[Music] so we had some Montreal Canadians things today from practice interviews and other articles which is why I wanted to make this one holistic view video that just kind of goes over my thoughts about some of these interesting talking points so we’re heading over on to the Canadian sub because goab go 31 has a lot of the Scoops here they posted some of the quotes that we wanted to talk about and I thought were interesting here so let’s go out there and read some of the latest discussion about Canadian stuff starting out with a more lighter quote this is what Lane Hudson said about getting his first NHL goal puck I’ll probably just give it to my parents it’s cool to have but it’s probably safer in my parents’ hands and you know Lane Hudson is only what is he 20 years old kind of checks out right doesn’t it we can just leave it at that we don’t need to expand on that idea anymore but getting into some actual commentary about the Canadians and stuff we have some talk from Nick Suzuki he spoke out about Kirby dock there also was a conversation from slavkovsky let’s go out there and read the captain’s words on Kirby doc season I think that Kirby is slowly getting back to where he was last year I think slowly but surely he is coming along it’s a major injury that he’s coming back from we just got to give him time I think his mindset and positivity has been going a long way for that and I think it becomes a little easy to watch Kirby do play in 2024 2025 and be just overly disappointed with what he shows out there on the ice sure he has looked better in different samples throughout his career and sure even earlier this morning we made the video talking about the idea that the trade the Kirby do trade initially which sent him over to Montreal was a huge mistake was it a nightmare for Kent Hughes because the guy that was sent over to Chicago or the draft pick that was used to select a guy is now doing pretty well you can let me know your thoughts in the comments section below or read the comment section of that prior video but Suzuki’s kind of right here there was a really long injury that definitely takes away from what Doc is able to Showcase right now even the top comment says look I hate the way he’s playing but he is still a player who was very good before that injury and who has high potential I’m sure he’s a lot more frustrated than we are this is not a season where we’ll be making the playoffs so might as well try to get him back on track it’s good for the tank anyway so yeah I think he looks brutal out there but they should continue to give him opportunities this season next season though no more excuses if doc stinks again then it’s time to give other players opportunities he’s playing like crap cookie jar 891 says but it’s not a walk in the park to come back from a total knee reconstruction ruction there is for sure a major mental block that is hindering him from playing completely free and understandably so could he be playing better yes is constantly nitpicking his game actually going to make him better probably not he has shown more signs in the last few games he’s been driving to play with the puck Mo he’s battling a little harder so maybe I think it was appropriate to go out there and provide some sort of a cooler head perspective on Kirby do and the way he has progressed this season because he’s certainly hasn’t been progressing well I would say it’s just you need to give him time and that time is not 20 something games of a season after this knee reconstruction surgery he needs to get a little bit more than that who knows maybe by the end of the season Doc is looking like a complete other animal we’ve seen this happen before right like ovsky had a crazy second half of the year a little bit ago who’s to say that’s impossible with Kirby doc speaking about that same your of kosy we had ourselves some commentary from him too he spoke out about his struggles earlier this morning as well that’s what I’m trying to figure out SLO said I wish it was like it was I wish everything was clicking like it was last year but for some reason it’s not I feel like I’m doing everything the same it’s just not going how I want but hopefully I get there soon now I will say this quote is very isolated it’s very depressing when you look at this comment by itself in isolation but you know slavkovsky is slavkovsky and we all recognize that he has a lot of confidence in himself it’s very apparent in all the interviews so a comment like this could be seen as a little bit out of character for URI it’s true though he has been playing very disappointingly the past little while and if there’s anybody who’s going to be the most disappointed in him in his game it’s got to be him himself so even though slavkovsky had these depressing comments a lot of the replies in the comment section underneath are very supportive and understanding as to what’s going on here keep grinding big guy he definitely looked better last game when playing on the first line I’m sure it won’t take him long to get back into Rhythm SLO just needs some good old Puck luck to go his way for real some garbage goals and lucky bounces can shake the crap off of him and turn stuff around I love this kid I know he’ll sort it out he needs to skate and win his board battles however there were some other comments that were a little bit more critical on this saying hey like slavkovsky could be down in the dumps he could be a little bit depressed about the way he’s talking about his season but he’s just overthinking it he needs to go back to basic play mean and simple hockey you don’t need to be fancy just give your 110% and trust your gut Josh Anderson style BC Grappler says another reply goes out there and says what he’s doing wrong is a lot of games he’s not moving his feet it’s not rocket science he’s a big body but he has to learn to be harder to play against more Mobility more speed on the the forche and faster decisionmaking this he’s always just so passive when he gets the puck he slows down trying to find someone to dump it to instead of skating and trying to create plays himself the big contract probably has him thinking he needs to do something more or different he just has to remember to do what got him here and so with sovi it seems a lot of this has to be mental like I don’t think anybody’s going to look at this and say that he’s not talented anymore it’s always going to be there the guys own 20 years old so obviously there’s a lot of time for sovi over the course of this contract to settle back into what made him such an effective player in the first place but ultimately these are some pretty depressing comments and I wonder where exactly this is going to go mentally speaking for URI considering he has always been very confident in his own assessment of his game the past few years he’s been a munra Canadian now finally to end off this video I wanted to go over to another post this was on the athletic Canadian weekly notebook Alex new Hook’s future Kirby Do’s untimely penalties the reason we are using the post made on the arhab subredit is because this is an athletic article it’s behind a pay wall we can’t go out there and screenshot the article directly but I wanted to talk about Alex new hook a little bit because there was a really interesting reply from this article that was posted in the comment section of this Reddit post there’s a really good line in this piece when with the Colorado Avalanche Alex new hook could not crack the top six and he didn’t have much time on the power power play there new Hook is a good player but he cannot crack the top two lines on a cup contending Team new hook has a good game and he has good hockey sense if he continues to play well he could be enticing trade rate at the deadline for a team looking to add we don’t build around new hook we trade him for additional pieces doc on the other hand yuck he kills the play often he makes bad hockey decisions and he takes brutal penalties injured or not he doesn’t consistently make the right play I demote him and or sit him or send him to l he needs to be better finally Michael ha looks awesome and Lane Hudson is finally getting the respect he deserves I wanted to talk about new hook for a bit because a lot of those ideas are similar thoughts that we had when he was initially drafted by Colorado back in 2019 oh yeah new Hook is going to be a crazy Center to play behind Nathan McKinnon and that was an idea I mean back in The Scouting Report days of Alex new hook in 2019 we said that the way this guy carries himself on the ice if you’re looking for a player in that Jack Hughes Conor McDavid Nathan McKinnon kind of mold Alex new could be that not like ceiling wise he’s not going to get 100 points in the season but the way he plays the game how he lets his speed dictate everything he does how he plays and charges down the ice with the puck he was very talented in that respect but unfortunately it was going to be a conversation of whether or not he’d be able to Dethrone either aasm cadri or any other centers that were there in Colorado Tyson Jo was still developing whether or not he’d be able to make some sort of a long-term impact that remained to be seen as the years went on though Nathan mcdaddy McKinnon of course he stayed at number one nasm Cadre was there for a while and then you had Alex new hook who didn’t really find himself a spot to break through in the top six it was just too crowded there then you had some other guys that were at the center position like JT Comer for example new hook still couldn’t overtake him and then as the Seasons went on Alex new hook found himself out of Colorado and in Montreal so there was never really a chance for him to break free in Colorado and now you’re seeing similar things here where it’s like yeah is he really a top six Talent um maybe not at this point in his career but he’s still young right so I don’t know you
