coming at you live from my home studio in beautiful Lao California this is the all Dodgers podcast a few MZ in there and this is the final all Dodgers podcast of the 2024 season what a season what a year it has been on today’s show yeah we’re reflecting a little bit back on 2024 we’re also talking looking ahead at 2025 looking how good those Dodgers are right now and yes you see the title you see the thumbnail there’s some Roki Sasaki stuff we got to talk about all that and more uh on another edition of all Dodgers live he’s not he’s in the kitchen but he’s not at the kids table that is not SN dog I realized I didn’t change that but that is producer Kevin I can’t be for tonight I can be whoever you want me to be now you you need to be more uh one you’re on my show so you need to be hat backwards that’s a thing we clearly have what’s your name again this one you’re you’re Kevin but uh chat what’s going on appreciate you guys hanging out with us in the chat here on this Modell Monday we haven’t done Modello Mondays in a while I’m having a highball a Jim Beam highball myself today feeling good we’re feeling good listen again it’s the end of the year it’s been a phenomenal year as a Dodgers fan Dodgers won a World Series and we cap off the year with with tasar Hernandez returning to the team uh I already talked about that on Friday you could not join um do you want to give me some thoughts your your uh love affair with Tay Oscar can continue my dude yeah absolutely I it it made the most sense you you know um it came down to money of course deferrals years all that it came down to everything as I laid out literally what constitutes an MLB contract um but it made the most sense um I’m a big proponent of the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t you know what you’re getting with t Oscar and there’s not a price tag you can put on clubhouse chemistry or showing up in the big moment that those are things that you know that’s why Kik was around and it’s like why we told everybody all last year hey just wait just give it a little time once October comes around Kik is going to show up and you know Kik did teoscar did for two of the three series but um it’s it’s great to have him back I I mean he’s a Hu it’s gonna mean a lot it’s gonna be something more than just what the stat pad shows he’s gonna produce he’s gonna provide a ton to this team so I’m really excited um and and and not even just like in a run it back way I do think the Dodgers get better again with teoscar who’s now more comfortable with the team who can now kind of maybe step into a leadership role if he wants um there’s a lot to really really love about that signing some some people weren’t happy with uh the years of it I I don’t understand why people are so upset about the idea of going to a third year as if once again as if it’s their money as if tasar Hernandez is suddenly going to forget how to like live or walk or anything like that three years from now it’s three years good is that good to you yeah so three years is great because of that fourth year option so what the Dodgers can do is after two years which is what most people wanted that’s a very very tradable contract after the second year that’s what I was saying I mentioned that a few times yeah yeah you trade him to I don’t not to put it out there but like you trade him to Boston who doesn’t have uh set in stone DH as of right now Des might get there but you see what I’m saying or the Yankees the Yankees get off um Jean Carlo’s contract in I think two years they might need a DH again and two years from now hey look you get a onee of Tay Oscar guaranteed if he performs really well for you there is a fourth op there’s a fourth year there’s another year that you could pay him on the cheap as far as dhes go so I think it’s a really really really good contract um I don’t think that third year matters at all uh because if his Bat is right $22 million a year for that bat that like that’s going to play I mean the Dodgers paid that much for JD I think and he was amazing you throw them in like you throw them in the AL East you know or up you know Houston even I know they have yon but you when I made like a like a hitter from the park that’s a really really good contract for anybody to trade for and it’s not going to cost them an arm and a leg Prospect wise and again he was one of those dudes I was really worried that it would get to not worried I was willing to spend not my money on on seeing that contract get up to like 3 and 80 or something like that I think that wasn’t a terrible deal um if we eventually saw that but uh you know hopefully he’s happy with this deal hopefully it doesn’t sound doesn’t feel to him like it’s um uh uh you know some sort of slap in the face he’s still ultimately getting he signed it altogether it’s a fouryear like $89 million deal it’s a pretty you know he bet on himself and he won he won that’s the important thing he’s he’s got to feel like he won you got to feel like you win when you go out and win a World Series you’re literally feeling like you win uh diving into some of the comments here appreciate you guys hanging out um we got some more media with people uh on top of media that he did uh you know I think it was Friday maybe Saturday uh Bill plunket had was part of you know a group of of reporters talking to him or however it went I’ll be honest I didn’t pay a [ __ ] ton of attention to Dodgers news over the weekend sometimes your boy needs to click off that brain but uh the Dodgers great news not surprising news they have indeed spoken with Roki Sasaki