[Music] [Music] what’s going on everybody and welcome to the ncks versus you know who it is the Knicks versus the Utah Jazz post game show I am your host Troy I appreciate you guys check checking out the stream tonight and of course you guys could be anywhere this evening but you chose to be here with me and I really do appreciate that before we break down the game and talk about all of the things that happened tonight we got to talk about the subscribers because again guys we just reached the goal well not the goal almost the goal of n of 20,000 subscribers we just hit 19,000 subscribers on great content that we’re creating for you now getting to tonight’s game I can’t lie guys it was a very very hard watch from start to finish and there’s one reason reason why it was a hard watch it was the defense the Knicks defense from that first quarter all the way to the fourth quarter was non-existent perimeter defense not there we allowed so many open threes in terms of the Interior defense not there as well too we only saw it during a few moments when we made some adjustments we’ll get to that a little bit later on to the show into the video but we only saw it in terms of adjustments we didn’t really see the defense inside like we wanted to but offensively we are going to see nights like this we’re going to have bad nights and tonight we had a bad night offensively Our Stars could not hit anything the only person who did anything on that Court worth talking about is OG an anobi and Josh Hart we’re gonna break down exactly how the Knicks lost this game how the Utah Jazz took advantage of the Knicks and their collapsing defense and what they did the entire game to expose a major weakness for New York we’re going to talk about all of this and so much more today if you’re the defense collapses Utah takes advantage of New York’s major weakness what’s our major weakness guys let’s take a guessing game here you can go to the chat if you want to chat you can play along if you’re watching the playback please add a comment below what’s the Knick’s biggest weakness right now it starts with a d defense and that was absolutely clear from start to finish we’re talking about ogn and Obi getting blocked by Walker Kesler the Knicks not wanting to drive inside either because they feared their shot being blocked they feared that they were going to get doubled and the ball was going to get out of their hands it was going to be another turnover and it was going to be a transition bucket for Utah whatever the reason may be one thing is absolute the Knicks settled for three-point shots this game you want to know how I know that because we shot 51 threes 51 we never ever even get to that point ever for the entire season I don’t think we ever shot 51 threes but tonight we did that because we were not attacking the pain enough and news flash when we went up and we got the game close when it was a two-point game in the third quarter how did we do that we did it by attacking we did it by shooting our threes moving the ball and moving ourselves when we do that the game’s going to get easier for us if we did that for the entire game we probably would have won but we didn’t do that we kept relying on the three ball to try to get us out of it we could not defend anything Utah got whatever they wanted they wanted to get something inside they did it how did they do it they attacked Carl Anthony towns or they made Carl lanthony towns switch on a player that took him a couple of feet out of the paint and that way they got a back door cut or they found somebody else open in the wing in the corner and that converted to an open three and a lot of times we saw the doing what standing there watching them take threes if you watch this Channel and you know my pet peeves what’s the number one of them watching a player stand there get ready setting and do the entire motion to shoot their shot seon did that Kat excuse me katante George he did that so many player lri marinan catch and shoot monster torched us tonight and the process they exposed a major weakness what’s the major weakness guys the major weakness they exposed was that if you attack the pain against the Knicks if you if you switch on defense if you make sure that you run as soon as they miss and you try to get transition buckin against the Knicks you’re likely going to convert you’re going to score and you’re going to go up big against us you’re going to make it hard against New York Utah just did that and they showcased if you attack inside that good things are going to happen cuz either the Knicks are going to collapse on that player which allows so many other Corner shots to be open and you know the Knicks are not going to run out and close out the right way to those Corner shots we’ve seen it enough times now but all of those reasons all the things we just mentioned the rebounding the lack of assist the lack of ball movement the fact that we were missing our shots when all of those things are happening and our stars are not showing up they’re not there on offense we’re going to lose the game it’s likely going to be a blowout and at times during that game the the Knicks were down almost 18 to 19 points that’s what it was and even though we try to make our runs it was many runs because we could never put anything together it was not sustained Su excuse me it was not sustained success and there was a reason for that