can’t hold it much longer got to let go so I be [Applause] [Music] free Fraser Friday oh we got the Step Brothers Step Brothers are here I don’t know why I let him in my house anymore I’m I’m you didn’t leave me in I opened your gate the gate was locked my security God Almy it this is I’m I’m making a call hold on there’s so many calls that have to be made what you gonna do what are you gonna do you got to be careful in this world now man gotta have good security that’s right all right so how about this timing how about perfect right before starts this is Scott’s gift this is Scott’s gift it’s a gift and a curse and I blame Eric on this but it’s a good timing Scott loves it I love it so much I’m also really surprised about this one so let’s hit the button he’s charging the we’re charging baby Devin Williams is now a member of the New York Yankees Nester Cortez is now a member of the Milwaukee Brewers and Speedster Caleb Durban is now also a member of the Speedy Milwaukee Brewers there’s the trade passing and then others following with more details including what sounds like a little bit of cash coming from the Yanks and going over to the Brew Crew Devin and Nester are going to make about the same amount of money for their last season before free agency both in the seven to eight million range depending on if they settle or decide to battle it out in arbitration Court wo Todd father the New York Yankees did not land Juan SoDo five seconds later they got Max freed 10 seconds after that they got them sells Devin Williams and they’re playing that run prevention game baby trying to build up the pitching obviously we’ll see what they do on the defensive side of things as well of course you got to replace the bat eventually for stto but what do you think about the quick strikes here by Cashman and crew I think it’s great I do I I love Nester Cortez I do I think he’s a good pitcher um I think they do needed some Bullpen pieces and I think this is people like a this is a start this is a big start this is a big start for the Yanks uh probably if KY you would agree with me the best change up in baseball I I would say possibly ever possibly don’t tell don’t tell Trevor Hoffman but he has one of the filthiest change UPS he’s a guy that comes in and usually dominates the game whatever inning he comes in to finish um you know you think about their starting rotation let’s let’s go can we go over this real quick they’re starting rotation now for the Yankees go ahead we got help me out here NE we got what no Yankees so we got we got Cole we got go second rodon rodon heel heel some connection of Clark Schmidt okay so I would say one more starter would be nice I I think they’re good now I think they’re good but I want them to be great with Devin Williams coming in at the back end too I I’m not mad at this trade at all I’m not mad at all um Caleb is a good player too yet to be seen yet to be played I think that’s a good fit for him in Milwaukee um kind of get out of New York a little there’s some guys that need to you know that belong in New York and some guys that need to get away and I really think he needs you know to find his way with the Brewers I I don’t see this as a bad trade I think the Yankees got a one of the best relievers in baseball and this is still a start they still need to keep going I’ll double down on it okay he is the best reliever in baseball he’s the best closer I don’t care what happened in his last outing of the Year love that when Pistol Pete hit a Dinger off him but they have the Yankees have strowman so you’re talking about a six solid starting pitchers to me they need some more offense but this move is huge you were not to me you’re not you’re not you couldn’t get anybody better if you’re trying to get the best closer the Yankees went out and did it they got the best left-hander available in the free agent Market not available I think crochet could possibly be better than freed cash is doing it the only issue that I see here it’s another one-year rental nothing wrong with one year it’s just how do you lock up and make your Bullpen Good Year in and year out as the Yankees you do what they’ve been doing all oneyear stuff they took a flyer on Luke Weaver look what that’s done they still have alider Jr Mark lier Jr I’m sorry Mark lier not aler Uncle would like that now perfect now this is the like look Jake cousins Tim Hill they were on they were on the white socks last year nasty Jack cousins doing jack and then they helped take them to the I thought cousins should have shown up as the closer when they were having issues but like there’s a there there’s just there’s a mechanism that they’re doing in the bullpen there and then they add this guy to it they add Devin Williams to it huge it’s absolutely huge and he’s cheap he’s very cheap million not9 million in ation give that man his money and extend him I was just going to say that extend him now you know I did talk about starting pitching but it’s their turn to go to the bats now get I know this is all new this is all just coming to everybody this is great we live in a t in a place as you know Eric we live in an area in the United States it’s a what have you done for me lately area and guess what they just got him 10 minutes later what else what have you done for me lately it’s time to go out there and find another bat uh to help out judge to help out Stanton and all these other guys maybe a bat or two good good good pickup for the Yankees and I I believe there’s still more to come Brian H who covers the team for MLB and has been on the show plenty said hearing more Buzz connecting the Yankees to Alex bregman the interest is real you know if you looked at roster projections Durban was a guy that they thought they could plug in to second base he can play Third Base too depending on how they were going to play things out with jazz I’m still very firm on positioning being a problem for the Yankees I want judge in a corner I think we’re going to get that now coming up this year I want Jazz Chisum at second base not Third Base think that we might get that if they land to Alex bregman I have so many layers here I want to start here Katz were you surprised about the return it’s not a bad return I just felt like the Brewers were going to go for some high-end pitching Prospect and maybe they didn’t end up getting that they chose the big league route so you get Nester to plug into the rotation and with the price of starting pitching the Brewers can’t ball like that in free agency and their rotation was a problem this past season you’re like I I’m into a lot of things with the Brewers it’s one of the best bullpens it’s a brand of baseball that could work in the postseason it of course worked in the regular season they dominated the NL Central Division but for me Durban is actually much more of a brewer than a Yankee he’s got some of the weakest exit velocity numbers that is not what the Yankees front office is into so they were they were touting like they liked him but that’s not a Yankee that’s not what the stat nerds behind the scenes are into on the Yankee side and there’s plenty of stat nerds on the Brewer side in their front office but they like the brand that is Bryce terang Joey Ortiz Caleb Durban who’s 5 foot six steals a ton of bags can play everywhere he’s a dirt bag look up the term he is a bag it’s a it’s a endearing term Long Beach but he’s not like let’s let’s not make let’s make sure we’re not putting him in the category of like a Nick Madrigal not to get not to throw shade to Nick Madrigal catching Strays here but that dude had no thump this guy went out to the fall league had five dingers he had 13 dingers this year in Triple A I think it was in Triple A maybe it was all of those levels I get it I get that his I have the stats right here there a whole season he had 13 dingers concerning part he had one Homer against lefties and he’s a right-handed hitter but he does have pop the biggest thing for me and this is why he will fit into the Brewers the Brewers started cutting down strikeouts and I don’t care if you can run if you can’t get on first base you ain’t doing jack he has never once struck out more than he has walked in a season that’s incred in the minor leagues it’s like 11% walk right it’s it’s impressive it is impressive bat to ball skills and he is not just a slug on or he’s not just a speeder that can’t get on he’ll hit some dingers and in Milwaukee oh boy I love that place to hit it’s no Cincinnati it’s no Cincinnati with the with a tiny little you can’t see the yep see now I moved it now Jar’s gonna be pissed but that’s that’s where yeah that’s easy homers there but Milwaukee’s pretty close it’s rude it’s rude anyway like I said before he a guy like this statue is going to fit well with the Brewers and he needed needed a change you know you know one of those guys where you bring up and if he doesn’t do well right from to get go They’re gonna find somebody else so he’s going to get a lot of opportunities with the Brewers and he’s you know they got those guys that just like those lead off eight nine batters getting on base finding ways and steal and this guy this guy can run for days baseball Ballers all right how we feeling about the Brewers rotation a little bit better now so we’ve got Freddy Peralta hopefully Brandon wood dff is back to start the season if not early on in the season Aaron savali who they traded for last year and that’s a perfect Milwaukee Reclamation project um even though he’s obviously been around some really good pitching programs with Tampa Bay and Cleveland he’s a tweaker he keeps tweaking what he’s doing trying to find the right mix Tobias Meyers who was money last year and then Nester can slot in and hey let’s not remember or let’s not forget Nester Cortez did get bounced late in the season briefly into the bullpen then he got hurt soon after that then he comes back they put him in an awful spot and he gives up the Freddy Freeman home run and now he just gets to go in there crats and Pitch every fifth day for Milwaukee and they’re gonna be like please give us give us 200 Innings dude we will happily take as much as you can give us because there are not a lot of reliable guys in that rotation at the moment I mean we love Woodruff but he’s coming back from shoulder surgery Pat Murphy’s manager said they’re going to be careful and going to assume that it’s going to take a little bit of working back in from a major surgery I mean if we would put the list up we can’t the list of starting pitchers Freddy Peralta’s your long guy Freddy Peralta is going to give you seven Innings if Nester can be a six inning guy that’s an upgrade other than that there’s a lot of usage of four and five innings starters can Tobias Myers take the next step yes to me the biggest thing like you said about Nester is giving him the leash Nester can go seven Nester has gone eight this is a recent All-Star he wasn’t an Allstar this past year he’s a recent allar that to me he made 30 30 starts last year should have been 31 because of the whole that piggyback day technically he was ready to start that day so he’s available he is ready to go he also knows that every opportunity is an opportunity for later in his career because when I played with him this dude was bounced around pushed back and forth thought he was going to go to Japan and then he made the big leagues again for like his third or fourth time and he made the All-Star team so he knows free agency coming this man’s hungry in my opinion neeter Cortez is hungry and he is going to be a huge piece I still think they need another Innings eater because Big Woo Brandon Woodruff is not going to give you a ton of innings or he shouldn’t give you a ton of innings coming off the shoulder surgery especially early yeah for sure 100% do you think do you guys think some teams knew something or just weren’t comfortable with the Devon Williams Medicals he missed half of last year at the final issue and the Yankees were like hey this is worth it for the risk I just thought he was going to command a really high level Prospect yeah I did durban’s good high floor low ceiling I thought they were going to try and get someone that they can point to for a long time look at the difference between the Devin Williams trade and the Josh hater trade I’m aware there’s what one more year of control that was in there for hater but they end up flipping him and turning that into what William contras who’s a All-Star catcher they got themselves pamps in the bullpen back then and I think there was one other guy that was later on okay there was the the open Ruiz then eventually they trade him but you know they got themselves into that deal right but anyway my point is the return that they end up getting was more of a long-term return I get it Durban hasn’t cracked the big leagues set so you get him for the long term but I don’t know I thought that other teams would be more competitive for him because this is one of the top few closers in baseball you get him for one season you’re not locked into a long-term deal if you’re a low or mid-market team this is fair game for anyone to try and build a mega Bullpen and here come the Yankees being the most aggressive some you know you got so many I would say fans and owners leading the way complaining about how there’s so much misbalance in baseball anyone could have had Devon Williams this is not the wotto contract conversation so if Devon Williams is shining in the Yankees Bullpen this year you’re not going to be like oh it’s so unfair look what the Yankees did the Yankees have a mid-level prospect tier they just figured out a way to give themselves some starting pitching depth and trade a guy who’s I don’t know where he is in baseball America’s rankings but not high that’s although he he came off a huge huge fall league he did he did awesome