[Music] after a pretty rough past week a majority of the Laker fan base has called for them to make a trade and while some people think they should make a trade for one kind of player whether that be by skill set or position it might be a center in some people’s eyes it might be a wing player it might even be a guard who knows a majority of us would agree that should revolve around defense as of right now they currently lack Defenders and really two-way players if you ask me they have both a few good Defenders and plenty of offensive talent but not many guys that do both apart from Anthony Davis they don’t really have a true two-way player cam Reddit can sometimes do that for them chrisy could eventually become that for them can sometimes do it but not very often they were hoping Kate Vincent could be that for them but that unfortunately it’s not turned out to be true and apart from that only flashes from other guys here and there so with that in mind who is an available player that could maybe be that for them on the trade market and well one guy that actually got traded recently could be that for them with that being Dante dienzo according to Brett seagull he could be a potential trade candidate and quote unquote Dante demenzo is being viewed as a potential trade candidate for several contending teams around the league while the Tim rolls valued even venzo skill set the 27-year-old combo guard was not thrilled with the idea of coming off the bench after being traded I mean he wanted to be traded because the Knicks were going to bench him or bring him off the bench rather and then he got traded to a team that did the same thing so obviously not too happy and not really playing through it either up until this point dant chenzo has not really played that well only shooting 35% from the field 32% from three and only about nine points per game after really a breakout year in New York putting up 15 and a half points per game and not to mention on 40% shooting on nearly nine attempts per game so yeah pretty darn effective and then again definitely can be a two-way player has been a really good Defender for a majority of his career and even while taking on more of an offensive burden last season here made a pretty productive Defender be reactive getting plenty of steals deflections and really playing intense one-on-one defense as well fairely switchable quick enough to match up with point guards and shooting guards but also big enough to defend smaller Wing players too and overall you definitely have a two-way player with Dante de venzo he might not be that efficient right now but again he simply doesn’t like his role in Minnesota and more likely than not that very well lead to him being traded again and if you ask me the Lakers should definitely think about trading for him you know we don’t know the price for him quite yet but we do know what his salary is and what it would take to match that then we can maybe predict what kind of draft picks they would want for him or which players they would want to return for Dante D venzo and again he really does have a pathway to their starting lineup so I would not be entirely shocked if they did eventually trade him I mean he won’t start over Anthony Edwards he won’t start over Mike Conley at point guard or Jane McDaniels at the three so again not really a pathway for him here he definitely would fit on the Lakers team he can be and often is a two-way player really being a 3 andd Talent when he’s committed and in a role that he prefers and feels pretty well I think they could give that to him I don’t like the idea of guaranteeing a starting role to anybody I mean if you remember back to 2021 when they traded for Dennis shooter he demanded that and I never like that that’s kind of a deterrent for me and honestly for a majority of front offices too if a role player again a role player not a star player or a lead level starting player is kind of demanding a starting role that can kind of be a turnoff and a deterrent again sure the fit’s obviously great but you got to factor that in you never want a guy to be disrupted in the locker room about their role especially on a contending team I mean let alone any team and that’s kind of what Dante D venzo sounds like right now you know I get it he’s trying to get comfortable yet things aren’t going the way that he envisioned obviously being a part of their starting lineup and playing a bigger role than he currently is but I don’t like they came to their team with an agenda I mean he’s trying to make them fit around him rather than him fitting around them and that’s never a good thing for a role player and don’t get me wrong I’m not saying that Devan chenzo is a bad locker room guy theyve actually been many stories about him being a good lock room guy and a lot of teammates liking him before this but it’s definitely not a good look for him right now and I get it from a money standpoint starting level players tend to get paid higher and that’s likely way he’s trying to be right now it’s not a contract year for him he actually has two years left on his contract but time does come pretty fast and more often than not they look back even further than your past year so he wants to be a starting level player permanently and trying to catch him for that next contract too with that being said though you definitely do got to keep that in mind when thinking about trading for him I mean do you want a guy that’s kind of pushing for a starting spot and do you even have that spot open to begin with luckily for the Lakers I think they do obviously LeBron and Anthony Davis in but maybe Austin Reeves everyone else is kind of open and kind of free within the rotation you don’t need to St cam reddish you don’t need to start ruy hachimura obviously they work in some lineups others not so much but Dante D venzo theoretically would fit in there he could definitely start with LeBron ad and Reeves and that fifth spot kind of being up for grab so he technically would fit but again I don’t like the idea of trading for a player that’s kind of coming to your team with an agenda you know I would look past it for a great fit kind like Dante D venzo but you can’t completely push it away and no I’m not worried about his current down year right now obviously he played really well before this and up until this point has been a really good three-point shooter is and has been a good Defender and overall a productive scoring threat and two-way player so no I’m not worried about a down year I think far too many people look at that and say why would we trade for a guy that’s currently struggling when they really look past the opportunity to buy low rather than always buying high and then regretting it you never want to trade for a guy at their absolute highest value if it’s very likely you go down after that or on the flip side of that you never want to trade your own player at their absolute lowest value that’s something you never want to do and it should only be a last resort really from both angles too and that to me is why Dante D venzo would be a really good trade Target his current value is actually lowered compared to last season which again was a breakout year for him so anytime you can look at a player like that you should really think about trading for them obviously not too far remov from breakout year really playing well 15.5 points per game four rebounds per game about three assists per game 1.3 steals per game and again 40% shooting on nearly nine attempts for game that sounds like the player they could definitely benefit from and I think he definitely would benefit their team only being 27 years old on top of that and a little bit more room to get better so I wouldn’t and am not worried about trading for him I’m not afraid of a quote unquote down year especially for a guy under the age of 30 you know he’s not coming off an or anything so it’s not worried about that and again I think it’s actually an opportunity to buy low with that being said though it would not be easy trade to pull off the t-wolves are actually a second apron team meaning they can’t take back any money through a trade and then the Lakers can’t either being a first apron team so they definitely would have to get a third or even fourth team involved to make it happen definitely not impossible but a little bit of a road block they can’t simply trade gave Vincent a minimum contract for him that wouldn’t work unfortunately they they would have to include a third team fourth team or even fifth team they need that extra help to pull out the salary neither the Lakers or t-wolves can take back any money again so they need that third team to take back salary an additional player or whatever it might be they do need that help to pull the trade off again not impossible but definitely a lot more difficult overall though I do like the idea of trading or at least exploring a trade for Dante de menzo I don’t think he likes the role with their team that’s pretty obvious and I don’t think he ever will again there’s not a pathway for him to enter their starting lineup and he does seem to be kind of fixated on that the Lakers really do have an opportunity for that though their shooting guard spots really up for grabs here cam reddish definitely isn’t a permanent member of it and ruy haimer is not really a good fit for their starting lineup to begin with so between only LeBron ad and Reeves there’s two other spots up for grabs here and one of them being that shooting guard or small forward spot which Dante de vinchenzo could fill and with him being a two-way player pal being automatic upgrade for their team making it more versatile and beneficial for guys like LeBron and AD compared to a guy like cam reddish or Donan connect being either useful on defense or offense but not both a whole bunch of the time so Devan chenzo would be an upgrade for them a better fit for their team and an overall worthwhile investment too being under contract for an additional year after this one and only being 27 years old so I like it but it does come with an agenda and a fairly difficult team to trade with so definitely both pros and cons here but with that in mind what do you guys think how do you feel about a trade for
