got up and down the court 78 possessions so it was a fast-paced game not exactly the most aesthetically pleasing brand of basketball not what we were hoping for guy what did you take away from this one it was sloppy basketball um I think the first 35 minutes of this game convinced me pretty pretty well that Indiana is gonna win the basketball game on Wednesday in uh the Atlantis it was uninspiring basketball at best and it was gross at worst um I think I think if if you play how you played for the last five minutes of the game or I guess the the from minute five to minute two remaining in the second half I think you probably do well against Indi I mean I’m not about to come out here and say that Indiana’s like a final four Contender with Mike Woodson coaching but I think that you you need to step it up um it was just it was gross I I mean that’s that’s all I all I can say I didn’t feel inspired by uh anyone really I mean rain Smith was hitting shots but even that it’s you expect him to hit shots he’s a he’s a good Hooper um it’s really weird that rain Smith maybe I shouldn’t say it’s really weird it’s slightly concerning that rain Smith has been the only consistent one and I know I might have even said this in the preview he’s someone whose game I’ve liked since I watched him as freshman year at Charleston I think the dude’s a sniper and he just carries himself like a a stud he carries himself very confidently like I thought he could have transferred up a level a couple years ago to be honest with you that being said he’s still someone who like he doesn’t really create for himself he needs to play off of others he needs to be playing off of uh teren Edwards and he needs to be playing off of Chucky heurn and case Pryor and I mean Edwards to me is just been such a disappointment from where I thought he was just six points in this game three for nine for the field and I five turnovers I mean there Louisville team as a whole finish with 20 it’s just turnover who was the problem was Cas prior I mean he was turning the ball over like crazy I think he had four in the first half alone which is absurd considering he’s not even starting the game I mean you got to figure it out at some point and I don’t know why rain Smith isn’t starting either yeah yeah honestly case Pryor I was going to mention him as well he’s not going to escape the slander just because he’s someone who his game I was extraordinarily high on I thought he would translate moving I mean again he dominated the America if you’re dominating the American you should be able to dominate winth like you can have questions whether or not that translates to the ACC but I just expected so much more from him in these buy games and I mean it’s not it’s like none of what he did well last year at South Florida has translated he shot one for six from the field finished with three assists I know he’s always had a little bit of passing in his bag and there are times where he’s making plays from the wing or the top of the key find it like to a to a cutter where he looks really good but yeah you mentioned it six turnovers is pretty inexcusable and 0 for four from three from this game as well it seems like his three-point shooting has completely fallen off I don’t know if it was just a a one-year Mirage with how well he shot at South Florida last year three for 20 right now that’s through four games 15% is not gonna cut it he’s the I think I I don’t know like where do you feel about his Outlook going forward do you think he gets it together or is this this just who he is is inefficient and maybe a little fraudulent well I think he’s very lucky that there are other pieces on this Louisville team that have also not clicked for his playing time I mean we mentioned Terence Edwards but also Noah Waterman is just weak like he’s I I I’ve always said with Grant Nelson at Alabama that he needs to put on some muscle if he wants to be legitimate NBA Prospect Noah Waterman needs to put on muscle if he wants to be a solid contributor in the ACC um I mean he had a couple blocks this game yeah but I can stick my hand up if I played enough college basketball I could get a few blocks uh I think that the the problem with what Waterman is is that you expect him to be able to not you expect him to be able to mix it up you expect him to be able to grab a board you expect him to do all these things and it’s just like I think that you and I would probably have more brute strength than him and I think that he needs to improve that physicality you know I get I get that he has played in the Big 12 and he in theory should have that but it just seems like he doesn’t yeah yeah and I mean to your point let’s see how many boards did he grab this game one total rebound one total rebound 13 minutes on a pat Kelce team like that’s another I don’t want to just pile on Louisville because we know they they won by 15 I’m don’t know if they play how they did for the last five minutes of the game they’ll beat Indiana I’m I’m very certain about that I think that the first 35 minutes you can’t fully Overlook yeah that’s fair um I I just like for a coach who’s had so much success crashing the glass I mean they were out they were outrebounded excuse me they they outrebounded wiri by three total one had 19 offensive rebounds to Louisville’s 10 that’s almost like Mark proster beating Kelsey at his own game um I don’t know it just seems like if winth cash a couple more threes like their their freshman point guard Paul Jones shot two for 11 from the field and I don’t necessarily know if that was like Louisville’s defense that was struggling or that was frustrating him as much as it was just like this is a true freshman playing against a historically great program and maybe wasn’t up for the moment like well as a team win thp shot 20% from three and 31% from the field and they I thought they got some good looks yeah like I I don’t that that to me