so some Transfer News s wanel Smith has signed for the stones from B City he’s back with the club he left only six months prior so back home at his home from home Nigel yeah and we all know what what sold about and we know what he brings to the to the team don’t we you know he’s got that little bit of turn of speed he can run into the box and running behind you know I know he’s been one very much sort of like when he’s have conversation R Us he’s you know if he wins a that goes down to theist to these books oh yeah so we know these players are like they’re very fastidious with these things aren’t they yeah exactly quite rly too and that’s that’s something that that he’s got um got in his locker isn’t it so I mean even George mentioned it in the km before um the B game you know they know what what he’s about so you know it’s not about making that challenge and trying to because referees will call if you on The Blind Side and you just sort of run with a player and come coming together nine times out of 10 you’re going to winning a free kick or a penalty or or whatever so and and as well the good side of that is that we’ve now got players that can take free kicks we saw Charlie Sean at T key didn’t we and Ben Brooks can strike a free kick and you know so we’ve got these dead bull Specialists now that can you know even Sam K can you know can put a good delivery in there so you know just it’s just an added threat isn’t it and we know we know he’s bad and I think from his point of view it’s just a little bit of Unfinished Business yeah so in goal Joe right signed from gway United in the summer having previous experience in South with B City Finlay Western signed from alot back in July and despite only being 19 Finn halter is in his fourth season with eastor getting his first starts for the club this season so Nel Adam Murray found his new number one Joe Wright in the summer he’s had a pretty good start to the season so far hasn’t he we’ve said it in many of these previews your number one is is is your core and your backbone to to everything that you can achieve and we know they went fulltime beginning of last season and it didn’t really work out for them then he just sort of avoided relegation in the last few weeks of the season but yeah I think the ground running not get the ground running because I don’t mean there’s any team that’s really taken it by the metal and R of it but you know they’ve been out there for majority of the season and they’ve just been consistent and we’ve said it before we the team that’s going to win this league is just going to be the team that’s going to be the most consistent and at the moment they’re proving to be one of those teams yeah so in defense Scott Leslie is in his second season after moving from Auburn back in 2023 Isaac pit BL joined from Hampton and Richmond in the summer Dan quick another one with a name from my 1976 Roy the Rover annual he has already made more than 50 appearances for the sports after coming through the palace youth ranks Musa diara signed permanently from bar in the summer after a lone spell with eastor in the second half of last season David ceesay had 11 years at Watford start his career he signed for from wouth last season Freddy Carter signed from Gillingham at the start of last season having initially come through East born’s Youth Academy Delwin du has yet to feature this season at time of recording Pierce bird scored the third best goal of the afternoon back on Good Friday when the two teams last met he signed permanently from filed in the summer after a lone period last season so Nigel number of players who were on the pitch last Easter and they’ve clearly stepped up with full-time Football under Murray this season again you know just going through the names I think Dan quick was one of the ones that was sent off wasn’t he had two players I was going to say I’m sure sure he was one one of the players that was red carded that day um yeah then as we say that that that go from beard bird S I know it’s a cracking go it you know just called it sweet as I that and it’s like one of those that you know you know it’s hit the goal soon as it soon as it leaves your foot obviously masone did come out on top that afternoon but yeah it’s it’s it’s probably you know they’ve settled in there haven’t they I me Murray came Adam Murray came in Midway through last season and he’s he’s kind of started to get the players in he wants to get in he’s used to working in that full-time model so again you’ve got to get players in that are suited to that and you know you never see that a team suddenly goes fulltime and they’re suddenly up the top of the league it’s always going to be a two or three year sort of process isn’t it so I know we saw that with altringham as well for example this season we had National League up against them very first game they’ve slowly built as well transition exactly that and you know you just you just get better players in your players go on to a higher level and then you get players in better players from the youthmy from from the local area so yeah it’s uh it’s all about that stability isn’t it I mean we’ve talked been in other previews about newly promoted teams and getting that blend of used an experience but if you’ve got that experience in that club and you can build it up and and you’re used to your surroundings and like you said a lot the younger players they’ve got back that have been sort of like the Youth Academy jilling them and and they’ve now come back to the local area and you know they’re uh they’re thriving so the Midfield consists of Brad Barrett Club Captain he’s in his third season with the sports Jack Clark is in his second season East ball having signed from Chesterfield in 2023 Michael clar is the first of today’s former Stones against the stones he made a Stones debut against his current employer back in March in that 5-1 Stones win Charlie Gibson a youth product of their Academy Dominic Osa another one on the leftt former Stone against the stones he had three years with us and featured heavily in the title Winning Side in 2122 Braden Johnson is another youth product who has featured in almost every match so far this season sha Williams is not not buried from his standers he signed in the summer after two years with Gillingham and also had eight years with mwall so that might un explain the London East End and Maidstone confusion perhaps and Courtney Clark started his career at West Ham and had a breakout campaign with South Shields last season so Nigel more stones on display as well as some youngsters from up and down the country yeah exactly and again we know what we know what we’re going to come up against don’t we and at um was he jham I think he was there the end of last season and um again brings that experience but then we’ve got Dom