back in studio Joe muso Emory hunt and Ryan Wilson fellas again you know where I where I reside Chicago through and through and we try and watch these games objectively that I do so I’ll just I’ll just punt I’ll just punt the ball to you fellas because I want to hear how you feel I don’t know how I’m supposed to feel following a different way that this team has found to lose little things an issue once again here Ryan what’ you see from the Bears yeah you pointing to me I’m not going to pull DeAndre Carter and wave it then have the ball hit me in the knee and lose the the ball as a mu punt but I think the bigger issues what you talk about details it feels like this team is close I think Thomas Brown was a godsend in terms of replacing Shane waler an offensive coordinator we’ve seen a better Caleb the last two weeks but the issue the saying the devil in the details is a perfect encapsulation of what this 2024 Bears team has been because you could go to One play two plays every single week and point to this is why you lost the game and until that gets fixed it’s going to be the same old same all we we were sort of talking about well young players are learning to play football these guys didn’t start playing football two weeks ago they’ve been playing football for 20 years most of them so then you have to point to okay who’s calling the the plays up top it’s the head coach and Joe you’ve had some serious conversations with yourself about mattl and his future and I think those are fair questions I don’t think I don’t wish for anyone to get fired but if you go on television and do the things that Matt does as a CO football coach they’re gonna yeah that there’s the exit right so those are the answers we have to find uh as we get through this thing I applaud Caleb Williams for playing better and for sticking through some tough times the defense is we know how good they can be uh but it says something when Sam darnold who we uh forever thought wasn’t a good quarterback lands in the right system Kevin oconnell you put Justin Jefferson around him you give him Aaron Jones and T.J hackinson and oh suddenly he’s not that bad so those are the questions you have to get the answer Emory trying to see the forest through the trees or the the trees through the forest however that one goes what did you make of the day here for Williams because it looks like a young man who’s not just growing in his role and his comfortability in the offense but one who really welcomes the moments like we saw at the end of this game yeah you kind of want him to continue to grow and build on some of these type of situations and I think that’s where we’ve seen him have some success but we were talking about the same type of things that we were talking about with Justin Fields with the bear so that tells me the combat denominator of Ryan teston it is Matt eflu because they’re losing games this year like they were losing last year they have these games I get where you’re coming from I ain’t seen none of those throws from Justin Fields there were about five in this game that only a few dudes in the world have so I’ll stop your comparison point there I understand where you’re coming from they lost and some of that is inflicted by the head coach I get the point you’re making but the but the point is Phils wasn’t the reason why they were losing Caleb is not the reason why they are losing UND and the the the whole thing is when you look at the little things and we talked about this while we’re watching the game the Muff punt by Carter that’s one not recovering the fumble of the Muff punt in overtime the drops by KT on crucial third down situations couple by Keenan Allen couple by Keenan Allen before he got hot you know and then the fourth down with Caleb Williams saw it correctly just entr trusted early to get the ball outre stretched those plays add up yeah and so I think that all falls on coaching and that’s where they’re going to have to clean up that mess because obviously the talent is there for Chicago uh Williams is getting better he’s trusting his athleticism a little bit more get out of the out of Dodge and scrambling for first downs all of those things you saw at USC and Oklahoma you’re seeing here in Chicago and this was supposed to be a win but this is those little things them supp like driving down the Kyo Santos gets Chicago’s supposed to win this game but at the end of the day those little things add up it tells me the coaching at H Hall is not about tying up those loose ends I’ll say this I think Thomas Brown is the right right guy to be calling plays and getting Caleb in position to have success but it goes back to the details and I’ll ask you this Joe um would Caleb Williams have more success in Washington this year likely I think that the coaching is there I would argue still that the talent is a little bit deeper in Chicago in terms of off absolutely and that’s the exact point doing less with more in Chicago follow up how about in Denver with Shawn pyton do you think Caleb would have more success there yes is the answer and you can just look at BO Knicks like none of us thought Bo Knicks was a possible first round pick he’s doing what’s asked of him and Caleb look Caleb isn’t without having his finger having the finger pointed him he held it a little long a couple play but he’s gotten better the last two weeks and you want to look for growth and when you talk to people around the league they they think Matty is is a great person yeah it just hasn’t translated yet in terms of being able to manage an organization and sometimes I we say this a lot you can be a great coordinator not necessarily be a great head coach those are two different job descriptions and you get promoted on what you did as a coordinator to a completely different job if we go any longer I’m have to pay you as my therapist so here a quick thought on the Minnesota Vikings before we do break which we have to because 9 and two they say you are what you’re record is are they are they a 9 and2 team yeah absolutely I I look Brian Flores is doing his part on the defensive side and Sam donal’s balling out that’s I will say this they got the new reincarnated version of Anthony Carter and Chris Carter with Jordan Jefferson and Jordan Adison these two dudes are outstanding and what about Darnell is impressive he’s not allowing those bad plays to linger he’s overcoming those things and making positive plays for his football team because his coaching staff trust him fin Bingo positioned with an opportunity now at 9 and two we’ll see what they look like relative to the top talent in the NFC as they take care of the Bears in dramatic fashion here on Sunday a look at your longest active losing streak in overtime games the Bears Jesus I wasn’t expecting that the production staff loves me surprise surprise they find new and interesting ways each and every week these Chicago Bears but when it comes to overtime the struggle continues albeit it was a one coin toss and then a three and out for Chicago here in this overtime [Music]
