it’s the match preview welcome along and we’re here to discuss luten Town traveling to Ellen road to take on leads United and with me for not traveling there it’s my co-host as always it’s Mark Ryman how we getting on this evening Mark I’m good I’m good thank you yeah not not traveling to leads on a Wednesday night um it’s uh I’m not that much for Glo for punishment I’ll be honest yeah it it will be pretty brutal I think the extent of my traveling that day will be going to the brickies to watch the game surrounded by other locen Town fans I think that’s probably my limit when it comes to punishment um but before we proceed on the podcast if you’re watching this and you’re not subscribed why not come along join our journey and we we talk l in town we also talk the championship yeah check it out you know have a little nose around our Channel but let’s dive straight in and have a brief recap of Luci Town one whole [Music] nil right we’ve done so many of these Ryman haven’t we already I think this is our third show tonight so we’ll do it very briefly at least it’s a win usually we have to talk about a loss four or five times in a row I lose the world to live after the bur game so yeah I’m I’m happy here talking about a one-nil win over and over again it was Improvement um defensively we look good other than the times when Hall completely cut US Open but at the same time they didn’t have their shooting boots uh they they missed uh three quite guilt edged chances um there’s still room for improvement from Lut Town isn’t there oh miles of room but I I think that you know I don’t think anyone really after watching the B game and how we performed All Season bar Sunderland and Watford really thought that this game was going to suddenly turn things around in one fail S I just I just didn’t see it happening you know you said the same thing we want to see some fight and spirit and we got that um you know against a let’s put it you know mildly unorthodox team in the way that they set up um they’re quite fun to watch I would say that I mean h fans probably um utterly miserable the fact they they can’t score for love nor money and it’s a good job they can’t but great fans though they were making noise through out and even after they lost they were still singing and clapping their team it was remarkable yeah and you know it’s they always have been they’ve always been noisy when they come down to korth Road um but I think um you know they they did they looked really good they played some fluid football they had about 70 odd per 75% possession at at one point you know and they did look good and you know um yeah they their left back who should be their right back looked pretty handy as well right yeah he did he did he was oh Cody drama what could have been what could have been if Luton Town had just signed him he was a free he was a free agent we should have signed him but oh you know I’m glad that that game’s done I don’t know how Hall was so far down probably just because they can’t finish but otherwise yeah they knock the ball around really well especially in a storm with G Force wins pissing down rain they move the ball around so well um but let’s uh have a little look at the team news ahead of luton’s trip to leads [Music] the team used quite a good bill of health for luten town I must say uh other than Alfie Dy who’s out with ligament damage until well possibly the New Year Reese Burke went off injured shander Baptist went off injured Tom Krauss went off injured Ruel Walters who continues to be a long-term absence Jordan Clark comes back though from a one game suspension cson Morris is obviously on walking the tight Trope he has one yellow card left until he is suspended hopefully he doesn’t pick one up against Leeds because it’ be great for him to go back to his Boyhood team of Norwich um I think I’ve got all of them there I I can’t think of anyone else that would be missing right well bell bell still out didn’t he yeah and after adabo prior to Manu I think it was last season and then that was him out for a long time I I’ve since learned that just because it’s just before kickoff doesn’t make it any less likely to be a long layoff but fingers crossed it’s not he played both games didn’t he for for Jamaica so I believe um yeah I can’t count apparently when it comes to C Morris’s bookings um and I’m pleased I can’t count to five because um yeah as you say he’s hopefully he gets to go to to Norwich um and plays that game but he’s always useful it wasn’t his best game against Hull but we know how important he is um and I think those three players he me mentioned um Rob alluded to the fact that it was just precautionary and cramp so we’re hoping that those three are fit to to start or at least play some part in the game which is great news I I really think that Krauss is rapidly becoming um one of our most important players um and important so so important um especially in the Press going forward so yeah um that that’s positive news um and hopefully hashioka has had the break that he needs to get to make sure that Burke is he’s on the right side of that defense um if he starts rather than right wi back because you know playing right wi back against the speed of leads with Burke fills me with Dread so yeah um even hashi’s goingon to struggle but but