ladies and gentlemen merry Christmas happy holidays to everybody as the York Knicks face the San Antonio Spurs at Madison Square Garden ladies and gentlemen this should be a good basketball game should be a very good basketball game I tell you what the San Antonio Spurs nothing to sniff at nothing to sniff at they’re 15 to 14 on the season and classic Greg papovich fashion Greg papovich style he’s building a basketball team in San Antonio Chris Paul Harrison Barnes veteran leadership added to that lineup around Victor wanana and those young guys Deon Vel those young guys they have over there and they’re building a decent basketball team uh the Knicks listen the Knicks frequently play the Spurs at noon and in Madison Square Garden and they haven’t always faed that well now I know this is a uh different basketball team for the Knicks and the Spurs but it hasn’t always fared well for the Knicks in a matina day show against the San Antonio Spurs we’ve got to change that today we cannot lose at home with a good basketball team like the New York Knicks we cannot lose at home to the San Antonio Spurs on Christmas in front of the world like this like Christmas time Christmas day is is basically the time when the NBA introduces themselves to everybody for the season right you know like like this is their this is the the Showcase moment for the NBA so you know it’s coming out party for the NBA for the most part on Christmas Day so you know the Knicks can’t lose they got to win the Knicks won four in a row they’re 19- 10 on the season right now third in the Eastern Conference just three games behind the Boston Celtics six and a half games behind the Cleveland Cavaliers who are zooming through the first half of the Season ladies and gentlemen they’ve won five straight but the Knicks are as hot as any team in the NBA right now as hot as any team in the NBA one of the things that I’ve been calling for for the New York Nick ladies and gentlemen it’s for their defense to step up and it has for this month of December at least the Knicks defense they showed it on The Telecast the other day the Knicks had like a 102 Point whatever defensive rating I’m going to look it up right now in the month of December and ladies and gentlemen I mean that’s the type of it’s going to stay there I don’t know you know you got to look at the competition that the Knicks have been playing in December but it is encouraging that the Knicks defense is climbing with the top 10 offense top five top three top two number one offense in the NBA top 10 defense this team is already dangerous will be more dangerous ladies and gentlemen right now the Knicks are 14th in the NBA with a 112.5 defensive rating now over the last 10 games the ncks have a 105.7 defensive rating with it which is fourth in the NBA and and guess what they’re 8-2 during that time you know this team and now they’re getting pie is back precious is back Landry is back he didn’t play and we’ll see when he’s going to play you know how is he going to fit with this basketball you know how is he going to fit where is he going to fit we’ll see in due time how how and where he fits with the team you know I mean but then now the team is getting deeper they’re getting some of their defensive pieces back when Mitchell Robinson comes back we’ll see the way that lineup goes and the way that that lineup works when mitel Robinson comes back but the team is beginning to round into shape now the San Antonio Spurs they’re 17th in the NBA in defensive rating right now right that’s overall for the season in the last 10 games uh the San Antonio Spurs are 23rd in the NBA right so they’re they’re not a great defensive team they’re young team they’re a learning team they can be a dangerous team all right you can you can you can bet your bottom dollar that they’re disciplined you got Chris Paul there you got Greg papovich there they’re going to be a disciplined basketball team right they’re going to make you know a couple of years ago when the Nicks played the Spurs Spurs weren’t that really you know they were young and they weren’t really disciplined like that now they’re a disciplined team as much as they can be right now being a young team so this should be a good matchup very good match up fun to watch Chris Paul vers Jaylen Brunson Victor wanana vers Carl Anthony towns should be a fun matchup weeds of this basketball game all right let’s the injury report for the San Antonio Spurs they seem to be pretty clean coming in healthy who wouldn’t be coming in healthy to Madison Square Garden on Christmas day you know you got your whole family here you’re going to play the basketball game and then go on and enjoy the rest of the day with your family you know what I mean so yeah everyone’s going to be healthy coming into the Garden on Christmas Day I would be I’d make sure of it somehow some way I’d be healthy you better believe that you know now for the Knicks obviously we know Mitchell Robinson is out all right and you know it’s been like that for the for the season and it’ll be like that for a while okay be like that for a while uh and and and you see here according to Shams you know it’s going to be like late January you know you know the thing about the thing about Mel Robinson coming back in late January then it’s going to be another month before he’s even you know I mean he’ll come back you know Tom Tibido is going to want him to get on the court practice all of those type of things and then you know was just see the court February you know I mean and the dog days of the Season you know the Knicks at that point would have really been deep into their rotation you know it’s