with the Kentucky side of things heavy favorites should win the game but what are you hoping to see from Kentucky beyond that that will give you more more confidence in this team than you have coming into this game honestly I don’t think I can get more confident in this team at this point um really yeah I’m kind of waiting for it to crash crash uh but I don’t think it will like um that’s the thing like I that’s just what I want to I just want to see continued success because I don’t think it’s ever going to end um you know A lot’s being said about the shooting um I hate I me we we did a I said this with Riley or I said this with you I hate the notion when when people go oh what happens if they miss their shots like that that’s how basketball works ball doesn’t go in basket points don’t go on scoreboard you lose like that has nothing to do with like that isn’t a jump shooting team thing that’s anybody ball doesn’t go in basket you’ll lose I don’t think this team’s ever not g to be able to make shots um I think they’re supremely talented um they it turns out you put a bunch of good Shooters on a team they will shoot and shoot well and um I don’t think they’re ever going to like not be able to score I think they’re always gonna um have a chance in any game against any opponent for that matter and um I just look to see the continued confidence behind them and the aura and the vibe because that to me is what makes this team special it’s how together they are um the aura that they bring every single game and just how hard they play so I just want to see that continue I’m with you a thousand percent if there is one thing that I want to see maybe a little bit more it’s them forcing some turnovers on the defensive end and being able to turn that into offense because that’s an element of just easy offense and easy defense quite frankly that they just haven’t really done this season Western Kentucky wants to play incredibly fast they have the they’re play at the 11th fastest Tempo in the country for kenpom like I think this game is going to be up and down bet the over but I think that plays into ky’s hands that also lends itself to Wester Kentucky turning the ball over because they get a little reckless sometimes and try and en Force some things now this was a team that was within a basket of beating Grand Canyon a good Grand Canyon team this was a team that was seven points away from beating wiah state in the opener like the the hill Toppers have been close although obviously not against teams Kentucky good but good quality teams this is their chance to kind of Step Up entally get one of those Marquee wins if they are able to pull off this upset Dion how do you see it happening is it just a matter of Kentucky to to quote you just not just not making shots more about Kentucky or is there anything Western Kentucky can do I’m not sure there’s a thing Western Kentucky can do um I mean I I will say this I’m massive I don’t think this works for this game but I’m massive into the idea of like you know it’s a bunch of players I wish they were on the other team so they kind of go nuclear um so I could I could definitely get behind the idea of like a nuclear performance from one of Western kuy’s players that’s like yo I told you I should have been on Kentucky like this was my childhood dream uh the reason I don’t think that works in this game is no one on Kentucky thought they would be playing for Kentucky seven months ago so that’s true it’s a bit it’s a bit of a two-way street where I don’t think any like the Kentucky players are also feeling that way so I don’t know how much it works in that game but if they get a nuclear like hey I should have been on Kentucky performance I could see it it’s certainly there and why I I agree with your sentiment about a team not being able to make shots and just like you don’t score points you’re not going to win games I think the fear with Kentucky is because they are such a three-point dominant team if the shots aren’t going what else can they do to get things going right like like it’s the same kind of thing we talk about with Louisville I don’t know Kentucky fans are going to love the comparison to Louisville but that Louisville um Tennessee game where Louisville just came out playing fast shooting a lot of threes and none of them went in and it was like okay what else can you do to get some momentum going and they didn’t have a second option they just kept doing it and kept missing shots that I think is the fear with Kentucky now they have much better Shooters than anybody else in the country you go 10 Deep with Shooters you’re G to find somebody more than often than not at least some person who’s making shots but what else can you do I’m interested to see that some of these games you West Kentucky got Georgia State end of the week Colgate later on in December and then you close you know non-conference play with Brown those are the kind of games where I’m looking at okay what what else can you do I think you can throw it to Mar Williams on the post he can do some stuff you know I think you get Lamont Butler go and Jackson Robinson going to the basket like I think there are some multi-dimensional stuff here with Kentucky’s offense that we haven’t seen them totally utilize because they haven’t had to but that to me is if we if if alarm Bells start going off it’s that three point shots not falling and they get that same kind of Louisville I don’t know what else to do yeah I don’t disagree I I just it it didn’t it could just be said about any team and I hate that jump shooting teams are the only ones that get the focus of the of that because it’s just it’s it’s like I said ball doesn’t go in basket points do not go on scoreboard you lose game but we only talk about it with jump shooting teams so like I do get it I do get it because like I get the notion I just it’s for me it’s more so like the same can be said about Yukon or like yeah if Z if Zack Ed shot wasn’t on last year what was Purdue going to do right like there’s there’s just so many different variations of it that I don’t like when jump shooting teams only get the focus I the my push back on it with this Kentucky team is it’s not just the shots are going in it’s the looks they’re creating um because I said the same thing about Bama but the difference between Bama and Kentucky to me is that well one kenty’s just better at shooting the ball I think that’s probably like that that’s a massive part of there’s no Kobe Bray on Bama but too I don’t feel like Bama’s bigs are helping create the shots Amari Williams is creating a ton of open threes I scoffed at the idea of him leading the team in assists I was wrong I still don’t think he leads the team in assist so like I might I might be right but he’s a very like he’s much much much much more talented at passing than I thought um and so I was wrong about that and I think when the way they’re creating the shots is why I don’t have any concern about them not going in cuz they’re not just running up and down the court shooting threes they they’re still getting those paint touches um through Amari Williams through Andrew Carr and just the amount of space I mean Kirk CA is coming off the bench sliding it up Kobe Bray is coming off the bench sliding it up Jackson Robinson has a ton of Wiggle to his game it seems so I think they have like those other methods to the madness they haven’t had to use it yet um but I I think it’s there I think it is too to be fair I’m I’m just playing Devil’s Advocate I love this Kentucky team and I hope Kentucky fans watching this know how much I’ve Loved Mark Pope and kuy’s team going back to the summer but if there is one thing maybe that’s it we we’ll we’ll see what happens um Ken pom we’re gonna go by Ken pom has Kentucky winning this game by 19 let’s go let’s just for the sake of argument use the line as Kentucky minus 19 in this game if you are going to bet on it I suggest you check at any of the lines before we do this because I like to have like an honest reaction um I was going to bet Kentucky up to about 29 like I I think they win this game by 25 to 30 I mean they I get Western KY is like the best opponent theyve faced since Duke but Western Kentucky ain’t that good in non dukee games so the four other games Kentucky has played against ra State Bucknell lipom and Jackson State kuy’s averaging 102 points per game they won games by 4 31 28 29 and 49 19 is too small way too forget like the this like if Kentucky gets to 100 that means that Western Kentucky has to score 80 yes which I don’t think they can do no like Kentucky doesn’t need to play defense for Western Kentucky not to score 80 like they’re just going to miss some shots here and there it’s yeah it