Reese bur definitely so yeah we’ll talk about the danger men a bit later I think it’s willly Noto on that side or possibly man or Solomon I’m not even no man Solomon’s on the right it’ll be willly Noto up against Reese bur if he starts a right wing back up yeah are you right like uh Kamar had had Burke roasted many many times throughout that game against Hall so yeah I think you’re right and Marv camber is going to be an important one as well um I feel he’s got to get through at least 60 Minutes in this game or po possibly a 90 minute and have him play a bit more of a conservative role not pressing Beyond Elijah and Carlson in my opinion yeah abs absolutely it it’s got to be it’s got to be disciplined and that’s the problem at Bor we started really well for 30 minutes we moved the ball well um we lost all discipline and shape the moment that they they attacked and scored so yeah we do that against leads we’re going to be walking into trouble whoever we play one thing that’s good is to see 96 minutes or so in in Marv whether that means that he starts now on Wednesday um I don’t know you know this is the difficulty isn’t it three game week he’s not going to start all three games You’ probably think um I’d want him did back to back for Zimbabwe didn’t he though yeah he did um I think then it’s yeah he certainly did and it was great to see him start um and and play like we know he can he’s going to be the kind of player we need in order to to help shut the door against the team like leads but you know it just depends on how Edward sees the game and whether he sees Norwich as being the one if he can only play one of those two do we save him for Norwich we think realistically we we’ve got more of a chance of getting from the game getting something them from the game yeah but now it’s time to look to the Past it’s time to look at the previous encounters with leads [Music] United as always if you want to see every single game that Luen and Leeds have played you need to go to hass’s her game every single competitive meeting between Luton Town and leads United but for the purpose of this I’m looking at fot mob which I I wish I hadn’t even bothered looking at it because it shows three games and yeah obviously it it’s two leads wins one draw in those three um the most recent one being that 1-1 Ellen Road during lockdown where cornick scored the absolute Beauty yeah what a call that was um out of nowhere as well um the beginning of the Resurgence under Nathan Jones wasn’t it um and yeah and we held on in that game as well because they were banging at the door towards the end was that the game that one of their players complained that the fud lights got in his eyes yeah I swear remember that happening for actual real yeah I thought that was it BLC is it the yeah um the I suppose us Le have been in the same division much over the last few years have we no no I I think back to um when we were locking horns in the championship and it was actually the final game before that absolute devastating run of form um to so it went leads we beat leads 5-1 at the Kenny and then we went to Everton we lost 4-0 in the leag cup third round and then we had the wheels just came off on the pitch and off the pitch with all the agent stuff you know Mike new saying what he said and um and then going to IP switch and so Davis having a stroke um so I sort of associate that leads 51 with the the Calm before the storm but what a game that was yeah the one I was going to pick out as well I think kward scored at least one in that game it was um it was an amazing game I don’t know whether I’m wrong or not did we lose to I switch to the same score line was it 51 we lost made that up was it 5 nil I 5 the players were in a State of Shock modern modern day that wouldn’t have been played never game would have been called off of course um I think we we mentioned this after the Bournemouth game and and lo is um um heart attack cardiac arrest on the pitch um is that it was sort of similar that we’d NE you you’d never have you’d never play that now but um yeah that was an incredible game and and that was a sort of you know the end of the the the Glory Days of Mike new where we’d score outscore position for fun I think Norwich sticks in my head as well under those games we scool from the halfway line more or less um but yeah what a game that was and that’s the last one I remember as winning as well it’s not been a great record since then no it hasn’t um but you know history is there to be broken and records are there to be beaten so I guess we we’ll see what’s happened but leads have definitely had uh the better of the of the games against us for a while but now it’s time to kick it over to Phil he’s met with the opposition to get the low down on lead United take it away Phil thank you w and thank you Mark for handing over today I going to be speaking to a good friend of mine actually today I’m going to be interviewing Lee now Lee is not a podcaster but he’s a massive massive lead United fan to the extent where he is actually called leads his name says leads I’ll get him to explain that to you a little bit later but uh the guy absolutely loves Leeds United he’ll be absolutely loving life at the minute uh leads sit top of the table too clear on goal difference um they are very much