hello and welcome to the Premier League review show here on YouTube we’re looking back on the 3-2 win over Southampton on Sunday which set Liverpool 8 points clear at the top of the Premier League table uh you can watch our full analysis show in the subscriber section by the way but let’s start first of all with four areas Neil that Liverpool set season long highs in to be not the best performance from Liverpool of the Season there were plenty of records and look at some of these records here we go passes in the final third 20 73 ranked first touches in the opposition box 51 we’ve seen that one already crosses 30 shots 27 so there you go it shows just how dominant Liverpool were a season High stats for a number of those there yeah very impressive indeed let’s start with Dominic sober slid go then his first in the Premier League this season it all started for some fantastic pressing by Liverpool and just to say before I play that it’ been coming this goal had been coming we’d been on top we’d had three or four chances Southampton just couldn’t get out of their own half it had been coming thinking can we get a goal when we are on top and we did I mean Conor Bradley does ever so well he’s linking up with mosalah out on that right hand side he gets the shot away but I wanted to point this out when he gets the shot away just look at all the Liverpool players you’ve got Salah in there you’ve got soers Nunes GPO Curtis Jones and the other fullback as well the other fullback is on the edge of the penalty area alongside Conor Bradley look at all those Liverpool players in and around the penalty area hoping to maybe get on the end of it or or get an effort at goal themselves the shot comes in from color Bradley it it wasn’t one of his greatest comfortable save in the end but just watch just watch what Southampton do and that’s where the players were alert the players were alert because they know it’s coming they know it’s coming in that situation and I love this love this you’ve got Curtis Jones thinking right I’m going to put a nice press you’ve got soers L as well alert because they’re aware Southampton want to play out from the back so they’re ready for that so when they play out he’s got nowhere to go so he’s looking he’s looking ends up playing the ball back to his mate there his goalkeeper is telling him just get rid of the ball get rid of the ball we don’t want to be playing there we’re under pressure get rid of the ball what does he do instead of just absolutely launching it there into the stands he doesn’t and then when the shot comes in there we go from soas bang into the back of the net we make the most of that poor play from from Southampton the goalkeeper who obviously hadn’t started for a few games cuz Rams was out injured he came into the team I think in this position here I can see we mentioned about you know Curtis Jones and so was like putting him under pressure I think if he does what graen Burg does really well and just sort of opens his body out and then the space to go into but he sort of closes off doesn’t he he sort of got his his his back to play there if he opens it up a little bit more maybe there is a little bit of space to beat that Liverpool press but then because of the pressure from the two Liverpool players he’s thinking where do I go where to a go he then thinks me only real option is to play it back to his make Downs the uh the center back and he doesn’t launch it clear I mean that’s a terrible clearance putting it right back into a dangerous area could could maybe sasl have found that pass there to gakpo gpo’s in a position saying pass me the ball I’m in a good position to to score myself Alex to go himself and it’s a wonderful goal isn’t it a wonderful finish from SAS life from the edge of the penalty area this one shows it well again from a different sort of position Liverpool pressing putting them under pressure Curtis Jones here watch Curtis Jones alert wanting to work hard wanting to put them under pressure wanting to force that error and so when it does come to soas Li there we mentioned about the fact that GPO was an option just inside the penalty here somewh was it outside just inside it was the effort from soas bends it into that far corner and we’ll just show you how close it was to that far top corner cuz as he bends it towards hit the inside of the post how many times you see it hits the post maybe comes out and it doesn’t go in maybe a little bit of look there for sober L hits the post and in the back of the net he’s had to wait a while hasn’t he for a Premier League goal yeah but get him he was a deserved open he goal that the goal ofad he was everywhere Neil really strong performance by him yeah yeah absolutely um he got a goal on International Duty was that little dink penalty P against Germany for Hungary yeah so uh I think that gives players confidence doesn’t it good to see him in this sort of form making runs into into the box maybe that wasn’t the right decision a little back heeld to Salah maybe firing the ball across he’s got that energy to do this hasn’t he 4 V3 what can we creating this opportunity bursting forward he sets that chance up for Mella really good drive forward from from soas there look at the reactions love this it’s nil nil watch the reactions from Dominic sasl here wins the ball gives a shout to n get out the way I’m going to have the shot good save in the end from the goalkeeper to get down to stop him in that position again working hard for the team wins the ball back in that position in and around the halfway line and then we can go at that Southampton defense really good energy from SAS picks up the loose ball in Midfield there his mat’s been fouled but he carries on and that’s a really good run linking up nicely with mosalah fires the ball across nearly get somebody on