career one thing we haven’t seen you do is is fight were you as maybe surprised as anyone that that came to FR um yeah I mean he didn’t like the hit apparently and um was going T night saw he kind of cross check there and obviously he was going to regroup and kind of came off to me a couple cross checks and you know it’s just kind to happen and uh you know we’re uh not taking from anybody so it’s kind of where transpired and just kind of escalated did you did you know it was him the whole time or do you almost do a double take when realize who it is that’s kind of chasing no I knew it was I mean yeah it’s Everybody Plays there’s nobody different out there it’s it’s the hocke hockey players you know as for the I guess he didn’t like the hit um would you call it a reverse hit I mean you’re probably you’re bracing for contact I guess there and he ends up getting the worst of it yeah kind of just what it looked like right yeah um yeah there’s hit could that just be a situation you’ve seen guys try and fire their team up and stuff maybe some frustration on his part like you almost look at it that yeah for sure um they uh definitely came out a lot harder than the third um you know whether that was a message that the coach sent in between periods I’m sure it was whether it was a leadership group um you know they obviously came out and felt they needed to prove something uh playing physical and um you know give them credit they you know they played hard there in the third and um whatever it was uh you know I think I think for us to be able to weather that storm and um you know persevere and you know kind of kind of get contributions from from everybody up up and down I think it was a full team win um you know that’s kind of been the story of this team the whole year I know you’ve never fought in the NHL can did you ever fight in college or have you ever fought before anyway um got a couple brothers so if you count that how did you think you you did held your own ah yeah sure um you actually have a Gordy how hatrick with the empty net uh I’m sure that wasn’t going through your mind but uh wear that a little bit with a badge of honor sure yeah it’s um you know obviously pretty cool that you know you don’t go into a game really achieving or looking for and um you know the guys were coming back you know obviously hoting holl when uh I got the EMP that and let me know and obviously I was aware of it um and yeah it was it was a cool moment to share and um you know happy we were able to get the win just two more quick ones but the pass uh to Gabe I mean again there’s not a whole lot of time and space here but we’ve seen you make that pass with Gabe he gets off a really nice shot just an example I guess of the power play really coming together right yeah I think just being able to be so diverse uh the way we attack and um you know especially teams that are playing that diamond they they pressure out a ton and we got to use the middle of the ice and you know gab’s been G’s been great um you know we’ve been kind of working on that play he’s been fing the space and um you know you can see him almost trying to step down and then kind of pause and and sit back and he uh he found that I mean that great spot there and I just I kind of f it in there and he obviously did the rest and just last one but uh when you’re starting a long road trip nice to get get a goal and it’s the Lowry line who they can kind of set the tempo for you guys right 82 seconds and couldn’t ask for a better start I mean yeah it’s uh you know anytime you can start a road trip on a good note especially this long one um you know that’s kind of been the identity of of our team and you know they they get to their game and they kind of set the tone for a lot of a lot of us and um you know Neo’s been been around the net and you know we we know his hands close close than that they make a turnover he’s going to he’s going to make you pay and um you know they they were great tonight and you know just controlling the pace of the game and um you know it seems like every night we’re relying on them a lot more and more right on thanks if I can just [Music] keep on your birthday in the NHL I haven’t I didn’t look back you know I don’t think so okay I don’t think so usually not the best games on my birthday so today was good yeah and I mean uh that’s sort of the second effort there right Nick makes the nice pass and then you’re uh obviously just follow up on your own shot yeah um kind of not the best shot on the first one but kind of continued my momentum and was laying there so just kind of whacked that and went in right um kind of the story of this team getting contributions up and down obviously you get the goal right off the Hop uh from Adam’s line and a power play goal just sort of similar ingredients to success coming through tonight yeah I think that’s the what our team’s built on I we can rely on you know a different line contributing every every night and you know LA’s line you know kind of set the tempo today and from there everyone started rolling all four lines and I thought we played pretty good for 60 minutes and then got the win I know he didn’t uh initiate it but he certainly was a willing participant what does it doe for the bench in the room when you know your leading scorer C Connor’s dropping the gloves yeah that was awesome um I don’t know Crosby wasn’t happy with something and just two stars going out it was uh pretty fun to watch and and you know Casey is a feisty guy so um you know whenever he’ll you