performance from him subie what did you see from this Marquette team that you really liked I think initial takeaways from this game guy is uh you know that scene you ever seen uh Forgetting Sarah Marshall where Russell br’s like take my eyes but not the shirt like take my eyes but not cam Jones like when he went down I was like come on man I’m over here pushing for National player of the year he’s been Sensational uh return to action he he seems to be okay it’s let’s put it this way it’s not as bad as what we initially may have feared with uh cam Jones but yeah he didn’t have his double double which we predicted he was going to have but man David Joplin way to step up it just feels like this Marquette team has dudes who can Step Up On Any Given night and are confident in doing so and and playing in their role uh 29 Points for David joffin and then you go beyond that chase Ross he had a full game 14 and four five steals I mean everyone’s just bought in every it’s it really does seem like it’s an next-man up mentality and it’s not as if Cam Jones left the game permanently or for a super long stretch these guys were just like I mean whether or not cam Jones is on the floor I’m going to step up and and get this done for Marquette uh I will say though guy we kind of hit on this in the preview they were sloppy Marquette to start the game and I do think there was sort of this hangover effect or whatever you want to call it after beating Purdue uh they finished with I believe 13 turnovers um at one point they had 10 turnovers did Marquette and they only had like 12 combined uh yeah they finished with 13 turnovers and they committed 12 combined against Maryland and Purdue so I do think there was a bit of a hangover Georgia stormed back and really good fight in that first half to make it competitive too much Mark out though what about you yeah I think if you’re Georgia having a game where blue cane as your leading score isn’t necessarily the best sign he’s you know a great shooter and all that right and you know you’re happy when he’s his shot is going in and he’s you know just letting it go but realistically you want ASA n to be your leading scorer or maybe Tyron Lawrence right and we saw a better game from Tyron Lawrence and we’ve been seeing 15 points right uh uh four rebounds three assists as well you know he was getting his and I think that’s important for them but you want your stars to Star and I think unless you’re Steph Curry who does way more than just shooting you don’t want your shooter to be your leading scorer um so I think that’s that’s a bit of a not I don’t want to say it’s a it’s a problem but it’s because you know obviously you like it when Kane is really going and hitting his shots but it didn’t feel like nle really had his best stuff he was 0 for three from three um and uh 33% from the floor you expect more out of a five star like that it’s you know I mean there’s not much to say other than that I think we just saw a bit of a talent Gap and a a coaching Gap all you know it’s not it’s just Marquette is a better team than Georgia is at the end of the day yeah I agree guy and and I don’t I I see what you’re saying about blue Kane first of all Georgia’s fun and I’m gonna include blue Kane in that I mean Georg is a fun team to watch he just jacks up threes the entire time now whether or not that’s sound bask I know he’s a shooter but whether or not that’s sound basketball I don’t know it’s a at least an entertaining brand of hoop but you’re right ASA nle wasn’t uh terrific from a nle versus cam Jones perspective I think we were kind of deprived and we were a bit Wayward on what we were expecting um in this showcase type of game but uh Silas Demery played pretty well too I I have to give him credit but you’re right there is a coaching Gap and just from a team- winning perspective right like yeah you can also point to the talent but who do you trust to win games I you know I trust obviously Marquette to win these games and they ran away with it really uh in in the second half I have a question for you though guy yeah I was looking at marquette’s minutes and how they were distributed in this game their starters were basically all in the 30s uh if you look at this game I think they met maybe maximum seven deep do you think they’re not getting enough bench production or maybe Shaka is relying to too much on those starters who are magnificent clearly but I don’t know just give me your thoughts on the the bench distribution yeah this year has felt like sort of the the year with the shallowest roster in terms of like shallow and deep uh I I think that sort of the past couple years Marquette has had this thing where it’s one star or two stars go to the NBA right you have Tyler kic last year you have Oho we the year before right and it’s just slowly eating at the depth because they don’t do they don’t you know they keep the same core around they don’t do too much in the portal I don’t think it’ll come back to bite them this year but I think next year they’re going to need to make some sort of pickup as cam Jones presumably goes off to uh bigger things not necessarily better things I don’t know that he’s going to be a lottery pick or anything but bigger things um the uh I I I don’t think that it’s that much of a problem if your starters are able to play as as well as they have shown to be able to play but I I do think that you want to get Royce parum involved and maybe Zade Lowry a little bit more just because I think those are going to be your next guys up as