Liverpool manager say that a lot don’t we this season the Victorious Liverpool manager I was just introducing you as that things just keep on getting better but um but you were made to think a little bit weren’t you after that opening goal from Leicester that that kind of went against a very quick start from you yeah yeah sounds weird but I think we had a really good start because we were threatening them uh for 6 minutes but then one moment where we underestimated the situation uh immediately led to a chance and a goal and then uh yeah you have to um you have to work really hard to come back in the game and I think in the end we were I wouldn’t say lucky but it it really helped SC The Equalizer just before half time yeah we just had Cody gakpo in the studio talking about actually the fact you have conceded I think first three in the last five Premier League games and he said his words were a little bit sloppy perhaps just not kind of uh turning off a little bit at times yeah but but is he being hard on you and it works both ways so uh the first games we already also conceded one or two chances but those ones didn’t wi in and last few games almost every chance we concede goes in this is in a in a season it’s quite normal uh for me it’s the most important thing is how many chances do we give away during the game and I think there was a second one over here in the second half but that that were the only two times they came even close to creating a chance or having a chance and in my opinion we’ve created enough but yeah because we went one n down it was for a long time it was a game uh before we made the fre1 one and I think then you saw maybe how good we are because they they didn’t try to come back in the game they just wanted to was that gakpo goal almost perfect in the fact that it took from Allison to the goal 14 seconds and went through four passes is is that the kind of thing that just makes you Pur I said to the fourth official uh because I I said to him before in the first half a few times listen it’s not only for the for the time you add on but every time we have momentum and if they are on the floor pretend to our injures that brings momentum out of the game and in this situation it was on the other end where they couldn’t lie on the floor and we could just take it quickly and that helped us by scoring a goal I liked the second goal even more because that was for me a real team goal um with the overlapping run but this is yeah this is partly um also what we want we want to bring our Wingers as most as often as we can in threatening situations it happened more than a few times plan to overload on the S and give back to full back and then cross a lot because in the first especially first half you get the ball to Salah gako back to a fullback and then cross and cross and cross was that the plan yeah no plan it’s it’s our playing style so if they have a One V one take it on if they bring two players towards the ball it’s about the fullbacks that are invol have to be involved then and actually I said during halftime that we don’t always have to cross it in then maybe we play it to the other side because Trend was if he would adjust his position a bit he could have been free to have a shot because their left Winger mostly became the fifth Defender because in the second half you had more runs from Midfield in between the fullback and the center back and then not that many cross but then you feed it off the the uh the Midfield play which I think was more effective in that way because yeah no deep runs are probably the most important thing in football so uh you don’t even always have to play the player that makes the Deep runs but then you can create maybe a bigger one V one situation for your Winger so yeah the more deep r you make you more chance you have to win a game AR congratulations is it that feeling that now the title is for you to lose rather than to win oh interesting question uh I I I don’t look at it that way I it’s a bit boring answer but as as a manager like you know uh you you go game by game and you know how many games you have still have to play and you can see especially in the Premier League that you see sometimes results where like I didn’t expect that but you can expect this because so many teams have so much quality so it’s not well like I said if if this would have happened in the air Division I probably would have felt like okay this is true what you are saying now in this competition well extraordinary things are happening the Manchester City are 14 points off you now at the beginning of November you’re a point behind them so you know things can move quickly in this division as you’re seeing and players are a week from now potentially three of your key players able to talk to other clubs um so I’ve got to ask you the question about those three players uh Trent Virgil and mosal of course who scored against again tonight uh where are you at with those conversations I can answer for him I know what it’s going to say every press conference say I say the same yeah yeah no I think um that’s what John is saying John AR is saying um we second post like a cross or a shot and it might go in and I think this a shot obviously and it’s is perfect executed but it’s just a space he creates for himself and and the confence his shows he goes just knows what he’s doing yeah technique I think is is a competition between him and moella who can actually bend it into that top top Gins every time so I think they’ve got a little competition they have in training and they’re taking it into the games I think if there is one aspect that Ruth valis would have said to his fullback you just don’t give him time to come in tight to his right foot and you can see how did that space appear that when you see maalis the Run he makes the space he just leaves wings with two options he needs to be becoming a little bit the man to try to stop Capco finishing or following the run and that’s what Liverpool did very very well in that second half Curtis Jones on his 100th Premier League appearance for Liverpool a big milestone for you personally I seen a text off klopp um and he said congrats on a 100 game and ha turned 500 or something like that I was like what’s you on about 100 like you know I’m more than that that’s what I 40 me appearances um so then yeah I just checked in the Instagram and yeah 100 Prem Prem game yeah um proud absolutely proud yeah it’s fascinating today that he was aware of it but I suppose not surprising in a way why that’s cuz he’s on Instagram and so we get to see it no but yeah that’s what he’s like um he’s still in touch with with with the whole team um you know he’s a great man he still loved off us um and yeah it was him who set who set up the team now that then we’ve got the foundation was all was was there already um and SLO just