out there and that that can that raise some eyebrows he’s a guy that will plug into a team that still wants to win and exactly what you said you might have gloss over it and people didn’t hear it starting pitching depth they were willing to trade from your starting pitching depth the Brewers might not want somebody to sit in double A tripa A that has a chance to make it up to the big leagues they want to compete this year they still have Christian Yelich on A2 200 plus million dollar contract they have Jackson chur you know going to shine in his sophomore year they have a good team so maybe other teams were willing to give the Brewers you know two or three doublea prospects to me this is this is this year this is almost like the Corbin burns like DL Hall Joey Ortiz definitely higher prospects but guys that they’re going to be able to plug in almost immediately and also keep in mind the Brewers lost Willie Adam’s toddfa so now they’re reshuffling the infield and also it’s not the worst problem if they’ve got one extra dude and like you said you got to figure out who shines here because Durban hasn’t played in the big leagues yet Joey Ortiz was first year last year it sounds like he could be the short stop and then Mur said murf said terang stays at second because he’s like the best defensive second baseman in baseball he won the go glove and then Durban can mix and match people get hurt guys get days off platoon exist and Durban can play in the Outfield too yeah and just to wrap it up like you said these guys could play different positions and that’s going to help trying to figure out where they go next if they feel like one guy needs to play this certain spot I’m sure these young cats aren’t afraid Hey listen put me there I just want to play I’m hungry like Katy said I want to have a winning ball Club I’ll play wherever we need to go okay hear you Scott hit that mute John it always happens maybe it’s okay it’s okay if it happens if we can’t hear him then we’ll just hear now I was hoping I could take it to break one time I’m I’m checking out the depth chart right now let’s say Durban you guys got me right I got you yep let’s say durban’s ready to go I mean could you see a world where Durban and Ortiz handle the left side yes I wouldn’t have said that I would have said based on moving I know we got to get to a break but based on seeing terang move I thought he was going to be pushed a short that’s why I asked murf that question and he was like I don’t know I like it maybe there’s something I don’t see in Ortiz you can’t give up defense at Short Stop but remember will OD Damas wasn’t real great at Short last year so there’s there’s some there’s there’s maybe a chance to upgrade there still defensively with one of those guys stepping in yep good call and I’ll just cap it with props of the Yankees going for it man this is one of the best relievers in baseball he’s coming off a sour note giving up that home run to Pete Alonzo but that was an anomaly if he’s healthy you got to trust their Medicals they just made a huge upgrade to that Bullpen all right he’s going he’s going American League too that’s right batters he’s facing too good luck new batters that haven’t seen him as much we’ll talk more about this throughout the day [Music] all right here we are we can take some questions too I also want to just promote everything we’re doing at FT because we don’t do it enough and AJ’s not here so I’ve got to carry the freight for him and say subscribe to the YouTube channel like the video it’s free also if you’re on the go listen to us on Apple or Spotify we’re active on Twitter Instagram Tik Tock Etc and also I’m gonna obviously do what we always do every day and take Q&A action Roman said where’s Tanner Scott going to end up now I think the Yankees could still go after him and just invest a good chunk of cash in a dominant Bullpen and try and do what the Padres did I want to make sure we remember guys that the Padres were one win away from taking the Dodgers out and they could have been the World Series champs what did they do so well they built a super bullpen with stars Cleveland had that but San Diego did it differently they had more established veterans Cleveland had the guys that were homegrown but don’t you see a theme here I mean you’re you’re looking at what they’re bringing out from the Outfield and you’re like damn for Cleveland I mean the Yankees didn’t have that the Dodgers had that with with a mix of what they do so is building a super Bullpen important and Tanner Scott getting it’s probably we going to get what 12 a year for maybe three years three years 36 something like that is that important to the Yanks to get a lefty like that and and most and most pitchers don’t go seven Innings anymore either so these cats that are coming out of the bullpen need to be ready and if you have a plethora of them and you have guys that have been established and are really good that bodess well for that team yep I think Tanner Scott’s getting more like four years he could get a I mean I’m yeah I’d have to look I don’t have my paper where I put my predictions but I don’t think the Yankees to me I think the Yankees hit on it and this might this might get the Phillies in the mix the Phillies have been looking I thought they were going to get Hesley last we heard maybe he’s not as available but I think they need I think they need some kind of closer and I think it puts the Phillies in the mix all right more questions and answers throughout the next few breaks I’m looking I know there’s a ton about Yankees aftermath here with the trade a little bit about the Brewers and what Nester could look like in Milwaukee as he flips over he’s never been in the national league has he no Orioles Orioles Yankees Mariners [Music] Jonathan Papa Bond joining us right now on fou territory Pap we got action man I know there’s not games to bet on but damn dude we’re actually getting some activity Before Christmas not everyone’s going to sign you know April 1 this year which is nice how you doing man yeah I think y’all playing this show out there’s something to it when as soon as this deal goes down with Williams all of a sudden y’all want to talk to me huh hey good timing no we wanted to talk to you about the Red Sox actually finally doing something and Theo deal and all that so now we just have one more deal to add to the table do you want to start with Devin Williams and the Yankees in the arms race with really the Mets in my mind and the rest of baseball versus just the Red Sox it’s the Rivalry is not the same right now but the Yankees you know have the remorse after not getting SoDo and they’re not wasting time man yeah um you know this this is an arms race right now and um to me man the Yankees just want a big one a big one and um you know say what you say it might be a rental but um it’s it’s all about next year and and and what the these ownerships are doing right now between the Yankees and the Red Sox is they’re going tip for Tat so I expect the the Red Sox to to make another move as well um and it has to be for for what my buddy Lou morone calls a pig I call call them Cabos we need a horse and um it’s it’s going to have to be in the pitching Department this year uh in my opinion your top tier pitchers are at a premium so you got to go get them when you can get them all right I mean we we’ll get to your we’ll get to your socks and their Gator arms that they got in their can’t reach their wallet but the Devin Williams thing do you sit there and say he’s the best reliever in baseball or or is Emanuel class gonna keep him from winning now the mariana rivera award because he was winning the Trevor Hoffman award every year he was healthy yeah Katz to me um I I need just a tad bit more um a a little bit more for him for me to say he’s the best in baseball you look at to me it’s class um just because he’s a he was what he was able to do throughout the course of a season it’s you know these back issues that Williams he’s got a back issue so to me that’s a little bit worrisome you know I I I think for me I didn’t have start back issues till I was you know 34 35 years old so I think he’s what 30 so it’s a little bit scary but hey he’s on a one-year deal essentially so um you know the Yankees are going to gamble there and and to me it was a big gamble I know the Red Sox got Chapman and and I know that I do know for a fact that that deal there was a lot of back end and a lot of research and a lot that went behind that deal and they feel very confident in him and um because of what I know I think that um I think he will succeed I think he he will be a good closer for us this year he’s still got top strikeout capability in the Z when he’s throwing in the zone and as you know as a closer if you don’t throw in the zone you blow games so um I think they both have a top end closer and they both needed one and now you look at Luke Weaver even setting up for Williams so that’s a nasty one-w punch right there so the the the Red Sox has got to go respond too with more arms exactly and I agree totally what you said with Chapman and from what he did last year I thought he had an incredible year with the Pirates you know a team that was struggling he showed he could still do it and I and I think he deserves to have another chance that was a good pickup by the Red Sox another good pickup was crochet I I think uh that was a phenomenal pickup I talked about it last week and I explained all the Red Sox fans they got to give up four of their prospects to get them and and they’re like oh no way they were beating me up over it now I want to talk about these prospects I want you to explain to me some of these guys that they got rid of and um you know what you thought about the trade okay so here let me tell you something here Todd the Red Sox do have a ve or okay so look bloom bloom built up the Red Sox system and they eventually let him go so there are more players you’re just hearing about you know your Kyle teals and your braad mcgomery these first round draft picks but there’s a lot of more young kids in here and I also look at a kid that just came up and seon rafhael Todd I’m telling you you know how when you mature in this game and you and as a hitter if you could put on if this kid could put on like 10 or 15 more pounds he could possibly win an MVP I ain’t even I ain’t no BS this kid can play I’ve seen him play a lot but to me when you’re making these big trades okay and you’re going to say hey John how much money we will are we willing to spend this year and breslo gets that amount money well Row’s now said okay let me save a little bit of that money and let me go do a deal with crochet so I think the way he did the deal is what is going to propel them to be able to spend more money hopefully a bregman somebody like that if if the Red Sox can pull that a bregman or a Burns or even like an an Aeron I mean I mean somebody like that I think um a right-handed bat for them will do miracles in that lineup so you think you think Brazil is out here saving money you don’t think you don’t think the the tight the tight purse strings of your boss I don’t think he’s saving money because you if you saving it for somewhere else yes it’s like it’s like I I would say he’s not saving money I would say more like he’s couponing is that is that a good analogy for you yeah that’s great that’s great couponing but that’s not bre bro is not trying to coupon bro’s job is to what make the best team possible in the big leagues that’s why they extended Joey Kora we think we still have a window K’s like I want to be there and you sit there and you go you have to get some you talk about getting arms the only arms they need are for John Henry’s to extend and get to his wallet and give this team somebody to couple with Des good question like I and I agree with you on that cat but let me tell you something you’re going back to the Alex cor extending him and and I’m gonna get a little into that but look Alex Cory is like the bill bellich at the NFL I mean he’s one of the best Minds best coaches you can you give him a good player and you he could be great right just like I said San Rafael he’s a good player but Alex Cory can make him even great and that’s what he does to players so you can’t make a bad a very below average Major League Baseball player you can’t make him good you can’t make him you need at least good players so breslo has to go out and get those players and you have to have your pigs or your your studs you know in order to be able to compete with what the Yankees are doing I mean that’s who you compete against day in and day out so if you can’t keep compete with them who you competing with and now you got the Orioles in the mix who are going to be even better this this year too well you know the Orioles ain’t going to spend no money so the Red Sox look like they’re Red Sox look like pap bond to crats as far as spending money so compared to the Orioles but I said Joey cor I meant Alex sorry I always do that it’s I never mix up Jonathan papel Bond but you said in your Tweet you said in your Tweet you need to get rid of Yoshida trade for arado are you okay the middle part of that I’m not going to talk about Yoshida the middle part of that do you trade are you okay because you know what Clubhouse Clubhouse mentality Clubhouse presence means moving Des off the position because nobody’s going to say arado is playing first base stop the dude’s a platinum six time Platinum glove are you okay move Endeavors and what that could mean to his psyche ego um I I think he’s okay with it because I I I’m pretty sure Alex cor has already had this conversation with Des um I don’t think they’d be talking about it if if they didn’t or wouldn’t be rumors about it if they didn’t look I know de’s well deor wants to deor when he first came up in big leagues he got a