it’s because whenever we made a run we would excuse me whenever we made a run we would play a little bit of Defense we would get a couple of points and then we would lose it we would allow them to attack and then whatever lead what excuse me whatever whatever we did inside whatever damage we did to try to lower that lead it didn’t matter Utah would respond they would attack and they would build that lead all the way back up and when that happens as another player an opposing player it’s diminishing your effort it makes it feel like no matter what you do it doesn’t matter because you’re going to lose anyways and that’s exactly the energy it looked like the Knicks were playing with all the fourth quarter because whenever they made a push in a run Utah respond resped and we could never come back and in the process we lost that game shout out to excuse me shout out to the New York Knicks account on the appx for giving us the following information in terms of the final score as you can see here the Utah Jazz beat the New York Knicks 121 to 106 I want to mention something here the game even though that score makes it seem like it was closer I felt for the entire game the Knicks were probably down it felt like to me anyways down 20 or down 16 or 18 points consistently whenever we got it close to 11 they drove it all the way back to 12 it didn’t matter a couple of notes Here breaking down the game and breaking some of the notes in terms of the first quarter and second quarter and after we do this we’re going to go to the chat gang get to your comments and see your take for the gang so definitely have that ready make sure you’re uh you’re typing that down in the comments as we speak right now but as we see here for the first quarter the Knicks start out slow missing shots we normally would make well allowing a lot of open three-point shots allowing them to attack inside Sims and Payne when they check in for cat and Hart the defense gets better instantly and New York ties the game at 28 to 28 after being down 13 in the first that’s something we have to mention the the level of Defense when we saw cat inside and we are going to get to Carl Anthony towns because we have to the defense inside tonight was exposed all the good things that Carl Anthony towns does on offense you can see what he gives you back on defense sometimes it’s nothing and he gets attacked the Knicks get excuse me the Knicks get attacked inside they get exposed inside and you see what happens but obviously when you’re seeing with the Knicks and campaign and Jericho Sims when they’re checking into the game you see what they can offer when they checked in campaign’s defense underrated mind you campaign on the defensive side of the ball for New York completely underrated he changed the flow of the game when he was inserted the defense changed the level of consistency on that end change for the Knicks we were getting more stops we were converting more I think one of his first plays was a pass to an open OG an anobi he was hitting his threes he was making sure he was passing the ball Jericho Sims his defensive pressure inside it was better than cat he was helping to block shots his help defense was better he was getting the rebounds I’m not a big Jericho Sims fan I think a lot of people know that but I’m also somebody that gives credit where credit is due Jericho Sims he deserves that credit so he had a little bit of shine there for me couple of other notes here um the Knicks still have defensive issues but are getting open looks they’re just not hitting them their interior defense is a problem they continue to get attacked that’s the major thing here the major Point here is that the Knicks continue to get attacked inside we our paint defense our interior defense at times is non-existent we’ve seen it over the course of this win streak even against the bad teams the Nets the Wizards all of those games we saw it then we we got taken advantage of inside when the when the level of competition gets a little bit better and we’re playing better teams we get even more exposed inside because those better teams are able to attack cat they’re able to go back door they’re able to pass to a cutter inside pass to somebody in the wing in the corner who’s open and we’re always paying for it we always get hurt with the the same thing am I the only one that’s tired by it are you guys not upset with the penetration and then the creation from the other team each and every time and we’re not stopping it we’re not stopping the three we’re not stopping the penetration inside we’re not stopping the cutter and we can stop it because look at what we did in the third quarter the third quarter proves to me it should prove to you we can play defense when we want to when we step up and we really want to do it but when we choose not to you see the result it’s nothing they can do anything it was a layup line they did whatever they wanted they attacked they went at cat they went at Brunson they switched they made sure they got size advantage on us they did everything and we couldn’t do nothing we couldn’t stop anything whatever run we made they shut it down and there is a reason for that we couldn’t put anything together consistently not one thing not one thing consistently that’s why we lost this game this was a winnable game from start to finish winnable Utah lost four straight we won four straight there’s a