he just carrying it on when he man have gone but he can’t keep out the headlines there’s no surprise to you before they know what’s required and uh and if you’re a Liverpool fan I think you’re in safe hands with the uh with the squad now the manager on the other hand yes he’s won a league title but not in the Premier League I mean the questions could be put to the manager you know is as he got the attributes he’s certainly showing that he has so far um but these players they’ve all they’ve all done it before this is virtually the same Squad that that Jurgen klopp left him um so I don’t think there’s any worries from from a player’s point of view and I think you’re right you’ve hit the now on the head to Uni’s opportunity here for Liverpool because when ARA slot arrived he would have said listen finish above P Guardiola and and you’ve done the job because they’ll be they’ll be the team to catch or be right around you they couldn’t have envisaged this situation at not even halfway no probably not but I but I do think you know it was interesting when he said you know the manager tweaks our tactics every game you know people labeling manager or you have to have a style of play Liverpool play different almost every game depending on what it needs that’s your point me is it yeah and our team could do that whatever it needed you know and I think and better than the other team and I like that about this Liverpool team they’re very versatile very flexible and I think they can do pretty much anything that the game dictates but the biggest thing for me is the reason ARS Chelsea won’t win it they don’t have any experience like Liverpool Allison van djk Trent Robertson Salah you got five guys that have been there and done it as Mo said for years Arsenal I’m amazed that they haven’t addressed that they’re this close but they need need three or four of those guys in their team if they get them they’ll win the league I really believe that Mo right Chelsea are too young and maybe in two years time they’ll be there but this Liverpool team is perfectly set up got a real mix of young players brilliant front three but actually because they can play different every game they’re going to be hard to stop let’s remind ourselves of the order of events because you said they got a a shot to the system after 6 minutes but responded well after this yeah they did they did um I mean Leicester played particularly well I thought they were quite Brave did defended all right and they counterattacked well I thought Vergil van djk could have prevented this at source in many way well not at source but but secondly we I’ll just highlight him here and I think if he just drops three or four yards he can always get out to daaka if need be but he can actually prevent this ball he just stops that ball he takes a little touch I mean the ball’s not whipped in it comes slowly he just takes touch there and and passes it out I think positionally he’ll be a little bit disappointed and then Andy Robertson just gets strengthed off the ball really vir van Dy gets back in and the ball Clips him and and uh and it’s a unfortunate goal to concede from Liverpool’s point of view but it was good start from Leicester then Liverpool had to show their metal I mean you know that energy it’s these games come thick and fast now and to to keep finding that energy to go again and go again and keep pressing um there was a question mark there certainly after the first five or 10 minutes but you know they rarely let you down especially at anfield the C crowd get behind them they put in a performance they get the crowd back up and and it sort of it sways and and they both feed off each other in many ways we shouldn’t have uh worried as Owen said even though they scored one you still expected them to to steamroll with them in the end yeah and Andy Robertson himself hit the post um so did Mo Salah hit in the bar and then as I said the timing of gpo’s equalizer was a sickening one from leicester’s point of view wasn’t it yeah I mean thing is as well it’s just there’s no pressure on the ball between the lines as most to out sign forward passes but how can you let this guy get it on his right foot these guys are too good you know obviously I think the the overlapping run probably you know helps that in a way you know but such a good finish that I honestly he is so underrated Cody GPO I mean why do you think that is I don’t know he’s having a great season he’s honestly I remember even when he was there was a bit of criticism when he when he first come he’s about 63 he’s quick he’s an amazing dribbler he’s a good finisher you know he’s good header of the ball I don’t know I don’t see a flaw in his game you know and I just think he’s he’s such an underrated player I mean Shota gets goals gakpo gets goals Mo’s obviously the king but I think gakpo is is is really special he has as well he yeah but I think gakpo now has played himself into the front three big time you know if there was a Champions League final tomorrow yeah yeah had yeah yeah be Diaz and M wouldn’t it yeah Diaz Salah and and gapo I think now yeah yeah I think he’s done particularly well this season I think he’s at the Forefront but just going to Owen’s point I mean we’re getting to we’ve been in the stage for for many years now where wide players are all inverted Wingers they’re all left footed playing on the right right foot playing on the left we see gpo’s goal there we’ll see MOS salah’s goal later on we’ll see mosalah cutting in and hit in the crossbar with a left foot why do Defenders keep showing players inside onto their strong foot it’s it’s it’s just incredible my biggest it’s prob my biggest goal again it’s just send it there’s a minute to go of the first half send him out wide you know you’ve got two of two of the best headers of the ball in the Premier League defensively in the middle there let them go wide and let them cross it we’ll just keep nodding it out if you’re you know Connor Cody it’s like yo thank you very much another cross I had another one don’t show them inside onto their strong foot I mean it’s there for all to see we got the most intelligent Sports Science and and you know data people that showing them surely and then 2 minutes later it’s well 2 minutes before was moal as I say onto the crossbar find it very strange that they play to to Liverpool strength in particular yeah B honestly the attackers are getting better Defenders are getting worse maybe that’s cuz they’re all trying to play out so they don’t defend anymore but one of the most basic things you’ll ever learn is if he’s right footed one way he’s going left and these guys all come inside you see sacka do it every week you see Mo Salah do it every week it is honestly it’s mind-blowing if you’re going to go one way it needs to be on on the weaker foot and again I know