and his agent Joel wolf uh we found out today more about what those sort of meetings are um what they’re looking like because right now Roki and Joel wolf are not meeting with everybody there are some teams that just kind of sent their you know their pitch deck and they’re hoping for a call back you know they send in their head shot I guess and that’s about it um but according to Joel wolf couple of couple takeaways that I I found somewhat intriguing he said Sasaki is calling the shot for his age and considering he’s never been you know obviously to Major League Baseball to me that’s I don’t know if it’s weird if it’s somewhat shocking but it’s good to know that ultimately it feels like whatever Roki Sasaki wants he’s not going to get borest into a situation where maybe he doesn’t want to be there but is going to go there because the money or his agent wants you to do that no he says Joel wolf says Roki Sasaki is calling the shots leading the way in these he doesn’t want player representation from organizations coming in and kind of trying to sway him so maybe he doesn’t want to have to hear from his boys Otani and Yamamoto or Mr UD darish from the Padres uh there’s also a strict time allotment right now because this is the first date of you know ostensively it’s the first date but they’re they’re talking for about two hours um nothing is happening right now obviously he’s back in Japan holidays and all that kind of stuff but what uh takeaways from this uh is there anything new does any any of this help the Dodgers uh in any way shape or form um no maybe not but I do think it helps the Dodgers if you subscribe to the idea that he always wanted to be a Dodger um if he is calling the shots as you as as Joe wolf has um he laid out earlier that tells me that Roki Sasaki knows what he wants he knows what he’s looking for um and like said he’s not going to be persuaded by his agent you know he’s not going to get Scott Boris into anything so if you know you pair that with the rumors that Sasaki has a heavy lean towards the Dodgers I think that benefits the Dodgers in the long run um I also think that if um by not having players you know in like present at these meetings again I think that again goes back to he knows what he’s looking for and he’s not trying to get persuaded by The Glitz and glamour of you know you know I hate hate dumping on a team when they’re down but like what the wh sock might have to offer you know what I mean it’s like hey yeah like look how awesome of a person um Lis Robert Jr is even though might get you know what I mean like he might not get persuaded by that so I think if this to me reads he has an idea of what he wants he’s going for that you know there was a quote out there about why he doesn’t want to uh why he’s basically sacrificing M hundreds of millions of dollars by coming to MLB this year as opposed to next year his agent said he wants to be one of the greatest again these are all quotes that I read today and I was like that seems a lot like the Dodgers and unfortunately the Padres um I think those both like it’s just I I guess what I’m saying is I think the odds for those teams went up and the field went down I don’t think it necessarily means that the Dodgers gained a up on the other contenders I just think the teams that we didn’t perceive as contenders I think those teams are like way way way down in the bucket at this point yeah no that much I agree with I I I mean we’ve had the conversation a number of times already this offseason I haven’t tried to really overly push the Roki Sasaki talk I saw somebody in the comments saying uh or in the chat saying this is clickbait to the extreme I I don’t think so I’ve seen terrible head terrible click titles all I said is latest RI suaki updates which is quite literally what exactly the [ __ ] is happening right now not it’s not coming from Haymon it’s not coming from um like Bob Nightingale if he’s in the chat sorry Bob it’s not your this is from his agent this was something he jumped on a zoom call and laid this out and it is something that is worth going over these are real posts these are real things that like are worth paying attention to if John Heyman came out and said this we would say hey with the largest grain of salt this is what John yeah that’s just hymon you know regurgitating the same thing because he has a column quota he needs to make uh each week and be fair you know we kind of have a show quota whatever but this is still something this is the Calm before the Roki storm that is coming in about a week 10 days uh you know the the window for the new international bonus pool period that that signing period is 16 days away 17 days away or something like that so within 2 weeks all of this Roi stuff is going to mean a whole lot and it’s going to get real real spicy real quick so to know that hey yeah the Dodgers as you expect as you would have expected have already met with Sasaki and his agent his representation kind of laying out all right this is what we have this is what we trying to do we don’t even know if money and figures are exchanged at that point I saw somebody mentioning I I kind of half readit in the chat I apologize but somebody saying that maybe the Padres did um you know did kind of already lay out what they’re their contract would look like it doesn’t matter what their contract would look like like dude’s not going to get money he’s sacrificing money as Kevin just said and his agent said he’s sacrif he’s leaving money he could have made so much money arguably could have made Yamamoto money or more more yeah