know he’ll step in for himself or a teammate um he’ll he’ll get in there and get gritty yeah we’ve seen examples of that right Mark last week in Florida with heck plad and just kind of guess shows that every guy is invested right yeah yeah we have a bunch of guys that are feisty and just the you know will to win and set the tone and you know get dirty and fight sometimes so um well we all stand there for each other and uh fight for each other right now [Music] hey heyyyy [Music] heyy [Music] [Music] [Music] hey [Music] [Music] you obviously want to get off on the right foot and no surprise that it’s the Lowry applon neita ride line that kind of gets things going yeah uh you know you knew that uh you know Pittsburgh was uh you know going to come out and they’re going to get after us and um thought we did a great job that’s a great start get some back on their heels and maybe you know some negative thoughts whatever it might be but just like the way uh first couple of periods went actually we played a pretty good road game to get things started yeah probably could have had a few more early in that first period um obviously the the third period I guess you’re expecting a push from a proud Penguins team right and you kind of got it no they weren’t going to go away and I said anytime uh Sid Crosby’s a captain of any team he’s going to he’s going to get his groups to to go hard and uh um they did they we got back we got a little bit sloppy um you know we were you know not quite as sharp as we were the first two periods we kind of we had some opportunities to get pucks out and didn’t kind of just led him a little bit more his own time and but at the end of the day uh you know you can’t over critique a road wi you mentioned Sydney Crosby so when a guy like Kim is dropping the gloves and and on your end a guy like Kyle Connor your top scorer um I guess what does that say to the rest of the group what does that do to the the bench in the room well you know Sid’s trying to fire his group up and drag them into the fight um you know for KC uh he’s just trying to create now create space You know guys won’t come near him now that they can see that can he’ll drop him but I do not want to see that I’m great that he got a gordal hat trip but I do not want to see my top goal scorer Dro in the gloves I mean that uh but that’s just the compete in casy and uh you know it’s one of those things that nobody expected it just it’s just part of the game right um one doubt I know you were asked the other day about Mark shley not taking very many draws and Gabe doing it it was really pronounced tonight is that just Mark deferring again or just Mark deferring right now he’s just he’s just sharing the love to he just and then Gabe goes six for six you know on the first period and so I just think it became a little bit of a habit so Mark is uh is otherwise okay gave really good at face off um Power Play uh maybe didn’t like probably didn’t like the first one didn’t didn’t get a whole lot going but you get a big goal obviously and then didn’t take long and that’s an example right of just the all the threats and yeah you know I think there was five times where off the draw we won it Pittsburgh went after us hard with their pressure uh in five times we kind of relieved the pressure to the point where you know um fly through that one cross ice to KC and then it just became we now we got them stretched out a little bit and that opened up the middle of the ice and that was just a great shot by gave just last one for me but you your motto Mantra has always been kind of quickly move on even after a victory really have to do it here CU you’re playing in less than 24 hours right yeah yeah going into obviously Nashville big rival big divisional team that we haven’t seen and you know they they come just coming off a road trip uh uh yeah there’s not a love lot of love loss between us and we just got to get get ourselves out of here and get ready uh we’ll look at the film and get ready to go with those guys tomorrow and this seems to be a theme lately of running into teams that aren’t in a good mood they I think they had a bit of a scuffle at their practice today which probably tells you they’re kind of ready to go right I would say that uh you know when you go into anybody uh Home Building they’re they’re going to be fired up obviously we’re coming in with a pretty good record we’re not getting anybody’s easy games everybody’s ready for us and it just means that we got to be that much harder that that much more prepared and being ready to go again Scott the only one for me to go back to toid he’s going to create but he ends up with without a shot on goal just what could you say about the effort uh of your guys to kind of minimize some other well when special players are on the ice and and Sid being one of them everybody kind of has their Radars up and you’re trying to keep them uh those guys as far away from the net as possible you’re trying to get in get into their hands get into their body not allow him to get the get to the parts of the ice that they like to get to and uh it’s no secret we we try not to give him any space whether that’s McDavid or McKinnon those elite players the more they uh feel comfortable the more they’re able to play their game they’re harder to shut down and just uh um you know we you know I got so much respect for Sid and it just uh you know it’s tough you see what he’s going through here but at the end of the day um you know we had a job to do and we got it done thank you
