another team that Jimmy Butler’s agent Bernie Lee has indicated in League circles that the six-time allar is open to as a destination while Miami listens to trade offers sources tell ESPN this joins the Dallas Mavericks the Houston Rockets and the Golden State Warriors obviously in this case the team that the Miami Heat would want to be engaged with the most would be the Golden State Warriors because chances are the Golden State Warriors would include Jonathan kaminga in a trade for Jimmy Butler but I also think a lot of this depends on the bidding for Jimmy Butler and I don’t think it’s going to be that heated of a race especially when you consider the fact that you’re trading for a player that is 35 years old that could become a free agent in the off season that has already left a contending team in the off season after being traded to said Team a few months prior whereas if you compare it to the Phoenix Suns the Phoenix Suns would essentially agree to a swap the Phoenix Suns would probably trade Bradley Beal in return for Jimmy Butler and Josh Richardson the Phoenix Suns would do this in order to give jimmmy Butler a test run but also get out of Bradley Beal’s contract you could take the Houston Rockets out of this list because the Houston Rockets aren’t interested in trading for Jimmy Butler they came out and said it and I honestly don’t blame them why would you trade Jaylen green or any of your young assets for a 35-year-old that could leave in the off season I don’t really blame them but the final team on this list would be the Dallas Mavericks the Mavericks would have to trade PJ Washington Daniel Gafford Maxi kba Quinton Grimes and Dwight pal in return for Jimmy Butler now I’m sure the Miami Heat would love to accept that I don’t know how much this improves the Dallas Mavericks I don’t think it’s a trade that the Mavericks really need to make consider the fact that they are fourth place in the Western Conference it would be a lot of fun to watch but it guts them of a lot of their depth and a lot of their role players so I personally wouldn’t do it if I was them now remember we’re 2 months away from the NBA trade deadline Thursday February 6 2025 so the team that Jimmy Butler gets traded to is very dependent on multiple variables how good are the Golden State Warriors as is are the Phoenix Suns significantly better once Kevin Durant returns to the lineup are things not working out for the Dallas Mavericks and do they need to make a big trade do Jonathan kaminga the next coming of Giannis and atmo do the Miami Heat magically surged to the top of the Eastern Conference there’s just so much at play here that this is definitely an early insight into the Jimmy Butler situation these situations could potentially get Jimmy Butler to a contender on a team that would even potentially pay him more than the Miami Heat would so saying that this wouldn’t help him or Jimmy Butler is just a lie being upset that this got leaked out is a completely different story and as a matter of fact Shams would not only clap back on this situation but it’s almost as if you would get fellow insiders to team up with him I’ve never seen like this it’s like the Avengers of insiders going up against Jimmy Butler’s agent here first you had former NBA player Chandler Parsons talking about the least likely scenario and that’s the Houston Rockets when you look at a team like this I think Jimmy Butler goes to Rockets I think he thinks he’s the number one option and I think that’s not the best situation for Jimmy Butler right now to me it’s Dallas I think you go there and there’s a pecking order it’s known this is Lucas’s team there there’s Kyrie and then there’s Jimmy Butler and weaknesses of for their team is defense so I think he can provide them a lot of things and fill a lot of holes that they don’t have quite yet the Warriors I don’t it’s like it’s cool to maximize Steph Curry the next couple years and put a Jimmy Butler with him but I don’t think it’s like the Phoenix Suns I don’t think that puts them into that Contender category so to me it’s Dallas I think he would give would be Jimmy Butler and so um because trade season opens basically on Sunday when the 15th comes around and almost 90% of the league can be traded right now about a third of the league can’t be traded I think that’s why you’re seeing interest pick up um the teams are going to start talking to each other and also team the players who want to get into comfortable situations um with their contracts are going to start trying to leverage their position so this clears up a lot more now we have an idea of why Jimmy Butler’s agent may have potentially been pissed off about the information leaking out and it’s because Jimmy Butler would prefer to sign with the Miami Heat but the Miami Heat aren’t necessarily interested in signing Butler to a contract extension presumably so they could this situation you no longer play above average players or former Allstars that haven’t made an All-Star team in the past year or even possibly two years maximum money and more that time is gone so this could have been a ployed by the Miami Heat to try to get Butler for less but here’s the craziest part Shams wouldn’t only double down on this take Shams would triple down on his take and then I saw Jimmy Butler’s agent come out and say something about your reporting on that particular story I know you wanted to comment about that I want to hear what you have to say at 1,00% stand by my reporting it’s fully vetted and as a professional that’s what that’s what that’s what I do that’s what I get paid to do that’s what I’m going to do report truthfully and accurately that’s what this is period so it’s truly a bizarre situation but ultimately I trust chams I’ve always trusted chams he’s rarely ever led us astray and bear in mind when I say he hasn’t led us astray it’s not a guarantee that Butler gets traded to one of these teams but no team is going to come out and say hey we’re trying to trade for Jimmy Butler Jimmy Butler’s agent isn’t going to come out and say hey we want Jimmy Butler to sign in Miami but they’re not willing to pay him that’s what shom’s job is Butler can end up on another team that isn’t these three but all the behind the scenes info that Shams has brought to us in the past makes a lot of sense given the situation that Butler is in given the situation the Miami Heat is in given the situation that the Phoenix Suns Mavericks and warriors are in the only team that seems a little far-fetched to me is the Houston Rockets regardless I think this situation is insane and I’m going to make sure I keep you guys up to date on it if you guys want to hear more from the Golden State Warrior side of things there are three potential trade scenarios that the Warriors would engage in one of them being the farfetched scenario of bronnie and LeBron joining them
