where’s he on the MVP ladder you had some people laughing at us I don’t think they’re laughing anymore because what you going to hear on the national Airwaves tomorrow is that this guy is in the top know everyone’s gonna look at this about the Randall and the cat comparisons but can we talk about how Carl Anthony towns dismantled the defensive player of the year can we talk about that Rudy goar had no answer for him whatsoever and if you’re if you’re a Timberwolves fan right now you gotta be thinking hey they traded for this guy and they traded cat you gota be feeling pretty bad they went all in on Rudy gobear and N car Anthony towns but Catman holy cow this guy was like for a guy who they weren’t even looking for in the first quarter just to you know they start finding him in the second and the man was just on a tear I mean 10 of 12 as you mentioned gets you what 32 points five of five from downtown 20 rebounds again 20 rebounds in front of Julius and the stifle tower on the court with Randall and Rudy Gober and out rebounds both of them tripled he doubled their rebounds Randall and go combined for nine rebounds Carl Anthony TS at 20 unbelievable bro this is that that this is the MVP type stuff man that you’re look from and then he gets a six assist this is what we were talking about come on man um man come on this is where you you watch Carl Anthony towns and his development of his game man I mean you wasn’t even all week you know whoever was breaking it down about who cat was out in Minnesota you know I was watching the putback with Ian Begley they had John kitki on there man yeah and he was talking about how his physicality has changed that’s the big thing that has changed since leaving Minnesota and you see it man you you just see it the way that he battles I mean even when we talk with Steph Steph said that you noticed that he came correct coming to New York and knowing the mindset that he had to be in the mission that he had to be on and so you just see that through and through with Carl Anthony towns and he is certainly wearing that New York badge right now he knows what he’s he knows wearing the heaviest Jersey possible in the league and he’s delivering on a night to night basis I mean the fact that you go out there and not only do you dismantle the defensive player of the year not only do you serve it back to the team that traded you right you’re doing it against a guy that you know there’s been a lot of conversation of who would you rather keep during this trade all right we’ve had that discussion here on K on kftv and Carl Anthony towns man showing why he is top dog man and the Nick man looking looking good on this side of the bar on the deal right now because without him this offense is not Quicken this was legit man this was legit and like you said you know John crosy the guy the the beat Rider who knows him the best even said he’s playing more physical and with this team coming in here he had to you have no Julius you have no Mitch you have no iHeart you know you got to go out there and bang you got to get do the dirty work as well as as as well well as as uh hit your outside shots man 20 rebounds he’s leading the league in rebounds right now rebounding rate he’s at the top of the league that is he he’s a monster right now and the way he started off this game they I mean to show you the respect level to show you the respect level you had Brunson out there you had OG maau who you got to respect from three they were doubling Carl Anthony towns out the gate out the gate and immediately he had a couple turnovers early you know everybody was trying to find their find their footing but he had some nice dimes to mcau Bridges he dimed up Macau Bridges like three times in this game and he settled it he took two shots in the first quarter bro but I thought the second quarter when things really started to to to break open I mean the Knicks out scored the Minnesota Timberwolves 41-8 this was a Timberwolves defense that as of late was redot was red hot and I don’t know like what’s more impressive they dropped the 41 in the second or they dropped 27 of the 41 with Brunson on the bench and I thought that was a good job by by maau Bridges and the Nick guards in campaig and du McBride campaign in particular pushing the pace up he starts getting it going you know when campaign lets it Fly that he he he’s locked and loaded right Deuce but I thought maau Bridges man I thought maau Bridges cat is going to be the story but maau Bridges was was vital to this Victory with no Josh Hart and um and Jaylen being slowed down by the Minnesota defense Macau Bridges was lights out 29 Points six rebounds six assists and him along with K had a monster second quarter bro look uh Stan Van guny said it right on the broadcast all the new guys played well tonight even though you know the Timberwolves didn’t the team for the most part itself was lack Wester Julia showed up Bridges showed up cat showed up tonight um but without Macau Bridges tonight I mean he was he was red hot from the he was red hot from the start okay and the way that he he too was Surgical and how he was dissecting this t- wolves defense I mean getting to the mid-range just moving off ball you know when his Defenders AR even paying attention he’s just shading over a little bit to the left to the right and getting open threes yeah right how about the pass from Brunson to him just cutting down the