I have were you shocked that Nebraska was 44 um not really huh I don’t know you think that’s higher than you would think that I mean I guess they had the kraton win um which was impressive so I guess not um but like as I looked at like you’re getting the Michigan state is currently the 32nd best team on K kmom versus Nebraska was 44 I guess I I expected to see them like in maybe the 60s 50s high 50s okay yeah I think the the kraton win is doing numbers for them yeah that makes sense and their one loss was to St Mary’s by three St Mary’s top 40 team yep okay that’s I guess Nebraska’s quietly quietly taking care of business yeah I mean resume wise Nebraska doesn’t really have a black mark right now they played a close game against bethon cookman but like I think they’re they’re holding up their end of the bargain as like a legitimate threat um it’s surprising to you and me because personnel-wise there’s not a ton that we love on Nebraska I will say Conor Sean has been great and we we are Conor Sean guys from a couple years ago Greg guard wrote him off but a Sean’s filled in in the tominaga ru nicely he’s shooting 44% from three Bryce Williams is a true Superstar uh shout out to Joe Jackson who told us this in the offseason when we were doing our big 10 player countdowns but Bryce Williams is like 20 points more nights than not um got six assists in their last game he kind of is a do-it-all offensive engine for them right now it’s also like it’s Bryce Williams and Conor Ean so like you know what I mean like they they’re exceeding expectations through this point in the season and I wonder how much of like a trip to Brin Center will be a wakeup call for them against the State team that’s clicking right now yeah the one thing I will say is Bryce Williams is was quietly really productive last season and has taken a jump this year so I think that’s I honestly think his play is pretty sustainable I don’t know about 18 a game but I think he’s going to be a guy that ends up around 16 a game um and has a really good year has some really good games in the Big 10 this year but uh having the ability to you know one of the places in the Big 10 you don’t want to go we had the discussion yesterday about days of the week you don’t want to go to places you don’t want to go play at Nebraska on certain days of the week I think being able to have them at home uh is definitely an advantage of Michigan State the one thing that scares me the most outside of actual kind of um Personnel because obviously like we talked about the personel is a little bit underwhelming uh hoyberg as a coach is just like a really good game planner type coach um so I think he approaches games in a way that gives his chance his team the best chance to win now with Michigan State there’s not like a singular Force where you’re like okay I want a game plan against for example with kraton they did the whole thing with cul brener and it worked out and they won the game Michigan State doesn’t really have that one singular person as as evident by how many people play and score so it kind of takes away that factor that scares me with hyberg um so it’s a it’s a good chance for Michigan State to win this basketball game at home um and like you said it’s going to be a while before Michigan State plays like an upper echelon Big 10 team so it’ be nice to see them continue this string of Gam where they’re able to knock off what I would constitute as lesser Big 10 opponents yeah so the hyberg game planning note is probably a story to watch he is a really underrated coach in my opinion he was kind of hot seedy a couple years ago um thank God they didn’t move on because he he’s the right guy at Nebraska I think he’s gonna end up having some really good seasons in the future still last season was a great season for them he’s built some very good teams this team certainly looks better than anybody expected them to be and largely like you go back to that kraton game it was a a perfect game plan they just like swarmed two-point range kraton attempted 10 shots from inside the ark um caul didn’t attempt a shot from inside the ark that’s the best center in the country and hyberg just took him out of the game we’ve also seen hyberg do that to Zack Edy in the past and it’s um really been good the interest thing about Nebraska’s profile which I think truly will be the story of this game is they game planwise to your point like what they want to do defensively is force teams to shoot threes and the like they have one of the worst three-point attempt rate defenses in the country 54% of their opponent’s shots come from three-point range against them that’s what they want and it’s a strange decision normally it’s the opposite we talk about good defenses wanting to limit the three-point line Nebraska does the opposite they say we’re not going to let any post player score but we’ll give up threes and when you flip that to think about a Michigan State matchup I don’t know if that’s a good or bad game plan it it’s certainly not the right game plan for Michigan State’s Personnel because like respectfully Michigan State doesn’t want to score in the post like Jackson kler is the only guy you guys throw the ball to to score and this is not going to be a Jackson ker game because Nebraska’s going to try and limit his attempts but like it does it scare you that you’re facing a team that basically says hey you got to beat us from three when your team has not made threes this season until the Minnesota game uh it scares me somewhat um but also at the same time I know that this team has struggled mightily from three I think if you give Jay nens enough attempts from three wide open he’s going to hit hit enough I think the Minnesota game was really good for some guys confidence and knock down threes um so you know at home I have a little bit more faith that they’re going to force to shoot three-pointers it’ll be very I think um it’ll be a massive