in New York City it is the first of the two Jimmy V classic games with Tennessee and Alabama look at Tennessee a 14 and a half Point favorite on the neutral floor maybe that’s a bigger indictment of Miami and some of the losses they have taken the total 145 in this one all right Jeff Nao kick things off here thoughts on Tennessee and Miami two different ades of orange in this matchup go ahead yeah this is a this a tough one uh because do I think Miami is bad as they’ve been I mean I don’t I don’t think but then again they kind of seem like they are I mean it they’ve lost a number of ways too I mean they’re putting up a bunch of points in losing then they’re uh not scoring a bunch and doing a nice job defensively in losing so I don’t really know what to make of them it does seem like uh the the world has kind of passed Jim Lena by this is not particularly good roster and now you got to run into arguably the best defense in the country um and look I think we’ve all talked about it here on the show Tennessee I think the question was could they get the job done on offense this season you know losing guys like Dalton connect and they absolutely have um this is a a a group that the trains running off the tracks and now you’re running into a brick wall I just don’t see how Miami can score the basketball I mean off the pathetic performance against Clemson I can’t imagine it’s going to get any easier here um Miami’s not a very good defensive team they never are even the good Miami teams are never good defensively this is all the makings of a of an 8560 type of game I can’t not I can’t not bet Tennessee is it going to be an official Play No but I just can’t make a particularly strong uh case for Miami here yeah I’m looking here it’s a six-game losing streak they still have Nigel pack as the hold over from the final four team a couple of years ago and you made the point that maybe the nil the transfer portal and all of that has uh has really flattened some programs and maybe Miami is one of those quick um one other quick point I will if I can make any case and maybe Matt will Miami does do some things I look for backing a big Underdog okay they do take care of the basketball and they are very good at the free throw line right they’re top 10 in the country in that metric and look if they can get into the half court and settled things they have been good on offense um but you know again some of the other things are glaring uh Matt Cox thoughts on this with Miami struggling neutral floor game Tennessee’s looked tremendous to start the year including on the total anything on the total here yeah actually kind of like the under here the games at the Garden um I think this could feel like a an uglier kind of a Barren type of neutral sight game I know the garden should have plenty of juice with these two programs but um just the way that Miami I think is trying to adjust I know Lara has discussed that his defense they did some retooling of how they operate they’re always really good in transition D I think they even make that a bigger priority today against Tennessee and they want to make Tennessee play in the half court right that’s where tennessy if there’s any vulnerability right now it’s in their half court offense although with the way Chaz lanir is shooting and their other guys have made shots there may not be any sort of real flaw but historically under Barnes if you want to keep Tennessee um you know you want to give yourself a chance against their physic ality on defense you have to keep them out of transition you can’t let Zigler get run outs you got to get back you got to sit down and defend for 30 seconds they did that pretty well against Arkansas and Clemson they just didn’t score enough um and I think they’ve been getting open shots so you know to Jeff’s point and to you know even the market starting to pick up on you know maybe this was too high he got bet down to 15 14 and a half um you know I almost like a little bit like a small money line sprinkle here just because you can see Miami randomly playing you know out of their you know over their skis and they have some Premier shot makers right like to loosen up this Ball’s defense you have to have some Pro Lev shot making and there are multiple on this team so whether they actually show up tonight or they go cold as they have the last few weeks I don’t know um but if anything I would take Miami and I do like the under at 145 and a half also look ahead we also look at what this roster is now uh for Miami and a lot of it is people that have come from smaller schools and now we’re trying to throw them into the ACC and make them uh be good players you know Brandon Johnson from East Carolina State McCrae who was at Samford you know this is not how you build a particularly strong ACC roster at least in my opinion um you know they still have one or two guys like naigel pack but I just don’t know if this roster is up to par but Matt does make a point they they were right in those games but this is a major step up um for me to get involved at Tibet Miami at this point I’m going to need a little bit higher number that’s just my thought but I could see his case where maybe they just start out that wildly good effort and maybe we find out Tennessee isn’t what we thought they were Jack Jack is theorizing the arena is 20% full at the Garden for the start of the game he may be giving 20% credit uh for being there uh do we have any concern that Tennessee has not played in a week last game was last Tuesday they did blow out Syracuse at home but now they’ve been off for a week does that factor in any at all boys yeah I think the the rust goes both ways it is Case by case I think sometimes teams like the the um the week off if they’re maybe not healthy or they have some guys they want to you know get in lineup but you know the teams that are playing really well I’m sort of I don’t know Jeff what you think I tend to think that the layoff is actually a bad thing you want to just keep going and going and and parl that momentum of playing well so we’ll see keep in mind Tennessee has won every game this year by 16 or more right even again even against their quality opponent so yeah I don’t really knock the scheduling just because they did have to go to that bajamar thing and you know they played some I wouldn’t say grueling games but you know you play Virginia for 40 minutes that defense you know Baylor’s got some great athletes but I think that shows you the level of how good Tennessee’s been no game has been closed so when you’re betting into this understand they have won every game by 16 or more and that that only that game was number the game uh number one that was every other game has been by 20 or more so uh it could could be tough or sorry 17 or more so it could be tough but still no live button coming out yet here even on a Tennessee team total from Brother na do on this again this game up at 6:30 eastern time from the NYC and uh ESPN will have the double header we’re going to talk about the other game in the double header coming up in a few moments here on BET USV so no official play but a lot of conversation six game losing streak for Miami could be seven if they’re not ready to play against the balls tonight and we shall see what happens in Game number one thank you for finding us a