taste of winning in a championship and he knows what the city of Boston and what they can put together and run a few more he knows that their possibility of running a couple more off are there so he’s gonna do whatever it takes and Alex cor is not gonna put DES in a position that he doesn’t think he can succeed at so if they’ve talked about it which I do think they have um because I’ve I’ve actually seen him catch some balls at first last year just messing around you know but that’s how Alex core is he’s he’s thinking like since he’s years ahead of us so they’re gonna have that conversation crck that’s how that that Alex cor would not just come to him and say oh yeah you’re moving so no they’re gonna have that conversation before a trade like that’s made um but you the Red Sox just like just like my boy Lou was talking about they needed a pig on the on the mound a left-hander crochet should dominate If he if he has what he has in everybody’s seen should dominate in finway park number one and number two if they go out and get a right-handed bat a pig for a right-handed bat then they’re going to compete for a World Series and they’re gonna be able to compete against the Yankees and that’s what they have to do bottom line spot on first of all about debors I’ve known him for a long time he got his money he wants to win they have to move him over to first base the check cash is the same and he wants a ring so I think it’s no big deal at all if they end up getting somebody like an ronado bregman Etc so I’m with you there uh I’m with you on crochet so I had two questions for you one is just to double down on crochet there are a bunch of idiots on social media you know there’s bad eggs but I saw way too many like hundreds of comments right on socials on the athletic comment articles saying uh crochet could be a one or a two for the Red Sox and so many fans like he only did it for a year they shouldn’t give up much for him how wrong are they to double down on what crochet can be as a lefty in that rotation all right so I’m going tell you this um I I saw a very similar picture in the guy named John Lester and what I see in crochet little across the body type guy big time well now it’s called you know I call it a slider Big Time slider or sweeper whatever the hell you want to call it now and can command both sides of the plate if if you could throw the ball down and the away with the command that he has in finway park and then come in with the big sweeper I saw John Lester do it for years and years and years won about 14 15 games year in and year out and just absolutely put the team on his back so to me he can do that now can he do it at finway can he do it in New York you know I know I was listening earlier Ty talking about is this guy can he play in New York now this is the same thing he’s gonna have you know his bar percentage better be big or else he’s going to be a bust and so but I like it I think you know time will tell on that I want to ask you a question Juan soda as you saw you know he signed a big deal with the Mets came out yesterday and um one of the reporters asked him you know how many Yankees guys did you talk to and what did they say and he basically said after the World Series I didn’t talk to anybody now um it’s kind of like one of those things where you hear that conversation you’re like it’s kind of strange that not one person would ever come out you know playerwise and come and talk to him what do you think about that whole situation and you know if that’s true which you got to believe what he’s saying why wouldn’t a player try and get him to come back to the squad especially of his caliber yeah you know uh number one if I’m Aaron judge I I don’t I don’t know how Aaron judge isn’t in the ear with Cashman and whoever he can be of hey what do we got to do to keep this guy look to me yeah you got all plan a and plan B’s going into Dallas everybody had you know all their plans right well let me tell you something it’s just like a Mike Tyson fight when you get punched in the face what are you gonna do back so they went got Max free that was like put a Band-Aid on ju so to me that’s what it was that was a panic move you can say what you want was it a good move H to me it was an okay move it was more of a move to put a Band-Aid on oh damn we just lost SoDo and we shouldn’t have let that happen so but as far as you know your question Todd that that’s really surprising to me because everybody has their own agents now and they’re all buddy buddy and you know there’s you know it’s just there’s so much more money in the game now that I would think that you know at least these players are talking you know they do it in the NBA man you have to recruit man if I when we were playing you how many phone calls did you get about a guy or a coach hey what’s this guy like what’s this guy like is this true about this guy is he you know could he fit in here so I’m I’m super surprised that didn’t happen Todd you think it didn’t you think he didn’t fit you think there’s a there’s a chance he didn’t fit you know um New York is Todd could tell you this better maybe but you know in New York usually there’s only one straw that stirs the drink you know what I’m talking about and it and for there to be two two straws you can ask Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez you can ask Eric Jud why so I don’t know I don’t know I I I’ve never been a part of hey do is this type working I mean you know I play with Manny Ramirez who you teammates we had to get we had to figure it out with him so I don’t know I don’t know it’s it’s puzzling Pat you don’t you don’t drink you don’t drink nothing out of a straw I know that you Dr you drink it straight out of the glass you don’t know nothing about straws hey I drink my whiskey neat baby cheers happy Friday always great having you really good Insight Pat we’ll get you again soon okay okay guys we’ll see y’all soon have a good weekend you too have a great weekend that’s Jonathan Pap Bond we’ll be right back on Ft [Music] all right let’s mix in some rumors okay so this oh Scotty’s favorite sorry I love rumors we’re about to do that what he said no you’re good you’re good yeah because this one’s puzzling to me the Padre’s according to John Heyman are listening to trade offers on Dylan CE Luisa rise and Xander Bogarts and then our Scott Coleman from Hammer territory was like not sure what’s crazier about this the Padre is looking to trade Bogarts two years into an 11year deal or the fact that Bogarts is 32 with nine years left on his contract I’ll put the disclaimer in there again for first off that deal was given out by a late owner who um was in bad health and wanted to try and get a dub and didn’t really care about the money at that point um he’s got plenty of it but also you stretch the years out nobody’s expecting Zander Bogarts to be a superstar at 40 years old the part to me that’s crazy Katz is who’s trading for Bogarts without tons of money being eaten up why would the Padres trade Dylan C he’s not that expensive and why would the Padres trade Lis arise obviously I’m a huge fan of his but I don’t know I’m having a hard time seeing all that I I think PR just likes to take phone calls and and he’s super creative and he wants to make trades but those names all three of those I have a lot of problems with for different reasons PR is not afraid to trade some big prospects if he I mean big names screw prospects he’s he’ll trade every one of them that’s how it should be the only one he kept was almost rookie of the year so to me PR is not afraid to look into stuff and if there’s a mandatory payroll deduction and you can get Xander money off the books how else can you do it maybe you have to put Dylan CE in that and now a team takes Xander’s contract because they want Dylan cease badly because the pitching Market is just getting crushed right now you just if you don’t have money yes you would take on Xander’s contract he can still play he’s going to play for the next six years at an above average level is he Xander Bogart’s worth the contract no that’s another discussion but if you get Dylan SE thrown in there I think it’s all be all of a sudden becomes a cheaper price and and Louisa rice I I I don’t see that happening but if I’m if that’s the case if I’m any team I’m like all right let’s talk yeah but not right not right now teams are not taking teams are building the most wins possible in the off season Louisa rise does not look like a huge win player and then he just goes and wins batting titles teams are building on war and I don’t like it this is why he’s been traded and they’re like oh we can get value for him it’s a different type of trade I don’t think he gets traded [Music] foul territory baseball the way it should be covered the inside scoop right after the big trade with ft senior Insider Ken Rosenthal Ken this one’s fascinating Devin Williams goes to the Yankees they get a big leager and really two big Leaguers back as Durban seems like he’s ready what do you think about it well it’s interesting to me the Yankees were talking of Durban as their potential opening day second baseman now he is a smaller guy of course I like him for that reason he’s 5 foot six but he does a lot of things plays a lot of positions set the Arizona fall league record for stolen bases he’s an intriguing guy and it’s going to be curious to me to see how they line up their infield now do they go with Duran at second play Bryce terang at short and then Joey Ortiz at third they love terang at second because he is such an above average Defender there so good there but he could play shortstop as well and I’m sure be really good at that spot in addition to being a great second baseman so that is part of the Intrigue here for me and of course the Brewers are looking for starting pitching any way they can get it remember they traded for saali at the deadline last year they’re not going to spend on free agents we know that that’s just not what they do so this trade for them yeah they’re giving up one of the best closes in the game but it’s one year of one of the best closes in the game and they’re getting a starting pitcher for one year and Nester Cortez Jr back so you wrote the article how do the Yankees wash away their Juan stto Blues well I think the first step is getting Devin Williams I know you wrote Kyle Tucker’s a big one which I agree I think it just worked out perfect you coming on the show and I just had to say well the start for Devin Williams but what’s next for the Yankees weal I talked about it earlier that what have you done for me lately is it a Kyle Tucker in mine or do they go back to another pitcher in Burns like what do you think is next I heard bregman might be on the Block so do you have any inkling or what do you think next for the Yanks this would make Tucker difficult I would think because the Astros want Luis heel I don’t know that the Yankees can put together a package for Tucker without Luis heel the the Chicago Cubs certainly are in the mix for Tucker as well and they are continuing to negotiate with them the Yankees consider heel too high a price and they just subtracted Nester Cortez Jr from their rotation they now have six starters that’s still really good but it’s not seven as far as depth is concerned so I don’t know that Tucker is as realistic as it was when I wrote that column last night now as for the future what else they’re going to do they badly need a left-handed hitter and Cody Bellinger is the obvious guy out there outside of Tucker so at some point I would not be surprised to see them add Cody Bellinger now where do you put him you could put him in center field you could put him at first base then do you not sign Christian Walker do you maybe focus on someone like bregman who swing and you guys know this is better suited for minute made park or Fenway Park than it is for Yankee Stadium where left field is a little bit bigger so I don’t know that bregman will be the choice I don’t know if they go get another outfielder it’s interesting to me that after losing stto their first two moves were for pitching Max Fred and Devin Williams now maybe that’s just the way it lined up and the Order of events doesn’t really matter and I don’t know that it does but they’re obviously going to need to find offense at some point and it seems to me that Bellinger increasingly becomes a possibility for them simply because of the lack of left-handed hitting out there Anthony santand is a free agent he’s a switch hitter maybe but I just don’t know because Caleb Durban could have slotted in a second base a need that the Yankees have does this at some point they have to sit there and go well one of our one of our position player pieces from the minor leagues has to play does this just open the door even more for Jason Dominguez in saying that he is ultimately going to be the starting center fielder because we can push judge to right Jason Dominguez has always been part of the equation in my estimation now they haven’t guaranteed him a spot Eric because you know how it is you’re not going to guarantee a young player a spot you’re gonna say he has to earn it in Spring which basically means he doesn’t lose the spot unless he falls on his face if they had a sign SoDo then Caleb dervan to me becomes more part of the equation because they would have needed to balance payroll in more areas they’re obviously not going to spend as much as they were going to spend on stto in this collection of players that they’re Gathering right now so maybe they’re less inclined to push a minor leager like a Durban and they felt like okay we’ll plug that some other way but we don’t have to balance the payroll in the same way I’m speculating here but it seems to me that Durban was more part of the equation if stto returned to the Yankees that was going to be what I was insinuating