people leave um but th those guys can also get more minute like they’ve got two uh will definitely one cupcake in uh non D1 stone or sorry yes D1 but not very good Stone Hill um uh but then other than that uh you have uh Western Carolina and then the the the difficulty starts right you get just a really difficult three- game stretch you get Iowa State who I think is the best team in the country then you get Johnson and then you go to Dayton that’s really freaking hard and not to mention you’re on the road against Iowa State and you are on the road against Dayton those are two really difficult places to play and I you know I’m not saying that you need to come away from those three game I mean you definitely have to beat Wisconson you are clearly a better team than Wisconsin but you need to involve the Ben during those games against Stonehill in Western Carolina before that so you can rely on them during that big difficult stretch because you’d like to take two out of three of those games if you’re Marquette you know I’m not going to say you know it’s ridiculous to say you need to beat all three of those teams I think definitely Dayton and Iowa state will be in the tournament likely you know I think Iowa State’s going to be on the one line I think Dayton will probably be on the four five line and you know you’ve got a those are the kinds of games that especially against Wisconsin you’ve got to prove that you can hang and prove that you can win so yeah I I think that the bench is important but your stars are going to dictate those games yeah I’m liking what Marquette is doing and I want to see the prognosis for cam J Jones moving forward but I’ll be honest with you it wouldn’t shock me a ton to see them lose these three games it would not Shock me that all that much uh maybe Wisconsin would shock me a little bit where is that game is that in Milwaukee or Madison that’s uh that’s Milwaukee that’s in Milwaukee all right that would shot me you gotta win that one all right beat Wisconsin but you go one and two it’s not terribly troubling but it wouldn’t it wouldn’t surprise me if you lost that on the road to Dayton Dayton’s a very tough place to play and then Iowa State no M where you play it wouldn’t surprise me if Marquette lost so this is a big big stretch um but if they can you know on the flip side if Marquette squeezes out of there two and one that’s awesome like that’s that’s really really impressive and obviously three and 0 you said you can’t expect them to I’m sure shako will but uh big big stretch certainly coming up for markette let’s monitor cam Jones uh moving forward yeah he the Marquette will go as he goes usually right and maybe that’s not quite the case with the the game yesterday but usually Marquette will go as he goes we saw that uh against Purdue uh one last thing here subie uh where do you think this Marquette team finishes in the Big East after watching that and where do you think Georgia finishes in the SEC that’s a good question uh Georgia there’s a lot of good hoop in the SEC man like Tennessee and Kentucky have shown and Auburn Alabama like it’s it’s gonna be a rough first question over or under Arkansas under I’m gonna say under I’m not I’m not out on Arkansas I’m not that concerned about their start like everyone else is so I’ll say under and then over under Vanderbilt I was GNA sayy looks decent VY looks good which is I think that Vandy is going to be right in the middle of the pack I I do too I’m going to say under like I don’t I I don’t know maybe I’m more bought in on a fresh face like Mark buyington and AJ hogard looks pretty decent like I said georg’s fun but I can’t why why should I trust Mike White you tell me okay yeah like I will trust John caliper at least and I’m fine with trusting him in the regular season uh Mark Bingington like you say why should you trust him I don’t know like I don’t know what Bingington is I don’t know what he can do so I’m gonna go for the flyer uh here’s what I’ll say I think I think it’s very likely that Georgia flounders but I think that there’s a chance that they feel like Nebraska from last year that could be that could be let’s see uh go ahead sorry we’re saying the same thing about hyberg so you know yeah we’ll see we’ll see from a big East perspective all right uh where’s Marquette gonna finish I again if you want to talk trust like I trust Yukon to finish higher than them I I picked kraton to go to the final four they looked awful against Nebraska but I’m gonna hold out hope that krton eventually finds their offense so I think they’ll finish above Marquette or maybe they’ll be battling it out but that’s about it right like I I would say there’s only one clear-cut better team than Marquette in the Big East and that’s Yukon is there anyone else um I could I mean I I know I’m not gonna say what I want to say Johnny there well and I don’t think that they’re better than I don’t think that they’re better than Marquette at all I just think I I just wanted to say this really on camera I think depal is good this year I don’t think that they’re gonna finish top five in the Big East I just I just wanted to say that on camera the bar is in hell for like Chris Holman should has already he should be extended based off off of like the last few years performances with Coach double field but yeah I think they’re a 15- win team this year that’s great man that’s amazing I know I’m I’m very excited to watch them play basketball anyway we’re getting off off topic Marquette beats Georgia we like Marquette we think
