and only thing I could say is this we made enough plays on defense to keep us in the game till the offense got rolling a little bit and we have to be careful now what we we what we’re how I’m seeing this trend starting to go m so what tends to happen often times is that when you have a a offense that really does well starts fast and put up a lot of points um if the defense doesn’t doesn’t match that energy that intensity then they start to kind of drag a little bit and I think that’s what we’re seeing a little bit from the offense from my perspective the defense you know was starting a little slow on offense we had some some miscues we had some drops we had some fumbles and it’s almost like they’re trying to feed off the defense almost they’re trying to assist the defense in a sense to see what they’re going to do in order for us to perform we got the W is not what I expected again the running back I don’t know what happened somebody said I don’t I don’t know how we held him to a zero points in the second half I think the running back got hurt uh he wasn’t 100% after that return didn’t seem like he was 100% they kept taking him in and out we could not stop that young man and it it’s it’s a little it’s a little sad but at the end of the day it’s a w we 10 and one but again I don’t know if this is championship football I don’t know if this is beating SMU type of football and we do have a team next week in Syracuse we go on the road to the against the old school Carrier Dome up in uh up Upstate Upstate um New York and and they put up points they got a good running back interception um and their quarterback was eight of 14 they only threw the ball 14 times well that’s not true the other quarterback came in three so 17 times for 99 yards total uh for them rushing wise playbo on the running back what you just speaking of was 9 for 62 and he also had the kickoff return for 104 yards I believe uh he returned that back as well but receiver they only had 99 yard they had 94 yards rushing and they had 99 yards receiving uh so like I said we kept him to a minimum under 200 defense actually showed up today you know but I think you have a very valid point in regards to the caliber of team in which we were facing um but the defense show showed up right we didn’t we weren’t eating cereal with a fork out there we weren’t just you know stuff spilling everywhere so I I think we we did okay so let me put it let let me let me put this in perspective we’re fast let me put it in perspective because people people they like the money Morning Quarterback and they they ain’t you cootes at the time when they were scoring touchdowns and moving the ball that young man am I’m am I mistaken was the intrical part of moving the ball down the field am I correct in that true or false coach Hayes oh yes that’s true number one I said at the beginning was a problem and long as we keep him on the route we should be okay uh but like I said I think after that long run he started throwing up he went to the lock room he he got hurt so yeah at the end of the day he he was he he wasn’t himself in the second half that’s one of the only things that stopped the young man they would have kept feeding him the ball he kept drives alive we got to stop this yeah he wasn’t getting 30 yard 40 yard runs that’s what I’m saying absolutely he was we got to watch these games and think analytically I didn’t say the man had 150 yards rushing but he couldn’t be stopped he was moving the ball for that it was only him and the freaking quarterback and one or two receivers if that we gotta stop this we gotta stop it as Kane’s fans and I’ll say this from a from a a um from a special team standpoint as well great job creating a fumble on him and I think that kind of just was the dagger in his heart in essence thank you thank you swerve for being for for being objective swer where swerve at swerve said the game changed thank you swer what what Young Brother a thank you my young brother swerve game changed when Clayborn got injured sh thank you thank you you you are a a person who could look at the canes objectively and give critique these dudes up here got got their panties in a bunch I’m not angry I’m just pointing out the obvious you got people saying this young man didn’t have an impact on the game he clearly did he clearly had an impact on the game we have to I’m I’m talking big trash I was in my K crazy State um and I’ll just say this about the ks uh I really feel we’ll go 11 and one um I don’t know how we’ll feel right now as I’m looking at this in the ACC Championship but one thing we have been is consistently inconsistent um ever since the VTech game and I think we now clearly know we are who we are what we see what we saw today is what we saw the week before that the week before that the week before that the week before that and I don’t see it changing in seven days now uh it’s been seven weeks and we’ve been consistently who we are and I just don’t see it changing next week and the week after that so forth and so on um so what we’re going to have to do is like we literally just wore wake Force down and like you said when the young man got hurt we took away that star and that’s what it was didn’t shine