I really like both of these teams obviously Memphis is coming off that Maui that they beat Yukon in and uh well actually ran off to the finals until they lost to Auburn uh their their only two losses this year being that loss to Auburn however they did just lose to Arkansas state which is something that you got to talk about Clemson on the other hand obviously they are uh are fresh off of going one and0 in ACC play at Miami that win is whatever but the the one that everyone’s talking about is the Kentucky win and I think that the only team who likes that more than Kentucky is Boise State given that they beat Clemson uh very interesting game Penny Hardaway is about the the opposite of everything that I know Clemson University to be so uh we’ll we’ll see what’s going on what are you looking from the Tigers whichever one particularly fancy in this one yeah we’ll start with Clemson right now because they’ve been playing some really good basketball and as quiet as it might be kept guy I think Brad Brown L is turning into a BigTime coach like I I know man I don’t like hearing it either I don’t like saying it but he might be he went to the uh elad eight last season and they just knocked off Kentucky like Clemson’s pretty they’ve been consistantly good obviously that Boise State game but they’ve been brell has found himself on the hot seat for like I think every single year of my life but he’s like he’s so far off of it now oh yeah absolutely no I I look I can make all those jokes I want he’s actions speak louder than words and I’m clearly very quiet compared to what he’s been doing no I think it’s a great point that you bring up because rare is the occasion where we see a coach or someone on the hot seat like putting being put on a performance Improvement plan and they overshoot expectations so much that they’re like all right yeah you’re good now like we’re not We’re Not Gonna fire you um but yeah they they rise to the occasion against good good teams and this is a big spot right uh Memphis has played only one true Road game against UNLV they did win that game but it was by six little JN is a tough place to play for sure uh and Shufflin man I think he kind of reminds me of Jonah Hill but that guy is unbelievable on the glass he he’s just does Endless motor uh he can’t necessarily shoot but he’s gonna provide toughness grittiness and extra possessions I think in that same vein Clemson’s gonna have to outrebound Memphis and I think they will because of that man Mr sheflin uh Clemson though here’s the key they need to defend the three-point line because Memphis shoots 44% from out there they can shoot that thing so if they can limit those three-point BigTime shots on the road like crowd silencers I think Clemson will be in a good spot but I think the two keys to this game come down to rebounding which I’m confident in because of shefflin Defending that three-point line Clems is gonna have to uh continue to do that yeah and I think that what I’m really looking for if I’m Clemson is uh I’m looking to shut down future American Athletic Conference player of the year should have been American Athletic Conference player of the year last year PJ Hagerty for the Memphis Tigers uh He is unbelievable and look you want to talk they they’re coming off the arkans Arkansas state loss whatever you know who’s fault the Arkansas state loss was not hagy yeah it was it was Haggerty he scored 29 Points went eight for 15 from the field I mean what more do you want the guy to do uh he he’s doing the best he can and I think that if they want a shot in this one he might have to go for 40 points uh obviously Ian shefflin is Ian shefflin and it’s anytime that I think that you can be a better team after losing a guy like PJ Hall who who’s kicking in the kicking around in the NBA or the g-league right now it’s it looks pretty good for you I think the other guy who uh obviously is really interesting if you’re a Clemson Tigers fan is of course Chase Hunter he’s a guy who’s been there for what feels like the past decade and a half uh everything with Clemson I feel like is just has been happening my whole life I don’t remember a Clemson that chase Hunter wasn’t on uh uh that’s besides the point I’m losing the thread uh I I do think that uh he is going to have his hands full trying to deal with Tyrese Hunter and PJ Hagerty in the back court that being said uh Dane Daner and Ian shefflin are the same shape and I think uh Ian shefflin is sort of just a a better version of that shape than Dane dja is I don’t know about that on the offensive end I I I I I’m looking more to the guards but d I don’t know I think I think he’s