going to be we’ll see I don’t know we’ll see Kevin you said Mitch’s days is are numbered as a Nick I kind I I I want to see what the Knicks look like with Mitchell Robinson out there pre is doing a great job uh you know is he going to be able to come in and take Precious as minutes I don’t know not not once you solidify your rotation I don’t know you know what I mean now what I like to see I I want to see what Mitch looks like backing up cat the lineup would I don’t know if it would switch now but the lineup could you know I was talking with Tony the other day and and having Josh Hart uh having precious and Mitch on the floor at the same time off the bench eh I don’t know how much I like that defensively it could be good but you know offensively it sucks you know what I mean so I don’t know you know Josh Hart with that second unit would look better and precious in the starting unit that would probably look better and and and and the lineup would be more well-rounded but you can also accomplish that through a good substitution pattern so we’ll see we we’ll we’ll see how that goes you know I mean um you know will Mitch end up being traded from this basketball team well you know I don’t know I don’t know we’ll see but he’s out right now until late January um probably February and you know but we’re we’re rocking the rolling man I just seen someone put in the chat that were 14 and four in the last 18 games I mean you know that’s Andrew said with 144 in the last 18 and and the Knicks defense is picking up the offense has remained steady you know uh how much better does he make the Knicks I you know I one can say he makes the Knicks a lot better um or not I I I don’t know how much better he makes the Knicks but I can tell you this right now the Knicks are really really good and with their defense coming on they’re going to be even better and they’re getting better you know or you know we win this game finish December strong finish the year strong you know we win tonight 20 and 10 wi today 20 and 10 beat Washington twice N DC leave out of the Year 22- 10 12 games above 500 and I think the Knicks will do it when the last time we’ve been 12 games above 500 to finish the year it’s been a while that’s what I’m expecting from this basketball team right now that’s what I’m expecting from the team but anyway let’s keep getting into the game ladies and gentlemen the Knicks Mitchell Robinson is out uh the San Antonio Spurs are healthy for today which you know listen they’re a good basketball team you know we can’t take anything for granted with this with the San Antonio Spurs we can’t just think we’re going to come in and win you know they um I seen someone in the chat say that Chris Paul has settled him down yes that’s what Chris Paul does now you notice man Chris Paul anytime Chris Paul goes to a basketball team he changes the trajectory of that team he turns that team into a playoff team right now the San Antonio Spurs are playing they’re in the playing 15 and 14 they’re in the playing uh they are currently ninth in the Western Conference only a game and a half out of that six speed six seed and I would not put it past the Spurs to jump over the Lakers to jump over the Warriors jump over the Lakers and the Clippers and get into that six seed just a game and a half back as the season goes on they’re going to get better they’re going to get stronger um you know right now you know they they’ve lost they’re five and five in their last 10 games they’re mediocre team but they’re better way better than they’ve been over the last couple of years CU they’ve been so young over the last couple of years you know they’re going to be looking to come into the garden and win you know Chris Paul is going to have those guys ready to go Greg papovich is going to have those guys ready to go and I know there’s a lot of people out there waiting for the postgame show they so so they can say s great pop out coach Tom Tibido see how this game goes but I think the Nicks have too much talent uh they should win this basketball game it’s not going to be easy but they should win the game let me get to a phone call real quick call your live name him where you from please hey hello s how are you doing long time Haven your Knicks way back in 99 so I just you know I want to get some some Revenge to some degree whenever the Nick play so so so we’re trying to get revenge from 99 we had a lot years every year he ribs it in you know so I just like to get the win so he I can [ __ ] him up you know he he’ll never let me live there in 1999 it sucks and that yeah lot of years passed since 1999 but hey never too late to get revenge Never To Late whenever we get it win it feels good you know at least it shuts him up for that one day you know he just never stops talking about it and you know he has the ring to unfortunately so so that part is suck but I tell them now that we’re going to catch up we have a great team now this year just first time in a long time it feels that we’re like an elite team you know it’s starting to feel like and we went had a long time ago during like the mid to late 90s we’re starting to get back to that level do you feel like that right now oh definitely we’re getting back to that level uh we have a team that is um we have a team that has time to grow together right so they they don’t they don’t uh it’s not like we’re going to see a lot of turnover like when Melo was here they never really put a team that was going to grow with him Melo came at 28 years old we had four or five years in melo’s Prime there was never a team that was going to grow with him right J.R Smith was here I guess they tried with J.R