difference level there we did not show up the way we needed to tonight we were not aggressive the way we should have been if we were aggressive inside the paint tonight we win this game we win this game how did we win all the other games aggressive inside I don’t know why we straight away from that tonight you’ll notice half the shots we put up tonight were three-point shots go look at any other game we played this season you’re not going to find that stat I don’t know why they did that tonight have no idea it’s not been the formula to success it hasn’t been so why do it tonight it doesn’t make sense but we’re going to continue here with some more of the uh excuse me we’re going to continue here with some more of the notes that we have for that second quarter I wish cat was more aggressive that was the 810 Mark in the second quarter but as soon as I said that he starts to be aggressive Utah continu to attack inside they get open looks from three we’re still late with some of our Closeouts and they’re still getting whatever they want New York cannot stop Utah’s offense and on defense the Knicks continue to allow threes and they get pushed around inside you continue to see it it’s not only my eyes we all see the Knicks getting pushed around inside the Knicks were down four and and and that was the four-minute Mark remaining in the second quarter now the Knicks down 12 there’s a reason for that we made substitutions we had other players in the game and we continued to go down ball movement was still good by the way we were still getting others involved it was the fact that we were not hitting anything the brightest spot the brightest spot guys was OG an anobi and what he was doing for this team the fact that he was hitting so many open threes he was aggressive the Knicks were looking for him because they knew if they got it to OG he was going to be consistent on offense I never thought to start the season we would be looking to OG anobi for consistent offense but look at where we are right now exactly there the game we should have won was this game against Utah it’s an absolute shame that we dropped this game we never should have done that ever our defense or excuse me our lack of defense is the reason we lost this game if we even played League average defense we might have won but let’s take a look at some of the numbers because when you see the numbers when you see the numbers like I saw the numbers this is where everything changes and you start to see the major weakness exposed let’s take a look at exactly what the numbers say shout out to ESPN for giving us to following we have some other notes here as well too we’re going to get into that we’re definitely going to get to your comments so please if you’re in the chat gang right now continue to comment leave your take let me know how do you feel about the game I want to hear from you but the team stat say it alone it says it alone 50% from the field for Utah 55.9% from three the Knicks conversely 33.33% from three 39% from the field the Knicks can’t even convert on the turnovers that they cause Utah Utah has 18 turnovers the Knicks only have nine and we still didn’t beat them we still got blown out basic Al but the rebounding numbers 52 to 40 52 to 40 we can’t shoot we didn’t pass the ball and we got outrebounded our Stars didn’t show up what else is going to happen you’re going to lose major weakness right there Force the Knicks to shoot threes how do you force them to do that make sure they’re scared to drive inside again I don’t know if it was Walker Kessler his shot blocking ability I have no idea why the Knicks did not attack why Carl Anthony towns took so long to attack and even when he did it was up and down Walker Kesler he got the best of him tonight not going to lie he did the length the athleticism the block shots he was creating that fear as well too you could tell the play our players when they got the ball in their hands and Walker was inside that inside the paint they would walk around him no pun intended and try to get somebody else open because they did not want to deal with that shot blocking and they knew he could shot block so I don’t know if that was the only reason why but if that was the case there are other ways to get around it New York could have done so many other things to to try to make this better but as we saw there when you’re allowing Utah to shoot 50 plus from three in the field how are you going to win you can’t win games like that there’s no way you can win games like that you’re going to lose shout out again to New York basketball on the appex one of my favorite accounts if you guys not following them make sure you do you see our stars tonight I mean Carl Anthony towns agga 34 Jaylen Brunson ag5 as we lose tonight’s game you see here Carl Anthony Town 16 points six of 19 from the field one of nine from three I mean every time I see a stat like that I think you guys have the same question right you missed four why did you take five more why and I know I guess he’s open I understand that you want to take him I get it but you missed five of them you shot four more times you got to know when you don’t have it you did not have it tonight credit to Jaylen Brunson who figured it out early that he didn’t have it and tried to do other things a little bit better even though he took a lot of Threes as well too another question two of nine from three why did