a lot more athletic than than Ian shefflin maybe I’m not giving shefflin uh enough credit I’m not say I’m not saying shefin I just wanted to make the comment about them being the same shape to be honest fair enough look I still like Memphis I I understand somehow that Arkansas State loss is is a Q4 loss like I don’t think people realize that Arkansas State’s pretty darn good uh and I think they’re gonna Q4 loss yeah yeah no Memphis losing to Arkansas State yeah Arkansas state is that low in the net I that’s what I heard on uh parish and norlander podcast um I’m pulling up the net rankings I gotta you you got to Hope if you’re Memphis to they they run through the Sun Belt and that eventually becomes like a Q3 loss but I was shocked when I heard that too uh that’s that’s a oh wait no sorry I’m looking at AR I’m an idiot uh Arkansas state is 113 in the the net that’s not a Q4 game that’s a at home that’s a Q3 game okay fine good that that’s better all to say that I still like Memphis um I think Clon though is is gonna slow this game down and they’re gonna be able to do that at home um they’re they’re a slow Pac team and I also think the acquisition of Jaden Zachary uh through the portal from College Legend yeah yeah rough hairline on on Mr Zachary but he’s been he’s been playing very well no disrespect uh he’s been playing well but look Clemson’s gonna slow it down I think they’re gonna outrebound the Tigers and I think they’re going to defend them pretty well from from three so uh I I got I’m leaning Clemson in this one I think I’m leaning Clemson too will get into that uh that final score prediction presented by dimer Pro in just a second here I think think that when you look at these rosters I mean looking at the rosters I have to give the advantage to Memphis I know that’s crazy and it might just be because of my blind love of Memphis every year that gets the rug pulled out from under me every year and I crack my head open liking Memphis but PJ Hagerty I’ve long said is one of those guys who I just love in college basketball he’s so fun to watch he was I would watch Tulsa games last year solely for PJ Haggard do you know how crazy you have to be to have no a affiliation with Tulsa and to want to watch Tulsa basketball I mean it’s a it’s a crazy thing to want to do but PJ Hagerty is just that special I think I I mean I I said it earlier I thought he should have been American Conference player the year last year that being said Clemson has just looked better recently the Arkansas state loss I don’t feel that bad about because Arkansas state is again a a decent team they played it close with Alabama I mean the rice and hofra losses don’t look good but this is a team that is blew out Little Rock beaten akan team that I really like it it’s just they’re low in the net because their wins have been close when you only beat Jackson State by two that’s just what’s going to happen and a Jackson State team that’s still searching for their first win um so moving into that final score prediction I want to be high on Memphis I just can’t reason pick them to win uh that being said I’m actually not going to pick anyone to win I’m going to say the Tigers beat the Tigers uh 83 to 77 but I I’ll I think Clemson’s gonna win I I think Clemson’s gonna win 8377 I just wanted to do the tigers tigers thing what do you what about you subie that’s very clever guy very very cheeky there uh it’s funny couldn’t have thought of it really it was that’s my genius in that play see that I see that now um you talk about getting the rug pulled out from under you that’s actually kind of been Clemson the last couple Seasons like they’re good in November and December and I never really believed in them because come the turn of the year they kind of fold that was put I couldn’t have picked New Mexico any faster in the tournament last year against Clemson and and you know what Clemson actually had a pretty strong 2020 early 2024 okay so now they’re again off to a fast start that’s what Brad Brownell does but that that tournament run plus beating Kentucky and making them look kind of bad like a bad shooting team okay that was Mark Pop’s fault for not putting in Kobe BR I don’t know they they ran some action and and Clemson just shut it down so I I think Brad Brownell has is now making that turn into a big-time coach I might be a little ambitious there but that’s just my thought uh and I think Clemson wins this game at home it’s huge that they’re at home they win this 77 to 73 again similar scores there for us uh I had a slightly wider margin for Clemson actually which is funny because I feel like I’ve been the Memphis