positive if those guys are able to knock down some early maybe to get them going a little bit and feel good about themselves uh but you know I think Michigan they it’s crazy we shot 50% from three last game and that uh have bumped us up we are still uh 351st in the country currently uh really striving for that 278 mark That’s what I’m really looking forward to uh getting towards the end of the year but um I still got Fate that you know these Michigan State guys can knock down shots at a respectable clip if given the opportunity just to knock them down my gut tells me that this is another good getright performance for Michigan State’s Shooters because you would think you’re coming off a great shooting game against Minnesota so guys are confident feels like there’s going to be like a flood gates game at home at some point where it’s just like the crowd everybody erupts on some like we can shoot again stuff and this is a Nebraska defense that essentially wants to dare you to shoot so now it again it sounds a little counterintuitive for us to be like oh this is a good match up for Michigan State when y’all are one of the worst shooting teams in the country right cuz there there is a world where Michigan State just goes super cold and that’s what Nebraska wants and there’s no answer but I don’t know if I have to like gun to my head make a prediction on what this matchup who it who it favors it’s Michigan State because I believe in your Shooters to just make open threes in this game yeah I I think that’s kind of where I stand on it too at home like you said coming off the game with a lot of confidence from the Minnesota game uh I think guys should be feeling pretty good about themselves and be able to knock down shots I’m not saying they’re going to think they shot 50% % from last game uh I don’t think that’s going to happen again um but they uh I think they can you know be able to knock down enough to uh pull this one out yeah the other thing about Nebraska and hyberg game planning y’all can’t really be game planned for which is one of my favorite things about Michigan State because you you could see seven different versions of Michigan State in a 40-minute game right they don’t have that singular like oh we got a game plan for this player um wish wish we had that player that’d be fun but we don’t have that player but it’s it’s become a strength though like it’s become one of the hardest things to prepare for for you guys yeah strength and numbers head ass team yeah um if I were hyberg I think Cohen Carr would probably be the guy I would be trying to limit here because I feel like he’s he’s really been a key to your half court offense in a positive way in recent games and um you know just emerging superstar three level scorer he he’s doing it all that that’s probably the number one guy you want to limit when does this one end when does Michigan State’s winning streak end I don’t know looking at the schedule no I’m talking about this the the the the bit bit the K car bit bit I don’t think that that’s not very nice to call him a bit player he’s been a star um crazy kenpom note from me four five 6 S 8 nine 10 11 you guys are favored to to know um the other thing for me too on the Note like we talked about like Nebraska wanted this team to shoot threes we talk about it a lot offline and other people have talked to us about this as well if you’re Michigan if you’re playing Michigan State you want to force them into like midrange twos like you want to you want to tell Jay nak to shoot mid-range twos right or tough twos yep if he’s invited to shoot threes I think he’s going to knock it down at a at a good clip so you know Nebraska which they gray out pretty well defensively they’re 2 what six in the country defensively shout out to the Corn Huskers man good for y’all 26 best defense in the country that’s that’s good on y’all um so yeah I I think this is a game that Michigan State Should uh you know hopefully a players at the three-point line just staring at Nebraska players and like I don’t really want to shoot we don’t want to shoot too many threes and they’re like shoot it we’re like no and they’re like shoot it we’re just like no brief note from me actually genuinely no bit on this one um so spent much of the non-conference thinking you guys were like overrated right like I I think I consistently was betting against Michigan State um the first two games I’ve really thought you guys are underrated are Minnesota and Nebraska like I think you’re just a way better basketball team than both those teams that proved itself against Minnesota I think it’s going to prove itself at home against Nebraska too um the sneaky quiet little thing that’s been going on that nobody I really feel like nobody’s realized is your sophomore class is playing well like on some real [ __ ] like Jeremy fs and Xavier Booker and Cohen Carr have had backto back like awesome games minus fears is hold debacle against North Carolina but like that was what this team was supposed to be in November and then we spent all of November with those three guys struggling and that’s why I didn’t believe in the team and now here we are in December all three of them are playing well it’s a totally different team if the sophomore class is playing well that’s who that’s who this core is supposed to be we’ll start talking about how there’s less balance than we thought if those three are really good so I’m keeping my eye on that and uh specific to this game I’ll make a little prediction along with my blowout prediction I think Jeremy fears hits multiple three-pointers in this game I think Xavier Booker hits three threes in this game I think Cohen Carr hits a three in this game oh my God all the sophomores to a three I think the sophomore stuff is for real and uh not saying they’re going to magically become good Shooters but fears is looking like a willing shooter I bet they just sag off him like crazy and I bet
