before we we record about how much we love this Iowa State team despite the loss to Auburn marquette’s the team that comes into this undefeated though has the win over Purdue which is the best win of of either of these two teams so just big picture what are you most looking forward to seeing in this game uh well here’s what I’m looking for I’m looking for Iowa State to cement itself as the number two team in the country I thought at first off I just want to say I think cam Jones is going to be a first team All-American I think Marquette is incredible and I I think my Iowa State positivity has nothing to do with Marquette it’s everything to do with Iowa State um Iowa state was My preseason number one team going into that Maui tournament Auburn was my number two team in the country I I don’t think that loss to them really means anything other than just switching them in order I think Iowa state is pretty clearly the second best team in the country I mean I get that they don’t have a lot of great teams on their resume other than those Maui games which close loss to Auburn you beat a Dayton team who I think is pretty clearly a top 20 team in the country after what we saw from them in Maui they blew the doors off of Yukon um realistically they should have beaten North Carolina there was a few questionable officiating calls in that game I won’t get into it right but up by so many at at half you know which ones I’m talking about um but I I think realistically that Dayton team should have beaten North Carolina and being able to beat them and then again absolutely crushing Colorado a team that beat a team like Yukon who is still absolutely a top 25 team in the country I think this Iowa State team is pretty clearly at least a top five top four team in the country depending on who you are I think this is where we really see that and I get I get it it’s an aims we know about Hilton magic but I think that there’s a chance that you could see a double digit win just because we haven’t even seen kesan Gilbert’s best yet and I think that best is not only a first team All-American I think he could get some sneaky National Player of the Year consideration and I think that we still need to see them gel a little bit especially with the front Court yeah the Kean Gilbert cam Jones match up this game is going to be a lot of fun Gilbert was one of the three best players at Maui gii broom obviously in that and I’ll I’ll I’ll give some breath or some room for air for somebody I’m forgetting on top of my head ha PJ hagy there you go well T Tyrese Hunter You could argue in there too he he may have been the better of those two Memphis cards who were both fantastic in that event um but he’s been awesome this season and I think that match Up’s going to be a lot of fun I am interested to see Iowa State’s defense against marquette’s offense two great great defenses in this game both uh Marquette technically has a better defense they’re top five on P right now I’m not going to tell you that Marquette has a better defense than Iowa State I think it’s just a matter of who you’ve played and and Metric stuff to this point early in the season but Iowa state is number four in Kemp pal and offensive efficiency rating that’s a team that has struggled to get into the top 50 they struggled to get into the top 100 before last season now they’re playing at home in their first like real game against a good team at home um if their offense is going to play at the level that they’ve played at I think there are very few teams in the country that can hang with them let alone at home Marquette I think could be one of them but if Marquette is going to go into Ames and win guy what what do they need to do well here’s what you need to do you need to run through cam Jones everything runs through cam Jones and yes they have good pieces surrounding him we’ve seen David Joplin look good we’ve seen Ben gold look good right we’ve seen Stevie michell look good as well you’re a cam Jones Centric team that is the guy who is I I said preseason as well I think he’s going to be a first team first team All-American and I remember Carter getting mad at me in the Discord for saying that uh but I I was very very very high on cam Jones he’s moved into that ball handler role in the loss of Tyler KCK very seamlessly yeah he’s still shooting the lights out of the ball he’s still I mean look it’s just it’s it’s a he’s aided by the fact that Marquette doesn’t have the most depth but it’s still Marquette right this is still a very good team and he is the star for a very good team there’s a reason why both of these teams are top five or top six in the AP poll I I think that both of them are probably higher than their AP pole ranking like I said I think Iowa State’s the second best team in the country I think marquette’s probably the fourth best team in the country uh I I would slip a Gonzaga in between them but with the way that they played in Atlantis I think that there’s a real argument for Marquette in that three spot the other wrinkle that I think is interesting here is I’m looking at Iowa State schedule I think if they win the win this game there’s a chance that they don’t lose another game until they until February 3D when they play at Kansas Marquette on the other hand they’ve got to go to Dayton and I was on the Dayton Yukon recap with subie and we both they that Wisconsin in between their two like badgers are oh I’m I’m not in on Wisconson this year I know that they’re 11th and I know that in your Ralph report which you should go watch you talked about how John ton was for real yeah I don’t think Wisconsin Is For Real even if ton Is For Real I think that that Dayton game is going to prove much harder especially because that game is being played in Milwaukee um this isn’t a preview for any of that I’m just you know I’m looking big picture I’m a big picture guy um and looking in the micro at this game I think this is a battle but I think Iowa state is the better team in one of the most Magical Home Arenas in the country and Ralph I want want to know what you think the final score is going to be in the final score projection and a half they can spot Marquette probably eight and a half I I think Iowa State wins this game by multiple possessions I don’t know if it’s quite double digits but multiple possessions I think you see a good mix of offensive defense I think this is like a really well played or we come out of it feeling really good about both sides give me Iowa State 76 Marquette 67 okay so ninepoint game nine-point game yeah I think it could follow a script where Iowa state gets up by like the 8 to 12 range and kind of keeps that kind of lead for majority of the game I don’t know if they’re going to have to sweat much but I expect it to be a wellplayed game yeah I’m I’m in a similar spot with you thinking that Iowa State’s going to win this game by multiple possessions part of that I think is because of Cam Jones at point guard I know I was uh posit being positive about that earlier but thr a cam Jones this is my this is my favorite cam Jones fact since I I did a deep dive on him the Tyler kch you know playmaker extraordinaire yeah the best assist rate in his career was 42.1 cam Jones right now is an assist rate of 42.3 wow okay well I’m about to sound like a big idiot because I’m GNA go on with what I was saying I think that Gilbert and lipy are going to be able to clog up the passing Lanes against him and they’re going to be able to get out and run because that’s what they do against everyone and cam Jones is his first real time being a point guard but apparently I am an airhead so no I mean this is this is the toughest defense that they that they faced right ‘s back court as good and accomplished as it is is not great defensively no one’s writing home about georg’s defense or or Maryland’s perimeter defense both lawr isn’t that bad foror they’re solid right but they’re not this they’re not this I State team right yeah like the iate team is phenomenal at forcing turnovers and nagging posing ball handlers cam Jones has been cam Jones because his ability to be a Tyler kic level playmaker while also being like a true go-to score that’s going to be hard to do with as hard as you’re going to have to work against Iowa State Defense yeah and especially because Iowa state has been able to use lipy and Gilbert so interchangeably on the ball yeah it’s huge and I I think that Iowa State ends up taking this game 78 to 68 so okay very very similar to what you were gonna say I just I wanted wanted to say it was going to be a double digit score just because I need to push my Iowa State National Championship uh narrative and a 10-point win against Marquette would do that that being said Marquette fans I don’t think that this is going to be at all easy for Iowa State I think that there is a very good chance that you guys will win this game obviously I don’t think it’s the same as Iowa State otherwise I would have picked Marquette in this game but I I don’t think that I think this is the game of the week this might be the game of December this might be the game of the season even at this point I mean this is a I’m so in on both of these teams and I’m so excited to watch it yeah I I think we’ll leave the game feeling better about both teams with what I expect to see a wellplayed game a very fun watch for sure no matter what happens in the game whether it’s an Iowa State double digit win maybe a Marquette upset we’ll be back the Super Media YouTube