the end of it yeah gets himself a goal and a top performance uh heat map suggests he played an awful lot higher up as well yep yeah well that was mainly because of how Southampton were they were camped in around their own penalty area and so a lot of his work was in the opposition half as you can see there a lot of his his heat map suggest that he was around that penalty area let’s turn to mosala then he intervened in the game wasn’t much happening from a Liverpool perspective but he did need some assistance from the home team didn’t he what was the goalkeeper doing here we go yeah so brilliant from Salah as we know we said that time and time again look at the space they giving Ryan Graber there plays the ball in behind that is an unbelievable finish in terms of he knows what’s around him he knows where the goalkeeper is he knows where the goal is he knows exactly what what he needs to do with his touch does he need a control or does he shoot himself that is a is an attacking player who knows what’s around him and he’s calm he’s calm he doesn’t panic and he just blazes it over it’s a brilliant finish that is not an easy finish he’s got a lot to think about in that situation he makes it look easy because that’s moela that’s what he does look at the shape from Southampton the’re two one up they’ve got the back five they’re not interested in pressing they are not interested in trying to win the ball back of graen bur here we go so graen bur’s got the ball we move it on I think in this position Southampton are trying to stop that ball they’re trying to stop the ball into soers L they’re trying to stop the ball into another player in that position maybe Nunez whoever it may be but what they don’t recognize is we’ve also got that option yes we’re trying to play the ball in between the lines trying to get our players in a central area but we’ve also got that movement there with with moala making that running behind what a ball from from grenberg and the Finish from Salah with the help of the goalkeeper going walkabouts getting lost inside his own penalty area mentioned he wasn’t up to speed with with games in the Premier League with ramsdale being out nowhere near being offside there we go nowhere near being offside miles on side in that position and what I like about this is mentioned about awareness he’s got a lot to think of he’s running at full speed a he’s looking where’s the goalkeeper what is the goalkeeper doing in this position is he coming out is he staying on his line he’s making his mind up already what is the goalkeeper doing he has a look and then he can see the goalkeeper’s lost I know what I need to just need to put it past him into the goal and there you go the goalkeeper come far far too past his sticks and Salah can put it into the empty net this is a good little Ango to show you so you got graen B there he’s looking and salah’s looking so they’ve got that understanding Graber knows he’s got Salah there on the right hand side who’s wanting to make that run so they’ve got the eye contact between the pair of them brilliant pass really is from Graber and the Finish from Salah and what I liked about that as well was it was a quick response wasn’t it we’d only just gone behind to make it 2-1 and this was the equalizing goal there’s the Finish just the outside of the foot in complete control of the finish the calmness there to put it Beyond McCarthy back in the game can we go and get a winner we certainly can uh sugara you come onto the pitch and you you’re into a chaotic game and he had terrible look but he can have few complaints about the penalty he wasn’t on long was he uh no here we go so we’re pushing for this winning goal at this point by the way just to say it is Relentless pressure they are camped in their own half pretty much camped in their own penalty for large spells as we try and chase this winning goal look at the patience calmness we’re not just launching it in the Box we’re probing what can we find we’re moving the ball we’re trying to move that Southampton defense what can we find what bit of space can we find to try and create that opportunity Conor Bradley makes a little run okay can we move somebody out position back to Salah in that position I’ve paused it there because that is every single Southampton player back in their own penalty area they couldn’t get out of their own half they didn’t touch the ball in Liverpool’s half for nearly 12 minutes 11 minutes 55 seconds Relentless pressure and and it paid off in the end it paid off Salah with little dink towards a far post Nunes is battling away with the defender you know you know look at everyone appealing that is not desperation that is ref that’s a pain and to be fair to the referee again with the penalty incident for Southampton he’s give it on field he said that’s a pen I’m I’m having that as a pen he gave it as a penalty so he could see it what about the run from Andy Robertson this is our left back late on in the game last 10 minutes I want to get involved I want to help the team score a winning goal in that position it’s a brilliant run a great ball from Salah and there we go it’s Andy Robertson at the far post appealing for the hand ball the first Contact is there on the chest that’s not hand ball why it’s a penalty is because as we move it on it’s the second movement it’s away from his body and he just sort of sort of moves it a little bit so as much as you say deflection isn’t handball because it’s away from his body and he sort of moves it a little bit there’s no way V were overturning that one so we were thinking is it a deflection what they’re going to do overturn it no penalty some Claim by Robo as well wasn’t that he was in absolutely no doubt and there’s no man you’d rather have in a position like this late on no I mean the calmness again from mosala