so bright anymore um you know 12 as I look at this and I say to myself I’m optimistic but I’m also realistic and and my realistic point my optimistic point of view is well we gonna go in here and we gonna drink some magic powder and the boys goingon to have some cane juice and we going come out here just blowing cats out but being realistic says you know what we may beat Syracuse by seven by 4 and A2 whatever that whatever the line may be and then we go to the ACC Championship game and it’s going to be a nailbiter that’s just how I’m looking at it SMU put in work today on Virginia you understand what I’m saying and uh it just what it is I just have to take it for what it is and I I I applaud all of the players uh this was senior day for all of the guys that are leaving this program whether they’ve aged out or deciding to go to the NFL F I thank you for that last home game I appreciate it and it’s all good and it’s all thunder lightning with with Mark Fletcher coming back next year as well as Jordan L I think Daman Martinez will move on uh from this program but I think that’s just what it is man and and and for the receiving jacobe George man I can’t say how proud I am of this dude from a behavioral and attitude standpoint um he’s tightened up 12 seven of 91 for two tubs a royal six for 79 Xavier stpo had a down day today in my opinion um and that drop that they couldn’t call it a drop at kind of at the goal line right before the half he intentionally in my opinion did that cuz he you know him he’ll try to get up under that ball it looked like he went and he kind of pulled off knowing the situation that the clock would have continued to run so he knew let me not catch it let’s just let it die I’m Not In thoughts on cam Ward’s play today I I I think he he did some of the things we spoke about he he did take some of the checkdowns um but he also played Superman on a couple other plays that you know that’s what you get with him the one he tried to underhand that play was dead but I think for the most part I would say he threw the ball away and he played within the system as far as taking what they gave us and we’re going to need more of that going forward said the interception was something he tried to make happen that’s some of the things we talk about uh that was bad play I don’t know if he did enough to it’s flashy enough to overtake Travis whoever’s in the lead right now I think he’s still in the race though it wasn’t you know 500 yard performance six touchdowns but he commanded he commanded the offense he made some big throws and he got the dub and that’s all that matters yeah like I said 280 threw the little you know try to be Superman with that end up throwing that interception so that doesn’t that doesn’t necessarily help his um his hopes with that kind of stuff but let me ask you this going forward there’s one more regular season game Syracuse but is this the Miami you were thinking of when we pick up cam Ward out the transfer portal we we we got the recruiting we know X was coming back we saw the running back room we saw the defense was this the Miami Hurricane team in which you thought would be would be showcasing these 12 games here that’s a good question I I thought we were win 10 so we are at 10 now and I don’t know in what fact I I I did think that I retract it yes yes and no the yes part of it I did believe that the offense would be good yes and yes let me tell yes and yes I thought the offense would be good because we have all these transfers we have coaches coming back and we we you know cam came in with the nio deal and everything and I thought that with all the transfers on the defensive side of the ball that the defense would be much improved and so yes I I thought we would be a a a winning program I just thought the defense would play a lot better and that hasn’t happened thus far but yeah I I this is the team I thought it would be I didn’t think it would be you know a a 2000s or or team from back in the days where the defense was dominant but I was I expected more from the defense preseason yeah I I did too I thought you know people talk about the high powerered offense I get it um but I did think as a whole we would we would be more explosive offensively and defensively from creating pressures and sacks on the defensive side of the ball I know we may have had some issues in regards to the back end but I thought our front end would help our back end um with creating pressures getting quarterbacks off time not being able to throw the ball there was times back there wake fors my man was back there just I think he counted how many bumps was on the dog on football he was like one two three I got to th four let me throw this and so especially looking at the Ruben Bane looking at mesidor looking at Tyler Baron looking that simia Barrow those guys coming in I’m like okay there’s only five all offensive linemen keep a running back in that’s six everybody can’t double everybody somebody’s gon to get free and create a lot more pressure um or or at least sacks or at least creating pressure keeping that quarterback kind of on his heels and that’s that just didn’t transpire um and I talked about Maui go Maui Noah excuse me uh being a