Smith and Amari right and maybe Raymond Felton but it didn’t materialize this is a team right now contract wise um age wise that can grow so over the next 5 years you have a team that can really um I don’t know what the word I want to use but I’m going make one up they can veteran IE together you know what I’m saying right now they’re young vets in the NBA they can veteran IE together and become a grizzled strong tough grizzled basketball team that just knows how to win right and so they’re in a position to be able to do that the Knicks should be in the position to be able to pay these players uh so that we can have some uh longstanding stability winning stability with this basketball team and the front off like you said I feel like they can grow together like you know I would say mature you know get their experience and and they’re also par about we have all these guys in their Prime D brunson’s in his prime cat is in his prime right now they’re all just ready to take off this is like the perfect timing and you know you look at cat like Julius is a good player I appreciate what he did fin this but cat is a great player you can see the difference when he’s playing on the court like you know now we have the lexury when Jaylen has a bad game cat can pick it up and vice versa we didn’t have that before that to me is like one of the best things about this right right and and and the team is you know they’re not going to if someone’s having a hot game they’re going to let that person have a hot game you know people aren’t going to step in and and and feel like they’ve got to take over or or do anything of the such you know what I mean so you know they’re very unselfish team which which is um you see it in you know the assist that they get and and all that kind of stuff but hey yeah I agree they’re just always looking to get the the right guy going and it’s like everybody can have their night and no one’s selfish about it they celebrate each other which is great that’s kind of like a winning mentality that you don’t care who’s the star that night you know that which I enjoy watching right and just even our our role players are great like Bridges OG just they can go off on any night Josh H and then the thing that’s that just caps it off is like both jayen bson and Cat are playing like MVPs this year when you look at their numbers it’s just it’s just amazing man it is it is it is you know cat’s really coming into his own uh you know you talk about it being the beginning of his prime you know you’re seeing you we’re seeing it materialize in front of our eyes yeah I think like he has some motivation you know just I think the straight L fire underneath him because you could tell that he was upset about getting traded and he wants to Pro something which is great for us Nick fans because he’s I think he’s having the best year of his career like he’s leading the league in rebounds and I think this trade did that to him you know because he wanted to show people that he’s a legit star and people are not respecting him in Minnesota he thought he was just some second R player and he wants to and he wants to prove to Nicks fans that you know he’s tough and he can he can handle New York yeah yeah you could see that like to me like just that transition is one of the best transitions I’ve seen for player tras and Knicks usually a lot of guys they take some time to adjust I remember even during the 90s when we got Allen Houston LJ they became great contributors but it took them some time a can’t just from day one just just took it and ran with it just to me I’m just kind of shocked by that yeah yeah I I’m loving it I’m loving it I’m loving it no doubt but hey my man enjoy the game enjoy your today because it’s going to get eyes watching but the Knicks are you know Garden’s going to be crazy especially if it’s a good game you said that you think they went big it it might be a good basketball game you know what I mean and and I’m ready for some heroics that’s what I want to see let’s take a look at the lineups ladies and gentlemen for the Knicks you know the lineup Jaylen Brunson Josh har Macau Bridges OG anobi and Carl Anthony towns starting lineup for the New York Knicks for the San Antonio Spurs you got the veteran point guard Chris Paul the veteran point guard Chris Paul I’m going tell you what I would have loved to have Chris Paul backing up jayen Brunson on this basketball team I’m not saying anything about Duce or anyone else or campaign you know I love those guys and what they do for this team but if you if just imagine having Chris Paul backing up being your backup point guard on this basketball team you know the leadership that comes with it now you know everyone knows the stories about Chris Paul and you know uh uh his relationship with some players and stuff like that how much would that have coming to play I don’t know but he would have been a great backup for this basketball team but you know he chose a starting spot in San Antonio it’s working out and I wouldn’t be surprised to see in a year or two this team pack the championship contention really Devon Vel is starting shooting guard for the San Antonio Spurs Jeremy so Sohan is starting small forward Harrison Barnes at the power forward spot and Victor wanana the young star the young French star at the center spot you know some there’s some really really good matchups with this lineup really good matchups with this lineup I mean of course you got number one you got Chris Paul and Jaylen Brunson um that’s a great matchup Chris Paul you know he’s lost a step defensively I think but he’s still a good Defender he’s lost a step but he’s