welcome back to another the episode of rock boys football Shane Beamer the South Carolina Gamecocks Landing another commitment coming out of the transfer portal in former Kentucky tight end Jordan Dingle this is not going to be a commitment that makes a ton of national media headlines but a commitment for South Carolina that I think makes a ton of sense and you look at Jordan Dingle what’s the best asset that he brings to South Carolina what this can do kid can do as a run blocker you know whether it’s as an HB back whether it’s split out wide whether it’s blocking inline as a tight end this kid can get it done in the Run blocking Department it’s not always the flashiest thing to talk about when you’re talking tight ends you always look at the box score talk about the receiving production look Shane Beamer and South Carolina they just showed us the recipe in the back half of 2024 you know run the football play good defense win a lot of football games Jordan Dingle although might not be a guy that catches for 750 or th000 yards in 2020 is going to be a veteran tight end that’s played a lot in the SEC and can get it done in the Run blocking department and it’s becoming a lost start for a lot of these tight ends you know a lot of these tight ends who are getting recruited out of high school they’re kind of just glorified big bodied wide receivers they don’t really like to inline block that much Jordan Dingle that’s what he likes that’s what he did at Kentucky and that’s what excites me the most about South Carolina adding him to this offense where you look at Michael Smith a guy that certainly can get it done in the the Run blocking Department too he’s probably going to be the tight end that is putting up the prolific receiving yards for South Carolina as Jordan Dingle is probably going to be a little bit more of that run blocker and South Carolina likes to run a lot of 12 Personnel two tight ends on the football field Jordan Dingle and Michael Smith you know they balance each other out quite well in terms of the skills and traits that they bring to the South Carolina offense and I think secondly Mike schula taking over the tight end position is going to continue to be utilized in this South Carolina offense and it’s a very important part to the South Carolina offense go back to last year I mean who led South Carolina in Targets in catches in receiving yards and in receiving touchdowns it was tight end Joshua Simon like this a a tight end role that is very important for South Carolina where not all offenses need that much production from the tight ends you need that from South Carolina you want to load up as many good tight ends as you can in that tight endend room because you’re going to lose a lot you’re going to use a lot of them and they’re going to play a big role in the offense even go back to Mike schula in Carolina working with Cam Newton you know who was the leading pass catcher every single year for Cam Newton it was Greg Olsen so the tight ends play a massive role in the South Carolina offense not only as pass catchers but what they can do blocking in the Run game I think Jordan Dingle can add one just a proven body in the SEC and what he done what he’s done at Kentucky but more importantly just continuing to build up that room of tight ends that’s so valuable to South Carolina want to get into a little bit more of Jordan Dingle talk about what he can bring to the South Carolina offense talk about a few more transfer portal targets that we’re still monitoring now before we get into it as always to the South Carolina fans it it’s been a blast talking this team really starting talking this team when they started cooking in 2024 and the amount of support y’all have shown the boys has been amazing about this the last couple of weeks I think South Carolina’s primary focus during that first week of the transfer portals hey let’s take care of the guys that we have on this roster and they did a great job of it I mean South Carolina has not lost a lot of players that were going to be massive contributors in 2025 and that’s really important when you have a young talented roster with such a strong nucleus that South Carolina does make sure you’re taking care of them before you go out and try to sign all the flashy names in the transfer portal I think South Carolina’s done that the first week they kind of took care of what’s in their house now over the next couple of weeks we’re going to see South Carolina get aggressive in the portal start bringing some guys in so you get a little bit more into Jordan Dingle I think the the the exciting conversation with him is H what’s the ceiling as a pass catcher like we know what he can do as a run blocker you know whether it’s as an HB back whether it’s an inline tou him whether it’s out on the perimeter what can he be as a pass catcher the the production from him at Kentucky is not groundbreaking we all know what that Kentucky offense has looked like the last couple of years for one it’s an offense that doesn’t necessarily utilize the tight ends they kind of ran that offense through guys like bar and brown and Dan key more importantly hasn’t really had a ton of help at the quarterback position so although Jordan dingles coming in with not a real proven track record of being a Difference Maker as a pass catcher I’m not ready to rule out that he can’t be that for South Carolina in offense that wants to use their tight ends and get them involved and has quality quarterback playing Lenor sers so you know you’re getting a good guy in terms of helping you out with numbers in the Run game I think you don’t really know what you’re getting as a pass catcher but you get a proven pass catcher I’m not saying Jordan Dingle is not a good pass catcher but you don’t really know how good he can be until he gets to South Carolina and gets in this offense and at the end of the day you got a really young talented tight end and Michael Smith that that’s a a position the tight end spot that’s hard to really Master early in your career so as Michael Smith continues to develop and this kid has a very bright future you’re bringing Jordan Dingle to kind of you know bridge that Gap a little bit at the tight end position now talking about some other options for South Carolina in the transfer portal will continue there’s no no news coming out of Justice hands he’s supposed to visit South Carolina on Thursday no news is good news if you’re South Carolina right he’s on campus right now where I believe visiting miss the longer that goes with him not committing to miss the better sign it is for South Carolina and I believe he’s gonna visit Michigan over the weekend to me you look at South Carolina and I’m a many of yall know I’m a Michigan fan so we’re we’re kind of going after the same guy here South Carolina and Michigan but especially South Carolina’s gonna be a damn good fit for a guy like justice SS for the reason Justice hands is transferring from Alabama is not because he couldn’t crack that running back rotation or wasn’t a good running back he’s one of the backs that he’s the best back in my mind in the transfer portal I think certainly could be one of the best backs in the country South Carolina’s got to be be an appealing spot I you just saw what rocket Sanders does one you know South Carolina’s goingon to run the football and two South Carolina’s looking for that guy that they can ride in 2025 if you’re Justice hnes you’re looking at that and saying I get to play with a elite quarterback Lenor sellers in an offense that wants to give me the ball and let me get my touches makes a lot of sense for South Carolina and we say this all the time yeah building around Lenor sers it starts with some of the pass catchers giving Lenor sers a good run game to work off of is just as important and Justice hands is surely gonna help in that department last one I want to talk about a guy that it sounds like South Carolina could be in a good spot as was with Dominic Adis and as a Michigan fan I’m pretty familiar with him came in as an edge rusher transitioned to the inside of the offensive line won the job for Michigan coming out of fall camp and as a Michigan fan who’s always reading those fall practice reports Sports sounded like this kid was going to be a stud for Michigan it didn’t totally work out that way but I trust Chiron more and what he saw during fall camp like I know this kid can play at the very least you’re getting a guy that started games in the Big 10 coming into an inside of the offensive line that’s losing a lot of experience I think this one would make a lot of sense as well for South Carolina we’ll continue to update it as it goes again