being a single man Blitz guy and what he what kind of pressures he could create by being that fifth rusher to the quarterback and when they did it he seemed to be successful from a percentage standpoint right percentage wise he was successful but we didn’t do it a lot with him um and so that’s where I kind of think we are right now uh we we can open up these lines here let let the que build up a little bit if we like let’s do that let me go we what analytic say for you to forth and to if you got a defense ain’t no coaches thinking about going for fourth and 11 people let’s think about that and they got it that’s just to show you that you know at the end of the day that that’s who we are and if your expectation is 10 to1 11 to1 probably in ACC go to the playoffs and that’s where it stops then guess what it’s a win-win Andy we have a winning season under Mario first time we won 10 games in the long time and clap it up for the Youth that’s how I look at it coach yeah real quick shout out to Studio in the building I don’t know if he are who we are we’re talking about a Georgia Tech right we talking about Georgia Tech we talking about a uh Cal VTech these type of teams that’s what that’s all we’re saying I’m done talking about it running game could be an option uh inter um injecting LS into the into the lineup I think helped because a lot of I don’t believe a lot of Team Scouts they Scout for l so they only kind of scout for my teers and Fletch and so to throw a wrinkle which I appreciate I appreciate Dawson going into the to the trick bag and putting l in for a change of pace I thought it was great and he produced so did like I I did like to change up moving me PW down to Nickel that’s his natural position I think that’s going to help us move forward too and just you know on the back end I think they had 15 back football but you know we got to go up in New York next week and make it happen because you know the Syracuse is a different animal than uh wake for to you so I agree with v12s the the level of competition and everything man I’m I’m with them all the way but um we gotta win man if we don’t win we gotta win next week to get into that ACC Championship which I think we gonna be in Championship so uh two people I want to shout out uh is l and a Royo man they they shined in this game you know I’m glad we starting to use the Royo but it’s just a couple things offense uh I’m kind of we keep doing this East West I mean quarterback catch the ball from and and turn towards the sideline throwing I mean we gota we got to throw past the sticks you know and we we could be successful we got to run the ball and throw past the sticks that’s what we need to do now there’s a whole lot of different concepts when it comes to pass patterns on that um that route tree that we can use and we got to to be aggressive when we do this what’s surprising from the beginning of the season to now is our offensive line and defensive line I mean Ruben bang we gotta contain we’re not containing the running back was getting out on us in the beginning of this game and wait for us and there’s some good running backs as we go and play these bigger teams there’s some running backs out there that can take it to the house so we got to be able to contain you know we haven’t been hearing Ruben Bane uh I seen mesidor made a play in this game I seen molon made a play but it’s we got to be sound a sound defense and we gotta have discipline because we overp pursuing a lot of times and we missing things I can see it now so and and also we know the DBS in the back I seen the coach uh G in the middle of the game the second half made an adjustment it seemed like in the secondary he made an adjustment but uh we’ll see like I said uh football is football any game anything is possible but I’m I’m rooting for our needed that um and I’m I’m happy the defense you know showed up that’s what you’re supposed to do to a team that is not threatening you to anything else so I have to get G credit for that maybe adjustment did not allow for a onedimensional team to to do what they did when we played Georgia Tech right so I have to give I have to give you know give kudos for that but like I said we know we have issues and it’s game 11 so I mean those issues I don’t know if they could be rectified what the situation is but if we really want to make if we don’t want to be one and done or if we want to assessment of how he’s played thus far and who is our defensive leader if we have one so if funny you bring that up I said that in a couple shows ago I guess that we don’t have a defensive leader per se right like we know cam on the offensive side is that guy right um but when it comes to the defense last year it was the cam kitchens okay and the James Williams right that tandem this year Maui Noah was I thought played extremely well around other guys like the Corey flags and the mixture of the Wesley bints now Kiko doesn’t appear to be that guy I’m not saying he is or isn’t but he doesn’t appear to be a lot of times people think your leader is the most productive person on the football field and that’s not always the case the guy who makes the most tackles or who the most seen is not always the leader of your