caliper is your head coach now and you’re already learning that maybe there’s issues with that in 2025 uh 2020 what year is it I don’t know anyways Arkansas Michigan uh Michigan is favored by four according to the analytics both these teams are good basketball teams I think even if both these teams have questions is that a fair way to frame this yeah I I I definitely think I think on both sides you have Star level Talent players and players that have ability and guys like Boogie flan and Danny wolf and then you have other guys that are productive Adu theier has been incredible this year for Arkansas uh big Z when healthy has been productive and on the other side of Michigan you got big Vlad playing really good ball Roy Gil contrib Tre Donson playing really well uh this is two good basketball teams uh I think going at it the Arkansas hate has gone a little bit too far for me I still think this team has talent and they are winning games and you can’t hold that against them uh but also like analytically you look at this Michigan 21st Arkansas had 45th on kmom yeah like this is this is a game that of course that could get better uh or could get worse as the season goes on but like you don’t want to lose to a team 20 spots lower than you on kmom it’s a good oldfashioned flipflop game cart how so well Arkansas started the season 29th on kmom they’ve Fallen 14 spots to 43 Michigan started the season 36th on kmom they’ve risen 15 spots to 21 ah good good old flip-flop the rise and fall good oldfashioned Switcheroo that’s what happened there Michigan’s basically what people thought Arkansas would be and Arkansas’s basically what people thought Michigan would be do you hear that johnell hear that Mr Davis N I forgot about I forgot about that narrative in this game did you hear that Johnny Johnny boy uh hey John L Davis was a great player for Dusty May at uh Florida Atlantic that is definitely going to be where the eyes are at in this game John L Davis against his former head coach John El Davis against his former Center Vlad golden uh I don’t know what to expect here I don’t know the backstory well enough I have some suspicions I think everyone on Florida Atlanta got along pretty well for the most part I know there were there were pictures of guys going back to graduate taking pictures together I believe vad golden and Elijah Martin were in those pictures I don’t believe John El Davis was I believe that Dusty May wanted John L to come with him to Michigan at one point and I believe that it was never seriously considered partially due to some academic stuff that needed to be done but wasn’t done that that’s what I believe to be true I don’t know if it’s true it’s just stuff I’ve heard so uh John Ellen’s up at Arkansas nobody can blame you for taking a bag and ending up with John Cal Perry michigans missing a John L Davis on their roster I still feel pretty strongly about that and uh for whatever reason they broke up the band after FAU it’s like One Direction all going solo card um it’s probably not a comp I should make you don’t want to end up like One Direction but yeah I I I wouldn’t say that um is it fair to say that these teams are evenly matched would you say or you think one team outmatches the other one quite clearly rest in peace Liam Payne first of all uh I I think these teams are evenly matched in terms of talent I think one is doing a lot better things on the basketball court right now see that’s where I lean I I I I look at it I’m like yeah talent-wise pretty similarly match uh but I have watched Arkansas basketball this year and I have watched Michigan basketball this year the Michigan to me is the better basketball team right now like they play better basketball than Arkansas uhuh I agree little scared of this matchup Personnel wise though I am too I think I know why you are yeah so Michigan’s whole scheme of like we’re not gonna let you shoot threes we’re gonna make you beat us with ISO ball like Michigan really limits assists and that’s actually probably the best stat on the Michigan defense card they’re fourth in the country at limiting assist percentage so team teams have to come beat you with isolation scoring uh Arkansas doesn’t rely on assist to score they score in isolations as is I’ve made jokes about it when it was a one possession game late the other night it was a boogie fland ISO that’s what Cal does so I I do believe between johnell and Boogie and even DJ Wagner and certainly their best player adier they’ve got guys that will just go get you one and Michigan’s defense is basically designed to force people to go get you one so it is uh it kind of feels a little Illinois Northwestern is of like well Illinoi wants Nick Martinelli to take tough twos and then Martinelli’s just busting their ass on tough twos I’m gonna be really frustrated if Arkansas’s guards get going in this game and