these guys are good and they can get there and they drop a shoulder but I just think defending is is is a slightly lost start that’s why when you see a guy like V van djk you can appreciate him CU he would that would never happen to him or very rarely that was right on the stroke of the first half four minutes into the second half Curtis Jones after somewhat of a forensic check yeah made it 2-1 in his 100th Premier League appearance what a lovely goal it was lovely move yeah there was a little tackle if there wasn’t a little touch there but I’m aester player we would have been counting the passes here Steve I love the pace on the pass um you know I love Jones getting into the box and getting into dangerous areas lots of people can just stay out and hang on the edge of the box and wait for the cut back but he gets in there and I love the Finish he didn’t need to smack it he just guided it he used the pace of the Cross you know sometimes it’s best taking away Pace on the ball when a ball fizzes at you then control it as you say there was a little bit of there was a lot to look at wasn’t there was a lot lot of offside potential offside so I don’t I don’t blame V necessarily for for looking at it forensically um but the problem was there was another one later on the also there was two or three instances where they had to check So eventually it was about seven six seven minutes of V checking which was a little bit over the top let’s say but that was a brilliant goal great passing goal and a lovely finish at the end of it you know what’s amazing about Liverpool they get about eight guys in the Box I’ve not seen a team this season get that many players from open Play In The Box good luck as a as a defending team this there’s just too many guys in there they just over that’s why the goals are all spread out outside of Mo because there’s just so many guys in there and Curtis Jones does that brilliantly arrives really late but they’re just they’re so good to watch Liverpool right now you’d have to say isn’t it amazing though the balance that they have because they can have seven or eight players in the box yet they always seem secure at the back you never think oh they’re taking a risk here and of course they are taking risks I mean back in the day you always have one or two more Defenders than there are attackers Liverpool are happy to go one-on-one you know they’re happy with Gomez they’re happy with Van djk they’ve got Pace strength we’ll go one-on-one against anybody which is a great thing to have and it means you can be even Bolder going forward and that’s why they create so many chances yeah so another goal for you that jgen clar would have that Humane touch with a with a boy that he brought through and gave his debut to at 17 yeah I mean obviously J knew probably what he was going to be that’s why he gave him the chance but he’s such a confident young man cus Jones isn’t he I mean you know I think as a the position that he plays he’s going to score a ton of goals in in this team because he’s a proper flare player you he’s he’s kind of he’s a bit of a throwback anymore technically can play in the ball anywhere but again another guy great size good finisher I mean I can’t believe that 23 years old 100 Premier League games that’s that’s that’s brilliant at a big club that that’s a good number and he was more of an attacking player you know coming through the youth round much more of an attacking player than he is now and you can see it in his play aren you he’s he’s actually comfortable um but whenever Curts Jones plays he seems to be one of the three Midfield players that was never the case in the academy he was always one of the three front players um so he has got goals in him he has got assists in him he’s not a wide player is he he not quick enough he not no but he’s he was always an attacking player now he’s had got a lot more discipline let’s say since he’s been in the in the Liverpool team and newgen klopp probably instilled a lot of that in him um and full credit to him you know when you’ve got such a good team such a good start and L very hard to blood youngsters through the academy and Liverpool have had such a good team for so many years now you know to to break through and to be part of a squad and good enough to be part of the squad I mean who can get through who can break through the academy and and take verge of Van dijk spot or Mo Alis but nobody can it’s I mean it’s so difficult it’s all right getting through the academy at you know Southampton or or Leicester or wherever you know that it’s hard enough at those types of clubs but Liverpool so fair play him 100 Premier League games coming through at the toughest of times when you’ve got the best team that Liverpool have had in a long long time is is a real feather in his cap okay so a little festive quiz question for you eight Liverpool players have scored on their 100th Premier League appearance could you just give me one of the others he’s got to be one obviously exctly at the same level than the players that they start I think this is a very strong Squad and when you when you hear the players speak there is a very very healthy competition there’s a very strong Spirit we talking about maybe losing three players because they are out of contract I think that’s been a very good uh approach just to create there is no nobody’s got given anything for granted you need to earn it and I think that SP even you can cope with with with a few injuries I don’t think that would be an issue I think that’s like you said that the backos they have so good players on the bench but there I think there’s only one player I will say if he’s get injured it’s going to make Li prob F I think he’s so important the team that if he’s get injured for a long time I think Li could struggle more than I do now if they lose someone else he makes a 15% difference to win right and that was in the Gabriel piece he’s he’s so important not just as a player but lifting the other players around him and the confidence he gives away and to the the teammates so I think he’s the only player I feel that if he gets injured for he’s the odard or the rodri for this team is he yeah I would say so obviously different positions in terms of the importance you always have players that probably you haven’t got a replacement for it is not that what how important they are is that the replace is not the same style if you want but when you watch in this Liverpool side they they defending with 11 players they defend very quickly they defend high up they give themselves a lot advantages in in anything that they do I think in general I don’t think there’s another team in Europe now playing with the same confidence today you go one n down they never lost the confidence they never lost the belief that almost overtakes any individual performances
