Fe week lost to witch to State and Wake Forest came back beat bethon cookman over the weekend and now here we are with a resume opportunity for Dawson Garcia Ben Johnson and the boys uh Minnesota the 100th best team in the country on kenpom Michigan state is at 36 right now and uh kenpom in this game has Michigan State winning by three on the road at the barn how are you feeling coming into this one do you feel well rested with a week to prep for this game yeah I I do feel well rested I feel good about it look the the barn has this Mystique about it I don’t know if it’s the elevated floor or what it is or just recent memory of Michigan State blowing games at the barn or losing games at the barn um but this is the game I think Michigan State should go into and feel very comfortable um obviously the match up with Dawson Garcia is going to be big I don’t know who’s going to draw that assignment but Dawson Garcia is a 610 killer um he is a really really good player outside of that nobody really on on Minnesota that scares me like Mitchell’s a good assist guy uh but let’s not get let’s not overthink it Dawson Garcia does everything for this team uh he rebounds he scores he even assists like he is a doit all like 610 forward for this basketball team who has had success against Michigan State in the past and I don’t know who’s going to draw that assignment but um even if Dawson Garcia does go off I don’t think this Minnesota team really has any other weapons that would scare me if I’m Michigan State yeah okay so you know how last year’s Minnesota team was like spunky and had some pieces yeah didn’t they they had Hawkins on the team right was he only Elijah Hawkins who’s at Texas Tech now Fel Payne who’s starting for Texas A&M cam Christie who is in the NBA uh they had some some good players and they were a spunky fun team right yeah a spunky fun team with some NBA talent and guys starting at other high Majors got Ben Johnson a 19 and 15 season spunk spunky fun Minnesota uh you know what happens when you take away all the spunky fun players from Ben Johnson he goes 9 and 22 like he did the year before this or 13 and 17 like the year before that uh this team has nothing but Dawson Garcia that’s my read maybe that’s a little bit harsh but I don’t think it is I really don’t think it is I mean you go through they beat bethon cookman by 17 Dawson Garcia had 23 uh you had one other player in double figures I mean I I don’t see it at all against Wake Forest uh Dawson Garcia was awful I mean wake’s not very good in my opinion I know they beat Michigan but like you just you had like Isaac assuma get you 11 Off the Bench your starters are so inconsistent Frank Mitchell Brennon rsby fota kle from game to game have been like guys you can’t trust at all so profile wise with Minnesota right now their defense is good it’s a 44th best defense in the country it grades out pretty well everywhere here um I think it’s largely just because they haven’t played any good offense this card I mean they haven’t played a top 60 opponent this season they’ve lost to every top 100 opponent they’ve played right and then they and in the games that they are winning against these high you know High ranked like they they won by four at home against Omaha yeah who’s 311th in the country yeah be by three be Central Michigan by three right Cleveland State they only beat by what 11 like they it’s it’s as much as I want to be like oh the bar Ben Johnson spunky Sparky round um this Minnesota team just kind of respectfully is not a good basketball team and if Michigan state is a good basketball team you beat Minnesota and it really shouldn’t be a struggle in my opinion either yeah yeah Kemp’s projected record for Minnesota right now is 14 and 17 on the season they’re six and three right now so do the math on that um I don’t think we’re being overly harsh offensively they got nothing they don’t shoot well 29% from three on the season 61% from the free throw line so like they they struggle to score really their only path forward is Dawson Garcia being dominant what is the matchup for Michigan State because if I was looking at one area of concern positionally for Michigan State Dawson Garcia is kind of the the matchup that scares me most right like you guys are prepared defensively to face RJ Davis or Mark Sears or though you have guards to throw at guards I think even if you saw a dominant Center like you have a plan like against Hunter Dickinson you you knew one-on-one this is what we’re going to do against the stretch four that can score from everywhere I don’t know what you do do you trust Xavier Booker coming off what he did against Carolina I I I honestly would double him okay I I would literally just run two at him this team they can’t shoot so like I’m not worried about like I I would help off the worst shooter which is everyone on the team they’re shooting 29% as a team from three which is still better than Michigan State ouch um but like I’m I’m helping off off some off anybody and just sending the double sending two at him um I don’t know if I coming off Maui I’m being like throw Xavier Booker at him I’m thinking Frankie Fiddler will get that assignment um um now obviously he’s got like what like six inches on Fiddler um if you’re putting Fiddler on Garcia I’m rethinking things who would you put on him um I mean what’s your starting lineup that’s a big question right jaay is supposedly back so are