I’ve heard a lot of people he would have made more because again the AG plays a huge factor into this he’s 23 years old and he I mean like there there are concerns with some of his pitches primarily his fast ball and the V dip is a concern but at the same time like 23y old you know like Phenom with with his stuff yeah like you’re going to pay a lot of money for that you’re basically trying to lock up I don’t think to this level but like trying to lock up Paul skes I don’t think he’s as good as Paul skes as of right now like there’s no as of right now can he get there sure like Paul Paul is one of those insane talents and Roki could be maybe in that argument we haven’t seen him pitch in the states we have seen Paul SK pitch in the States but most people really feel a lot of people really feel like RI is the real deal again going back to what you uh what you said that his agent that said he wants to be quote one of the greatest ever and in my argument there and I’ve said it a few times already this offseason there is nowhere on the planet that will give you a better opportunity to be the best ever than the Los Angeles Dodgers um they’re going to make you you know the best version of of a pitcher they’re going to teach you the best you know grip it and rip it spin r all of this type of you know pitching [ __ ] that we we get off on for sure I love talking about all of that kind of stuff but to me what makes the greatest when we’re talking about goats these days and and the greatest ever you know specifically these days exactly it’s that ring it’s not it it’s I I wish I had the the Kobe gift you know ready the 1 2 3 4 five Tom Brady Seven Rings Derek Jeter a terrible terrible major League short stop not a Hall of Famer is a Hall of Famer because he won [ __ ] five World Series Championships um titles matter when you’re talking about being the goat or the the goatness the greatest ever and if RI wants to be considered one of the greatest ever a great at least a great Pit Stop to Start your career would be with the Los Angeles Dodgers um no team is better set up for a a run of success immediately in in the shortterm future and in the long-term future than the Los Angeles Dodgers the you know the organization players in the organization and of course the the talent they have when it comes to um coaching and and Player Development hands down best in baseball no absolutely there’s a reason why guys like Tyler Anderson Andrew Heeney Noah card Once Upon a Time James paxt there’s a reason these dudes signed one-year contracts with the Dodgers is because they believe and because the Dodgers have shown they can Revitalize a career they can bring out the best in a pitcher so that helps obviously helps their pitch to Roki Sasaki and on top of that man look what this past postseason did for yamamoto’s narrative people were talking about oh is he worth it because he had a bad start in Korea and a bad start on a torrential downpour game in Chicago but all of a sudden he goes to New York and shoves in the postseason and everything it yeah that was it nobody cares it’s like y he’s a big game guy that’s it and just you want you EAS you want the easy narrative in that way you want something that you want the fast track not easy but the fast trck into Elite territory hey man pitching in big games shoving in big games will absolutely do that to you that’s why Walker ber also got $22 million this off season because he shows up in those big games and because the Dodgers gave him the opportunity to show up in big games so I like everything if you want to be one of the best if you want to be the greatest outside of trying to like carry a team which is really hard to do in baseball from the dredges up into Elite status like the best way to do that is making sure you’re pitching an October baseball with the staff that can help develop your talents which all screams La yeah I love it I mean if he’s smart about it Roki is gonna be a Dodger I I still think like you were saying earlier and like we’ve already talked about a number of times again this winter the Padres firmly in the mix for sure like some of the more recent stuff that our friend John Heyman mentioned you know it’s probably like you know better than 50/50 that the Dodgers land him I would go above that I I would probably say the Dodgers have about a 75% chance chance of Landing him again if he’s bringing all of the organizational uh uh you know picture into focus and he’s looking at what they have in that front office what they have on the roster right now seeing Oh damn all these guys are locked up they’re going to be this good for I mean the bare minimum three more years for sure five most likely the next 15 they find a way and um if Roki finds his way to La uh we’re going to feel pretty dang good about it let’s see what the chat has to say well exact chilltown no chilltown Allstar he they said they not assuming said something that makes a ton of sense too six-man rotation will also be beneficial for rookie there’s not a team in baseball that’s better set up for a six-man rotation than the Dodgers just saying like if if that’s what he wants and that and that’s best for him moving forward which is what we saw with Yamamoto which we will see with Otani and glass now yeah you need a six-man rotation the Dodgers have basically built a six-man rotation they just for whatever reason really don’t want to call it that I think they finally will this year I mean they they have they don’t officially want to call it it I guess but they’ve kind of called it yeah apparent somebody said