going to be looking forward to hosting luten Town under the lights at Ellen Road on Wednesday night and truth be told they’re not going to be fearing anyone at the minute um even though they got pegged back to three all yesterday in the game against Swansea they still went ahead and took the three points so they’re absolutely loving life right now despite some difficulties which we’ll talk about ever so shortly as for Luton it was a three-point gained at the weekend um at kennworth Road and that that’s about the gist of it really um we battled our way to three points um Hull City fans could be forgiven for thinking that they’re very unlucky not to take a full three points the if things go the other side of the post you could very easily be looking at 3-1 loss Valu town but that didn’t happen and um over the moon to say that we moved thoroughly um up the table following those three points and it’s a bit of a freebie really I know that that shouldn’t necessarily be the mindset that we should have right now but the reality of it is that leads are flying I would argue that they’re favorites to go up um our away form is pretty poor um and when we’ve come up against some of the big guns the likes of Burnley the likes of Sheffield United the likes of Middlesboro we’ve taken a bit of a pounding unfortunately so this could be one of those moments in the season where if we take something away from home um against leads then we’ll be doing bloody well but um enough of me talking about Luton uh my part is to examine and have a little bit of a look at Leeds United so here’s what Lee had to say a little bit later on this [Music] evening so everyone as promised here is my lovely lovely friend Lee now there’s only two things wrong with Lee the first thing is that he supports leads and the second thing is that his hairlines running away from his eyebrows but other than that he’s the best guy I know how you doing Lee yeah good good introduction thank you for that um they say they say they say to never meet your Heroes but in your case you did and it’s been the best thing um so no you’re not wrong about that you’re not wrong about that but no I was wondering how long it would take and it took you two seconds so well done I’ve got the power I’ve got the power and you told me what you were going to say so I was like I’m all over that um yeah in all seriousness mate thank you for steeping in it’s one of those ones where no no it’s pleasure it’s pleasure yeah leads fans of I’m sure track down like they don’t want to speak to us they W paying I’m sure they I’m sure they looked at their inbox saw um Len requesting to have a bit of their time and F Len you’re probably not far off that’s the problem so but in in the introduction I did Lee I um I said to the guys about the fact that your name is actually like leads so um they can sit they they know that your name’s le le sharp but yeah was that a family thing that um that you were named leads yeah so I’ve got an uncle that’s named is David um and obviously my sort dad’s um last name Sharp and Lee sharp happened to sign I think about two years before I was born I was born in 98 I think sharp signed um 98 no you wer 96 no 88 sorry um but yeah no he said and and he had always liked him so he um saw the opportunity just to turn around to my mom be like oh well you know sort of what about naming him Lee um and oh yeah we could put your uncle your brother’s name David in the middle and sort of the initials being leads so yeah well that’s rumor has it that’s the reason um wonderful and so yeah kind of always believed it so yeah lovely kind no choice no choice no choice but to support them lovely no I love that I love that but um anyway let’s talk about some football so you’re just off back of a 4-3 win yesterday so it was a bit of a sketchy one it was one of those ones where I thought that I was going to message you saying you’ll take a point away from home in Wales but you got the job done so what did you think of the game um I I think it highlighted the current issues that we’ve got um and I have to admit for first time watching it um was the first time I thought to myself Elan Melia does concede a lot of goals doesn’t he um I’ve always you know sort of backed him backed him always brilliant with his feet and he is a good shot stopper um but he does concede a lot of goals and you know sort of more seem to go past him um and sort of be saved at times he never has those S game-winning matches where he sort of gets you the points I’ve never really known him to get that so that was kind of a concern I had I mean I think um heart of the team’s being ripped out a bit so kind of expecting it not to be brilliant at the moment um but yeah get the win is is super and I was really chust to see Solomon um you know sort of getting a couple of go goals and I really hope he kicks on now um because he should be storming it in that League he’s you know he’s he’s one of the you know should be in the top six Prem team um he had his injuries just needs to get a bit of confidence back and hopefully Kicks On from here really and we can see the best of him there’s a couple but always nice to get a win in Wales um because yeah just beating the Welsh is is just the best thing isn’t it yeah it’s one of the few times that I can actually