still a decent Defender Jaylen Brunson should still be able to have his way see the thing about the Knicks it used to be that you could put put you know your best defensive player on Brunson right the you know the the longer player whatever on Brunson and and and and you would have somebody out there that maybe you say well we could put this guy who’s not that good of a defender on whoever because they can’t score precious or something like that not now not with this lineup right everybody can get a bucket so you can say all right well you know they might choose to put Chris Paul on Josh Hart because he’s the least talented offensively but he still can get you 14 points a game he still can knock down at three still can go Coast to Coast maybe they put Devon fael on jayen Brunson we’ll see what pop I don’t know we’ll see what pop decides to do there pop is a is is is a genius when when it comes to basketball adjustments and basketball matchups and those type of things but I’m expecting it to be Chris Paul and Jaylen Brunson Devin Vel and Josh har it could be Vel on Brunson and Chris Paul on Josh harp we’ll see how you know we’ll see that where that ends up so h on maau Bridges Harrison Barnes and ogan noi and then of course you got Victor wanana and Carl Anthony towns like Victor and Carl that’s going to be a a very very fun matchup to watch I’m going to enjoy that one like that’s the matchup of the night in my opinion no doubt I mean that’s the match up of Theon night you know OG and Harrison Barnes um OG’s younger obviously Harrison Barnes you know Harrison Barnes is just a grizzled veteran a Grizzle veteran in the NBA that knows how to get it done that knows what to do you know I mean OG is getting to that point you know but you know he’s a guy that can get you 20 on any given night obviously Chris Paul can Victor wanana can that’s a fun matchup there I mean every single matchup in this lineup I think is a fun matchup to watch that’s what makes this game so bad so good right there’s a lot of fun matchups to watch in this starting lineup but of course Carl Anthony towns and Victor Wana that’s the that’s the big match up there you know what I mean that’s the big match up has definitely been hooping um but you know a couple weeks ago he was benched in the fourth quarter for Deuce you know he was he he was benched in the forth F deuce and and and and I don’t know if I was calling for Deuce over him but I was wondering if that’s something that was going to happen at that time you know what I mean um but hey you know he he he found he’s finding his rhythm you know the one thing like I told Tony before with Bridges is is is I feel that Bridges is a system player and one of the one of the biggest ways in my opinion that you can see that a player is assistant players is the amount of free throws they get right and when I say he’s assistant player you know I’m not saying that in a bad way I’m just saying you know he relies on the system uh to create open opportunities for him right he’s going to cut to the basket receive the pass he’s going to get kickouts um every once in a while he he’ll be able to attack the closeth out know guys like Brunson and Carl Anthony towns they’re going to put pressure on the defense that’s why they get fouled and go to the line Bridges doesn’t put pressure on the defense himself he relies on towns or Brunson or whoever to put pressure on the defense and then he gets his but he does this at a very high level and he’s also able to get into the passing Lane and get steals he’s a good Defender so on and so forth uh for a little while he wasn’t doing it he wasn’t doing it because he wasn’t in rhythm with the system yet now it’s like he’s starting to get in rhythm with the system understand where his shots are coming from um people you know the team understanding where he’s supposed to get his shots and all of that so he’s more comfortable the rhythm is coming and we’re seeing what he’s doing right now you know what I mean and hopefully he continues to do what he’s doing so that the you know because that’s how the Knicks are going to be the best versions of themselves one of the ways right it’s for M Bridges to continue to step up and and and be who he can be with this basketball team and then of course we got oan and Obi being who he is and having one of one of if not the best season of his career but let’s get back to these matchups ladies and Gentlemen let’s get back to these matchups here because um the thing with this Carl Anthony towns a Victor not it’s not just an intriguing match up you I mean you know Vicor we minana is is almost a replica if you want to say of Carl Anthony towns more blocks though he just had eight blocks against Philadelphia they lost 111 to 106 but he had eight blocks 26 points nine rebounds four assist eight blocks right so you know when we come into the paint tonight OG Bridges Josh Hart come in looking to dunk the ball right come in looking to throw it down on Victor wanana make him have to foul you now he may not spend as much time in the paint we’re going to see what kind of defensive matchups uh papovich uses but when you look at the next lineup you know whoever he got he’s got to guard Carl Anthony towns Carl Anthony towns should be able to pull Victor wanana out the paint right now you know we’ll see what pop does if he wants to keep Victor in the paint he’ll utilize his own but if his manto man Carl Anthony Town should pull him out the paint so it should still open up those lanes for Jaylen Brunson uh for Bridges to get you know cuts and slices to the Lane for OG to catch you know back door dunks or whatever it is so it