what’s up Leafs Nation welcome back to another game preview and today we’re going to be taking a look at game number 26 of the Toronto Maple Leafs regular season as they take on the Washington Capitals here at home tonight first night of a backtack here Washington tonight Pittsburgh tomorrow you’re coming off a few wins here two of which I would say ugly wins and then one of which was an exciting one that got people kind of really geared up back again with Carter Hutton coming on the postgame show there as well just add fuel to the fire to say this team might be different we saw Mitch Marner say you know what I’m going to take over a game I’m going to be dominant we saw Austin Matthews be dominant in that game and the most important thing was that we saw Mitch Marner step up with a little bit of bite yes Mitch Marner showed a little bit of bite I watched that game and I thought we might have something different on our hands these are sleepy games Monday Wednesday nights Chicago Nashville in Scotia Bank Arena and the team found ways to get wins tonight against the Washington Capitals it’s a Friday night the fan base is feeling this tingling inside of them that they haven’t felt in a long long time there’s a gen like a genuine excitement about the group The ability for them to go far in the playoffs the style of hockey that they’re playing the coach that we have here Austin Matthews wearing the SE William nander being on Pace for over 50 goals Mitch Marner getting in the mix goaling like we haven’t seen the best defensive group in maybe 10 plus years I think this leaes team and what would traditionally be maybe like uh hey we’re excited but you’re not is going to be ready to go against Washington here tonight and on top of that I think the fans in Scotia Bank Arena are going to be ready to go here tonight loud excited and energetic ready to absolutely Rock in that building tonight with the Washington Capitals in town I’m looking forward to this one it’s been very few and far between as a Leafs fan over the last five or so years that I’ve watched uh or I’ve looked at a schedule and said I’m excited the last two weeks I’ve watched and gone into the game being like I can’t wait to watch this one it happens where we have these shitty games and they end up with a win but even in those ones it’s exciting that the team is able to play the way that Matthews Marner we saw that go together at the end of the game against Nashville the other night third period put them out together boom goal right away uh boom another goal right away take the lead awesome Matthews has too that line was rocking there dancing around Marr took over the game defensive plays offensive plays Matthews was skating around anybody that he wanted that line looked really good um you know death taxes and Matthews and Marner playing together at this point but if you play the way that you did the other night yeah for sure okay keep them together I don’t mind that nean or Taris and Holberg second line here go back together pontis homberg on the second line is being a intriguing one for me not overly happy with his play he’s a guy that I thought had high potential and didn’t mind going in that spot obviously I would prefer Bobby McMahon but when he’s out pontis homberg I thought would be a decent fit he’s not played that great I think William neander is going to have a little fire under his ass going down to the second line here and going back with Johnny T I thought he looked pretty good with Matthews it gets shaken up a little bit trying to just spark something Matthews and Marner go back together and all of a sudden they’re on the board so Willie you’re down to the second line I feel like he gets firing here tonight wink wink nudge nudge but I don’t know if it’s from William neander that gets in the back of the net I feel like William nander will be a big part of it but I don’t know if it’s necessarily him go to the third line Nick Robertson Fraser mton Steven lawence uh no notes Here really talked on the sheet today with Amer about the possibility of Nick Robertson moving on maybe to Pittsburgh and Kyle dubis make sure to check out the sheet 3 P.M to 4 pm Monday to Friday eastern time uh I don’t know I just want more from Nick Robertson right now I don’t think he’s being good enough and then the fourth line grankin derer and Reeves bash Brothers down there between grankin and Reeves the physic it the Rough and Tumble style of play um I don’t know the the fourth line I don’t expect too much out of other than hard for check don’t give up any goals and maybe beat some people up physically out there so that’s what we’ve got for our forward lineups here tonight as per what the defensive lines are if you take a look down there down the lineup it’s pretty much the exact same as the last game Craig Brew does not like shuffling these guys up too much emman Larson Chris tanv Morgan Riley Philip Meers second line uh second unit and then Beno Timmons as per our power play lines for what we’ve got first and second unit obviously remember how these ones go but first unit the five forwards neiler Matthews Marner tares n second unit Holberg Minon Robertson Riley emman LaRon asterisk on pontis homberg there as William neander typically has played the LA the full two minutes and taken that spot of pontis homberg but yeah I mean defense happy with it especially teams can’t can’t really complain here too much they did get on the board the other day with um did get on the board the other day with that power play goal from William neander and a nice pass by Matthew ni hopefully that they can continue that and continue to find some some magic in that line but uh yeah that’s uh those are our lines tonight with Austin Matthews he’s been incredible so far this season he’s showcasing playmaking ability he’s showcasing ability to score goals why the hell wouldn’t William naner find a way to help pontis homberg find the back of the net not plus 650 for a guy who’s playing on the second line with John Taris and William neander I’m loving the bet that we get here Bobby McMahon plays on that line for conts and gets around plus 400 or lower if we’re going to get a plus 650 I’m playing this every time I don’t care how he’s played so far to start this season I’m going to play these numbers for us and I feel like we’ve got a good shot here at hitting a big one so 50 bucks profits 325 here tonight that’s our best bet against the Washington Capitals I feel good about this team I’m excited about the
