welcome back to another episode of rock boys football deal late Christmas Eve I could not think of a better Christmas present for myself and a lot of Michigan fans former Alabama running back Justice Haynes committing to Michigan absolute differen maker at the running back position and you look at some Michigan fans on Twitter on the message boards talking about Jordan Marshall talking about Benjamin Hall two running backs that I absolutely love a guy like Marshall I think at one point is going to be an absolute dude for Michigan during his career when it comes to a guy like justice hints these kind of running backs to me do not grow on trees and if you’re Chiron Moore and you have the opportunity to land a running back like justice Haynes you just can’t turn it down and a lot of times we talk about all right how can we create the best offense around Bryce Underwood that first part of that conversation goes to pass catchers on the outside which is a very important conversation another way you can allow a freshman quarterback to have a lot of success early and simplify and make his job a little bit easier give him an elite Run game that justice haes has the ability to give that to Michigan you know if I were to sum up what Justice hannes brings to this Michigan offense it’d be kind of The Best of Both Worlds from a guy like kle mullings and Donovan Edwards you know Justice hand’s a guy that he can give you those ugly tough three yards to keep you on schedule but he’s also a running back that when he gets to the second level and he’s one-on-one with the backer safety he can not only make those Defenders Miss he can hit that home run because that burst at the second level it’s special you look at a guy like Donovan Edwards a really special Burst when he gets to the second level but not always running behind his patge the best and then you look at a guy like Club mullings an absolute bulldozer of a running back can get all the hard yards you want maybe lack the a little bit of that home run ability when he gets to the second level you just kind of put him put those two together I think Justice hands that running back that can give you the best of both worlds I am fired up for this one I’ve been a huge fan of Justice hands ever since he’s been running the football down there in Buford Georgia coming out of high school want to get into what Justice Haynes brings to this Michigan offense talk about a few other targets that have emerged for Michigan as well before we get into it as always to the Michigan fans it it’s been a legendary heater for this program ever since Bryce Underwood committed to Michigan on the recruiting Trail in the transfer portal smacking Ohio State it’s been an alltime heater the boys have had a blast talk hopefully y all are enjoying that and D without further Ado I’ll give you the tbox here Justice Haynes what does he bring to this Michigan program and I think you said it at the end of the day he gives you that every down all down do everything tight back similar to what Blake Korn was and I as much as the quarterback play kind of lacked in a lot of ways this year and it clearly was lacking I don’t think you had that exact running back like what Blake Corin was and again that’s not really a shot at either guy but it’s it’s like you said it like Cloud mullings decent straight line speed really good picking up hard yards but not a wildly exposive back through the hole I think again you look at like his ability make guys miss the phone booth probably not what a Justice haes is and then you got Donovan Edwards who obviously just couldn’t really give you that down to down hard yard running and that’s such a crucial part of what Michigan wants to do it was such a crucial part about how they were able to stay on schedule and keep their quarterbacks in out of bad positions again you talk about over recruiting guys now I’m certainly probably as sensitive that that as anybody like I don’t love when Michigan guys on top of guys like when you get the chance to get a guy like justice Haynes you really can’t say no because it’s just there’s there’s two things to the over recruiting and I I I get it too you know you want to give your guys that you recruit at the high school levels opportunities to play one at the running back spot like Jordan Marshall Ben Hall will be involved in the offense it’s not like just his hands gonna get every single carry secondly and I think most importantly in this situation there is a really good chance that Michigan starting a true freshman quarterback in 2025 Benjamin Hall and Jordan Marshall as talented as I think both of those running backs will be for Michigan they’re not that experienced you know they haven’t played a ton of football in a ton of big moments justi as Haynes has even though he’s going into year three he’s played a lot of football and Ben damn good D you look at I mean Co you go back to high school and this is 7A football down there in the state of Georgia I remember talking about this Comm committing to Alabama and say it’s hard to physically Stand Out down there in the state of Georgia he runs for 770 carries over 7,400 yards he averages 9.4 yards per carry and then he goes to the SEC his first two years he’s averaging