you take so many threes and when you knew you were missing so many but again he was open on some of them so you couldn’t really blame him Carl Anthony towns 16 points six of 19 from the field as you guys are seeing here um one of nine from three 16 rebounds eight offensive five assists minus 13 for the night jayen Brunson 2 3 points eight of 19 from the field two of nine from three eight assist minus 15 I mean listen it was pretty clear what they did from Brunson I think you saw it when they even started the game they started to switch on Brunson pretty easily I think what they did initially was I think they had was it George think they had George on them initially once they had George and went into the paint they tried to switch marketing on him then they tried to switch ketler on him they tried to keep excuse me they try to keep a big alongside of him because they knew if they had a big right alongside of him it would like be hard for jayen Brunson to do anything one thing I thought Jaylen didn’t do that he did a lot last year and I remember it because he did it against Miles Turner he used to attack The Bigs a lot and I thought this game he didn’t attack Kesler Kesler was switched on him John Collins with switched on him why didn’t he attack that switch Jaylen Brunson normally attacks the switch maybe he didn’t have confidence in his shot tonight and that’s why he didn’t attack but I thought Jaylen Brunson could have did a lot more in the paint if he just attacked he could have went to the line more if he just attacked so there’s a lot of things I expected to see from Jaylen Brunson I do expect him to get better again all of all teams in the NBA are going to experience a night like this where you’re going to have a bad night Nicks had a bad night offensively but see this is the problem the Knicks can’t afford to have a bad night offensively because we don’t play defense like that our defense is horrid so now you understand if we can’t play offense the way we normally can with it jelling and flowing like that and our defense look the way it does we’re going to look like this team this is what being exposed feels like because we look like a great team on offense right what happens on a night when your offense isn’t going well what team do we look like tonight we look like a terrible team we did not do anything worth talking about besides some things on offense we’re going to get to the offensive player we should be talking about I promise you before we do that though before we get to more of the information we have for the game the shot chart the the team stats OG and and Obi Josh sh Mel Bridges all of those players we got to go to the chat game you guys are live right now you guys are this is acceptable I want to have a conversation with you Leon Mitchell says we have a so-called defensive Guru as a coach and that is fraudulent he’s not wrong by saying that Tom tho in terms of having a a team ready for defense and you knew you knew that Utah likes to run you know they like to push you know they like to run in transition if you know that why not coach your team to make sure they’re better prepared for that it looked like they didn’t have any idea Utah was going to run Utah ran at them all night long they kept running we miss run oh oh they got the steal run every time they ran it was like we were a step slow I know we’re one of the slowest paced teams in the league but come on you got to do something Junior’s in the house he says this was a shocking loss it was shocking we should have beat the Utah Jazz there is no if ANS or buts about it ladies and gentlemen we are a better team they’re are playing Team you should be upset I’m upset I’m living right now but I have to be a little bit professional and cover the game you want to get my livid response wait till we get to the chat gang later on in the show when I’m done with this post game wait till then of the floor he’s not the only one that had a bad game Jaylen had a bad game too Mel had a bad game too couple of other players had a bad game no knock but we have to call it like we see it Carl Anthony towns had a bad game tonight look at the defense look what happened to us defensively am I the only one that saw that can I pull up the numbers again 50.6 from the field and 55.9 from three it’s not only towns’ fault but what did we see tonight did we not see towns inside the paint get dragged out of the paint and then it’s all open in the paint open for Cutters open for back door passes and then if you have a penetrator there guess what he has Now options can I pass it to the top of the key can I pass it to the corner do I take the shot myself oh somebody else is cutting that’s what we gave them 50% from the field he is our defensive anchor inide he is not the only issue team defense is an issue but his defense individually is a problem Jaylen Brunson individually has problems on defense but you know what that third quarter I saw a little bit of Jaylen Brunson defense I saw him trying to steal the ball I saw all of that we got to call it even here if we’re going to talk about Carl Anthony towns and all the great things he does when he has a great game on offense and I do that a lot we have to talk about what he doesn’t do on defense you have to call it fear like that you have to yeah we have to talk about it that’s a real conversation we’re not only going to talk about offense what