your kitchen’s real dirty right now the dishes are clean every there are no dirty dishes over there those are leftovers and fresh pasta that we’re making for there are no all the dishes clean needs Perfection it’s ridiculous by the way you guys uh I I need to post this on social media but you guys like my new uh backdrop changed it slightly we got the LA over there I got this awesome uh World Series print from my friend Chris fabrigas uh known him for a long time uh he took this beautiful shot and also I have random black paint on my hands because of dumb things but um um he took that shot back in 2018 the game that Max Muny did had the uh the walk-off Homer in the World Series against the mookies Boston Red Sox and whenever the Dodgers make it deep in the playoffs he goes back to that spot takes it takes another um you know this panoramic panoramic shot and it’s it’s really cool uh you buy one of those you get this this cool uh pretend you know walkoff uh Grand Slam ticket stub so pretty cool I’ll link it in in the headlines will really start to spice up uh but the Dodgers have spoken to Roki and his camp and that is much better than the alternative which is like the Phillies who were not invited even to the Kids Table where we sometimes find producer Kevin uh moving on there’s a headline that we know has been out there we haven’t touched on it too much also this off seon but uh it was brought up by Jack Harris in the LA Times talking Dave Roberts contract extension um it’s on the table the Dodgers are working right now they’re they still got some roster to figure out because even after bringing back to ascar Hernandez I don’t think they’re done we will we will get to that in just a second but um you know more pressing ISS issues but most likely we’re going to see Dave Roberts become the highest paid Major League manager of all time rightfully so uh we we’ve seen the the rumors that you know he should exceed Craig council’s uh fiveyear $40 million deal that he Inked with uh with the Cubs last year hey let’s just let’s just dick around how much is Dave Roberts going to get and how much is he really worth because I think he’s worth every penny sorry sorry fire Dave Roberts people by the way yeah exactly I I mean I I I see him getting to that $10 million a year mark I he’s just he’s worth it everybody wants to talk about getting the keys of the Ferrari but if you don’t know how to drive a damn Ferrari you’re just going to crash it so we see those videos on YouTube yep so I I whatever he wants I think Mark Walters and the gugenheim group just kind of have to open their checkbooks and go yep okay you’ve got us you he’s gotten this there you know there’s there have been plenty of opportunities there’s been plenty of distractions where the entire team the organization could have derailed and it didn’t mostly because of Dave Robert’s leadership and his ability to command the locker room and keep guys on track um and also his his relationship with the players you know he’s a he’s definitely as we’ve seen a ve a player first manager and I think he should easily get more than Craig canel got because Craig Kel didn’t even make the playoffs this year so yeah I like I don’t know like like we he’s got two rings Dave Roberts should have a third he’s on a he’s already unless something absolutely insane happens you know he starts we find out he started gambling on the Dodgers he’s GNA be a Hall of Fame manager don’t even put that out there oh I know but it’s bad but it’s just barring something like that there’s not an amount that’s too much for a manager like this and a lot of people love saying fire Dave Roberts and the question I always ask is okay cool who do you want instead what would like who else would you rather have managing this team because I’ve seen I remember 2012 I remember 2013 those were some uh those were some years in Dodgers baseball history so uh yeah appreciate having Dave around I I remember the gry little era I remember Joe Tor killing pictures did make you know two uh NL L cs’s back to back um Don madingley just getting handed the job not earning it not deserving it uh but the Dodgers are an organization that is built on stability in that manager spot and Dave Roberts very well could and should be the next 20-year guy that this organization has had you had Walt alustin you had Tommy and Doc could be well on his it’s Insanity to think that what next year is year year 10 10 yeah it it’s yeah it’s a lot [ __ ] we got speaking of [ __ ] yeah I know we got a couple Kevin UW $20 if you were a drink you’d be a whiskey deat because Angeles Dodgers this winter so far just in that amount of time that uh you know they they won the World Series since winning the World Series the Dodgers have added Blake Snell a topof the rotation arm they’ve added Michael conforto a very serviceable quality outfielder to be a part of some sort of platoon in the Outfield wherever he mixes in it’s a great addition it’s a it’s a lowrisk high reward guy you resign of course importantly teoscar Hernandez you bring back Blake Tran on a two-year deal the extended Tommy Edmund if we’re talking about consistency you’re talking about success for this team for this organization a reason that somebody like a Roi Roki Sasaki would want to sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers you look at all those names on top of Yamamoto Yamamoto going to be here for another decade nine more years of show hey uh eight more years of mooki bets list goes on and on they are built for Success um and we know there’s still more to come like like