I’m glad you said it we think on the same wavelength do you think on the same wavelength as Corbin Burns because the last time you were on you said possibly it could it could happen is there still is there still talk that it is pretty imminent that he will sign somewhere oh I don’t know that it’s imminent but it’s very interesting I’ll say that and I don’t see Boston stepping out long term for a starting pitcher they didn’t obviously push as hard as they needed to for freed and left-hander is what they needed that’s why they traded for crochet could they use another starter absolutely they could use another starter but remember John Henry the owner was burned by David Price burned by Chris S in their minds anyway and I just don’t know that he’s going to go long term with a Corbin Burns for 240 50 million whatever it’s going to be so if you take Boston out of it thinking they’re not going to spend if you don’t think Baltimore is going to spend to resign their own guy even under new ownership because that’s just too much for a market of their size again I’m just thinking along here well then where does he go Toronto I don’t know that Corbin Burns wants to go to Toronto I don’t know so it seems to me that San Francisco is The Logical landing spot he is a guy who has a home in Arizona he went to St Mary’s in the Bay Area he’s from Bakersfield California people in the industry believe he wants to go out west well if he wants to do that really the Giants are the only team that’s going to spend for him unless the Angels do something crazy so I see this ultimately leading to San Francisco how long it takes I don’t know and we’re sticking with New York right now I mean it just seems like they’re doing most of the trades and Pickups here how about a guy like Pete Alonzo have you heard anything lately about him where his next stop might be or has there anything been heating up with him because you know he’s he’s a guy he’s a big guy too that can help out a lot of lineups Todd it’s interesting the Mets again yesterday said we want Peter Lonzo back they’re gonna say that until he is gone and I’m not saying he will be gone but there’s nothing else they can say they’re not going to say nah we’re not in on Pete Alonzo first of all it would be a violation of the collective bargaining agreement you can’t say you’re out on a free agent and second of all he is their guy and he’s a guy who’s been good for the organization they know that and the question now is can the Mets and Alonzo reach a financial agreement that both sides find suitable I’m not sure they can I’m not sure that the Mets Value Pet Alonzo the same way pet Alonzo and Scott Boris Value Pet Alonzo so then you ask where does he go I don’t see it being the Yankees because the Yankees are trying to get better defensively and Alonzo while he works very hard in his defense is at best an average Defender I’m not sure where the end game is here and many feel that it’s going to be the Mets ultimately on a deal that maybe is less than Alonzo is anticipating it’s really hard to say there are other teams Todd you’re right that could use him I just don’t know if that they’re going to spend for him what were your initial reactions when you heard Juan sto say that not he did not talk to any of his Yankee teammates and if you were at that press conference what would have been a follow-up question to that my follow-up question would have been were you asking guys not to contact you were you not wanting to talk to other players and it seems to me that this wasn’t the Yankees blowing off Juan stto or even Juan stto blowing off the Yankees when judge said he wanted to leave stto alone because he prefers with free agents just to let them be and let them work their way through the process I totally understood that I know fans got upset and said oh my gosh why isn’t he lobbying but the players are going to do what the players do and they know judge having been through it himself that in many ways it’s better to be left alone and work with your agent and just do it that way Soto knew how the Yankees felt about him they loved him and it didn’t seem to me to require any great lobbying from the Yankees to make sure that he was aware that he was loved they knew he knew that they knew that and I thought that there should have been a follow-up question I wasn’t at the press conference I didn’t hear if there was one or not but it seemed to me that was an answer that caused more trouble than it actually meant in reality yeah I’d love to hear more on that story um I want to hop back to Kyle Tucker Ken so you know two-parter here with the Yankees and with the Cubs the problem I have with the Cubs side is they’re going to give up something big but they’ve shown some cheapness are they going to entertain a conversation with him about extension talks if they bring him on or they just getting a one-year rental as a team that to me doesn’t look like a World Series Contender on the Yankee side I’m like some people think Kyle Tucker is almost as good as Juan stto I think Luise heel is worth it I do too and granted if you trade Louis heel now you’re risking thinning out your rotation because you’ve traded Cortez but luiso is a guy with command issues he’s really good no question he might be the best arm the Yankees have pure arm pure stuff but not a sure thing and pitchers uh they do get hurt as we know so Kyle Tucker for one year might be a risk just as Juan stto for one year was a risk but in my view the Yankees as I said need that left-handed presence they don’t have that and Tucker would give them that he’d give them Gold Glove quality defense he’s a superior base runner he is a really good all-around player and that is the kind of player they should be trying to add after of course the way they played in 2024 so the Cubs they’re interesting to skot but I see him or I see them being a logical destination for Tucker too as far as the one-year scenario is concerned they need to do something Jed Hoyer is nearing the end of his deal and they need to show Improvement Craig Council was pretty vocal at the end of the season saying hey we’ve got work to do to get to 90 wins so would he sign there long term would they sign him long term that remains to be seen I would expect that if Kyle Tucker went to the Cubs that he still would want to play it out see how comfortable he is in the city and then enter the open market and see if he can get 400 million 500 million and maybe it’s from the Cubs or the Yankees whoever but when you’re this close to free agency players generally want to test that market and as we’ve seen this Market erupt if I were a player in that position right now I’d wait and just let it play out all right let’s finish with the super qu Super Chat question followup from Owen in the YouTube chat asking about the Phillies as a possible destination for Kyle Tucker can you see them doing that and if not I think Philly fans are getting a little bit restless and I didn’t realize again we’re crowdsourcing here how disappointed Philly fans were with the roster that they have from last year like I don’t want the same tired crap heading into next year it’s amazing how quickly things change but I’ve seen a lot of those types of comments so curious your thoughts as to what could be next well first of all getting back to the Cubs for a second Scott I wrote today in that column about Tucker and the Yankees that if the Cubs were acting like a big Market team Not only would they trade for Tucker they’d sign bregman now how would that look that would look pretty good as for the Phillies the fan reaction is exactly as you described and Dave debrowski the president of baseball operations has essentially said the same thing we kind of need to change it up we need a new mix they would be a team that would be logical for Tucker yes I don’t know that well they could put it together a package that would satisfy Houston but I don’t know exactly what it would be and the other thing with Tucker guys I’m going to say this until he’s traded I’m not convinced the owner Jim Crane wants to do this now he has given the front office’s blessing to go ahead but in the end is he going to be willing to take a step back possibly losing bregman and Tucker from his team when he has said our window is open every year we’re competing every year so obvious obviously there are good reasons to trade Tucker you don’t want another guy walking out the door and getting nothing in return for him it happened with Springer kareah Cole it might happen now with bregman now understandably in each of those cases they’ve been so competitive and you wanted to keep those guys until the end but they’re in a different place now so that’s my question to start this whole thing will Jim Crane say yes and then if you’re the Phillies sure you would definitely want in on this I just don’t know necessarily how they would make it work if they go that route if Jim Crane does agree to it and Tucker gets traded are there other pieces because we heard Rumblings about about possibly Presley going Ryan Presley getting you know getting dealt I think he’s owed $14 million would there be other pieces framber is a free agent to like really kind of break it down to like take a re step back for this year to go for next year they could do that Eric Presley’s been out there so that’s a guy that they’re willing to trade no question about it fber like you said is in the same position as Tucker free agent after this season and if you could do really well for Tucker and for fber and for Presley for that matter that’s not such a bad thing you’re still going forward with Altuve and Alvarez and some of your other pitching and you’re in a division that really doesn’t necessarily have to be a dominant team or isn’t a dominant team Texas is good they’re going to be good again but if I were the Astros I’d at least be exploring every Avenue along these lines now maybe it doesn’t line up the way you want and maybe you feel you know what we’re not getting offered enough in return to justify that step back that you’re talking about but at the same time Forward Thinking teams kind of get ahead of it and my complaint with the blue jays for what month now has been that they didn’t get ahead of it right they have Vladimir Guerrero Jr they have bobette entering their walk GE they have a weak farm system and they did nothing they’re trying to win this year which I commend but then what happens when those guys leave the Astros are kind of in the similar spot because their farm system is weak and you know what maybe it’s the time to do this we’ll see yeah I like that because if you’re Houston they lost some picks from the sign stealing Scandal also they’re always good so that puts you in a tougher spot to try and get high draft picks it’s not going to happen when you’re that good so yeah very interesting and the other thing Scott let me make one more Point mhm I’m talking about prospects right coming back and strengthening the form system but that’s not the way the Astros are necessarily leaning if you’re asking for Lis Hill if you’re talking about isak Paredes with the Cubs you’re potentially just forming a different kind of team that would be very competitive in 2025 and maybe getting some young Talent as well so maybe they can have it both ways which would probably be ideal yeah parades as the replacement for bregman is underrated I know he wasn’t great when he went over to Chicago but he is the Premiere all he does is pull balls and there’s something called the Crawford boxes that would be his best best friend so I’m rooting for that little match to happen just to see you know the Home Run Derby he tries to put on in Houston so Ken uh great work this week obviously have a great weekend rest up we’ll talk to you next week thanks guys thank youall host of fair territory fresh Edition on Monday we might see some moves this weekend it does sound like the market is still piping hot and teams and really players are trying to get stuff done before the holidays be right back for the YouTube crowd we’ll keep the Kyle Tucker conversation going for the TV crowd we’ll do that what he said [Music] next all right let’s continue that combo for two minutes John haymon’s tweet about the Astros and the Cubs as a potential fit so first yeah he was talking about what kind of was alluding to heel in a package for Kyle Tucker and he said the discussion with the Cubs involves SE Suzuki and ESO prus I’m like wait SE Suzuki and esak parus going over to Houston that’s that’s pretty good I love SE Suzuki’s bat I think like I said paradus in Houston would be awesome they said in addition to seah and predes the Astros would like the Cubs to include one of their two most recent number one draft choices either cam Smith or Matt Shaw I’m I don’t know as much about Smith I know a lot about Matt Shaw I think he’s going to be a really good high floor Big League ball player as well so you’re getting guys like that in a package back W I think Houston could be even better next year if you get those three players that is a really adequate replacement that is a great replacement seya if if you look into seiya’s numbers he blew away Cody Bellinger and Cody Bellinger’s out there being available with his 750 his 750 Ops last year I mean SE seya almost had 100 points higher in his Ops he was 130 something Ops plus I don’t have everything in front of me right now but I’ve got enough memorized I mean he was a really effective yeah he’s also a little pissed as his agent said Todd he wanted to be an outfielder and the Cubs are starting to take that away a little bit I think and In fairness to the Cubs SE Suzuki has not been a good defensive outfielder so there’s two sides to the story here but still anyway I can see him get moved yeah and I think sometimes when you are trying to get rid of somebody you