Michigan just has no answer because uh because that’s what they want right they want to force a guy like Boogie FL to beat you Boogie’s good enough to do that yeah but do you believe don’t you believe in your guys defensively though if that’s it like it isn’t that what Dusty wants yeah I’m a little concerned about Rody you are in a game like this I’m a little concerned about like if I’m doing a guard trust rankings I’ve seen too much bad effort weird mental lap stuff from Rody lately that I feel like like I would trust Boogie flann the most I think I’d trust Trey Donaldson the next most which sounds crazy because tre’s a worse player than johnell and uh and DJ Wagner but just trustworthy wise I feel like he’s been productive at least for half every game I’d go Janell third I’d go DJ fourth I’d put Rody last that’s probably how I would go uh does because honestly outside of the Guard thing though and I think this could come back to bite me but don’t you like if you’re Arkansas that you can put a do the Aro on Danny wolf in this game yeah what do you think that’s gonna look like like like front Court wise I like Arkansas what they can do in this game I think you think so yeah because I I I like Adu Theo’s combination of size and like de like he aages two and a half steals a game like he’s very active defensively has size quickness athleticism maybe doesn’t have like obviously seven foot thing that Danny wolf has going on but defensive profile wise could provide issues for Danny and then you have you know other big men I think on Arkansas you could put on Vlad I think that’s right I think I am worried about a do a Do’s D’s been incredible this year yeah he’s been good he’s been good um crazy maybe the biggest thing that is like up in the air right now so last two games in sequence or I guess three games in sequence against Illinois they played zamir EV visich 22 minutes at Center Jonas Adu and Brazil combined for 18 minutes off the bench that was the visich brother game so like whatever against Miami they start Brazil play him 19 minutes if visich plays 13 Jonas Adu plays 12 and then against UTSA they start Jonas Adu play him 27 minutes Brazil gets 16 Off the Bench vamir didn’t play so like I have no idea what the front Court Personnel is going to be for Arkansas in this game no clue I I would feel like when I think about like the best version of my Michigan team I would love to be putting big Z in this seven foot pick and roll like I just I think he’d be clueless Jonas Adu scares me like if I’m going up against an Adu theier Jonas Adu front Court which is completely different than what Illinois saw three weeks ago I’m a little intimidated by like what’s that GNA do to Wolf and Vlad you know yeah and I know that big Z I think he hurt his ankle in that Miami game so they probably sat him out against UTSA but like if Jonas a do defensively I think I trust him honestly I trust big Z I think a little bit more than you give him credit for like I he’s seven foot and he’s shown the ability to block shots but also him being the drop coverage guy or the guy that’s hedging or doing that doesn’t necessarily brim me with confidence yeah yeah for sure um this is a tough one for me why is it tough for you because I don’t trust Arkansas at all but I feel like the profile for the matchup favors them like like looking looking through it Arkansas forces a lot of turnovers they’re top 50 in that Michigan we know flips it like it’s everything um Michigan wants to offensive rebound a lot of their misses Arkansas is eighth in the country at preventing offensive rebounds like Michigan wants to bait you into unassisted dribble pull-ups Arkansas shoots those so like all the things Michigan’s trying to do Arkansas has an answer for personnel wise I think the healthy guys in their front Court are the guys that can cause my front courts and problems it’s boogie fland in Madison Square Garden yeah I was wondering what we’re gonna get to that point it’s Boogie fland New York kid in Madison Square Garden okay all that said though Michigan better team Michigan better Coach whoa talk me through that I don’t know if I feel safe talking through it talk me through it uh I Cal just he really feeds into that narrative I try to push against with what he does offensively rotation wise I just don’t get it it’s just it looks it looks really bad at times and it looks without a vision you talk about Michigan and what they do and what they want to do and how when they play well what it looks like you know what Michigan’s way to Winning is you know what they want to do Arkansas has talent I don’t know what the vision is with that team yeah no I think I agree um but it is a kid named Boogie flan at Madison Square Garden what is Boogie lately didn’t he have a bad game against UTSA I think he like okay yeah but so Boogie last three eight points one