and uh Michael clar in there as well I mean Dominic you know he bit of a fan favorite he wasn’t he was I think he was one of the one players that when we did go up to National League he he didn’t look out of place I mean nobody really shun out in that season but he looked all right you know you you can see that he you know he’s a try isn’t he and that’s what he he’s like and he pops up with the odd goal here and there and yes seems always seems popular with his teammates so yeah again it’s it’s like we talked about before isn’t it it’s you know they used players that are used to that model you know that model of training I mean it’s a similar set up to what we’ve got here at East born so for the players like uh Dom and Michael CL you know theyve all they’re all sort of used to that so so up front s lenzo is another former filed player who ad don’t worry has has previously worked with George Alexander is the sports current top scorer he was one of the first summer signings after he departed from chelsford Finn Ballard McBride is in his second season at eastborne he is an Australian his time in Austria not the other way around jayen Davis joined from brain Tre in the summer after he helped them get promoted to the National League last season will Harley is another Academy graduate he scored in the 2-2 draw with dwking back in August Alie PVE is another form stone against the stones he scored 8 and 10 with farra at the start of last season before switching to eastborn this summer via brentry and woking Yaya Bamber is in his second season with the sports having joined from cray wers in March and Stefan vuko is a Brighton and Southampton graduate in his second season at prior Lane so Nigel plenty of National League South experience in this front line and they’ve played their part in East born’s current lofty league position yeah I mean you mentioned the two um brain Tre players there of course you know they they forward line but one they would have been behind both Shaq and Aron Blair at bra tree last year so and then they added George Alexander as well another one that’s that’s uh been around the leagues I think he’s been at Dartford is he Dartford SLA chelsford you know he’s always scored goal J’s G never you know Mega prolific but just chips him with the OD gold here and there and you know it’s all you need sometimes so in their last seven League games prior to hosting bath they had one four and lost two so very much near the top of the table of form considering whether we’re at the end of last season when we last played them nital it’s night and day really isn’t it yeah of course it is and they’re going to come in coming to the gallago um full of confidence aren’t they um I don’t think they’ve got particularly good record here uh in the past but you know they’re going to be confident they sitting top of the form table you say near the top of the table and uh We’ve you know made an Indi start home you know George and Craig have talked about it being a a fortress but uh we’ve had two sort of like Scrappy onee wins haven’t we against horn church and himl here and uh for all the possession that we’ve got we’ve had in those games you know one goal and you you’re hanging on a little bit at the end so you know hopefully they won’t make that same mistake as uh ch because you know they get punish you know he’s born a team of confidence so it’s going to be sort of again we’ve just got to get to our game plan be on the front foot keep that possession based football going that we we’re trying to instill and and hopefully get a goal early I mean we we’ve got goals early to be fair against against horn Church um we could have had a second one there couldn’t we um the offside goal but again you know the chances don’t go in and it’s a different game isn’t it you put yourself under that pressure so we just got to convert these chances that we’re getting and and and I’m sure we’ll be fine you just can’t leave anything in the changing room you just got to put it all out on the pitch and and leave it out there and that’s that’s all you want you know teams you know the fan base if you can see that you’re putting that effort in and you’re you know you’re gung-ho and going for it you know obviously don’t be gung-ho to the fact that you’re completely yeah was at the back and leaving great big goals like I see at the back but but you know actually go for it you know you know we need to get the fre we need to get three points you know we need to start putting these wins on the ball we’ve had a lot of draws you know we we’ve got that we had that unbeat and record away from home but there was a lot of draws in that you know so again sometimes it’s better to have you know two two wins and a loss rather than three draws isn’t it so you know let’s just go for let’s let’s really put a statement out and and show put on a show and and show the rest of the League what we’re about so in the head-to-head Stakes the stones did the double over the sports last season and have won four of the last five encounters since the world’s temporary pause back in March 2020 so Nigel a gap between the two sides in the table currently but do you think the stones will be up to continue in their recent form against eastor yeah like I just said there isn’t it you know getting getting to that point of the Season there where you you really just got to go caution to the wind and just really literally you know play on the front foot and take the game to the opp position and you know get that get a couple of early goals you get the cowd behind you you know all time it’s one nil in game you can feel that tenseness again in in it you know I was commentating with with Fred on the horn Church game and though we got the goal early as we started the second half you could feel that tension around and it goes quiet and you know the gro again it’s sort like you know it’s not easy to play in that but you know the answer to that is don’t let that be a factor go in get a couple of goals and enjoy it you know enjoy playing football you know you’re playing in front of you know 2,000 plus crowds every week enjoy the experience and and just go for it you know what have you got to lose you know it’s just one of those that you know if you start winning games at the football at the home you’re the the you know people bring their friends people bring their mates and it becomes much more of a pleasurable experience if you it’s anxious and tety and you know that transcends onto the onto the pitch and it just becomes difficult and you know it’s just it’s not enjoyable but you know it’s like let’s change this let’s let’s go out there and really make a statement and put a put a marker down for the rest of the league and say look you know this is what we’re about this is what we we are and let’s let’s get these three