Clayton Kershaw for sure is coming back but I wanted to talk about specific specifically uh uh Kik Hernandez for a second because it feels like as we said earlier in uh in one of the super chats um it feels like the Dodgers aren’t quite done at this moment they need to add one two more pieces I think Kik is going to be one of those guys we’ve talked Kik so far on the channel a decent little bit but if there’s one more piece I want to see this team bring back it’s in R Hernandez uh the market has been so quiet for Kik and when I see a player of his caliber with his ilk with his postseason wrap sheet of of success when I see him remaining a free agent and I know I know Kevin will will agree with this one when you see Kik still out on the market and and nobody like there’s no headlines there’s no anything we’re hearing about Kik just yet he’s it feels to me like something is in the works the market has been so quiet um just have to have something working something kicking with Enrique’s Camp uh so we’ll say this do we think he’s coming back long way around to this so we think he’s coming back and if not where the hell does Kik Hernandez end up no I I I definitely think he’s with the Dodgers I think it’s something where there is an under the table agreement hey it’s just not right now we got to get a couple things done we’ll Circle back to you you know it’s kind of like last off season um I know he gave them kind of a firm deadline uh into January if I remember correctly I think it’s that’s what he told the gents on foul territory if you guys Bo haven’t given them a listen go do it they’re all they’re all they’re a great time um but he keik mentioned he gave them a hard the Dodgers a hard deadline and then the Dodgers end up bringing him back I think it’s a similar situation not that he’s given them a hard deadline but I think the Dodgers have told K hey we’re looking to find a way to bring you back this is what we’re going to offer you we just have to move a couple guys um to get there Kenny chunks has best handshake deal with Kik and Freedman that he’ll come back after the free up space and the 40 Man Kik get going anywhere exactly I think you know as soon as um spring training opens up and they can put Kershaw Dustin may um River Ryan on the 40 or guys that are on the 40 minute they can move them to the 60-day I open up a couple roster spots K will be right back yeah I think you know there was a there was a couple years where it’s like oh we want guys like Kik because he produces in October but I I think people were saying that half-heartedly like they wanted to believe he would continue to produce an October not that there was a ton of evidence that he would for the Dodgers yeah and then this past this past postseason we see what he did and now I was like oh we need this guy back because when the lights get brightest he’s clutch he’s as clutch as it gets yeah exactly so I think and I think the Dodgers as an organization see that too and go okay we got to bring this guy back so maybe that handshake that verbal agreement they had last year it’s a little more serious this time around it’s like hey as soon as spring training opens up and we get a couple roster spots this is the contract are you like they’ve already negotiated out yeah his role his money and everything and it’s just you we just it’s like Kershaw gotta wait for a couple spots to open Orlando in the chat brings up a good point like what is the price for Kik last year he signed an extremely team-friendly deal $4 million coming off of a bad what stretch of a year and a half or something like that he he did find um uh you know they did find an issue with his with his groin you know he had some issues he had some problems as the great Mrs Kevin pops into the background carrying pizza oh dirtying up the kitchen more dirtying up the kitchen more um yeah Kik just at this point in time makes so much sense yeah uh somebody but he was saying Orlando like is $8 million is that is that what Kik is gonna look for like is he Holding Out for a multi-year deal and and to the other part of my question it’s like if he’s not coming back where’s he going because I don’t see the fit that he’s looking for at this point in his career he like we’re just talking about all the reasons saki you want to come here the the the potential for an extended run of success that’s not anywhere else yeah the Yankees you know we know the Yankees were um they were in conversations with Kik very late into last uh last you know almost spring training there’re you know right around there they wanted to sign him but are they like a realistic option right now uh the Mets are they looking for that you know a different type of Veteran leadership to add you know kind of pepper out that that team that’s still I wouldn’t say peace meal but adding in Wan sto um right now still no Pete Alonzo it’s it’s it’s a different looking version of the Mets Arizona like I was thinking Arizona but with the Diamondbacks want to steal him away for the Spite and and also at the same time like have uh that that serious postseason dog adding added to to their roster all of them to me still don’t make enough sense it’s like Kik he told us I want to be a Dodger there’s nowhere better to win right now and I agree with what you said I said this earlier on Dodgers territory as well I think I think the front office is working on some sort of trade and that’s where we’re at I think trades need to happen because once Tay Oscar’s official roster is at 40 and they can’t you know you can’t make any 60 day I designations until