again speaks concern for Louisville I mean this was they winr was hanging around the whole first half they I think they cut it to four with a minute left um for rain just H like a circus three before the half to kind of put or I mean not to put them away for good but they Louisville didn’t really look back after that but yeah I sometimes it’s tough for me to gauge you know you don’t want to read too much into a to a mid- major hanging around in a half with the power Conference team because it’s happened a lot this season even to good teams it just still feels like this Louisville team is more susceptible than I thought they would be even this early in the season with a bunch of new pieces I will say they are 10 times a hundred times even better than they were under at any point under Kenny Payne uh that is still evident uh also going more towards some Louisville positivity I wish Kai ruths had some more uh confidence because when he was shooting the ball and you know when he was feeling good he played really well I mean he splashed a three at one point and they went back to him and he drove got a got a nice bucket there but then that was kind of it and he only got 17 minutes and I believe he’s like a high four star Low Five Star type kid yeah he’s he’s like a top 40 kid played at IMG I’m a big fan of roots’s game and I’m with you his shot looks good when it goes in he’s a high motor guy like pretty like decently athletic and I mean Terence Edwards is gonna play the way that he is why don’t you put him and Smith together and just let him feed off of each other yeah I mean yeah with when you look at this starting lineup do you do you go ahead and when you play you could play roots and James Scott together some Waterman to the bench I mean if rain Smith isn’t starting against uh Indiana I’m calling Tom crean at this point I mean or who do you who Tony skin who you know name that trendy coaching pick and Tom Tom Ken’s not coming back I don’t know I just thought of him because of Indiana you know oh yeah yeah that’s fair that’s fair I think you I’m like do you really need to start Chucky heurn if he’s giving you 10 points in four turnovers like ah I get Terence Edwards was really bad even one of those turnovers he had he lit it’s like dribbling the ball off his foot um that to me like that’s not who this player was like he’s played so much basketball for a tournament team in James Madison he won a ton of games while at JMU to where I’m like he can’t be as bad as he’s shown so far I’m almost wondering like I I’m not ready to give Al terance Edwards just yet even with some of his shaky play because I think he’s probably one of the highest ceiling players on this team um I’d probably like well here’s here’s what I’ll say I’m convinced players with the last name Edwards can only be good if they’re playing for Mark buyington Terrence Edwards was that good when he was playing for Mark Bingington last year this year mark Bingington goes to Vanderbilt he found himself a Jason Edwards and look at how he’s playing he might he might be on to something with this guy Bon is or maybe Bon is just an Edwards Merchant or Edwards is are our buyington Merchants maybe that’s the angle we’re going for for now I think Mark buyington just needs to find as many Edwards uh as he can kind of like maccaffrey with the mcaffry with with Butler though now wait there there are now uh all the mcaf are Butler Sor Butler Jack committed there and uh Conor is coaching there yeah yeah there you go um I maybe Bon just needs to go by Mark Mark Edwards maybe fully commit to the bit but yeah I I’m still not ready to give up on Edwards just because I think the talent doesn’t go away like that um I I want to see more like I mean I think I’d probably put Edwards at the one despite his five turnovers against Louisville put rain Smith at the two which granted r is still playing 28 minutes this game he’s he’s getting his he’s getting plenty of burn even if he’s not starting um keep Hadley at the three try Roots at the four James Scott at the five I mean I think that sounds like a better lineup yeah that lineup has great positional size it has shooting it has athleticism I mean Noah Waterman fou out of this game so he’s I mean he might not I don’t know if he’s going to be playing starter minutes going forward but yeah prior and then with prior like still try to ease him in and give him a chance to prove that he can do something because you still see the flashes I mean he had that he trapped a ball screen I think middle of the second half led to a breakaway dunk like he can do stuff like that but yeah it’s just as a whole um not all the not all the way there yeah and I still think that there are posit positives to take away obviously your rain Smiths obviously as we said the kai Roots but I I I think that uh the last five minutes were Louisville basketball or not I don’t know about Louisville basketball but Pat Kelce basketball yeah it was something and if you get this group playing Pat Kelce basketball you’re fine I mean on paper this is a what he you know a 8 to 11 seed in the tournament right I mean you’re for year one I think that you’re fine if guys start playing how they should be MH and I I do think that will happen I really I really rate Pat Kelce as a coach so and there’s still there’s still plenty of opportunity in the ACC I mean we saw pit lose tonight so that’s kind of squashed the uh what’s like the Undisputed third best team in the ACC there is still plenty of time for Louisville to start jelling I I’m they just I don’t want to give up on Georgia Tech as the third best team I know they’ve looked horrible on fire dude Georgia Tech is awful I love Damon stmy yeah that’s cool St me’s a good coach but this roster has like two good players on it Louisville is Louisville is the 2017 Warriors compared to George Tech anyway from from guy Franklin from Riley Davis we thank you for