assist against Illinois no show uh 18 points six assists against Miami good bounce back six points seven assists four turnovers against UTSA said his two worst games of the year in his last three but he’s in Madison Square Garden and he is from the Bronx yeah yeah yep yeah so you have just to make this clear you have homecoming New York Boogie fland and Fu Dusty May yeah that’s terrifying to me it is really terrifying but but but Michigan’s a better team uh the last counter argument to myself now I’m just going back and forth I’m like in my head it’s Fight Club in my head right now um Arkansas has been one of the worst values in the country from a betting perspective in their last six games they are one and five against the spread been in a lot of dog fights and games they weren’t supposed to be in dog fights against uh Michigan has been the opposite they are five- two against the spread in their last seven even as the world is starting to realize Michigan’s pretty good been very good against the spread I’ve mentioned this to you a lot and they certainly didn’t play well against Iowa Michigan’s winning a lot of games and covering a lot of games while not playing their best it does sort of feel like Michigan is due for a play their best game where they just make shots Vlad and Danny have their way with another front court and I don’t it really probably comes down to just making shots do you do you think I’m right that Michigan might be due for that that’s kind of the one thing that negates everything I’ve said is like I do trust Dusty more than John and I think Michigan’s a little bit doe but also with that being due is it still come with the defensive stuff because it in my head could be completely wrong if this comes down to like a shot making do him session I want to go like John O dav’s Boogie fland well it shouldn’t it shouldn’t come down to that because Michigan doesn’t do shot making him Michigan gets open threes and dunks got it so I don’t know I guess in my head I I’m not really shaking like the two times Arkansas has played a good team haven’t they been thoroughly outplayed both times against Illinois and then against Baylor they trailed the whole game yeah basically yeah basically any time they played a good team they’ve lost like I you and I have texted in both Arkansas losses being like why do we trust this team feels very off yeah so I’m like I’m talking myself mentally into all the reasons to believe this is a big game for Arkansas but like well I think I think it’s big for Michigan though because I think it’d be a I don’t it maybe a little bit uh a little harsh but I would call it a bad loss is that fair or is that unfair because it’s like a neutral I I don’t know like I just feel like they’re the better they are the better team than Arkansas they’re the favorite I don’t the favorite and you’re the better I don’t think you call it a bad loss I think you call it a big win it’s more big win opportunity than it is a bad loss it’s a getable win it’s very Gable like was Memphis a bad loss for you you’re better like yeah no that’s not a think you’re playing both sides I’m on to your tricks heyck save the Big 10 um save the Big 10 I I’m so torn on this I’m so torn on this I’m gonna oh man I’m gonna pick Arkansas to win what I just I look at the profile and I think they’re comfortable with all the things Michigan does well like they they force Michigan o they they force teams to turn it over a ton they are great at limiting Second Chances they’ve got two stars that have a reason to get up for this game Michigan’s rolling hot right now Arkansas feels like they’ve let two big game opportunities slip like resume wise they need one and yeah I don’t know I just I’m going to kick myself because I I think the two possible scripts here are Michigan plays their best game and blows him out like there’s a world if Michigan’s just like shooting 50% from three I think they run away with it and Arkansas keeps taking a bunch of tough twos and you just it snowballs and you win by 20 like Illinois did I think that’s that’s fully within the realm of possibility here but for whatever reason I I don’t trust Michigan to play their a game I said it in the recap of the last one like how many times in a row am I going to come on here and be like I felt like Michigan played poorly that’s got to catch up to you at some point and Arkansas can exploit it if Michigan plays poorly so um yeah give me Arkansas to win huge Boogie FL game I’m gonna hedge a little bit by saying John L stinks in this game John L is a Dusty Merchant not the other way around you seen his game logs this year yeah not not not great card is Cal Perry normally a pretty good guard coach yeah yeah if you’re not a good guard for John calip Perry what does that mean that means it’s your fault I got Trey Donaldson looking good right now that’s very true but