agree with you go we beat a Welsh team as well we haven’t played swans yet but we beat Cardiff so we did our bit so far but you saying about like the the sort of Team being a little bit depleted at the minute and I’m guessing you’re talking about the center of the Midfield because youve you’re missing gruev and ampadu and they were the sort of Lynch pins in the middle there I mean gruev you’ve spoken to be a number of times about gruev you love the guy um but ‘s like properly important as a captain as well so um oh massively yeah who’s been sort of taking the taking the reigns with those two out um I think the the Japanese chat then tan Tanaka Tanaka um Tanaka he he’s been he’s been like grev in a sense um he’s you know s very you’re just a ball winner just go get the ball back um do something simple with it distribution um he’s been really really good I think Rothwell is fine you know he he drives forward a lot but he just seems to be a bit of a one trick po he gets the ball he drive predominantly towards the left of the pitch um and then you know sort of lay off to lay off to a Winger and but they’re both doing super and I think to be honest um it’s the first time that I really you know sort of hats off to farc in a sense um because top of the league with them two out I think is and considering the players that we sold as well um you know I think rout to go in was a shame because of the people we had already lost but tell any lead’s fans we ever thought we’d get 40 million or money back for routa you never ever would have like fought it so I think that a good bit of business um yeah I mean I do struggle to listen to farc at times during his interviews my mind always goes to the film Frozen that character big some blow um I do struggle to listen to him at times but yeah I think I was really disappointed obviously last year um they went on a great run and and just sort of bottled it at the end ultimately and there’s no other really words for they were a polling they lost to QPR like 3 and0 I think it was it was just dire um so yeah this this year doing really really well um it’ll be nice I think am’s back in the start of the year um so it’ll be nice to see nice to see him back and it’s good to see um that r r ramazani on the on the on the bench as well can never get his last name right it’s a bit of a tongue twister just lar just a bit just a bit well I mean the thing is like when I hear farer I always think of the the little German pigs from Shrek so it’s interesting that he’s got a whole bunch of animated characters that he sounds like and he doing excellent you’re doing an excellent impression as well you’re not going to get your high pitch German is astonishing yeah we’re not going to see that we’re not going to see that but the going back to the sort of team I mean the the thing that I’ve been quite impressed with because you said as well like you didn’t even mentioned Somerville but and I think that in a weird way at the back end of last season there was an over Reliance on him to do something brilliant to to sort of help out help out the team and obviously you lost him but youve got arenson back you’ve got Dan James that’s playing most games you’ve got Solomon those three sort of compliment in a striker and at the moment it’s Peru and but the start of the Season it was mattio Joseph and but what what’s your sort of opinions on on Piru and do you prefer to see Joseph up there do you think that we’ll see Joseph get back in the team um so I was tough to I was tough to see Joseph starting at the start of the season um and excited I really for cuz he’s always done so well for the Spain under 21s for instance like he’s just a goal merch now the under 21 level um so I was really and end of last year we were all screaming for him to be starting um instead of whoever is starting at the time um but we were all sort of screaming for him so it was lovely to see him starting at the start of the season but he just didn’t get the goals it just just wasn’t scoring um he was doing all the other bits right but he just wasn’t sort of scoring so I think so that was a bit disappointing and I think Peru is a very good finisher um so I’m not disappointed to see him up top at the moment because he is a good he just doesn’t get He’s just never in the right place at the right time enough for me um you know soort of he doesn’t really get so we’ve got nonto James Solomon these players that you just mentioned you know Championship level you know that’s enough um creativity and um you know s of getting enough chances but so yeah he’s just lead should have a player scoring 20 plus goals with ease and we just never really got that sort of quality finisher in the team um even sort of when we went up to the Prem we never so yeah I mean you could always call upon the services of old floppy Patrick Bamford oh Lord how PG is this um podcast you mentioned you’re mentioning banford to a leads fan like are we allowed to swear do we have to watch our language what’s the rules it feel keep it relatively PG but you can call him a floppy useless idiot if you want I mean just I don’t think there’s any other words than swearing he got an England ca he got CA at level Patrick Bamford got capped for England Marcel biosa must have that on his CV and be able to get any job