spring training you can’t you can’t just blanket open yourself up roster spots or anything like that either doing that um and so if we’re looking at guys that are currently on the trade block for the Dodgers we’ve talked around them a little bit we’ll add to the list but of course Chris Taylor firmly on that uh on that list but if you’re trading away like if you’re trading away players a player to open up a roster spot you you you you got to it’s got to be a multiplayer deal so it’s like cartaya going to be part of a deal um Hunter fedua going to be part of a deal cuz those are two catchers that don’t really have a spot and the a parent to catching and backup catching or whatever it is is Dalton rushing at some point this year Dalton rushing will be up with the Dodgers uh we’ve seen we’ve heard we presume Gavin Lux is on the trade block James Altman does he have a future with this team something tells me that addition of Michael conforto says no he does not so how do you make all of that work how do you make all of that work like do you do you two-piece uh you know like a two for one is it is it with the Cardinals and and not for Nolan Aeron that’s where I’m at so with that as a long setup I want to step back and say this because I said you know since winning the World Series Dodgers have added some pieces they’ve added uh they’ve brought back some pieces um our biggest concern for a little bit of this offseason a good chunk of this offseason was the Outfield so I’ll say even with bringing teoscar back could the Dodgers still be looking to add to the Outfield via trade because we’re still seeing like some people on the internet saying Luis Robert makes sense for the team um you know my my friend Blake Harris mentioned that on on his uh Twitter SE Suzuki maybe still make some sort of sense um if we’re going and looking at the St Louis Cardinals Lars Newar and Ryan Hesley making some sense is is is there something crazy in the works I don’t know I the I don’t I don’t feel it like I have in the past is what I guess I’m saying yeah I know I see what you’re saying and and also the Dodgers are hard to read because nothing materializes until all of a sudden it materializes you’re like oh okay this just like happened you know you know when the Sherer trade came down it’s like oh we’re trading for sh sherzer oh we’re also getting Trey Turner like we had like and that was without Trey Turner even being metion in trade conversations at that point I mean Tommy Edmond last year nobody knew he was even on the trade we have no idea so yeah could something be in the works sure I would not be surprised if nothing is in the works regarding the Outfield I think the Dodgers are okay or at least I’m as a fan okay with an outfield of edman teoscar and then a platoon of pz and conforto yeah I really like that even if pz is just the fourth outfielder um and that because he can play some center field when um if they want to move Edmund to second base against left-handed pitching pz can go to center field you take Lux out Edmund plays second where he’s won a gold glove before so like that makes sense to me PES could just be the fourth Outfield Fielder at that point because I’ve seen a lot of people in recent recently talk about how good conforto is and how he might not be like a good platoon guy because he has pretty good splits against both right hand and left handed pitching so I don’t think there’s an outfield move coming down the pipeline I wouldn’t be shocked if maybe there’s an infield I definitely think there’s some pitching that needs to be touched on with regards to um you know a back end of the rotation guy and another reliever um and back to the original question of if K doesn’t sign with the Dodgers where would he go I might be recenty because jock just sign with the Rangers but I think the Rangers make a lot of sense they don’t really have a utility guy Cory you know Seager isn’t he’s not a 140 game guy necessarily he’s always do for a couple stints on the isil which is unfortunate but having Kik around there to help that out Place some third Bay play some Outfield you know I think that uh definitely could help the Rangers uh and on the Block like you said I think you pair a guy like ct3 with cartaya or fedua whatever you know whoever the flavor of the month is or whatever that team likes you know you move off CT’s contract get a prospect you know a guy that’s shown up in high a maybe double A nothing crazy similar to like the Michael Bush trade just reset a little bit on the year somebody you don’t have to add to the 40-man roster immediately I definitely think that could be something but I would be pretty surprised if an outfielder gets traded for or definitely signed at this point yeah I I agree with that I do like that the pieces they they have in place at the moment where where I’m I guess where I’m mostly going is stepping back we’re talking about hey they they they want Kik back there they’re going to want Kik back at some point and with that they need to open up some sort of spot on that um on that roster and it’s it’s either going to be Lux or it’s Chris Taylor that’s kind of where it’s at because the Tao signing um you know that takes you that takes yeah that takes a 20 26 man spot and and it takes uh uh um uh you know James outman off of the roster he’s still on the 40 man but it takes him off the 26 man if K is coming back I’m not worried about the 40 man roster they have dudes they can DFA to make that deal happen if it happens sooner than you know we’re expecting um expecting being you know spring training