lane moving in transition it’s stuff like that for Bridges where you know yes he can create his own shot and we’re seeing him now get into a rhythm and him now feeling comfortable on this team you see that Swagger for him on the court you know looking over to the bench whether it’s doing his three-point celebration even give you like those puzzle looks like wait is is that me is that me how about the one where he gets fouled and he knocks down the mid-range Jumper in the second quarter you know it’s stuff like that where you start to see him really starting to shine through and it’s just taking a little bit of time for him to get together on offense and I think defensively too man you’re starting to see this guy come alive as well I mean the point of attack defense has been better it’s not what it has been yet when we’ve seen him out in Phoenix since he was out in Phoenix I you could say but his defense is just stepping up too Bridges Carl Anthony towns the two guys is carrying the Knicks to the win I mean look this guy went 12 of 18 from the field four of eight for downtown to get you 29 Points tonight he too got six boards and six assists vital right Bridges was also surgical next to Carl Anthony towns yeah vital man because you know some of those six boards those are heart boards you got to get those heart boards bro you know what I mean so he grabed six we’ll talk about precious who stepped in for hard precious grabbed 10 but you know 12 of 18 from the field four of eight from downtown he continues to have a monster monster month of December is maau Bridges he’s he’s locked in that’s a great sign for this team um I want to see once heart does come back does does does maau continue to stay hot especially with the second unit where he can get more opportunities offensively but to step in with no heart and and Brunson being limited he he he they needed that they were down by seven in this game early they started turning the ball ball over he was a little like eh I’m like I don’t like how this is going Julius starts showing out I thought maau really stabilized things until cat started just going ballistic so that was a great sign I thought I thought the times he defended Anthony Edwards he did a great job as well his defense overall was good that’s a positive sign he had a team High plus 35 tonight you know and and sometimes you you got to take the plus minus with a grain of salt but when you take the number with what you saw on the court you saw it defensively offensively Macau Bridges was great man cat’s the story M Cal Bridges is on point tonight man absolutely and look the thing about bridges is that you know we look at cat and what he did in that second quarter Bridges was consistent throughout every single quarter and what he was providing you and it’s stuff like that where yeah you know you’re going to have guys that are just going to go off in a certain quarter whether it be Brunson cat even sometimes OJ even Bridges himself all these guys can go off but the fact that you could just constantly R it’s like okay it’s not cat Okay bridg is going to come down here he’s going to figure something out whether on off ball and get it done and even with the steals that he was doing man or just causing havoc in the passing Lanes dud was just all over the place he was all over the place tonight man yeah Bridget if he’s going to be playing like this this team is going to take another step is going to take another step in the direction that we want to see when we talk about being ready for Championship contenders if you’re going to have maau Bridges be the two-way force that he has been over the last few games then this team is going to reach other Heights and if you think about when Mitchell Robinson comes back this team is getting poised to to Really you know shake up the league man it’s just like the Milwaukee Bucks right Milwaukee Bucks had you know a tough start to the regular season they win the cup and they’re looking like a different team especially after last season two yeah Nicks you know we’re talking about an uneven start but now it seems like they’re starting to get their footing man it’s but this is the thing we saw some two solid games right I mean they had a lot of time to rest recover and get ready for this game against Minnesota and you better believe that they had this thing marked all right they went into this game know cat’s gonna be home you know they know what Randle was going to come through same thing with Dante we already know what the preseason game was about yeah so they had enough time to Circle this game and get ready for it now as a Seasons game back into this every other night or you only have like one two nights off now is the time to build off that this type of production because we’ve seen it against we’ve seen it we’ve seen this before where you come out and you can demolish the Orlando Magic we’ve seen this where you come out and demolish the Denver Nuggets but you can’t come out and give us a let down game and be like now we’re going back to square one over again it seems like they’re getting on that square footing man that right footing I should say but they just got to keep moving forward so lute everybody in the chat once again man hit we talk about bridges but one of my concerns for tonight’s game was going to be this Nicks defense going up against Minnesota um Julius and ant and Minnesota can shoot the