are you giving me defensively What Fear are you imposing to the other players are you doing anything there because I’m talking about that yes he does Nick 100 sorry I gotta read his comment Nick 100 GM says he still did other things to help the team sure I can say the same thing about Mel Bridges but K Bridges had a bad game and I’m going to call him out on it and by the way check all of my videos check all the content creators out there who was one of the number one people that towns I’ve been saying this basically since we got towns and I’ve been vilified for it people have criticized me for it saying why are you talking about getting another Center Troy we have a center his name is Carl Anthony towns yeah we do on offense not on defense Carl Anthony towns is the best five on for centers on offense guaranteed I’ll give you that on defense I don’t know where he ranks I don’t even think he ranks we have to do better we got to get somebody else with him there that can switch on defense for him that way towns can play the five on offense and somebody else Robinson auua whoever can play the five on defense you do that you’re going to get yourself a better Carl Anthony towns I promise you cuz he’s not going to be as asked to do all those things defensively and if he’s not asked to do that guess where he’s using that energy to attack to drive to shoot to do other things CU he can do other things he’s capable of doing other things but we have to put him in the right position ask yourself a question and be honest with yourself and leave a comment below and let me know if this is true can we win a championship with the level of defense that we’re getting from Carl quarter long couple of more notes here for the third quarter defense to start the game horrible to end the quarter six minutes when campaign and Sims checks in got a lot better OG an anobi the one constant on offense tonight Brunson can’t hit anything tonight but helping in other ways drawing fouls making assists OG and anobi that’s it now you guys clearly you guys keep hearing me say ogn and OB this ogn and OB that why is he talking about OG so much I’m going to get to more of the those notes but I can’t contain myself anymore we talked about so much bad I got to talk about a little bit of good here the little bit of good I have is one of these guys the guy that showed up and had an amazing game OG G and aobi we did lose but OG and anobi won in his own individual way 27 points seven of 12 from three three Steels two blocks demon time how else you describe that demon time you guys see that seven of 12 from three seven threep pointers made who bet that tonight you’re a rich man if you did that that’s insane I could not believe it I also could not believe the way that anobi was scoring the way he was faking shots faking the three driving getting others involved playmaking what this anobi that we have this year is completely different than the anobi we had last year he was not doing any of this last here I don’t know why but the anobi we have now seems like he’s unlocked I love what I’m seeing from OG the aggression on offense the aggression on defense honestly if we had League average defense with OG OG alone would might excuse me might make our defense a little bit higher just because of the way he plays how physical he is sometimes just do yourself a favor sometimes if you don’t like what you’re watching as a team defense watch OG and and Obi only watch the way he plays individual defense it’s suffocating his arms are always either in the passing Lane draped over his guy trying to go around his it’s ridiculous the way he plays defense I wish everybody on New York could play defense like him he is active at all times every single moment he’s on the floor and that’s something to say about OG again he impressed me so much tonight 27 points 7 to 12 from three three steals two blocks great great perform performance from him it didn’t result in a win but it was still a good performance from him we’re going to talk about a couple of these other players you see here in terms of the minutes the breakdowns and obviously the dnps we see with Matt Ryan Jacob Topp and and Ariel hpy we will get to that I promise you but before we do that I want to go to the team stats because one of the things we’re going to look at for tonight’s game we talked about some of the stars and we talked about what they did but when you look at the team stats and you see what jumps off the page besides the shooting and the rebounding and the assist something else is here when you see it you’re not going to be able to unsee it unfortunately it’s just something that’s there where is it there we go apologies for that and we’re going to get to the shooting chart as well too in a second don’t get me wrong there I love getting to the shooting chart what the Knicks are doing well so one second here but as we can see there one main point to look at if we’re looking at the largest lead 19-2 in favor of the Utah Jazz that’s one points in in the paint we normally dominate there you see what happened this time around Utah beat us in points in the paint 46 to 20 excuse me 46 to to 42 so that’s something else we have to look at but something else that may go a little bit unnoticed is the rebounding on the defensive rebounding side 43- 29 so yeah we lost rebounds but it’s important to understand how we lost rebounds where we lost