Gentleman’s Agreement all of that y but if he’s on the 26 man Chris this is now officially a time where him and Chris Taylor I don’t think they can coexist on the same roster not not with Edmond not with Ed like maybe last year but once you bring somebody like Edmund in who can play the premier positions that the Dodger you know that the Dodgers like rotating center field in Short Stop second base you know those up the middle as uh as it were I I don’t think you can field both Chris Taylor and Kik and I think at this point there’s no reason to even remotely consider Chris Taylor over Kik Kik you know as as much as we give Kik at least he shows up when we need him to Chris Taylor he had his opportunity in the postseason I think he went over for three with two strikeouts that’s yeah that that is fair listen I I I don’t want to sit here also and like [ __ ] all over Chris Taylor because everybody did that anything run yeah everybody did that a whole [ __ ] ton last year deservedly so he did have a really nice second half I think there is some value there I think even if he St stayed with the Dodgers there would be value he would he would provide value to the team but I still want to see ke I would love to see what Chris Taylor does with the Dodgers but if it’s him or Kik give me Kik uh if it’s him or Gavin Lux honestly give me Gavin Lux at this point and you know Tommy Edmond they they extended him for a reason he’s not going anywhere so you need to have this dude around um or or sorry you need to have uh you know some sort of spot open so it this might be the end of the Chris Taylor era and somebody said in the chat I think it was pin sanity uh let me find it right here because it goes away on on this version of the chat but it’s like is it maybe time that they consider releasing him um one year left on the deal he’s never been cheaper since signing that four-year deal I think if they can’t find a trade it is on the table no it’s on the table it’s it’s it’s an option you know this organization loves to have as many options it’s Ario exact it’s way the last case scenario I absolutely think that they would rather trade ct3 and a prospect like a good Prospect and take a bet on a lower level Prospect I think they would much prefer to do that um before just like outright releasing a guy because I mean like look what they did with Matt batty you traded him for River Ryan who was like nobody in the Padre’s organization but they had to get rid of batty at that point and so they’re like hey we’ll take a flyer on a dude that’s like hasn’t played anything more than a ball or I think he was a rookie ball at that point I absolutely think the Dodgers would do that before releasing they’ll say hey take fedia take ct3 we’ll get a guy in your a ball or in a yeah if it’s something like that Red’s deal we saw 2018 2019 the Kemp P um who else Kyle farmer there was like it’s a bunch of of pieces that kind of outran their usefulness to to the team they were going in a different direction and that if we see that I would be once again I mean just yeah let let Freeman cook that’s what we got to do that and that and that’s where people want to talk about you know spoiled Dodgers fans that’s where the Dodgers are really spoiled it’s oh these trades for some minor leager no one’s ever heard of give it two years and all of a sudden he’s a top 100 guy like really then it becomes Jeter DS and Josiah gray both of whom netted the Dodgers Mookie Betts Max sherzer and Trey Turner yeah that’s that is what they do oh poor Jeter Downs oh my God uh also for falling on that sword yeah thanks doie for falling on that sword my God again I want to reiterate this isn’t this isn’t about saying that that we hate Chris Taylor he’s a bad player bad human it’s nothing about anything with that obviously um it’s just at some point players don’t make sense on teams anymore and is that point what going working very much against Chris Taylor outside of the fact that he’s had a pretty bad last couple of years he’s also painfully 35 now and is making a good chunk of money so the Dodgers will need to pay down some of that I think they would I think they would be willing to pay down some contct that’s where you pair a pro you pair you pair like a high level Prospect with him um yeah Chris Taylor has owed 133 million cash but 15 against the tax which is really but he does have a club option for 12 million the year after in 2026 so again team control if you get him in an organization that can maybe maximize him or that they like him enough it gets look Club options are great just I love that the T Built it into pretty much every contract because I think it gives every all 29 other teams it just makes it more appealing to them Chris Navaro $10 Happy New Year’s Kevin and appreciate you and yeah uh he’s 34 years old Chris Taylor so we got we got a full eight months before he turns 3 okay still I I mean he’s old enough he’s he’s past his prime a little bit and again past his that swing’s not getting any faster so let let let’s step back then we’ve kind of already talked about one angle another angle what if no moves are made I think we’ve also kind of addressed this but like are we good enough with this team as it is right now this is this is really feels like it should be a bigger conversation for a different show cuz I do want to kind of acknowledge the fact that this is the final show 24 24 was a great year and all that so maybe we’ll talk briefly about this and and explore it much deeper next week or two weeks from now whatever it is but if no moves are made now