three ball um Nas Reed the B the battle of the benches but I think we could look to that defense defensive performance and give a game ball to the Knicks defense just as much as we can to cat and the Cal Bridges because they were the aggressiv tonight on the defensive end they slowed down Anthony Edwards they knew julius’s every move they knew every weakness Al you knew the spin over was coming once or twice so as soon as he took the spin move and committed you send two on the ball and you’re going to get rewarded we know julius’s weakness sorry Randall Hive I’m sorry I gotta get in my Petty bag but we know his weakness so they able to so they’re able to force uh 15 sorry 13 minutes so to turn turnovers like the 16 Nick points and despite the Nick’s early turnovers they were able to kind of you know hit that cruising altitude and just keep this these guys at Bay but it was the Nick’s defense that were the aggressors tonight it was causing the turnover getting in the passing Lanes you know it’s this is where the this is where I have so many questions about the defense man because on some nights they look like oh wow we can stop lot of players and on other nights it’s like oh it’s nonexistent yeah yeah so it’s look for this defense is all about effort man and you know tibs has already uh switched it where instead of playing drop when cat’s out there he’s keeping them at the level you know just because he doesn’t have the recovery speed and look man the qu it’s always going to be questioned this defense will always be in question until Mitchell Robinson gets back yeah because we don’t know what it will fully look like or until they or they make a trade we don’t know which what direction the Knicks want to do we see that Mitchell Robinson is working to come back but I think when you watch this defense and you start to see the effort it like the whole point is on the perimeter can this team get the stops in order to mask the weakness for what Brunson and Cat are um tonight was a different look though we didn’t have Josh Hart so we didn’t have the three wings but we did get a power forward out there it was a very traditional lineup right and so and so so maybe this is something that tibs is going to look at even more after a night like tonight because they had Precious on Randall to start even though Randall was you know getting going early this defense did start to pick up and even when you look at the second quarter you know you talked about Brunson sitting out for a bit McBride was in there yeah right yeah and if you’re G to get production like you got from Macau tonight then you can give Brunson a rest and then you can really get you can sh up the defense even with cat out there if you’re going to have McBride at the your point of attack defense so this is this is where you know as more and more this team becomes comfortable they start to figure things out then you offer Tom Tibido a little bit more flexibility in the various lineups that he can throw out there and then you can start to sh up the defense based on the matchup and tonight it worked for that especially where you didn’t really need Brunson that much you could rely on cat you could rely on Bridges you had OG out there you throw McBride you throw Campa out there guys who want to compete on that end of the ball yeah on that end of the court I should say and look what you have man your defense starts to look powerful unlike having to like unlike other nights where you have to rely on Brunson and Cat in that starting rotation playing majority of the minutes yeah the defense definitely balled out and uh and came to play and as as you mentioned um precious and trua did get the start in place of um Josh har who was out for personal reasons and you know it was kind of like a byproduct of of missing Hart like you said allowed the Knicks to match up big and so because another one of the concerns I had coming into this game was OG having to guard Julius primarily if you’re going to start Hart because you had to figure that you know one of hard or Bridges was going to get the Edwards assignment and then the other was going to have to guard um Jaden McDaniels Jen McDaniels damn near 10 so the precious thing allow the heart situation allowed precious to take on the Julius assignment now you’re able to have OG either taking on McDaniels or Edwards in his more natural defensive role and I thought that helped do you think this the conversation of this precious get into that start rotation I see some people in the chat right now they say they like Precious in the starting rotation plan in the four have cat the five obviously Brunson being your starter it’s this is as I know it’s one team it’s a small samp it’s a really really small sample size because it’s one game against a team where it matches up well because Randall is a tradition traditional power forward you had a traditional big in Rudy go bear so for a night like tonight it worked yeah but how often are you going to that lineup right now because even though you can have Josh Hart’s start tibs could easily you know finagle with the rotations and throw this out even sooner if you know the if the normal starting five is it cutting it on a certain night I mean and and we’re going to get to calls in in just a second but but uh I’ll I’ll wrap that with this I have a hard time seeing tibs ever taking Josh hard of that starting lineup you know um