try and get a little too much and then you meet at the middle exactly where you want just like when you bargain with people with free agents you know as the businessmen talk you know the GMS and the presidents they’re going to go a little too low you’re going to go a little too high and hopefully you can me in the middle why not throw in a first rounder there too as well and if they say no actually we’ll give you you know our number two or three Prospect oh okay cool let’s do that you know so um you might see some crazy trades going on and I and I agree with both of you on this Suzuki and and Paredes I mean two really good bats you know change of scenery again can help both of them or not but you know from if I’m picking Cody Bellinger or Kyle Tucker in my opinion I I’m I’m on the board of Kyle Tucker and I I I just think if I’m you know that the Yankees I I would be pressed on him just a little bit more oh yeah I don’t even think they’re in the same Stratosphere as long as sucker feeling good coming off of last year no they’re not in the same Stratosphere yeah but different cases also Bell’s [Music] expensive yeah that’s what he said that’s what he said that’s what he said that’s what he said right so just so everyone is aware of the origin of this segment that’s what he said dives into quotes and then we tell you what is is really being said or how you should take these quotes Okay so let’s start with Alex Kora toddfa you can lead off here so this is the aftermath from SoDo and the sweep Stakes by the way I don’t know if we’ll have time for this but Jim Bowden came out with a report today and said the Dodgers pursuing soda was fake news so I I felt that way the whole time too that was cute to make it like there’s more bits in there like the Dodgers probably tell them Bo like sure tell everyone we’re in we’re not but sure go ahead whatever helps you I don’t care just help us with something else like thanks for the Snell deal do what you got to do raise up the prices for our competitors wait sorry go back to that for a sec cor on stto he said the Yankees are iron judge’s team the Mets are Francisco lindor’s team we tried to sell it to Juan stto that the Red Sox would be his team for many years but we fell short would that play for you Todd father or would you say no I’m good I’m gonna go with the most money and Lindor said it could be my team as long as I come over there I don’t I don’t I don’t mind what he said there I I think but the old saying or not the old saying the old thing that goes here why are you worried about New York teams I I think that would be my question you know you’re always you know it’s the Red Sox and all of a sudden like Hey listen New York has this guy and New York has this guy well you’re comparing teams that you dislike and you’re comparing teams that are your Rivals so um that would be my only you know disagreement with but he’s not wrong and I think that kind of pitch you know sometimes work with some people sometimes it doesn’t um and here as you see it it didn’t work they did fall short but I don’t I don’t disagree with what he’s saying I I think that’s kind of you know the link that they had with that you know you could be you know our guy for you know for a long time and it’s your team you know and him you know if I’m Des I’m like hey what about me a little bit I mean that’s his that’s his Dominican Brethren when I would go to when I would go to new organization and people like try to talk smack about other organizations or like say things like like it’s not a good it’s like getting it’s like getting fired or leaving a job and then talking smack about where you just were like if I’m Juan stto and I look over I’m like wait a minute de’s my Dominican homie here like how yeah what’s up like how am I the guy I haven’t even been here and he’s been the guy like are you going to talk the same way about me I don’t know I don’t know I I don’t I don’t know that it’s the right way to go about it in the sense that like you’re selling now it’s out there now it’s out there I mean good for cor because Pap just said hey he has great communication with his players so maybe deor said yeah tell them whatever it takes to get over here I’m here for I’m here till 2033 so let’s get some boys in MH let’s roll out some more from this whole situation we asked some of our guests about this earlier but fellow ft faman member cam Maan had some strong words about the communication lines between the Yankees and Juan stto so I’ll read the tweet from cam he said we should all Turn the Page this says it all no contact or conversation since the World Series with any of his former teammates you needed to go there’s no stat for chemistry he said plus I’ve said it before the whole vibe going on with the Mets this season fits his Vibe completely I think on top of money Juan’s Vibe seems to me like he wants to be around he named like half the team City Field is about to be like what is he referring to there Dykeman Dykeman I Ian I that’s I I didn’t get that one either I I don’t know maybe it let me Google search that John that’s the only thing I agree with him I agree with him that it’s a VI a chemist you gotta have chemistry wherever you’re going and you see and like like Juan said he did his homework you know the met I there he this is what Juan said basically he said listen the future I’m looking for the future well the future he’s got a lot of guys that he knows on this team too as well he could bring them together and come and be one I mean him and Lindor I mean it’s going to be if you’re a Mets fan you got to be excited about those two playing together and you know working their way there’s going to be a lot of energy there’s G to be a lot of magic happening there that OMG oh my God yes that’s what happened so dakman d is a Long Street in Manhattan’s Inwood Inwood neighborhood that runs from Hudson River to the Harlem River maybe it’s a large Dominican population I don’t know I don’t know I I think I think ultimate I mean I am totally spitballing here not trying to offend anybody if I co totally have no idea what cam meant by that but let’s be honest Juan SoDo went for the money why why can’t why can’t we just say that like EXA going to make a short show for us he went for the money and I think if Cashman went to 770 Cohen improved he’d go to 775 and then he’ go to 780 so it’s the money I don’t think Yan’s fans should be upset I think Met’s fans should be super Juiced about this but I I also think it’s a little alarming that he didn’t talk to anybody from the Yankees especially a player or anything like even even on Soto’s part even a check in hey dog calling judge what’s going on man just checking in man I I’m still interested about coming back this is this is this is awesome you know I don’t know what I’m doing yet but you know there it just seemed like there the way he came out and said it there was no interest on his part to go out of his way as well which you didn’t have to he didn’t have to Aaron didn’t have to go out of his way and you know some other guys you know so it’s like it’s a little disheartening on both ends yeah maybe a little bit like where where was the the push like all right well let me just you know if I’m judge let me just check in on him just to see where he’s at I don’t know maybe I’m looking too much into it I I oh wait it gets better it gets better I swear we’re talking about this and there was just a fresh tweet from our buddy babo USA today’s Bob nigh Andel maybe he’s watching he goes the reason there was no communication between Juan stto and his former Yankees teammates simply is that SoDo changed his cell phone number he was bombarded by outside calls during his free agency and wanted privacy Soto now is reaching out to former Yankees teammates wait wait wait wait wait but wait wait a second yeah go ahead you go first Scott yeah because I want to hear what Scott has to say about this he’s on it what would you I I get it we try to talk to certain guys and they can be tough and then you find out they change their number but also if you’re Aaron judge and you want to get in touch with Juan SoDo you can get in touch with Juan SoDo if he reached out and stto didn’t reply or he spoke to Boris and Boris said he doesn’t want to talk to you right now that’s one thing but Aaron judge can reach out to his rep his rep can reach out to Boris and say hey Aaron hasn’t been able to reach Juan he wants to reach him or they can talk to the Yankees about it because guess who had Juan SoDo information the freaking Yankees the Mets everybody else okay s Ando too Brandon had his numbero got the new number Todd father finding found the freaking number and judge can’t find it yeah I I usually usually when you you get a new number too you you give a text out to your cronies and and be like hey man just so you know I got a new number kind of deal but I don’t know maybe that’s the old way of doing things um nimo’s a Boris client we know you know I I don’t know if people knew that as well so that’s an easy way Garrick Cole’s a Bar’s client so um we don’t know maybe there’s more stuff that comes out of it maybe we’re looking too much into it the deal’s done so no matter what it’s over with but you know if I’m if I’m a teammate I’d be like hey dog just checking in seeing how you’re doing I wouldn’t even talk about the you know you know where you’re going I would first start off like CRA if I knew you were that big dog but hey just checking in man how how’s your Thanksgiving [ __ ] you know [ __ ] with you a little bit and explained to you uh you know the family good everything you know that small talk and like hey just curious where were you going you coming back we try to do this again you you want to come and train with me a little bit yeah I’ll fly you out here let’s go yeah you fly out yourself you’re about to get don’t worry I got my own plane uh I I don’t know when it’s first came out I was like eyes big like I’m talking to dudes all the time in the off season I mean I live in offseason now like we don’t play anymore so I’m trying to text with dud listening to Ken what he said the Yankees knew how he felt how they felt about him I just have a I just have a tough time not reaching out but also hey you know what hey I didn’t I didn’t get to talk to him change his number maybe maybe it didn’t go any farther than that I I get it if I text somebody in the offseason they don’t text me for a week I’m not going to be like Yo dude come on hit me back up like hey maybe you want some space maybe you didn’t maybe I’m not that important on your list but when you change your number a person that hasn’t changed his number since I got it 8675309 if anybody wants to call it is a thing where you’re doing it because you want to only talk to the people that you want to talk to so who did you give the number out to gotcha it’s a tough one for me it’s a tough one I mean I guess certain guys just don’t have the clout that they can’t figure out a phone number you got to come out I mean there there there’s beef guys there was something here either they didn’t want to try to reach out to him or or they did and they were shunned and that’s okay if he did say literally I don’t want a peep from anyone I just need the time alone we’ve talked I want my agent to do the process so he can get as much money that’s cool that’s probably the case but if it’s not I’m like you didn’t try to talk your teammate into staying and saying hey dude the money’s going to be close enough love you to death things are going to change here you’re going to win five titles you’re going to get the endorsement deals I have a problem with this because most likely Todd father were being lied to I mean we’re definitely being lied to to an extent and it’s just not necessary I know this is the petty stuff but Sports is a big freaking reality show that we like to follow to to button this up you know who your real friends are when they get a new phone you don’t get the number you’re like that hurts bro man I’m telling you that hurts I I I’m just just trying to think of these situations so you get a new number you get that text hey man this is hey this is Eric Katz just got a new number you know plug this in and then you know a month or two down you’re bro have you heard from Eric Katz oh yeah hit me up he got a new number oh when like two a couple months ago you’re like it hurts it hurts there’s no way I mean I got some dudes in my phone I got some buddies in my phone that like their names in there like four or five times keep always getting new numbers you always you always hit the wrong number back damn it he didn’t get back to me shoot up bro yeah I pity the people that get all good all good that’s this is a fun that was a fun fun segment there exactly that’s where we get the goods from you guys you guys have done this stuff you’re talking to your teammates when you guys are playing all the time youve got the group chats you’ve still got them going on I know you guys are talking to your old boys all the time so I just wanted to make sure we cleared this up a little bit so people understood that it’s not like oh Shu changed his number can’t get it oh well honey tried to call SoDo today you know judge sit at the dinner table couldn’t get his number judge judge was pining for strowman to come to the team I know he said before he hit him up hey we want to get strowman you hear Bryce Harper was pining for his boy Nick cosos guys do it this isn’t all on Judge either no it’s aam it’s a full team it’s not all on judge judge is the captain and he either tried to reach him or he didn’t it’s his team he either tried to reach him or he didn’t I don’t blame him though it’s not his fault he didn’t come back of course it’s not his fault no no no no I’m not talking about that I’m just saying I thought the way you were saying it’s judge’s