six yards per carry this is a guy that when he’s not leaving Alabama because he’s not a good running back he’s leaving Alabama for a little bit more opportunity with a program that’s going to use a little bit more and that’s Michigan and one thing that really does excite me is look it’s no secret that the offensive line early for Michigan was just not as good as we expected it to be and as Michigan fans maybe we were a little too optimistic about it like it was a complete reshuffling of what that offensive line was in 2023 brand new faces the chemistry in gel wasn’t necessarily there you look at giovan Alti coming back Greg krippin coming back Evan link coming back that to me this offensive line played its best football late in the year I think this offensive line is going to get back to we what we expected to be for Michigan in the 2025 year and now you got to do like justice hands running the football that’s what excites me the most and you combine that with Bryce Underwood and his ability to use his legs and be a threat in the Run game look Michigan even when Bryce Underwood’s running this offense it’s still going to be a program that wants to control the line of scrimmage run football Justice hands that kind of back to lead this Michigan rushing attack and again you said it like I think as much as I’m excited about Bryce Underwood too like the identity of Michigan football yeah and why I think they’ve been able to kind of overtake Ohio State and get even when they’re down even in Michigan’s down year still be able to very much compete is that toughness factor and that ability to what you said just be physical and have the mentality to play the way they play and and that’s all kind of emanated from the Run game really getting going whether that was with Hassan H Haskins and then obviously later with Blake corm like that mentality that got built into Michigan somehow shout out Tron Moore I think he had a lot to do with it that’s kind of made the whole difference in this program so yeah I’m excited for Bryce Underwood and I want to see him be able to get his chances to make some things happen but you make no mistake like what you said this team is still gonna be a really physical running yeah and I mean like you talk about physicality but Lily F this is a guy that it sounds like it’s between nebr Alaska and Michigan took a visit to LSU as well it’s a guy that had day two NFL draft draft grades at the right tackle position decides to hit the transfer portal what fascinates me is what this offensive line would look like if you make this addition one he he’s a dog in the Run game very solid in pass protection then you look at the left side I think he comeing and play right because that’s what he’s done his whole career at Washington State yeah at left tackle it’s probably going to be healthy competition between guys like Andrew spr and guys like Evan link if you can land a guy like fil all of a sudden this offensive line kind of stimulating this run game goes in the right direction and D I’m just GNA tee you up here sounds like Michigan’s reached out to your guy former Utah defensive tackle Keanu tanu vosa give Michigan a little bit of taste of what he can give Michigan fans excuse me a little bit of a taste of what he could bring to this Michigan defense lot yeah I think he’s a monster and if you look at the way that Utah defense has played and especially that front seven like I mean he’s one of those guys in that lineage of really good defensive tackles think he’s really athletic I think he does a good job getting into the back field making plays like again I think like deont Payne’s a really good addition for sure but much more of a depth piece I look at if they can land a guy like keano tanasa like that’s a really high impact guy probably has a really good chance to start for Michigan depending on who kind of comes back but he is like more of an impact player I would say than probably what deont Payne is who’s much more again quality depth guy that you certainly need but isn’t going to be on any all big 10 list no likelihood see me and you probably disagree on that like I think deont Payne ceiling might be a little bit higher to me I look at and say Michigan’s trying to get back to what it looked like in 2023 where you’re just rotating a bunch of really good football players now are you gonna find exactly Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant Chris Jenkins no probably not but that fourman rotation between those three and a guy like rayan Benny the ability to keep all your big bodies fresh throughout four quarters that’s really what made Michigan’s defensive line so special in 2023 we didn’t exactly have that we had Mason Graham and kind of the Grant and it didn’t get much better than that but when you got into your twos and threes that that kind of went away a little bit I think Michigan’s trying to build that back up and a guy like Kean you know can come in and do a little bit of that dirty work but like you said a little bit of a good athlete and really can penetrate and create some of those negative plays as well we’ll see how it turns out for Michigan Justice hannes to me absolute Difference Maker at the running back spot the boys right after the