defense right it doesn’t always happen excuse me happen that way the krew is biting excuse me but so because we saw Kiko do what he did last year we automatically assumed that he would take over that role when cam kitens left and that not that is not necessarily the case on the back end they’re relatively young so far as playing experience in the front side they’re all new right Tyler Baron doesn’t seem to be very vocal Simeon Barrow not vocal mesidor not necessarily vocal Ruben Bane has always been a quiet young man right very productive but a quiet young man and again you don’t have to be loud to be a leader but I’m just saying so to your point I brought this up I don’t think we have a Bonafide leader of the defense right now that people look to and say okay and the reason I know that is because you saw it in the film everybody making a check not one person talking remember I said that you got too many voices going on and if everybody saying red red blue the mouth that the original expectations that people had 10 and two uh 11 in one sec championship game but we all have the same expectations but I think with how well we did at the beginning of the year people are just like oh man we actually might might be able to be better than that and now when things are starting to crash a little bit not even crash down but now that things are starting to settle back down to reality a lot of people are pissed and I’m like you guys are just pissed because you all pushed your expectations further than where they were at the beginning of the year we we didn’t know how we were going to look we we all knew we were GNA have a winning team but we did not know exactly how we were going to look and we came out at the beginning of the year and we smacked Florida in the mouth who ended up actually being a pretty good team with DJ lagway right now and I think people kind of got really excited as Miami fans do and now that the holes that our roster still has are starting to be noticed people are like man this is not a you know a good team like what’s going on and everything like that but the crazy part is we’re a 10- win team so I mean you can make that argument last year if TVD didn’t start throwing it to different color jerseys we probably would have been a nine- win team last year I think that for our dep secondary suspect because we don’t have a lot of dep there uh gri got a little too comfortable in being cute at the beginning of the year because it worked and now teams are starting to fix that and I think he got kind of uh kind of hard-headed and he doesn’t want to change and what’s crazy is our defense actually showed up the second half I think uh wck Forest didn’t complete uh a completion until like the halfway through the fourth quarter I’m pretty sure if I heard the announc correctly something like that yeah yeah yeah cam we always told we always got mad at him for not taking the checkdowns he was taking the checkdowns but he was still being himself while taking the checkdowns which which might be frustrating and what’s crazy he threw for 280 yards and two touchdown and our running our rushing game showed up l’s going to be just straight dog um and not to mention you know we got we got younger uh people that were recruiting Gerard Pringle who had a hell of a game for Armwood uh secondary our secondary class this year is just stupid so I just think that gotta we are who we are and we’re just we’re we’re not where we want to be yet but we’re taking steps I’m not saying that I’m happy with how the team is performing but at the end of the day we’re still a 10- win team we’re still had we still have an opportunity to win our first ACC Championship since Miami entered the ACC so complain do whatever you guys have to do but just understand that we are not where we want to be yet but we are taking the correct steps it’s not like we’re losing stupid games we’re still winning but we’re just we’re just taking that step I know it’s going to be frustrating nobody’s going to be happy until we win and championship and even then people are going to complain about how some parts of the team were still bad during the year so I just people just need to breathe understand like I understand you’re frustrated but to only have two seasons in the LA in the last 20 years 10 wins or or 10 wins momentum and stuff going he should keep it going look at that little um look at the the little screens that the little Robert S screens they run the whole season we might probably the biggest play we done got out of that was hell two or three damn yards why you keep running that why you why you keep running it it it don’t work it’s it’s a waste of down that just like every time we get the second down or whatever we run the ball like uh duh they they’ve been doing the same [ __ ] every every game and it’s like I said it just throws it throw the whole offense off balance because they’re like struggling um you know the second quarter and third quarter this was and and as bad as we get on our defense this was a game that I think the defense had to have and to answer your question from earlier on who’s the lead on the defense that’s that’s is GNA have to be uh was it PW the guy that got 6 six is going