team he’s the captain he’s got to do every little part no but if there’s a player that’s reaching out saying we need you here it’s it should be Aaron first agreed you you would hope so yes if they’re Bo L Lindor did it and then nmo did it so anyway he went to the most money chapter closed CL be right back cuz we could be close to a trade we’ll go over [Music] it hey we’re here we’re going to go over the Cubs Astros news that’s in the works but give us two minutes and in the meantime we’ll go through some questions so Casey said soda was there for a year sounds like you didn’t mesh with the San Diego locker room either that’s a good point maybe maybe or maybe the people didn’t M with him rum yeah all rumors maybe he it’s not always want like just because somebody gets traded or maybe there’s like o some dysfunction it’s not always the same person like Superstars Superstars are different than Todd who’s different from me like everybody hand situations differently doesn’t mean Soto’s Soto’s a bad guy I’ve never heard anybody say oh yeah he was the problem has there been problems on the teams that he’s been on yes there’s were problems on teams I was on I hope nobody thinks I’m a turd even though I switch teams 14 different organizations um going back to yes I just raised my hand because he’s would you like to nominate him for a turd okay I do know one person one person thinks I’m a turd that I played with come on I won’t say his name why not because I gonna throw it out there yeah most people probably don’t know probably don’t know um one more while we have a minute going back to top of the show which if you’re joining us now and you wanted to hear about the Devin Williams to the Yankees and Nester and Durban back to the Brewers deal we’ve got plenty for you there we also asked Ken about it we asked papon about it so you can backtrack but also just said alltime fleece for the Yankees they dump Nester and trade a number 20 Prospect for years of cheap Devin Williams I’ll also add Nel reported four and a half million bucks going from the Yankees to the Brewers which helps make Nester cost what a few million bucks next year that’s what they like they like a little extra fleece I don’t know about fleece they did get the best closer but look what happened the last starting pitcher that the Yankees got rid of you can see him pretty high up there on some Sai Young votes and Michael King I’m just saying you give a guy you let a guy spread his wings in another organization you kind of you always need starting pitching depth that’s all I can say also Jordan Montgomery was traded and he was a stud for a couple years and crashed down last year but remember when they first traded him away they were like yeah and what did cash say he wouldn’t be part of the playoff rotation what he said yeah he wasn’t he wasn’t one of their top four he looked pretty good for the Rangers when they won a World Series similar [Music] situation Hot Corner sizzling with rumors and this could change you know when we get towards the end of the show we might have the real news but we’ve at least got the rumors flying right now John Haymon is all over the Astros Cubs conversations Kyle Tucker deal two Cubs getting close he said Tucker and then on the other side isach parus and cam Smith is in the word works as mentioned close this is crazy I mean what a week ago we were like are the as is going to bring back Alex bregman to pair with the rest of the dudes and there was nothing about Tucker being traded because the Astros never hinted that way clearly there was a meeting that went down in the last week and they’re like let’s do this we’re not going to be able to resign them anymore we’ve gotten this close look what stto cost Tucker’s one of the top 10 players in the sport we’re not going to give him a 10 12 year contract whatever it’s going to take the Astros don’t operate like that so he’s not an astro for life you might not even be in an astro for Friday December 13th exactly I mean you think that’s a inquest no I’m saying do you think it’s a pivot like you see what soda’s Market went to and you’re like we got to we got to move them like Scotty do you think it is do you I mean it correlates the timing correlates like whoa 700 I get it Tucker’s not going to get 700 but is he going to get more than Mike Trout well we’re willing to pay that so he might as well get something for it what the year for me too Todd the Astros don’t go above what sixish I mean Kyle Tucker’s getting a lot of years Kyle what is he he’s gonna be 28 in free agency I mean he’s gonna get probably 10 years maybe a little less and again the years get crazy because you stretch out the average annual value but the Astros don’t want to do that so there’s a big difference between six and 10 and even if you’re like ah he only ends up with eight or nine still nowhere Jim Crane’s gone the Yankees have their we’re not giving you free sweet policy the Astros have there we’re not giving you eight years policy everyone’s got their policies that they stick to no matter what my thing is here is this an inkling of the third basem for the Astros as they move forward is that mean that bregman’s in the works here of going somewhere else like is is this just a backup plan or like what there there’s always something behind something in my opinion so they get they get Paredes where are they going to play them if they have bregman you know what I mean yeah well Paredes is third but he can play first so it’s an okay problem if you end up playing him at at first I mean he can definitely play first base as well if bregman comes back um and the Astros in my mind do need a big Le proven Spaceman but but Todd I’m with you I think if they’re getting pares you should play them a third bregman’s gone and are they out on bre yeah exactly yeah this might be an an going to that that’s all I mean the Cubs are they slotting Tucker in and pushing belly out then is it baby it’s an up I mean it’s an upgrade as far as playerwise clearly it’s not even close but it’s also money like you’re paying you’re paying Nicholls on Tucker compared to Bellinger I feel so good when I say Nicholls in New Jersey nickels a couple nickels hey so hey there’s there’s some there’s some stuff happening what a what a good Friday so far scooties I like this I like it I I love it we’re scooting guys are scooting wait let me let me make it even more fiery because again obviously we’re here we’re following this until 3 o’clock Eastern time if a deal happens but let’s say the Astros get parades bragman’s gone he’s going somewhere else okay and so he goes to third they still feel like they want something else to fill the void they still could um send out a phone call if they can get his number to to Scott Boris and say hey is Pete Alonzo available Pete Alonzo I was gonna say it too yeah if they can get his number they should call that is tough he changed it he changed it I’m just gonna ignore your calls I’m not going to change them I’m sick I’m sick of getting calls from you well you’re not going to the restaurant I just I’m about to call too I mean I’m I’ll answer I’ll answer Hey listen there’s a lot more magic to come and this is just one little chest piece that’s being moved so there’s always something else behind it so be ready be prepared be ready this weekend could be um could be interesting I’m hoping we get it in the next 30 minutes but joining us next will be rossing but before we get to that we do have an announcement for the Ft fam new shows are happening and here’s the newest show it is called Crush City territory excited to announce the launch of the Pod the top Insider dog in the Houston area beat reporter for the Astros for the athletic Chandler Rome taken over with his host his co-host Tyler Stafford and there might be an announcement for a third edition could be a former player joining the fold with Chandler and Tyler so if you’re looking for your Astros content Chandler Rome obviously breaks stories left about this team there it is I like the rocket emojis those were for Kats he likes that little kid stuff Todd father so we wanted to entertain him Crush City territory if you’re from the area you know what that means you can check it out wherever you get your pods it’s up there first episode if there’s a Tucker trade like this there’ll be another episode flying through so go check it out [Music] all right Kevin with a question in the chat said Bellinger has to get Trad to the Yankees now right I mean it’s making more sense right it’s such a it’s such a great fit I’m not saying he is the an elite player it’s just a great fit fit that he can play first base and center field at a goal glove level and the Yankees want that need it oh and he’s left-handed true I don’t think it has to happen I don’t right I don’t think it has to happen I I don’t think the Yankees are going to overpay for it it’s gonna be much lesser return it’s essentially a salary dump if the Cubs are getting rid of him in my opinion Jos said Nico Herer along with belly to the Yankees now I’m like that’s what I said before that would add that would add something to your lineup that they lacked the ability to put the ball in play striking out little more athletic with the two of them it would be a lot more athleticism it’ be a ton more athleticism but if they’re only going for the Gold Glove aspect of it they still have Trent Grisham Trent Grisham is still a fourth outfielder I get it he’s not an everyday player but you you’re talking about depth and pieces it it would be a it would be a lock of a fit and they wouldn’t have to overpay for Pete Alonzo or Christian Walker I don’t think the Yankees want Pete at that price tag and they’ve got the defensive first base Obsession or at least that’s what I’ve heard from a couple others to keep in mind they’re like Cashman likes those those sexy gloves at first for his whole history of as a GM the big boy bat but yeah we’ll see we’ll see okay this is getting interesting and Ken’s reporting a little deeper into the story on what the package could look like led by isak pus Hayden West neski and third base Prospect cam Smith also in play so telling you Todd when this stuff starts to get like all crispy usually it happens fast so it’s 2:24 eastern time we do a live show every day between 1 and 3: and thank you everyone for doing your business finally during this time period but I think by the end of the show we might do another 10 minutes on this just throwing that out there but in the meantime we’ll take a break we’ll let all the Insiders get more info for like 101 15 minutes while we talk to Ross strippling about his his uh his buddies on the Athletics getting some money [Music] here we go Ross strippling joining us right now on Ft Ross happy offseason to you and I want to say I was looking back like all the teams that you’ve been a part of in your big league career four is it four four okay all very interesting this off season specifically for very different reasons so so first off how you doing man how’s the offseason everything’s good man as always thanks for having me yeah sorry to interrupt uh potential breaking news but uh I’m here let’s talk some ball see what’s going on yeah well actually you want to start there and just give us your take on what Kyle Tucker is like and I don’t know if you’ve faced parades too but you have any scattering reports for us on those too if they end up being involved in a swap yeah so I faced paradus a lot because he was with the Rays when I was a blue jay so he was in division and you know that team was that you know those rais teams were really good but he quickly became the guy that was like uh the the the the Target on the lineup of how do we get this guy out because he can do damage and all the while he’ll take his singles through the Four Hole as well so it’s like okay pick your poison a little bit because you tucked him in back then between like uh Brandon low and Meadows and some guys and he was a power righty so we were quickly worried about him and he has continued that he’s been a power bat in in the lineups that he’s been in and then um who was the other Bellinger I mean I play you know I watched I watched belly win a rookie of the year back in 17 and and turn into an MVP and then struggle and then find it again and you know I heard you guys talking about a little bit before I came on he can play Gold Glove defense at multiple positions and uh that’s obviously something anyone values much less the Yankees and I think he’d be a good fit anywhere he goes especially if in Yankee Stadium pulling homers 263 feet down the line he can do that in his sleep what a pitcher thing to say m 263 ft it’s at least 310 down the line and you know the issue is the gaps but what about Tucker what about how much how much better tuck I shouldn’t I shouldn’t lead I shouldn’t lead the witness how does Tucker rank compared to those two guys oh gosh good question I mean I those they’re all so different right belly and Tucker you can draw some comparisons for sure uh you know both athletic outfielders that can do damage and hit for average uh when when they’re grooving they’re definitely a problem in any lineup I’ve I’ve faced Tucker a handful of times over the years and he is he’s a very interesting guy to face because he’s so nonchalant I think as you guys see sometimes it looks like he doesn’t have a care in the world right he used to wear no batting gloves and you’re like this dude’s crazy and he just you know you can’t tell there’s no difference in him when he’s slumping and when he’s hitting 400 and he has plenty of streaks where he’s hitting 400 and there’s just no safe area like okay cool if you can throw like a black cutter Up and Away you probably are pretty safe but anywhere else he can damage Slug and hit for average and all the while playing Gold Glove right field