rebounds and where we did was on the defensive side of the ball so offensively we were still doing what we needed to do getting those Miss shots trying to get our balls back that was fine but when it came to defensive rebounds we were struggling we had an issue with that the reason I say to notice that is that’s not something we should be really struggling with we should be able to put oursel in a position to get those rebounds and honestly look back at the last couple of games we almost always win on the defensive rebounding side of the ball offensive side as well too but not by many not by a lot but the excuse me but defensive rebound wise we do a lot there it was a little bit shocking to me when I looked at the numbers I saw the breakdown of rebounds that we actually lost that losing total rebounds is bad enough but losing defensive rebounds that was something eye openening to look at obviously with the stats as well too with the shooting with the Knicks and their poror shooting and everything like that that was something that the Knicks just couldn’t control when you can’t stop a team from shooting you’re not playing defense you’re not passing the ball you’re getting outrebounded and all of these other things that the team stats show you there you’re giving yourself the worst opportunity to win a game and the Knicks basically did that to start the game all the way to ending the game even during their mini runs their mini runs meant nothing because as much as they scored they couldn’t do anything with the stops they got but in but conversely Utah did whatever they wanted to do with the stops they got and that was the difference the main difference that we saw something to think about there we’re going to review some other numbers here shout out well we did the Carl Anthony towns one here one second trying to get to the next slide there we go Josh Hart and Mel Bridges all right oh Mel man I’m gonna break down Mel for a second before I go to Josh har because Josh har was another one that was impressive with Mel Bridges man seven points three of 15 from the field one of seven from three zero assists how do you defend that I have a line that I say to some of my friends now if you want me to defend you you have to give me something to defend you with Carl Anthony towns gave me offense but no defense can’t defend them on that Mikel Bridges didn’t give me offense barely gave me defense and did anybody notice who was playing that fourth quarter wasn’t Mel it’s campaign campaign was playing that final quarter not m Bridges most of those minutes went to campaign that’s something to notice as well too that means Mel Bridges and his defense is not where it needs to be if I’m calling out towns I’m calling out Mel probably one of his worst performances as a Nick in terms of total impact he had almost no impact when he was driving inside did not look confident with his shot legs look tired I have no idea what Mel was doing on some of those the excuse me on some of those defens plays sometimes he was able to get the steel sometimes sometimes he was in the passing Lane and he was able to get the rebounds I’m not saying he wasn’t trying to make those plays he was in the right moment at some points but I’m not gonna if I’m not going to give Carl Anthony towns the credit for doing things right sometimes then I’m not going to give Mel Bridges the credit for doing things right sometimes sometimes doesn’t win you basketball games consistency Wills you basketball games we are not consistent with anything we’re consistently good on offense that’s it and tonight we showed you consistently means most of the time not all of the time clearly not all of the time because if it was all of the time we would have won offensively we can do things but defensively if it can’t be consistent enough that we can play 48 minutes of the same level of defense or a little bit better defense each and every quarter we’re going to lose you can’t win games like that you can’t win games when you don’t play defense are we going to try to outscore our opponent each and every night do we think that’s our recipe for Success ask Boston how that feels like try to do that against Boston try to do that against Dallas when they’re fully healthy or the Nuggets when they’re fully healthy try to do that against the best teams in the league shoot the three ball against them and then don’t play defense and allow them to do whatever they want to do see how that works out for you that’s not a recipe for success and we have to fix that it it’s an embarrassment tonight absolute embarrassment if you’re a fan you should be embarrassed ask yourself we should have lost to Utah we’re okay losing to Utah they lost four straight we’re okay losing to Utah I’m not minutes talk about somebody that absorbed all of Duce McBride’s minutes basically Tyler kic 11 minutes Pome D 3 minutes as we talked about earlier Matt Ryan Jacob toppen and Ariel hpy all dnps and likely they’re going to stay dnps unless an issue comes up an injury but honestly we’re getting healthier right now as the Knicks get healthier they’re not going to really play these rookies anymore they’re likely going to continue to play the players that they have coming back so press zoua Mitchell Robinson miles McBride they’re going to see time not saying that maybe Pome daier wouldn’t see time he might still see time but that’s probably the only