assuming you know all the the red tape and you know crossing the te’s and dotting the eyes are done on that teoscar Hernandez deal are we good with the team as it is right now no other moves no other additions you know starting nine bench plus the the depth they have I think I’m I’m mostly thinking position player– wise not so much pitching are we good enough are we do we feel they’re good enough now also seeing what the rest of the NLS has done um you know Giants adding some pieces not Corbin Burns but adding will ad Damas uh Arizona adding uh putting together the one starting rotation that could compete with the Dodgers right now in terms of of talent like is there is there enough is there enough um offensive weapons are there enough offensive weapons for the Dodgers in your opinion oh oh yeah absolutely I mean they just won the World Series with this exact roster offensively so no reason why like there’s no reason to believe that Freddy’s gonna fall off the cliff there’s no reason to believe Muki is sh is only getting better at this point um you know teoscar is teoscar you know they had a down year on Will Smith uh you know hopefully that doesn’t continue I don’t expect it to um they have some younger guys waiting the wings I am big on Andy pz going in the next year again it’s that second year removed from shoulder surgery so I expect him to show some real pop Michael conforto is an excellent piece I think for this Outfield he’s pretty much like what we loved about the Dodgers in that 2017 to 2019 era of like he’s a platoon out like he’s like AJ Pollock but better kind of is kind of how I’m viewing him so I love everything about what offensively they can do and then even like we even talk about it but like pitching wise they got better because you added Blake Snell and lost Jack flare and Walker beer my guy but as much as I love especially Walker beer Blake Snell is a better pitcher than Walker buer unfor will ever be so um we need to remind ourselves that Walker had an ER you know over over five yeah it was it over five Oh I thought it was over four that is not Walker to me I think I think what we saw in the postseason is not Walker something you know maybe he becomes something of you know something close to the Walker of old but yeah get give me Blake Snell any [ __ ] day of the week um BC says white sock fans wouldn’t take Taylor on a minor league contract God yes they would oh% would you didn’t watch enough white sock games oh they would oh they would uh great point from hepatitis C later going back to that that Red’s deal uh says pan Kemp actually had above average years though that’s why they were able to get valuable prospects um Fair Chris Chris Taylor like bat aside he he’s a valuable player because of his versatility it’s just at this point the Dodgers don’t need that versatility anymore which is where he starts losing value specifically to this organization which is unfortunate because we’ve seen him play amazing center field left field second base Third Base we’ve seen it all done before it’s just we they don’t need them to anymore they’ve got guys to do that already yeah absolutely um I I just love this comment it’s not necessarily related to it uh to what we’re talking about here but Alonso saying does anybody think or that that Jack Peterson needed a press conference I was thinking the same thing I was like why it’s like I love jock is great he’s good for a quote but my word why is he sitting with the owner in the managers what he two time World Series champ though so I don’t know did he bring I didn’t see did he bring the the pearl necklace I did not see that one I don’t think so no no also he looks a little trimmer just throwing that out there he does he maybe you know for this free agency put down a cookie or and an ice cream or two something I could possibly I he’s jealous of Cory Seager that’s all he just he can’t look bad in front of his boy that’s that’s that’s reasonable um very important comment here Nando 390 I hate my weak link unfortunately there is um the captain don’t you no listen he is my friend now he also had a really decent enough 2024 season he did he really did well above the Mendoza Line with no pop that’s what you want to see out of your backup catcher I love that no Abol I will say when we interviewed him on Dodger’s territory I’m a little upset that he didn’t like you know like build up his job a little bit more he’s like oh will doesn’t need any help like no just say like he help so you’re saying that you show up for 162 and play in 40 50 of them and don’t do [ __ ] to help the team on the other ones n Austin by the way check that out to link in the description for my Austin Austin will how to block because with Blake Snell on the mound there’s going to be a lot of kicked balls a 2025 actual legit you know wide casting meetups and we understand like it’s a small group that’s on Discord an even smaller group that lives close to us and we still show up show out had a really cool little like kind of you know pre- Christmas meal together a couple weeks ago met up at Dodger Stadium went to Richie’s house and D’Or to see the man cave and um again more cool things happening but speaking of Richie I want Richie uh you know proudly to say uh to send us off uh into that great 2025 so here’s what Richie had to say in the voicemail hotline today oh hey Quint Happy New Year to you run it back again just to piss people even more off and if we get Roki oh my God the the social media epic meltdown would just be just so delicious and finally I want YouTube to demonetize the talking