uh you know he’s going to be a huge sounds like he’s obviously available and going to be a huge ticket item for anyone trying to come get him all right strip what about Luis srino going to the highest bidder the Sacramento Athletics what do you think yeah yeah you know uh uh you know so what it’s biggest contract in the history of the organization right um you know I I I know that there’s plenty of narratives out there they got to spend some money because there there’s a potential like um mlbpa thing coming down on them right you got to spend x amount of money based on Revenue share that you get so I get that as well but also you know the organizations talked about starting to spend money heading into the Vegas move so maybe this is the first piece of that I certainly hope it is that’s that team really does remind me of the Baltimore orol of a couple years ago or the Houston Astros of 10 years ago where they’ve drafted really well they have young pieces they have guys that are clicking at the big league level and some awesome young kids to build around and Now’s the Time to go think about some of the Blue Jays teams I was on too like it it it’s time to build around those guys and give them some pieces and give them a chance to win in a tough division all the while playing in Sacramento it’s going to be a tough couple years of transition but by the time they get to Vegas hopefully they are spinning some dough and and um you know really building around these kids that are going to be in their Prime as as they move into Las Vegas what would you tell what would you tell Severino if you could talk to him about signing with the team he’s already signed so you’re not convincing him to go to Sacramento and play on 110 degree Turf what would you tell him about this team that he’s with now yeah gosh great question man he’s going to have a ton of fun I mean that that was even though like how I performed was not nearly you know what I wanted I had one of the most fun seasons in my career and that was a product of being a veteran and I was the second oldest guy on the team so that was a new role for me that that I took on uh and and really enjoyed trying to you know show some of these guys uh how to survive 162 games guys like Mitch Spence who were starting and relieving and trying to navigate that uh which we’ve talked about on the show prior um you know so really I just want to tell them to to be ready to be a leader be a vocal leader those guys need it uh they’re going to look at you with stars in their eyes and they need you to to show them the way but all the while have fun take the guys to dinner um you know have some fun on the planes and on the road and and um you know really show these guys what it’s like to be in the big leagues all the while it’s going to be tough in Sacramento so they’re going to need it even more and then two um you know that’s a that that’s that’s a place where you are very much um you know we’ve also talked about on the show a little bit they’re they’re you’re not going to get probably as much information as you got in New York both New Yorks right you’re going to you’re you’re going to be on your own to figure out how to navigate some lineups in ways that you maybe haven’t done before yes they’re there the pitching coaches are great I am not talking any is about about the how hard those guys work over there it’s literally just the am ount of information that you’re probably used to versus what you’re going to get in Oakland so if he’s the guy that really likes to Scout and get in the weeds and understand how to get guys out three times and stuff um you know it’s going to be a little bit more on his shoulders maybe than it has been before let me ask you this since being a free agent now do you like guys hit you up uh and ask you about free agency a little bit are you going to answer their calls and give them some good advice like you’re just saying or you are you hitting up guys asking like hey man who needs a pitcher man I’m I’m ready to rock yeah both both of those things you know it’s it’s been a quiet off season that was expected you know I feel like my Echelon of players probably still has liked them mid late January before our markets get going as as teams start to round out their their rotations and then start looking for depth right um you know if it comes to be late January and I don’t have uh any calls I I’ll start uh pinging anybody that’ll listen to me for sure give me a chance to to come throw some innings for him and but no you know I kind of touched on it to to take on a leadership role in Oakland and that was a ton of fun man and to you know you earn that role you guys all got there that’s a role that you earn through through success and longevity in the game so when you get there you want to take advantage of it and when these guys come to your locker and and want to pick your brain and and understand uh you know some of the the mental and physical stuff that they’re going through trying to get their careers off the ground and any any help I can get whatsoever is uh you walk away from those meetings feeling really good about yourself and feeling like you earned that opportunity to help that guy whether whether you actually did or not um you know it’s just fun fun to be a part of uh stuff like that so I’m I’m happy to help anytime anyone uh needs anything from me man because I think that you know it’s just it’s cool to get to a point in your career where you can do that I’ll double down on it I assume you heard what Juan stto said in his press conference about not getting any calls in 2022 after the season was over would it have meant a lot to you did it mean a lot if guys did reach out trying to convince you to say hey come and play with the higantes come back and play with the blue hey we’d love to have you back with the Dodgers would that have meant a lot and did that happen that definitely means a lot man anyone loves um you know praise or or to feel like you uh have been rewarded for what you brought to an organization um you know so yes definitely the the the Blue Jays were in constant communication when I finished that season they it came down to them and the Giants all the way through and end up picking the Giants uh whether that was the right decision or not who knows but uh here we are you know that that that goes a long way for sure and how that made me feel during that process of teams or individuals or players that I play with saying like man we need you back or we want you back in this locker room or or anything I’ve now tried to go out of my way to tell guys um things like that because it it really just it lifts you up it makes you feel good as a teammate good as a player uh I have not had two Good Seasons you know 23 and 24 were not kind to me on the field so when someone gives me a compliment about being a good teammate or being good in the locker room or or stuff uh maybe away from how I pitch that carries a lot of weight because those are compliments that mean a lot to me right now when I know I’m not bringing as much as I can uh between the lines so you know certainly anytime anyone rewards you or compliments you man you take that every time I want to ask about woto a little bit I know you and I we joke about financials and investment advice I mean this guy’s making over 765 million I mean what what’s the first thing you know you would do with that money I mean where where does it have to go I’m just I’m just curious what was the first thing you’d buy that’s what I would want to ask you none of it uh none of it backloaded either so he’s getting it all you know that’s the opposite of a Dodgers current contract you know the the the smart thing to do man you got to find some uni bonds you got to find some taxfree mun bonds because he’s going to be in a extraordinarily High tax rate for 15 years now um so you can go find you some bonds that uh that you grow maybe three four 5% and then you don’t pay the taxes on them that goes a way first thing you buy uh you buy convenience man you buy cars and houses in every place that you’re going to spend time so that when you get there they’re moving ready and you don’t have to deal with any more Logistics than you want to and he can afford that so you you you live that that life of luxury as far as like when he gets to Florida it’s all taken care of when he gets to New York it’s all taken care of when he gets back home to wherever he spends his offseason all that all that stuff because you know now time is his biggest asset money is money is not even a thought anymore so now it’s how do I use spend my time to make my life as efficient and uh obviously help me have success on the field as well I want to hear a guy that’s sound financial advice being like my guy buys a yacht like one time I want to hear that’s a sound financial choice is a yacht but I guess you weren’t the guy well I mean he’s all East Coast right so you can have a yacht and just drive it up the East Coast spends half his time in New York and half his time in Florida he’s uh he’s in yacht territory now I think uh it’s you know what as a financial guy I’ll say it’s it should be on his radar why [Laughter] not yeah I mean also if you think about it guys if if you get a yacht it could make you really happy and financially that makes sense right part of the mix here people be calling him a lot so he’d have to change his number again if he had a yacht well you can’t say that inside joke if strip doesn’t know the storyline behind it so we can tell them real quick the the latest report from Bob n Ando was that stto changed his number so so certain people didn’t have it and they couldn’t call him to recruit him can you give me on a scale of of zero to 10 how much on the BS meter that is for you know a big name to be able to contact a friend if they’d like to get in touch with him how many other Degrees of Separation that they can work their way through in baseball if if we can get anyone’s number at FT I’m pretty sure some of the Superstars and the sport can get a hold of him if need be or at least get the hey he doesn’t want to talk to you that’s different hey he’s just going through the process himself but it’s somewhat easy to get a phone number if you’re a bigname player am I correct on that one I don’t know who you know certainly through agencies that would be the easiest like if you have the same agencies it’s a cakewalk um if you have even like and one close teammate that you’ve shared or coach that you sh it’s it’s easy yeah that’s um I I don’t I guess I don’t understand whether one or 10 is is the easiest in that scenario but I would say it’s like either a two or a nine whichever one is closest to easy exactly thank you all right last one while we were on the money topic because this is good good and this has died down recently but I’m sure it’ll come up again if the Dodgers are dominating this season can you explain in simplest terms what a deferral means in a contract since this goes back to last year and people thinking Otani really got $700 million but it’s deferred money and what that really means and then just people so angry about what these deferrals are and as if the Dodgers just invented them and you know Max Sher is not getting paid by three or four different teams the Nationals were the leaders in the clubhouse to me it’s just like the Dodgers are winning and then they do the deferrals so now everyone wants to know what they are and to get rid of them yeah uh you guys might know it better than me I should know it as as a money guy uh you know from an aav standpoint I’m not sure I actually do totally understand it from how it hits otani’s wallet and uh other deferred guys I think I do understand it uh a little bit more you know and it’s that’s pretty cut and dry it’s like Otani makes $2 million for x amount of years and then starting on year whatever it is he makes $68 million until that contract ends and when he’s making $68 million the government sees it as he is making $68 million and he will owe taxes at that time on $68 Million worth of income and the Dodgers will be on the hook I assume for paying them $68 million of income so the The Narrative I see that is interesting is like are they just punting this down to the next ownership Group which I would ask y’all is that is that how it works like if you got basically yeah quickly yeah within like a year or something I guess my point really was when you look down the line um $68 million 15 years from now or whatever you’re looking at is not $68 million now and that’s how we calculate present day value so that’s the part that I’ve you know not struggled but had to keep reiterating to people as you know is that money um does not look the same now as it does 20 years from now as it did yeah 20 years ago it’s the old oh in my day I could get this for this much right that’s because of inflation and the way that the dollar gets valued in future times that’s how they calculate the present day value how did I do yeah yeah yes that is economics 101 you did great that was fantastic yeah that’s I mean you know in simplest form you want sto’s contract over otanis for sure it’s the old what two in the two in the handsworth one in the bush or whatever right like you can get that money to work now at present value let it put it in uh assets that can grow with inflation or even higher than inflation that way uh you know like really if you were to put it into a compound interest calculator and at at their estate my guess stto will have significantly more money than than Otani if they’re invested somewhat similarly because of his ability to get it front-loaded versus backloaded boom there you go well strip great financial conversations with you next time we’ll bring you on we’ll get your financial combo on on the next deal with the team all right so let’s get you back