person I can think of because when you get more bigs in that means all the bigs you had before are likely going to get pushed down the pecking order Huck pory is part of that as well too I want to see Huck pory just as much as you guys do but as we get healthier we’re really not going to see that let’s take a look at the shot chart see what that showed us tonight and see what that exposed so as we see here Utah in Black New York in blue Utah I mean my goodness shot everywhere but did their damage outside you can see they did a lot of they tried to do a lot of damage inside the paint they really couldn’t do that much but outside I mean look at that look at the corner over there that type of the key over that corner my goodness they destroyed us they look like they didn’t even miss from that corner look at that guys I mean that’s just that’s just ridiculous 55.9% from three you can see why there’s not that many misses there’s not that many uh filled in circles excuse me uh open circles on the corner there is there not that many to begin with we got destroyed and we allowed them to destroy us and look at what the Knicks did conversely does that look like a Knicks game does this look like a typical Knicks game I don’t remember the last time I saw the Knicks shooting that many threes outside and if you didn’t see the stat just now look what it says there three-pointers 17 of 51 we took a 100 Shots by the way took a 100 shots 51 of those shots were three let that sink in for a second took a 100 shots 51 of them were threes we missed so many only made 17 of them for a resounding 33% and that’s what we did all game long look at the amount of unfilled in circles how many times we missed in this game it’s ridiculous and before we knew it we started attacking the paint but it was too late lead was built up gave this young Jazz team so much confidence they were doing everything Colin ston getting it Carl Anthony towns by the way if I was towns I would have mugged that little man he’s This Tall I’m not gonna let little little per try to push me around like that I would have bodied him I would have I’m just saying Colin seon thinks that he’s he’s the one he’s the toughest player on the court somebody needs to check him really fast I wish Carl Anthony towns did that but whatever doesn’t really matter either way I just want this Knicks team to show that they wanted a little bit more show they have that grit that phys physicality that intensity I want to see it a little bit more and sometimes I feel like I don’t see it during this during these type of games when we need it we didn’t have it New York dropped this game to the Utah Jazz again 121 to 106 New York definitely could have won this game it was a winnable game we could have shown out we could have done what we needed to do but we didn’t choose to do that instead we chose to settle for the three allow them to shoot lights out from wherever they wanted to shoot play no defense and we lost the game and that’s it that’s all she wrote and now you saw from the shot chart our defense from the outside our perimeter defense is terrible transition terrible interior terrible we have a what major weakness and that is defense and saying the Knicks have a major problem defensively when your head coach is Tom thibo that’s where I am right now that’s where I am I don’t even know what to say because this is where I am we lost to the Utah Jazz they lost four straight we won four straight we’re a championship Contender they’re nothing make game I don’t like not seeing defense played who wants to watch basketball like that you like like seeing scoring and then another team getting that bucket right back I like seeing defense when we’re stifling people and we’re blowing teams out we’re destroying them that’s what I like to see not the garbage that we saw the amount of penetrations that they had absolutely ridiculous we should be Mo that might pose a different issue you might close the cutting that you have inside as well too not a lot but Mitchell Robinson’s presence down low because of the way they’re going to guard him the way he’s going to be inside he is going to command something there that’s going to clog up the paint it’s going to be less easy for our players to cut inside not impossible just a little bit harder so this something to think about there uh Darlene says I guess they wanted to get back uh get back in the game after falling behind even if that’s the case that’s not the way to do it we know that’s not the way to do it because in the third quarter that’s not how we came back in the game the reason we came back in that third quarter is because we attacked the paint because we were getting stops on defense and making plays in transition that’s how we were doing it that’s all we needed to continue to do when we started going back to shooting threes and settling we lost the game again we let them build back up their lead what was two turned into nine what was nine turned into 18 it was like I looked back at the score and it was 18 Again couldn’t believe it shout out to you darling the meow of Sims and and and Cat you’re not going to try to experiment with Huck py and Cat just give me a few minutes give me five 10 minutes with it to see what it could look like we’re in a blowout game here wouldn’t be mad I really wouldn’t if we played defense and lost that game okay we did our best I really would have