in World football if he wanted like it’s mindboggling he is a PO I hope his contract’s up at the end of the year um I really really do whenever he scores whenever he used to score I always used to think he he miscued it anyway um it’s not really what he meant to do um yeah we’ve relied on him for way too long and I’ll be Chu to see him go Rex him couldn’t have him they they’re like spending a lot on wages don’t they they can they can have someone that’s you know well past their Prime you never could stay in the championship next year with him and the if they come up yeah let’s bloody let’s hope not e let’s hope not I think I done really well there not to swear by bford to a leads fan he did very very well well I’m very proud of you man very proud of you um and in terms of like the rest of the team I mean like I’ve you’ve got I didn’t even know that verba was back but I I thought that he just disappeared off the face of the Earth like has he been getting games time other than this weekend not so much so he’s I think I’d speak for most lead’s fans with this whole lone Clause stuff um I think he’s in the same category as arenson I know he’s playing and he’s starting um but they both think him and V verber can leave and I wouldn’t be remotely bothered um it’ll be chuff a bits to sort of see the back of them really um they both you know clearly wanted sort of go weren’t really committed yes yes ainon playing but I just don’t think he’s s he he balloons 90% of the chances he should finish anyway vber um he won’t get in that Center back um he’s not gonna um get in ahead of um Pascal strug or Joe rhon no way and I think U would drop into Center of Defense before him and you know rothell and Tanaka come in left back he’s got a chance because let’s be honest fairpo gets suspended five games yeah every five games he’ll get a suspension for five yellow cards and so then verba can play at left back because we’ve not seen we made signning Schmid at left back and he just hasn’t seemed to really come in or do anything yet so I think you’ll get a few games at left back or coming on Off the Bench be amazed if he starts he starts for Austria a lot um but I don’t know what Austria’s options at Center back are like they might be aing so well they’ve got David ala so they’ve got some decent decent players so like yeah yeah just one of those ones is it it’s just it’s just a weird situation with him but uh and the last play I’m going to mention as well because they haven’t mentioned him yet and I mentioned about that sort of three that sort of compliment the front player scored the winning goal yesterday nonto like is he likely to reckon lovely little man isn’t he um Willie yeah yeah he yeah he was bit of love hate wasn’t it sort of a year or so ago with him um but yeah love him bits um I think he’ll start I think he didn’t start um because you know s of just International J I think he played a lot for the Italy under 21s um but yeah he’ll he he I can imagine he’ll start against Luton I think um I’d like to think that Solomon will play again with nonto on the other Wing but I’m not sure if Solomon can do a couple of games in you know quick succession just yet um not sure if his Fitness is just there um so we’ll see but yeah I hope he starts um yeah I mean for yourselves I’m sure sure Sort Of You’ you’d prefer it not to um yeah he he is good this this week we played Four center backs across the back so it’s like he’s trying trying to be Man City or Arsenal I think it was also through necessity like D’s out D’s out until the new year yeah Bell dropped out as a last minute thing before the game so we had ree Burke on the right at right back we had mangit left back with mcginness and Holmes in the middle now the thought of Solomon and nonto and Dan James breezing past those is a real real worry for me um yeah yeah I get that I mean you know sort of ultimately leads sort of have dictated all the games they’ve played but they give chances away dead balls you know sort of free kicks what l a stronger at a bio up front is a absolute unit um and you well get chances and that kind of takes me back to Melia with regards to I just don’t think he commands enough he’s still you know although he’s got his puberties you know has kicked in for him and he’s got a bit of facial hair now um I do think I do feel that um he just doesn’t command the Box enough so you’ll get opportunities absolutely that’s the problem if yeah I know yeah it’s a rate that we win the ball back and things like that I think um you know you haven’t it’s been unfortunate you haven’t you know sort of had the return to Championship you would have wished um sorry you haven’t had the return to Championship you would have wished but it’s one of those ones where like I say I think the difficult thing is you know I speak to all the time like we lost the absolute middle of our Midfield like you every all the sort of things that Barkley and Lona gave us we’ve we’ve lost and we don’t really utilize our Midfield yet like we’ve got a new fell that’s that we bought and he’s starting for us back uh in January he was like um shown to us at the pitch the weekend um called lamin fan um so I’m I think there’s a lot of Hope for him but at the moment we’re playing quite a lot of simple football where it goes from Back