he he’s that’s five in a row in the league and he can deal with that pressure can’t he seven of his last nine Premier League penalties have given Liverpool the lead this was a big moment big pressure can we can we go in front late on in the game the goalkeeper goes the right way but he’s thinking it’s going to be low and he can’t quite manage to get his arm up there into the back of the net not quite top bin I want to say top inin for Salah but it’s not quite top in is it goalkeeper’s gone the right way he’s gone low rather than high and Salah finds the back of the net there we go you can see there in that position I’m going to ask the question is he on his line the goalkeeper we don’t need to worry about that now but I’m sure V had he have saved it would have looked at I’m not sure it looked close it looked like he may have just been off his line taking his deep breath making sure he’s ready for what was a high pressure penalty top comes off and he embarrasses all men of our age doesn’t he think you got your top off you had a physique like that I wish we had a body like that but getting great celebration I don’t like that yellow card that need to stop does no but we all accepted that we at that stage um 100 goals away from anfield as well which is just another record that’s fallen for him yeah I mean record after record look at some of the names on that list some of our great goal scorers of alltime Rush is on there so Roger hunt Billy L Billy little uh and this is goals away from anfield so it’s not all not just away goals it includes neutral venues as well but mea scored 100 in just 191 games away from home some of my favorites just to say you’re at Old Trafford he SC if you at Old tra his first away goal if you remember was actually Watford away his second one was Leicester away in the Premier League as well not many remember that one he took another Robbie Fowler’s records as well at the the weekend didn’t he goals against Southampton uh and Salah just involved in all of Liverpool’s big moments should have had a match ball should have maybe had a match ball here we go so in total seven shots five big chances that he he actually had in total but here we go you can see his involvement there he’s looking at at the far post 14 touches he had in the opposition box as well decent save there he’s working on the far post probably disappointed he hasn’t scored there this is great isn’t it he’s linking up with Conor Bradley he he just knows what’s around him it’s not goals it’s chances he creates as well he creates this big chance CU Nunes is just firing that ball across and I thought it was a good Ball but Diaz have been been on the pitch a couple of minutes and he maybe just couldn’t adjust his body wasn’t up to the speed of the game and just misjudged M Ed the cross coming in from Nunes there otherwise that was a goal uh big moment wasn’t in the chance this was to get his hat this was Salah we’re three to up just seal the game put this in the back of the net for us how many times have you seen him do that just fire the ball into that far top Corner bang this time he got it wrong off Target but yeah that would have been his hattick and the Chance where he hits the post look where he picks the ball up that’s just around our own penalty area he releases the ball forward he carries on running and then he gets himself into that position so he starts pretty much to move off in that right back position he’s shouting give me the ball at the back post it comes to him Struck it so sweetly didn’t he he struck it so well and a little bit like soers Li when it hits the post you’re never really sure where it’s going to go it could hit the post could go in unfortunately it was a little bit unlucky as it came back off the post it didn’t go in for the hat-trick he was gutted wasn’t he I think we were all gutted but he done enough anyway what a performance Conor Bradley had played nearly 180 minutes for his country while he was away but just looked full of energy I thought it was outstanding yeah I thought Connor Bradley was absolutely outstanding in the game game he’s coming time and time again hasn’t he for for Trent this was his first Premier League start of the Season his last one was Crystal Palace last season at home and and you can see his involvement he got forward time and time again he caused Southampton all kinds of problems I put that in it was a yellow card because that’s the 13th minute of the game he had to manage his yellow card really well and I thought he did got forward well he got back he had good energy you know near gets himself an assist here decent goalkeeping to deny the cross coming in from that right hand side he’s in the center of four position looking that he’s a center forward fighting for the ball in the Box he holds it up I mean that’s good Center forward play his right back really good from Conor Bradley nearly scores you know he’s firing it away is that a shot we’ll have to ask him about that one or was it a cross but he’s in those areas on a yellow card got to time them challenges times it really well stops the counter attack for Southampton and then we go again go on let’s go and get out Southampton again 91st minute that is Connor Bradley winning the ball high and making a run into the box full of energy it really was outstanding incredible um heat map he’s all over the place certainly on that right side I think he touched every blade didn’t he yep yeah getting forward defensively as well if if you’re looking at that he actually ran the most 11 and a half kilometers in the game he also made 22 Sprints which was the most of anyone on the pitch and he was involved in the attacking zones three shots he had six touches in the opposition box and like you said he played pretty much two games for Northern Ireland absolutely superb