been that way it’s the way we lost we didn’t play any defense it’s the way we’re losing we don’t lose like this do we not remember what they used to say about the Knicks last year you don’t want to go up against the Knicks they’re a dirty physical dominant team I haven’t heard that all season long not once not once know what I’ve heard finesse smooth looks good not physical not dominant not lock down defense and definitely not consistency that’s different for this Knicks team you’ve been following thibs you’ve been following this team you understand that defensive level of intensity the defense inside the weakness that we have right now maybe thib’s first year as a coach the very first year that’s the last time I’ve seen it like this where everybody’s still trying to understand where it’s coming from try to put it all together it’s bad it’s very bad uh cpdr says life is too short brush it off I’m honestly not surprised because we haven’t beaten anyone over 500 I don’t get caught with the KD Le Suns we are mediocre we’re playing like it CP we’re playing like it absolutely are especially when we lose games to Utah lose games to Utah lose games to Houston all the good we do for this team all the good we do with some of these wins we throw it all down the drain when you lose like this it’s embarrassing what an embarrassing loss everybody should feel embarrassed I definitely do I’m very much embarrassed mowa wisdom says as an athlete in High School Troy even though I have some losses I use it as a way to be even more hungry for the next and win it all it’s all about having good spirit at the end of the day no absolutely you’re right I get it and trust me in the moment during this post game you’re going to see this raw reaction the game just happened and my emotions are always on my chest I’m not gonna hide it away I’m not going to put it away that’s not what I’m going to do the professional Troy you want him the video tomorrow is going to have more of that they’ll have all that stuff there for you you’re going to get that right absolutely but these post games I like them to be a little bit more emotional filled a little bit more raw because this is me this is how I feel right now when I turn off the stream and I call my friend I’m yeah Mel did great on defense though no he didn’t no he did not why didn’t he play in the fourth why did campaign play explain it because his defense was good no it’s because when campaign came in there we saw the defense get better everybody did you watch the game today that’s the truth of the matter is when Sims and Payne were inserted into the game the defense got better plain and simple that’s just what it is hate it or love it uh let’s see here jaw says we had a two day break there is no excuse for the Knicks to lose to a bottom dwelling team like the Jazz our defensive level needs to see major changes it does it’s an embarrassment absolute embarrassment how do we lose like that how do we lose a they’re a playing team we’re a championship contender we lose to the Utah Jazz it’s ridiculous uh Yuri says am I really going to have to wait till Mitch and presses to actually see defense I hope not because we can play it we clearly can play defense it’s just not consistent go back and watch the third quarter go back when we made our run we got defensive stops half of those are made by Josh har and ogn and Obi we play defense it’s just not consistent it’s never consistent when defense and brought us back into the game and tibs bench them and put back players who gave the Jazz the double digit lead thibs don’t uh like an experienced coach I appreciate you Patrick thank you so much for your comment clearly you have the same feelings as I do tonight you are upset like I am I’m not going to put it all on the coach although I do think coaching is an issue I do think adjustments are an issue but there’s also a major problem here regardless of any adjustments that we make if we cannot play defense consistently for 48 minutes with any roster that we have the only way we can win games is by offense and yeah maybe some nights against the bad teams you’ll win but against any average to moderate to good team you’re likely going to lose that game because no matter what you do you can never outshoot a team that you don’t defend ever and allowing a team like the Utah Jazz one of the worst teams in the league to shoot 50% from the field and 55% from three to outrebound you when you don’t pass the ball enough we got under 20 we got 20 assists tonight not even 30 normally when we’re winning games we’re getting over 30 assists so that didn’t happen all of those things together and were missing shots taking 51 three-pointers and missing nearly all of them 17 of them made for 33% all of that is a recipe for disaster failure and a loss what happened we lost embarrassment embarrassing as a fan as a player as anybody who looked at partic ipated or was involved in this game today on the Nick side you should be embarrassed it was embarrassing to watch Proby embarrassing to play and now embarrassing to have to think about waiting all the way till Monday till we Face the Denver Nuggets but that’s exactly what we have to go through defense has absolutely been shown tonight as the main major weakness for the Knicks and if we don’t fix our defensive issues ladies and gentlemen we are not going to be that Championship caliber team come June