to have to be him it’s going to have to be him and I like the move that we’re making bringing him closer to the line of scrimmage okay I don’t trust him as a deep safety not because he’s not good but I think it’s mainly because uh when you put him oneone against a wide receiver he gets he gets deep deep that’s just plain and simple I like him more and the and the you know Nichol side where he can still kind of have that because of his safety skills and and his ability to read coverages um and that gives him less of a space to cover and it makes him more effective but I noticed when when he went down there as well the communication in the secondary um is has become better we did not give of any overthe toop plays today if you really think about it and I know we get and I know it’s not what you know it’s not the dominant dominant defense that we all wanted to see but if we be honest one of the biggest concerns that we had over the year was explosive play and we’ve been giving it up to bad teams and good teams today we did not really have that problem so I’m cool with that we have to we have to keep that Str going make teams um Drive the ball more and when we get in second uh in the Red Zone we a to come up with you know stops and field goal which was another thing that I like today was our defense got put in situations especially in the second half where they had to come up with stops and they came up with stop gotta um the other point that V12 made which I do agree that they in in in some type of way disrespect our defense I think it’s more of not necessarily I think it’s more of they respect our offense too much because one thing you don’t want to do is okay you get a three and out you give to cam cam W the ball right back as good as that offense is you give them more chances to figure your defense out the more chances they’re going to score so I think that plays a bigger part into it than them not respecting our defense although I do agree with that sentiment I just think it’s more the of of how good the offense can be right I think that plays more into but overall good game um especially in the fourth quarter for my defense and I’m hoping that the pick six that power got is a fire starter that shows if you do your job you can make spectacular plays I think that’s been our problem on defense overall is it’s always been that one blockage that keeps our defense from being really really good and I think that was and so I think I I think he showed his game if you play your responsibility and do your job you can get more turnovers you can create more havoc and I and I’m waiting to see that defensive line be the Clark you know with Meador inside he’s not really a big guy so I think what what happens sometimes is is you kind of in a sticky situation right because you got these transfer portal players coming in so to a degree you gotta play them a little bit to get them that still may need to get to the league because then when the next transfer portal window open up if dudes is coming in and they ain’t doing no better or they had they became worse off in Miami that look bad so I think now what happen Tyler Bur play that much as much today we saw some Malik Brown we saw some more people I was like finally you know they playing other dudes like the Freshman man they balling out these freshman speci every time Bobby pu get in the game he do something the man and qu a pick this year two fumble recoveries I think he got a sackur day or something and a lot of people not talking about the boy Dylan day either he he a beast on special teams he he been making plays all this year too and then him that Fletcher and Martinez don’t have so I actually like us using him a lot more because one he’s he’s still a big back he’s powerful two he could jump cut he can float he could cut back and all those things and I think that gives us a different Dynamic and my last point I heard a follower mention something about the offense the reason offense go goes into these you know these little points and not getting no points is because we actually got too many damn weapons and um and Dawson is trying to balance out what to do to a degree you got the tight ends you gotta keep a royal involved then cam ward has to throw a lad or it’s like he loses his rhythm so you kind of don’t want to take the ball out of his hands but then you’re limited in the Run game and then a lot of people gotta realize a lot of our plays are RPO so cam is making the final decision we could run the ball a lot more we running and and it look like we know it’s a run play we get a lot of good yards the only run plays that don’t work is when it’s that RPO with the offensive line really can’t push too far because they don’t know if they gonna gonna pull and throw the ball but when we actually determined to run I remember one Play Fletcher and Martinez was in the game and I think I think a Fletcher might have took or Martinez took the ball and Fletcher was boxing for him and you seen them both had like looking Wednesday I’m going definitely try to get it in because we know that Wednesday is Thanksgiving I mean I’m sorry that Thursday is Thanksgiving but I’ll definitely try to get them in Tuesday Wednesday