on when you link up yep appreciate it guys y’all keep up the good work see you next time thank you strip you’re the man appreciate you Ross strippling with us on Ft be right back yes we see the breaking news we’re on [Music] it again we see the breaking news we want to get it to the whole TV crowd as well we’re getting all the info loaded up here we’ve been talking about it for half the show so don’t worry you’re in the right place if you’d like to hear about the Astros and the Cubs but let me tell you about the Red Sox for 2 minutes here you bet MGM look back at a team that was at the 77 and A2 Mark with their number heading into the season we show you the number that that bmgm opened up with last year which was 79 and a half I know they lost Lucas gelo that could be part of the math they go to 77 and a half to start the season they end up at 81 and 81 so if you took the over on the Red Sox being 500ish you were a winner last year this was a tough one for us guys I liked it I I I remember I remember we talked about I liked the over only because it went down I remember talking about the fact that this is a completely 500 team and they made us spot on there you go on the mark so they built it to be a 500 team and they were 500 they played they played above 500 for a little bit and then they would lose and then they would come back all the pitching is unbelievable oh they faded down the stretch oh Kenley janson’s not showing up oh jiren Duran’s an All-Star you know all that stuff all to for a 500 team no Agreed 100% now we G gar crochet I mean should be a little higher no it’s it’s an upgrade it’s a definite upgrade now they need some offense from the Deo side from the right side there you go and Todd I want to be clear they better do more than this I love the crochet move but there there better be at least one more big boy move and they they got Chapman for the bullpen which is nice but I need at least one more big boy move bat or arm I I need another arm in my mind still I I’d like to another starter and another reliever if I’m they need to defend too they need to defend they were brutal they had a ton of airs they need to defend arnado at a cheap rate moved Evers to First what a great move go sign Corbin Burns you can afford him I know you won’t but go do it okay nope they won’t and for us normal folks we try and get it done at the poker table bet MGM Poker merging the player pools in Michigan and new Jersey where toddfa and Eric Katz are at this very moment live on Ft that’s bigger trade breaking news it’s a done deal the Chicago Cubs have acquired Kyle Tucker in a trade with the Houston Astros Tucker is a free agent after this season he is a superstar he’s one of the best players in Major League Baseball period last year was on an MVP track on that conversation at the start of the year of course he went down for about half the season with an injury but when he is on the field he’s a stud he’s been on the field for the majority of his career there’s no injury plagued label on Kyle Tucker guys he’s a five tool player am I right how do you describe Kyle Tucker like give me the scouting report on what the Cubs are getting we’ll go to the Astros side in a moment but what are the Cubs getting because Katz there’s a lot of vanilla in what the Cubs were putting out there recently recently and they said we need a superstar this is a superstar they need to switch things up some teams felt like that this helps the minute he got put on the market coincided with the sto deal ironically some of the numbers this man puts up coincide with stto you’re sitting here going he’s not going to walk as much I get it he is a Astro machine Astros changed up how you take your at bats the way you swing at pitches what pitches you swing at and he is he’s only gotten better he has done a great job of zoning in his pitches but then being able to put the bat on the ball on pitches that are on the edge when it comes to two strikes to me you’re talking about getting a guy that had a eight 10 181 Ops plus and I think sto’s Ops plus last year I get it more at bats was 188 or 186 almost similar Ops plus that’s how you compare players that have different amount of bats and their production this is a huge huge get we’re talking about a monster oh he can play The Outfield too stud kind of piggyback with Katy said man this guy I would love to see him go to uh you know more of a team in contention don’t get me wrong um shots fired no I’m not shooting shots I’m just spitting facts um but you know overall I think you know the Cubs um did a really good job here of of getting him they gave away a couple guys as we talked about but um this is nice man this guy can play he’s just a ball player and Dusty Baker always said the best when you get named hey look at that guy man that guy’s just a ball player and that’s what he is he’s a ball player and he plays the game the right way and he can mash and his swing is beautiful I don’t care what anybody says all right guys ready for this the Ops Plus uh League ballpark adjusted right for Juan stto was 178 Kyle Tucker 181 this past season Kyle Tucker played half the season okay that that is true almost exactly 78 games baseball reference war was about five and for stto his baseball reference war in a full season was eight so if you do double up what Kyle Tucker brought in his prime years for the Astros this season he was according to many fr office is a more valuable player okay not saying that’s my choice but that is how many people would look at him just to give you an idea of the ballpark of value of where this player is not the same bat far superior glove and base runner more well-rounded ball player and really just the facts you’re right Todd father he going to a team that hasn’t been great lately they need a superstar they get one here he had the bone bruise is what the Astros called it eventually it was revealed it was a fracture and it’s big torque guy too right Catz with the swing oh yeah it’s it’s it’s not it’s a different type of Swing it’s a different swing that you know he kind of cuts himself short it’s not that like fluid looking but man does it do I like it it does tons of damage and the fact that he’s never struck out more than a hundred times in a season he’s 112 I think he had 112 RB two years ago he was on Pace for that again seven the year before he’s only 20 he’s going to be 28 this year like to me I love it and for giving up isach Paredes I love the pickup he is he should have been coveted by a lot of teams wait one more and then let’s go to the CB side of things well there it is brus wineski Cam Smith one more on Tucker and then we’ll go over the return for Houston Dana Brown said Kyle Tucker Astro for life don’t worry about it Jam of the Astros whoops not anymore just got to be careful when you’re saying that stuff I love Dana Brown he’s actually he’s very straightforward he’s a guy that’s been in the biz for a long time he’s one of my favorites he was one of the keys behind the Atlanta Braves dominance in the last five to 10 years I mean he’s the guy that would find and sign a lot of the top talent but he’s in the GM chair now and you got to be careful because Kyle Tucker d good and he’s a year away from free agency so this was said about a year and a half ago but Kyle Tucker is not an astro for life because he’s now a cub maybe he didn’t maybe maybe he undervalued what Kyle Tucker was or what Kyle Tucker would have taken you know he’s kind of a he’s kind of a quieter person all that stuff maybe Dana Brown didn’t realize that Juan stto pushing the market like it did Kyle Tucker really could be a 300 million $350 million player and he doesn’t have to go outside the box either just do what he does best don’t feel like you got to do too much just keep mashing from the left side playing a good defense he’s got a cannon of an arm too as well he’s a beast and I think any team would like him to go out there and dominate and this is a good step forward for the Cubbies as well okay now let’s spend a few minutes on the Houston side so Hayden weski nice little pitching death to add to the mix okay Cam Smith could be a dude that’s a high-end Prospect for a Cubs team that actually was in good shape with position player prospects so this is something that’s totally fine and in my mind for Cubs fans very very worth it you need to go get more competitive in the National League central if you’re knocking a ball out for someone like stto you got Tucker for a year try and whine and dine and extend him but even if not you got to be more competitive next year this helps okay so now ESO Paratus I’m gonna take you back Kats because I started looking through my notes and the fit I had for paradus um at the trade deadline I was like paradus to the Astros first base last year didn’t happen and I’m like boom now we get it now we get to see the extreme flyball pull hitter do his thing in Houston with that freaking band box that they’ve got and the Crawford box is specifically in left field this is a park that in my mind is perfect for him he he’ll do the little dance Ross strippling told us where he’ll work the all Fields but his power is to one place okay and he was a stud in the first half for Tampa Bay his numberb fell off with Chicago the Cubs park park Factor wise was third toughest according to stack has for right-handed hitters last year Houston’s plugging him in and saying let’s go baby this guy’s about to be a force for us it’s not Kyle Tucker but this is a really good Big League replacement bat big Le repacing Bat that can play Third and first we talked about it a little bit you can’t sit there and go wow he’s at third now so Alex bregman be look nice if they bring Alex bregman back and they go they go and put they go and put uh paradus at first especially since you know especially since you can’t you don’t have to pay Tucker now maybe you can pay bregman all right be right back for the TV crowd we’ll keep this [Music] going maybe I’m overplaying it Todd father but I don’t like the Astros is having to trade Kyle Tucker if you’re going to do it you get a bat like parus who can hit you 30 maybe 40 bombs if he has his prime year and it all works for him in Houston that’s a nice replacement bat like I was saying in the lineup and then you get Cam Smith Who’s Got High upside you get some more pitching depth I like the return I like the trade a lot for both sides I agree but those words 30 to 40 I put Jose BR to be the home run leader when he got traded so be very careful with what you say over there all right that that’s all that I was just making a point but I do agree that’s all that’s true you know 2023 paradus hit 31 home runs when he was with Tampa Bay in 571 plate appearances he was on Pace this past season yeah it really fell off with Chicago but I don’t think he like playing those Day games all the time I I don’t know maybe it’s something different Chicago for right hand ERS concur tougher than for lefties concur Ryan s you got hit you got to hit it in the perfect spot in left Center where where and he’s he’s hooking them Johns you got to go you got to go way back in left Center and or left field and with the wind yep how you doing yeah I’m I’m not a big Morell guy that the Cubs traded him because it’s a lot of swing and Miss in the bat and it’s not a good Defender you don’t know where to put him so I really liked the upgrade but yes the fit in terms of that replacement was a quick no from the Cubs not that they weren’t going to keep them but it looked like they said oh we can put this guy in a Kyle Tucker trade let’s make this happen so good for them obviously we have a cub show we have an astro show so we’re gonna get into it um on both sides there we’re going to continue this conversation next week too but North Side territory tave Sharma and Patrick Mooney are the guys to break what’s going down in Chicago on a daily basis over to at the athletic and over on podcast format you can check out the YouTube channel it’s there for you they’re going to do some type of big breaking news show and then same thing with Crush City territory brand new part of the Ft Network Chandler Rome um is going to lead the way there and uh you’ll hear from those two Chandler and Tyler along with potentially else joing the mix there but anyway we’re gonna do slap hands next huge huge trade news here on a Friday [Music] n [Music] let’s slap toddfather I’m going to give you last word because we covered the Cubs and the Astros side of this the Yankees were definitely trying to pluck Kyle Tucker from the Astros I don’t think Jim Crane wanted to trade him there but also they’re asking for L heel your boy Jack Curry said they were not going to put heel in there it’s not a free agent until 2029 and they just weren’t willing to go that route no and I think that’s the right decision he’s a of the year he came off strong everybody was worried about his arm not throwing that much he’s a guy that you have for cheap and he throws hard is he erratic yeah don’t get me wrong but we can we like I’m still playing but they can figure it out and and work with him a little bit more they just got a couple guys Devin Williams they’re on the rise again and you know there’s other teams on them too so um they thought this was the best trade so again Yankees did make their moves and there is more to come espe in New York with Yankees and the Mets what are the Phillies doing Kats nothing oh sorry it’s okay Kats out I was just thinking Man Tucker in the outfields with that crew it might be next year right yep could be coming off the books they did they did try they try could be after 2025 right the Yanks might be saying okay you’re not we’re not giving you heal for the next six years but heal might after this year if you don’t pay the guy big trade finish off the Friday at winter meetings that was fun he [Music]