certainly you want to see him be able to utilize multiple looks and he has he has played uh precious in towns together he has gone that way since Precious has come back but as far as like starting and stuff now I I don’t see I don’t see them taking heart out of the lineup unless this defense just really you know craters and just never really improves but I don’t see that either I think the defense has been um improving tonight was just one of those nights where the matchup lent itself uh to a favorable um you know Nick’s outcome and and good matchups good matchups overall for Nicks defensively so I mean just good job just I mean I I just they just have to be thankful just to have precious as part of that depth he was great tonight he had a double double tonight 13 points 10 rebounds how about the how about the dime he had in transition to Macau Bridget that little ra around joint I threw the magic meme out there you know the magic team that’s going to handcuff them from truly reaching uh their goals is because you just have too much dominance between uh Edwards and Julius too much my turn your turn but we’ve seen that we’ve seen that story before here with Julius but I I thought Jamal Crawford really really uh packaged up th this trade and and where these two guys are going on The Telecast because when I did the pregame show today my first key was going to be who was going to win like that emotional battle like how are their emotions from this trade going to wear on towns wear on Julius how is it going to impact them especially after the gates with all the all the energy and all of that and Jamal Crawford said it best he said you know Julius came out hot he came out fire and he wanted to punch them in the mouth and he wanted to score but he wors hard on his sleeve he said Carl Anthony towns made the plays that he needed to make to win the game that was the difference between the two guys tonight and you saw it you saw it towns was very patient especially in the first quarter the doubles were coming quick decisions took two shots it wasn’t like oh man I’m back I got to get it going let the game come to him but when it did in the second quarter that boy abused Rudy goair I mean he took the belt off and just yo can we get r i mean Rudy Gober I for a guy who’s won defensive player of the year so many times man he I don’t know how he continues to win it man this is a guy who gets played off the court in postseason we saw it in the Olympics he was a non-factor for Team France I I am just man thank God I’m not the team that paid all so many draft pi and gave up players to get Rudy go on my squad good Lord but when you look at this Timberwolves team too and not to Deep dive too much into them but it’s like you talked about not having a point guard it’s just weird all around this roster is not really ready to just take any step they obviously reshuffle the deck after they traded Carl Anthony towns the offense just stinks man I mean that there’s a reason why when you look at the offensive rating for this team they’re in the basement and it’s not just you know we get what because we’ve seen it but even last year with the ball Domin between Randall and Brunson even in years’s past it’s always been a top 10 offense watching this team for this team they don’t have anything else outside of far as longevity what are we gonna do with that bench because you know we saw last year we had a we had a good team last year you know it wasn’t it wasn’t you know on paper as as good as it is this year yeah but uh longevity what do we do without a solid bench and I don’t even know if we have a solid bench because you know Tom Tibido is is very uh greedy sometimes yeah he’s a great coach but sometimes he doesn’t put in that bench as much to you know get them adjusted to the game so I feel like without having that bench in the game it might affect us when it comes to playoff time you know we don’t want to Tire these guys out like we did last year yeah no I agree with you wholeheartedly man appreciate the co team man he said I thre Tomatoes at but but um you know Al I think I I was talking about it on the show today I think the the near-term Edition will likely be Al Landry shamut they probably get rid of Matt Ryan they set up the whole shamut play when he when he hurt his shoulder to put him in the g-league save that money and then have the money to bring him back and then as Ian Begley said earlier today they can put Matt Ryan back on a two-way so they don’t lose him I think that’s the earliest thing that they do and then if they make a move at the deadline it’s hard you know it’s hard to see like because they don’t have that much money to to deal with so it’s not like you they don’t have money they don’t really have the like a lot of options in who they have to who they want to trade right I mean you see Jericho Sims as is out there he’s making like two million you got Mitch who’s making 14 you know you got precious out there as well I think precious is making six but it’s like there’s not really a lot of options for guys who are making that same type of money to make sure that the Knicks because the Knicks would have to Knicks would have to send out more and not take on more right they’d have to S take out send out more take out less working that five million like four or five million dollar like uh cap wiggle room for trades um I just don’t know where they were going