to Front quite quick but the problem is it goes from front to back quite quick and with the the fiddly little players that you’ve got that got real skill on the ball it could be quite an interesting one but that that brings me to my last question what do you think the score is going to be um I don’t think we’ll blow you away I think in terms of the stats will’ll blow you away but I don’t think the score line will um I think it will be two-nil leads um yeah like I said I think you know um we don’t seem to yes we scored four goals against Swansea um but I think that was more through necessity um because you know they got the free against us um yeah if you were to score I think it’ be from a dead bull odd Corner free kick something like that so everyone that was my mate Lee um he took the banter very very well he’s a top top lad and uh really really pleased to have him on um he knows his stuff about leads um he thinks they’re going to win um I think that he knows the team he knows how they’re going to play he knows that they’re going to be probably dominant in virtually every area of the game uh and he’s kind of hoping that they get the job done and that our big Lads um don’t punish him from set pieces he’s clearly really worried about meler as well which I thought was quite interesting because his name hasn’t sort of popped up to my knowledge as a as a real concern other than that gigantic fluff that he did earlier on in the season where the ball just Spann the wrong way um so I guess he’s a bit of a Calamity but we we just have to test him let’s see see what we can do but um he’s got down leads 2-nil um I know that the lads have had all their predictions for the sluger 6 so check out uh okay football show on our socials and you before we play leads I mean where do we start um James um for me just the pace down that side without Alfie D is quite scary isn’t it yeah I mean Willie nto came on and scored he’s amazing mattio Joseph’s not been playing that well recently but we saw at the start of the Season what he can do yeah pretty much any of them to be honest apart from meslier who I’m hoping he’ll just throw one in his own net like he did against Sunderland um yeah they’re all terrifying yeah mattio Joseph he’s got Pace as well like uh and one thing hopefully M will be up against him because mang’s pretty much only one in our backline with Pace um Tanaka Tanaka AO Tanaka you know he he’s filling it very well from Ethan ampadu and he can thread a ball he can win a Midfield battle I’m very worried about him because that’s why we need Marv nber there you know I much rather Marv do another 90 they need to get rested for Norwich because I’m I’m dreading that I’m really dreading it um but that was our take on the danger man now it’s time for score predictions [Music] okay so I don’t know why I was so optimistic and and perky during that segue because I’m I’m bricking this I’m bricking it for this game um genuinely I’ve gone two nil leads uh that is purely based in Hope of the fact that leads tend to you know if you play dead leads kind of back off and they don’t really try and you know score threes fours and fives well at least I don’t think they have this season so far so that’s my rationale for a two-nil you just hope we just lay in the center circle like a posum please uh I’m not that scared about it because I feel like the pressure’s off which is quite nice and it’s a nice feeling as a Lo fan where it’s clearly all been on our shoulders but yeah there are there are ways to lose a game and if we lose a game like we did against burrow that that’s not going to help anybody and there’s every chance of that happening I guess though that even if the best loon turnup then I would still back leads to probably beat us at home uh I’ve gone 3-1 um I I think I think Leeds will will score I mean they scored four in the last game away from home and yeah all right they only won it 43 because Swansea were fantastic in that game as well um and count themselves unlucky but Luton have shown nothing away from home all season but particularly recently um and I I can’t see anything other than a relatively convincing leads win I just hope that you know the fight that was missing against bur is there against leads and we can hold our heads High afterwards and go into Norwich with a bit of confidence whatever that really looks like so in that way I’m not that worried am I looking forward to watching it no I’m I’m not um but yeah let’s just hope that they will almost certainly score um and and when they do that we we we react to it a lot better than we did when Bor scored and when centry scored in the previous game um by just you know heads dropping and everything else so fingers crossed the fight from hollers has helped with that a bit so so well said I just hope that isn’t a complete capitulation I guess we’ll see what happens and hopefully this is a corner turned as Gary sweet said in his boardroom notes they’re been very constru Ive conversation so we’ll go from there and we’re all behind the team we just want to see fight desire we want to see the team actually making an effort fighting for the ball I guess we’ll see what happens but that’s it for us this week and I’m sure we’ll see you again for the Norwich preview and also the championship game week 17
