Its has been pretty clear for a while that Nikola Jokic needs some help if the Denver Nuggets are going to contend in the Western Conference this season.
The trade rumors involving Zach LaVine, Jimmy Butler, Cam Johnson and Jordan Poole have all surfaced in the last 24 hours. On today’s NBA Rundown I explore if any of these are truly options that can be worked in the Nuggets salary cap .

I swear watching The Joker actually play on this year’s version of the Denver Nuggets actually reminds me of the time that FedEx completely lost Tom Hanks and Stranded him on a desert island if you will I think at some point The Joker is actually going to grow a beard down to his waist rip his shirt off and start yelling Wilson I don’t have a up no I don’t take I got no love for the fak if you want to play tough and want to hate this I’ll show up and coming up on the NBA run down today we’re going to talk about the Joker and how the Denver Nuggets can actually prevent him from growing a beard all the way down to his waist and ripping his shirt off what kind of moves can this Denver Nuggets team make with very little sour cap room that is the question now we are going to talk about about The Usual Suspects and the hottest suspect as of this afternoon is the Chicago Bulls Zach LaVine we’ll talk about Zack LaVine and what it would actually take for the Denver Nuggets to actually pull that off we will also bring up Jimmy Butler because you have to bring up Jimmy Butler there’s a couple other players I wanted to mention as well which includes Jordan pool of all people and there’s one more player in Camp Johnson that I think makes a lot of sense for a wide variety of reasons for this Denver Nuggets team now you might be asking yourself this question has the Denver Nuggets window officially closed and at this point I wouldn’t say that it’s closed especially when you have essentially the best basketball player in the world in one The Joker that being said if you expected Jamal Murray to actually live up to his contract you know that contract where he’s actually just making $36 million this year but some four years from now is actually going to scale all the way up to $62 million a year not bad for a guy that appears to be beginning to start to ski down if you will the backside of career Mountain Jamal Murray is actually averaging three less points a game playing four more minutes than he has in the past now we understand that Jamal Murray has some injuries and he’s playing hurt and that certainly can affect a player’s ability to actually from a statistical standpoint put up the same kind of stats that they did before that being said The Usual Suspects in terms of who the Denver Nuggets might actually go out and get include Jordan P certainly include cam Johnson and certainly include Jimmy Butler who’s on everybody’s trade list now the Jimmy Butler deal would certainly be a complex deal for the Nuggets to actually pull off both from a salary cap perspective and the fact that Jimmy would have to basically agree to stay with the nuggets in the future in order for them to actually make a deal happen and in order for them this is the Nuggets to actually make a deal happen they’d actually have to most likely trade away their last number one pick which I believe is in 2031 they’d have to trade that away and probably give up on Michael Porter Jr who by the way is some 10 years younger than Jimmy Butler so Jimmy Butler aside the other big news of the day at least related to these Denver Nuggets has been all of the Zack line talk it’s basically been everywhere and when you think about what the Joker has had to endure at least so far this year in their 14 and 10 start to the season the Joker is basically if you will he he’s like a guy that’s only 175 lb he’s a six-footer so he’s thin and he’s actually attempting to bench 300 lb without a spotter that is what the Joker has been doing there has been very little secondary support from the rest of this team now if you look at the statistics from a team standpoint the Denver Nuggets are actually the fifth highest rated team in the NBA right now uh from an offensive perspective so you might be asking yourself why are the Nuggets actually primarily looking at offensive weapons on the defensive side they’re currently ranking basically middle of the road somewhere between 15 and 13 on the defensive side of the ball and we know when the playoffs start Mike Malone will have this team play in a different blend of Defense at that point that being said Zack LaVine would also most likely cause the Denver Nuggets to have to trade away a Michael Porter Jr who once again is significantly younger than Zack LaVine now Zack LaVine is averaging basically Four Points more a game right now than Michael Porter Jr Zack LaVine is also shooting around 42% from the three-point Arc versus Michael Porter Jr’s 38 .5% so you might be asking yourself is Zack LaVine a better defensive player than a Michael Porter Jr and you have to ask yourself that question if you’re going to be serious about bringing Zach LaVine in because you are most likely going to have to use that last first round draft pick and Michael Porter Jr’s contract to actually get a deal done and what do you really end up with at that point you have to remember Zack LaVine last season actually only played in 25 games we know that Zack LaVine certainly can be injury prone so do the Nuggets really want to roll the dice on breaking up their young nucleus of Michael Porter Jr for Zack LaVine now it is a Nob brainer if they can get away without having to trade Michael Porter Jr for Zack LaVine and no they can’t trade Jamal Murray at this point he signed that new contract so he can’t be traded this year they’d have to wait until next season to actually unload Jamal Murray if they really wanted to look I love Jamal Murray’s game it’s just that he’s not quite the same player he was the year that they actually won the ring for Denver that being said a LaVine deal which I think would be a very interesting deal for this team to make most likely would require trading Michael Porter Jr if they could get away with not doing that and give up a bunch of other things it might actually make a lot of sense and there is also the possibility that you’d be able to get the Chicago Bulls to actually eat some of the salary as apparently the Chicago Bulls have been shopping Zach for like 24 months at this point he’s turned into a Kmart Blue Light Special all right for you young people out there you got to look up what a Kmart Blue Light Special is that’s exactly what Zack LaVine has sort of turned into at this point so those are the two big names the Jimmy Butler and the Zack LaVine uh possibility the other players that the Nuggets could actually go out and get and not have to give up Michael Porter Jr for would cam Johnson and most likely a Jordan pool these are people’s contracts who are a little bit less than what Zack LaVine is currently making and if they wanted to hold on to a Michael Porter Jr they certainly would have the ability to do it on top of Michael Porter Jr the Brooklyn Nets I don’t think would want to eat or have Michael Porter Jr’s contract actually sitting on their books for too long to begin with as the Brooklyn Nets have clearly gone out and flown the white flag that they are officially doing what the Pelicans are probably about to do which is start a complete and utter rebuild so at the end of the day the Denver Nuggets certainly need to find a way to get Joker some help I mean he’s doing everything he can possibly do he is lifting those weights without a spotter all by himself he’s hanging out on a desert island all by himself yelling at a volleyball that is where the Joker is at this point and there’s a reason why the Joker is once again putting up most valuable player numbers it is turned into a bit of a shame that the Denver Nuggets haven’t been able to get or at least the players they do have haven’t really stepped up to the point yet where they are actually really helping this Denver Nuggets team turn into a legitimate Contender this year on a final note the Denver Nuggets are not that far away from being a legitimate Contender especially when you have Joker you’ve got Jamal Murray you’ve got Aaron Gordon they have some really nice pieces they need some help on the defensive side of the ball that’s clear here but they also need some three-point shooting which is why I brought up Jordan pool in the first place yes Zack LaVine certainly is doing a good job from a percentage standpoint from the three-point Arc this year but once again they most likely would have to give up Michael Porter Jr and at that point aren’t you really just sitting there with a wash and not only sitting there with a wash are you suddenly sitting there with an older sort of version of what Michael Porter Jr is at least from a statistical standpoint all right love to know what your thoughts are on the Denver Nuggets at this point please go and drop your comments in and if you are new to the Channel please go ahead and subscribe and of course like this video for the NBA rundown I’m Dave dbah wishing you all a tremendous rest of your Sports viewing day I don’t have a up no I don’t take I got no love for the fithness if you want to play tough and want to hate this I’ll always show up and make a statement I don’t never up