to go I feel like I feel like a lot of is going to be done in this year I think a lot of it I think after all the trades that they made a lot of it has to be sou searching on saying all right what can this team do for this season with the with the with the tools that we have accessible and then retool this off season you can always go to the buyout Market they can certainly be buyers on the buyout market and that’s probably what they would do because someone’s already else has paid most of that money they can pay a little bit and keep themselves under that second apron that I can see them doing making a trade unless they have like a really good shot at something I don’t see them making and by shot I mean they have to know that like all right if we make this trade right now we can go further than the ECF or we got a really good chance of going to the finals this year I don’t see them doing that I see them just working with what they have and then evaluating for this offseason and then making the moves because I think part of it too like you don’t want to get rid of guys that you haven’t fully evaluated yet like I think they still want to see if Mitchell Robinson comes back back what type of impact he can make I don’t think they want to just be quick sellers on him even though he’s been so injury-prone I do think they want to see what he can offer this team so I think they’re going to stand Pat for most of the season if they do anything minor like I said it’s the buyout market and then do something this upcoming off season to make changes yeah I agree with you 100% I think it’ll come down to like if there’s a deal that they really um you know have to make where where they end up parting with with a precious or a cam or maybe a Mitra like I think it has to be something really substantial but it’s hard to imagine what that could be uh so like it’s just like you said they will likely bring the shamet in you hope for continued improvements and see where it is from there and you evaluate from there but I also think that’s why it’s important for a guy like maau Bridges to show out with that second unit like if if he can if he can be the guy that can Elevate that group I think that would be a major win for them and and we I got to check the numbers maybe it’s on PBP stats but what are his numbers when he’s not on the court with Josh Hart you know is there something there where because you know Josh Hart is going to command a lot of usage cat commands a lot of usage Brunson is the point guard naturally usage so in that in that starting five where he’s more off ball catch and shoots yeah I’ll cut to the basket and get some get some opportunities but if he’s out there staggered with the second unit he can really run it I think they would have to hope for that they got just got to figure out how to make bridges like that focal point for the second unit man yeah and just like let him do that because as we saw tonight no Josh Hart goes out there looks comfortable in that third role does a lot of things not necessar does exactly what Josh Hart does but there was like there was a space there was a void that needed to be you know filled and he did that so it’s how do you maximize a player and making sure that they get to feel you know utilized to their strengths and tonight was one of those games for Bridges so now it’s like for tibs all right you take this footage you say let’s go back what did he do well what into this game the rate at which he was rebounding uh the goar match up I knew he was going to space the floor and and force goar to guard him and that was going to be a place that goar did not want to be and that was light workor man for me and plus the assists he was averaging like 4.8 assists in his last few games so he was just on a roll he finished with 53 so he busted that open by 13 and a half um Randall I thought the Randall number on underdog tonight was very low it was at 192 I said that’s definitely a high I’m playing the emotions Factor I’m playing the Julius Factor he’s still a good score he’s averaging 20 points per game um he had 24 tonight and most of that came in the first half of damage I went with Jaylen Brunson a lot of fans did not like this I went with Brunson lower than 34 and a half points rebounds and assists you would think that is low uh but Minnesota had been guarding opposing point guards very well opposing point guards struggle against Minnesota and I thought with Brunson taking the with with Jaden McDaniels taking on that assignment I thought Brunson was going to have a hard time either McDaniels or maybe Anthony Edwards like Minnesota’s their perimeter defense especially against opposing guards is good and I thought that was going to limit Jaylen Brunson tonight and he finished with 24 points rebounds and assists now a lot of that was because um of the blowout but also he wasn’t trending well in this game he went what like five for 15 so that was that with J Brunson and then the last pick I had um which I thought was ridiculously high was Jaylen Suggs 20 points against the OKC Thunder and okay with OKC’s defense magic at home and Jaylen Suggs having a man that offense and a brutal shooter now he did end up getting hurt in this game and having to leave the game early but I just didn’t see this one I thought that number was too high I went lower on that one and I got that so I put up 20 bucks on the ticket I won 20 $100