should still open up that way and be able to limit Victor wanana from getting eight blocks but if you see him there OG he can get up go at the dude okay if you get blocked you get blocked make a foul you you know what I’m saying you get Victor W Bana foul trouble now they’re going to struggle a little bit they still got these vets out there with Chris Ball and Harrison Barn so you know that’s they got some good guys but he’s he’s he’s the crust of the team he’s the crust of the team you know what I mean uh I would like to see I I don’t know it might be tough we’ll see Carl Anthony towns maybe post him up a little bit see if you can get him in a little bit of foul trouble uh instead of I’m I’m not upset at Carl Anthony towns was shooting threes I’m just saying you know if you can get Victor in some foul trouble now Victor May block your shot too you have to be okay with that you have to be okay with that you know um I think I think uh uh you know Chris Paul’s not the same guy defensively getting Brunson in situations where he can go at Chris Paul get him in a little bit of foul trouble get him get get the leader out the game too right get the leader out the game make him have to sit down you now who’s now who’s out there see like we said ear earlier Chris Paul has settled this team down you get Chris Paul in a little bit of foul trouble he also has a you know he he gets he can get a little frustrated too you know may maybe now you throw this team off and and and they don’t have the same composure that they’ve been having throughout this season they don’t have that strong of a bench Trey Trey Jones Kellin Johnson Julian champagne Stefon Castle Charles Bassie you know I mean they’re decent but I don’t know how strong it is I think Julian champagne had 15 points eight rebounds the other night ston Castle had 17 points three rebounds they can you know I mean that’s 32 points right there off the bench 38 points Off the Bench the other night but I don’t think their bench should be as good as our bench you know campaign’s been balling Deuces been balling precious has had 10 the game before that yeah yeah we had 18 in the last two games yeah that’s crazy that’s crazy you know so is a good Defender Chris Paul’s a good Defender Barnes is a good Defender you you know what I mean like that’s that’s a solid defensive uh Team I think they just gonna figure it out until end of the season okay so hopefully uh you know we’re not playing them at their Peak right now yeah I I don’t think so I think they’ll get better they’ll keep getting better and and you know they may make some moves later on in the season to um strengthen the bench or they may just say you know we got a young bench let’s Let It Grow I don’t know we’ll see but um you know I mean right now they’re ranked low defensively you know uh and it may be one of the reasons why Victor is able to get so many blocks because they’re letting guys get into the paint but but they’ll figure that part out I think no I agree I think they they’re going to be uh they’re gonna be a different team second half of the year I feel like I mean they’re 15 and 14 now you know what I mean you know with with their defense being rated as low they’re 15 and 14 so um you know if their defense gets better they’re going to get better you know they’re middle of the pack team offensively they’re kind of middle of the pack I think they’re 17th rated defense right now um okay offensively you know kind of middle of the pack pack so they’re middle of the pack team you know but you know leave it to uh pop he’ll figure it out and I do want to say real quick I know you guys see the thing on there that says Channel demon pop keep Victor wanana in the paint that’s easy right unless he plays Zone how do you keep him in the paint you’ve been screaming zone for us so that’s that’s how like yeah Z that’s the only way you know the only way is if he play zone so we’ll see if they play zone to keep W in the paint if not then he’s got a guard he’s only going to be guarding uh cat and cat can step outside you know what I mean you put him on anyone else he’s going to get broken down defensively so you know cat you know C can live outside the three-point line if you need him to and that’s my match up of the game too oh one point yeah I’m pretty sure they will play some Zone at some point the thing is if they do play some Zone the Knicks should have enough three-point shooting to shoot from the outside right and and maybe even take him out of that zone now if the Knicks get one of those kns where they’re not hitting then okay I get that you know what I mean but that’s why it would be crucial for for cat cuz if in the zone cat at the three-point line he can shoot over anybody that’s not wiy right right right now the thing is can can he shoot over wi that’s that’s gonna be and that’s why I was going he has a quick release but not a high release so that’s gonna be an interesting exactly match up exactly you know what I mean because yeah can he shoot over him I know he could get it up quick but he’s he doesn’t have a high release you know what I mean so if it’s going to be interesting yeah I think another key like Doug fresh is saying cat not to get in foul trouble oh absolutely against wmy right we everything back I think in transition especially if if cat would have be in foul trouble or if wm’s in the game and and and Cat’s not in the game transition has got to be a big key right Josh hark getting the ball off the rim and going transition got to be a big game for us uh I think our bench go to our bench needs to take care of business Deuce campaign come in take care of business against