you going what are you going it’s gonna be different fidler came off the bench last game well like given the options who would you put on him could be it would be like the options would be any of the centers um Booker car crazy bidler can I get crazy yeah go ahead I might put Ain on him really that might be crazy but I when I watch Dawson Garcia I don’t think he likes to work in the post that much uh I think he will if he’s guarded by 63 J nain yeah I don’t know I don’t know I think he’s like a tough shot taker that makes [ __ ] tougher on himself that likes to pretend he’s a shooting guard and start at the perimeter and he probably can drive on Jaden and get to him but I feel like I don’t know he puts the ball on the floor a lot Jaden I think could get into his [ __ ] and make him uncomfortable I’m not saying do it for the the full game but like I I think if I’m Tom ISO I might just lean into what I feel my strength is defensively which is all these pasty guards let hollan Akens Jace kind of cycle through and just really put pressure on Dawson Garcia every time he catches if he drives yeah you send a a dig if you’re going to post him sure double him but I don’t I will I don’t trust Fiddler if it’s supposed to be Fiddler one-on-one he’s getting torched if you’re putting ker one-on-one with him he’s getting torched the only guy I think you can put even a little bit one-on-one is Cohen Carr who’s too small he’s probably getting torched and uh I don’t trust K car’s not quick enough to really pressure the perimeter he’s just is going to be strong down low I mean Booker’s the one guy shaped like Dawson Garcia I know Booker had loud moments against Carolina they were all offensively for the most part had one good block too yeah I don’t want I don’t want to do that um also I want to make it very very clear I ain’t saying let Frankie go at him one-on-one and leave him out there I I still want double sent I think I’d trust kler over Frankie that’s crazy crazy I don’t know man I that’s that that’s wild now I’m afraid of Dawson just going for 50 in this game that’s fine that the thing is that is completely fine because Dawson can go for 50 and we will win 609- 58 yeah you’re probably right probably right uh Michigan state is the second worst three-point shooting team by percentage in the country 363rd you are only ahead of Cleveland State by point 2% shot it better in Maui a little bit is this going to last like what are you gonna shoot from three in the barn death perception is real um against a pretty good defense too yeah against a pretty good defense um I think those are numbers are a little inflated given Minnesota does limit three-point attempts they’re top 50 in preventing three-point attempts so schematically they have been good at that listen this team is not going to be a no pun intended barn burner from three-point range uh but they I think eventually they will knock it down at a below average clip and right now it’s awful okay do you end the season in the 300s in three-point shooting no I think you do I don’t think there’s enough Shooters on this team I mean if right now Minnesota’s 287th and they’re shooting 29% from three yeah you don’t think we can get to 29% I mean you can um you’ve dug quite a hole here yeah nice hole you’ve dug quite a hole nice hole good hole you can uh yeah I mean yeah yeah Hollowman will make shots oh hament homecoming game Minnesota ah like that gotta start hollan at home don’t you why do I feel like Frankie Fiddler’s from Minnesota too he’s from Nebraska oh that makes sense yeah he’s from Nebraska um yeah I don’t I don’t I don’t know I I’m I’m interested to see what the starting lineup is for this game what would you do if you’re ISO well I think differently than Thomas my starting line would be Trey Trey Jaden Jace [Music] Frankie Coler what do you think Tomo does fearce Akens Beer’s Akin Jace Frankie zapala can I tell you what I think iso’s going to do in this game my shot for a moment please think he’s gonna start Jeremy Fierce I’m gonna complain about it but he’s gonna start Jeremy Fierce I think he’s gonna start Jay nens I think he’s gonna start Jace Richardson for the first time in for Trey Hollman which is a bummer I love Trey I think he’s gonna start Xavier Booker at the four and I think he’s gonna start Shimon zapala at the five and here’s why you got to reward what book just did down the stretch of Carolina number one let’s not forget that Booker started this season at the four I think if all goes well the intention here is for Xavier Booker to be the starting four I think we would all agree that’s the highest upside version of Michigan State I also think we would all agree that Dawson Garcia is a problem and Booker’s the only guy shaped like him you’re either giving someone you know is a mismatch a chance or you’re giving someone you think think is a mismatch a chance and the guy you think is a mismatch in Booker was phenomenal and may have won you the game against Carolina he’s had a week to prep for this I think you reward it I think you go back to your original starting lineup the same way like God forbid you ever move fears to the bench if he starts playing better you reward it the identity of this team is supposed to be the sophomores play the sophomores when they earn it Xavier Booker earned a look here against awon Garcia after what he did against Carolina yeah I wouldn’t be mad at that I think it’s the right
